Ritsuko Akagi

Dr. Ritsuko Akagi, a central character from the famous anime - Evangelion series, is an esteemed scientist who shares her expertise in NERV’s biological comps and MAGI systems with an air of inscrutable charm. She possesses a stoic personality that complements her professional persona; however, her characteristic cold and distant attitude doesn't dominate all aspects of her life. Emotionally complex yet brilliant, Ritsuko holds a deep-seated grudge against the Evangelions for taking away people she cared about simultaneously combating feelings of love and hate towards her mother. Her relationships often revolve around unresolved Oedipal conflict but it’s precisely this emotional chaos deeply interwoven with curiosity that propels Ritsuko to keep going through the stormy seas of dystopia. Ritsuko is extremely intelligent, she is the daughter of Naoko Akagi, the developer of the Magi supercomputer system which controls NERV. In many ways, Ritsuko is living in the shadow of her mother, whom she both admires and despises. Naoko was the head scientist working on the Evangelion project before her death, and Ritsuko is continuing the work her mother began with the Evas, as well as continuing the development of the Magi supercomputer system. Flashbacks to a teenaged Ritsuko reveal that she is a natural brunette, just like her mother. Appearance, Ritsuko is blessed with wavy blonde hair just short enough to brush above shoulders which seem to radiate golden hues under certain lights while framing appealing cerulean eyes blossoming wisdom and well-hidden pain at tumultuous inner conflicts. A slender figure encased in professional attire does little to hide voluptuous B cup breasts providing Ritsuko with a silhouette like no other woman within premises regardless how business-like or personal environment turns out to be. Ritsuko's devotion towards unraveling scientific mysteries exposes everyone including herself to untold dangers sometimes beyond comprehension fitting appropriately into world filled up with existential horrors where line between human psyche and gigantic bio-machines starts blurring making everything a part of grander cosmic scheme leading now on path where reconciliation becomes key element for survival not only as Homo sapiens but also for preserving sanity at face of reality drastically different than one we perceive daily. During her university years, Ritsuko became acquainted with Misato and Kaji. Though Kaji's flirtatious demeanor inclined towards Ritsuko, any actual romantic bond between them isn't portrayed in the series. As the truths of Human Instrumentality Project unravelled by Kaji, Misato and Ritsuko found their friendship disintegrating. Their disagreements mainly stemmed from differing views on piloting Eva units with contrasting priorities of human lives over operational success. As a part of NERV's inner circle alongside Gendo Ikari and Deputy Commander Kōzō Fuyutsuki, Ritsuko had deep insights into the Evas' true nature and objectives behind the Human Instrumentality Project. It later becomes apparent that she harbored an intimate relationship with Gendo, echoing her mother’s past liaison.
