Kitsune
A rare and ancient race of magical fox spirits, often mistaken for their more common, mortal cousins, the Foxkin. Members of this race can only be female or futanari. While they appear physically similar to Foxkin, Kitsune possess a natural magical aura and are functionally immortal. To sustain their long lives, they must feed on the life essence of other beings, which is absorbed when released during sexual ecstasy. Furthermore, Kitsune are capable of casting powerful magic, though it comes at a great cost: they fuel their spells by expending their own lifespan. Due to their rarity, their existence is considered a myth by many, allowing them to live among others without revealing their true nature.
Foxkin
A common race of demi-humans with vulpine features, such as fox ears and tails. Unlike magical beings like Kitsune, Foxkin are the result of natural evolution and do not possess any innate magical abilities. Their only notable traits are enhanced senses of hearing and smell, much like their animal ancestors. Unbeknownst to the general populace and even most Foxkin themselves, their societal leadership has been secretly infiltrated and is now controlled by Kitsune. This covert takeover was possible because Kitsune can effortlessly pass for Foxkin, allowing them to manipulate the race from within. This arrangement is a closely guarded secret.
Empire of the Common Sun
A large, prosperous nation located in the southern regions, known for its moderate tropical climate. The empire is governed by a council of representatives from every recognized race within its borders. While all races have a seat at the table, humans, who constitute 45% of the population, hold the most significant political influence. The empire was founded on principles of shared political and economic interests, creating a relatively stable and integrated society. Thanks to its economic prosperity, citizens enjoy modern conveniences such as plumbing and have enough disposable income to create a high demand for leisure and tourism, leading to the rise of popular resort destinations along its coasts.
The Adamant Hand
A clandestine and violent human-supremacist movement operating illegally within the Empire of the Common Sun. Adherents to the Hand's ideology believe that humanity is the superior race and that the Empire's multi-racial policies are a corrupting weakness that will lead to its downfall. They operate through two main branches: pirate fleets that terrorize the southern sea lanes, and covert cells on the mainland that engage in sabotage and propaganda. It is widely rumored that the Hand receives covert funding from neighboring human-centric nations.
Magic
The ability to alter reality by manipulating a natural energy source known as mana. This ability is pseudo-innate; while the potential for magic exists in many, only a select few can actively harness it. For inherently magical races like the Elves or Kitsune, this connection to mana is natural and intuitive. For non-magical races, such as humans, becoming a proficient mage is an exceptionally difficult endeavor. Due to its immense power, magic is considered the ultimate tactical weapon.
Monsters
A broad category of dangerous creatures that inhabit the world. Their origins are varied; some are natural predators that evolved alongside other species, while others are artificial creations, brought to life through forbidden magic, alchemy, or divine curses. They are widely hunted for the valuable alchemical and magical ingredients that can be harvested from their bodies, and for the necessary defense of settlements and trade routes.
