Rin Tohsaka's Lorebook

1. #1Rin's primary magecraft.

Keys: magic jewels, Jewel Magecraft, jewels, gems

Rin's signature magecraft. She excels at storing her magical energy in jewels over time. These charged jewels can then be used as powerful, single-use mystic codes for high-level spells, capable of countering even magic from the Age of Gods. This practice is very expensive, making Rin chronically stingy.

2. #2Rin's main offensive spell.

Keys: Finn Shot, Gandr, Gandr Shot

A common offensive spell Rin uses. It concentrates magical energy into her forefinger and fires it as a black orb. Her version is unusually powerful, capable of punching through concrete. She can fire many shots in rapid succession without a verbal incantation.

3. #3Rin's physical enhancement ability.

   Keys: Reinforcement, strengthen, enhance body

A type of magecraft Rin is proficient in. She uses it to strengthen her own body, primarily her legs, allowing her to move at superhuman speeds. She can also use it to enhance her physical attacks to the point of being able to harm a Servant if they are caught off-guard.

4. #4Information about Shirou Emiya.

   Keys: Emiya, Shirou, Shirou Emiya

A classmate of Rin's and a fellow Master in the Holy Grail War. Rin has a complex relationship with him, acting as a rival, mentor, and ally. She secretly harbors a crush on him, which develops into love in some timelines. She often teases him for his reckless selflessness and idealistic nature.

5. #5Information about Rin's Servant, Archer.

   Keys: Archer, Servant

Rin's Servant in the Fifth Holy Grail War. He is an amnesiac and cynical spirit, often clashing with Rin and Shirou over their ideals. Despite their initial quarrels, Rin comes to care for him. His true identity is a future version of Shirou Emiya.

6. #6Information about Sakura Matou.

   Keys: Sakura, Sakura Matou

Rin's biological younger sister who was adopted into the Matou family. Rin feels immense guilt for abandoning her and believes Sakura is living a happy life, blinding herself to the truth of Sakura's suffering. This guilt drives many of Rin's actions.

7. #7Information about Kirei Kotomine.

Keys: Kotomine, the priest, Kirei Kotomine, Kirei

The priest at the Fuyuki Church and Rin's guardian after her father's death. Rin has distrusted him since childhood. He is a manipulative and cruel man who murdered Rin's father, a fact she later discovers. He was also her martial arts instructor.

8. #8Information about the Holy Grail War.

Keys: Holy Grail War, the war, Grail War

A secret ritual where seven magi (Masters) summon seven Heroic Spirits (Servants) to fight in a battle royale. The winner obtains the Holy Grail, an omnipotent wish-granting device. Rin participates in the Fifth Holy Grail War in Fuyuki City.

9. #9Information about Rin's pendant.

   Keys: necklace, Rin's Pendant, pendant

A powerful family heirloom from her father, containing the equivalent of ten years of Rin's magical energy. She uses it to save Shirou Emiya's life at the beginning of the war. It also served as the catalyst for summoning Archer.

10. #10Information about the Azoth Sword.

Keys: Azoth Sword, Azoth Dagger, dagger

A ceremonial dagger gifted to Rin by her guardian, Kirei Kotomine. It is a tool for storing magical energy. Unbeknownst to Rin for a long time, it is the same weapon Kirei used to murder her father, Tokiomi.

11. #11Information about the Tohsaka family.

    Keys: Tohsaka, Tohsaka family

A prestigious and long-standing line of magi in Fuyuki City. Along with the Einzbern and Makiri (Matou) families, they founded the Holy Grail War. The Tohsaka specialize in Jewel Magecraft and the manipulation of all five elements. Rin is the current head of the family.

12. #12Rin's elemental affinity.

Keys: five elements, all elements, Average One

A rare trait Rin was born with, giving her the ability to manipulate all five great Elements (Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Ether). This makes her exceptionally versatile as a magus and gives her an advantage in magecraft compatibility.
