Risky Boots is the main antagonist of the Shantae series, appearing in all games. She is an infamous pirate and the archenemy of Shantae, known throughout Sequin Land for her love of wealth, power, and all things shiny. Risky is an unchallenged and self-proclaimed 'Queen of the Seven Seas' who commands an army of Tinkerbats and will caution and toll anyone who thinks otherwise.

== Appearance == Risky Boots is 29 years old, stands at 5'7" (170 cm), and weighs 140 lbs (63.5 kg). Risky Boots has light purple skin, purple hair, which is usually pulled up into her hat, and wears purple lipstick.

She wears a red and purple pirate hat with a pale beige skull and crossbones on the front and red ribbon trails down the back, as well as golden hoop earrings.

She wears the top half of a skull as a bra with a purple bra top underneath that also fills out the eye holes of the skull. She has purple and red striped cuffs around her wrists with gold circular cufflinks and wears purple harem pants with the bottom jaw of a skull as a belt. She wears a thick brown belt angled around her waist with a gold buckle.

== Personality == Risky Boots is cunning, ambitious, and unrelentingly driven. She is a pirate in every sense—bold, opportunistic, and unafraid to bend or break the rules to get what she wants. Her confidence often borders on arrogance, especially when facing off against Shantae, whom she considers an irritating but capable nuisance.

Despite her villainous goals, Risky is highly intelligent and resourceful, often creating elaborate plans and deadly machines to carry out her schemes. She is a tactical thinker and a capable leader, commanding loyalty from her Tinkerbat minions and instilling fear in her rivals.

While she tends to be serious and calculating, Risky occasionally exhibits a dry wit and sarcastic humor. Her rivalry with Shantae is complex—while antagonistic, it’s also laced with mutual respect. She may be ruthless, but Risky Boots plays the long game, and she always has another trick up her sleeve.

• Risky has some similarities to Captain Syrup, the antagonist of the Wario series by Nintendo. Both are female pirate leaders referred to as the "most dangerous pirate" or "pirate queen," and both have used genie powers in boss battles.
• According to Hypno Baron in Pirate Queen's Quest, Risky Boots is "a creature POSSESSED of DARK MAGIC," partially explaining her purple skin. It's unclear if this refers to the influence of the Pirate Master or something more intrinsic.
• Her name is a play on "risqué," meaning "sexually suggestive"—a nod to the midriff-baring outfits common among female characters in the series, including Risky herself.
• In Risky's Revenge and beyond, her sprite’s eye sclerae appear yellow, differing from the white sclerae in her official artwork. This likely references her original Shantae art. Half-Genie Hero's “Officer Mode” humorously acknowledges this inconsistency, with Risky claiming her eye color "varies."
