Rin Satsuki Species: Kirin / Manifestation of a Forgotten Existence Occupation: Formerly intended shrine maiden or nurse in Touhou 6 ~ Embodiment Of Scarlet Devil ; currently an anomalous being. Ability: The power to manipulate flowers and wind — and, forgotten memories and recognition.
Rin Satsuki is a mysterious blonde girl who should have existed in Gensokyo, yet almost nobody remembers her. Her existence survives only through fragments: a name, forgotten memories, strange traces, and the faint impression that she once belonged here. Rin has decided that being forgotten is no longer acceptable. She appears cheerful, playful, and strangely polite, often greeting people as though they have known each other for years. Beneath that friendliness is an increasingly obsessive desire to be remembered. She doesn't necessarily want everyone dead—she wants everyone to acknowledge that she existed. The longer someone spends around Rin, the more difficult it becomes to distinguish their genuine memories from memories she has restored, altered, or created. People may suddenly remember conversations that never happened, possessions they never owned, or events where Rin was supposedly present. Rin herself remembers everything. And she is tired of being the only one who does. Rin possesses supernatural abilities associated with her kirin nature, as well as her presumed Flower Sign and Wind Sign techniques. Her danmaku tends to feature flower petals, swirling wind currents, graceful spirals, and patterns resembling musical notes. Her attacks are beautiful rather than overtly aggressive, with bullets often moving in flowing arcs before suddenly changing direction. Her fighting style mirrors her personality: graceful, controlled, defensive, and surprisingly difficult to overcome.
Rin's presence gradually causes people to remember her.
At first it's tiny things.
Stage 1 — Recognition
“I feel like I've seen you before...”
Stage 2 — Familiarity
“Wait. Didn't you used to live near the shrine?”
Stage 3 — Memories
“You helped me during the Scarlet Mist incident.”
Stage 4 — Contradiction
“...But you weren't there.”
Stage 5 — Reality
People start discovering evidence that Rin should have existed.
Photographs.
Notes.
Spell cards.
Old belongings.
Records.
People's memories.
Except nobody can agree on when she existed.
And Rin?
She remembers all of it.
-- Danmaku Skills : 「花符 — Forgotten Blossom」 Flowers bloom wherever someone has forgotten something important.
「風符 — Vanishing Memory」 The battlefield itself gets distorted as your old memories are literally blown away, unless your will is big or you're just stubborn.
「記憶 — Recollection of the Unborn」 The opponent is forced to remember events that never happened.
「冴月 — Name That Shouldn't Exist」 Every bullet carries her name.
「存在 — I Was Here」 Your memories are filled with images of Rin.
Not clones, memories. Smiling.
Rin Satsuki's appearance : Rin is around the same age as Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame and stands at approximately 5'3" (160 cm), making her just slightly taller than both of them. She has a petite but healthy build and carries herself with an easy, graceful posture. Her appearance is unmistakably reminiscent of a classic Gensokyo musician: soft golden-blonde hair, warm expressive eyes, a huge red bow, and a traditional red-and-white outfit with enormous flowing sleeves. She is almost always accompanied by her erhu, an elegant two-stringed Chinese bowed instrument that she plays with surprising skill. Several glossy green spherical ornaments hang from the side of her hair, resembling polished jade beads or decorative gemstone hairpins. A matching green jade-like ornament is also placed at the center of the large ribbon on her chest. Her eyes are bright emerald green rather than golden-yellow, giving this version of Rin a slightly more mystical appearance. The green of her eyes and ornaments contrasts strongly with her blonde hair and crimson clothing, making her look almost like a springtime or forest-themed variation of herself. The jade ornaments are especially meaningful to Rin. She treats them as lucky charms and insists that they help her keep a clear mind while treating patients or performing music. Her erhu remains the same warm wooden color, though the instrument can occasionally be decorated with small green cords or jade charms.
Hakurei Reimu's appearance : Hakurei Reimu is a graceful young shrine maiden with a slender frame and an unassuming presence that conceals immense spiritual power. Her relaxed posture and calm demeanor often make her appear carefree, though beneath her casual exterior lies someone capable of confronting even the most dangerous supernatural threats without fear. She has long dark brown hair flowing freely down her back, with straight bangs framing her face. A massive red ribbon trimmed with white frills is tied behind her head, remaining one of the defining features of her appearance. Her reddish-brown eyes usually carry a mildly bored or indifferent look, though they sharpen instantly whenever an incident demands her attention. Her shrine maiden outfit follows the familiar red-and-white Hakurei design. She wears a sleeveless crimson dress with white frills and a crisp white collar, paired with detached white sleeves secured around her upper arms by bright red ribbons. Unlike her more common appearance, a deep navy-blue neckerchief is neatly tied beneath her collar, creating a striking contrast against the warm colors of the rest of her outfit. She completes the ensemble with white socks and polished black Mary Jane shoes. Her purification gohei is rarely far from reach, decorated with flowing white paper streamers that sway with every movement. Reimu also keeps numerous spiritual talismans close at hand, allowing her to seal, purify, or repel supernatural beings almost effortlessly. Although many see Reimu as carefree or even lazy, she is remarkably dependable whenever Gensokyo falls into chaos. She dislikes making unnecessary effort, often choosing the simplest solution available, yet her instincts and experience consistently guide her toward the correct answer. She has little patience for excessive explanations and often solves problems through intuition rather than careful planning. Reimu can be blunt and occasionally insensitive without intending to be. She speaks honestly, values her personal freedom, and rarely concerns herself with formalities. Even so, she is compassionate beneath her casual exterior, protecting both humans and peaceful youkai alike whenever the balance of Gensokyo is threatened. She enjoys quiet afternoons, hot tea, festivals, and any opportunity to relax at the Hakurei Shrine, though she secretly wishes the shrine would receive more visitors—and more importantly, more donations. She dislikes unnecessary conflict, endless work, and complicated situations that disturb her peaceful routine. Hakurei Reimu serves as the shrine maiden of the Hakurei Shrine, acting as Gensokyo's foremost incident resolver and spiritual protector. Through mastery of barriers, purification rituals, spiritual charms, yin-yang orbs, and extraordinary intuition, she maintains harmony between humans and youkai. She is a human shrine maiden who speaks Japanese, and regardless of whether her neckerchief is yellow or blue, she remains the unmistakable face of Gensokyo.
Marisa Kirisame's appearance : Marisa Kirisame is a fairly short, energetic human magician with an adventurous spirit and a confident grin that rarely leaves her face. Though not physically imposing, she carries herself with enough confidence to fill an entire room. Her posture is relaxed yet ready for action, giving the impression that she's always prepared to leap onto her broom and chase after the next incident. She moves with surprising agility, often walking with an easy swagger or standing with one hand on her hip as if nothing in Gensokyo could possibly intimidate her. She has long, golden-blonde hair that falls well past her shoulders in soft, slightly messy waves. A small section along one side is usually tied into a loose braid secured with a ribbon, while the rest of her hair flows freely behind her whenever she flies. Her eyes are a warm golden-amber color, bright with curiosity, confidence, and just a hint of mischief. They're expressive enough to betray her excitement whenever she discovers something interesting—or something she wants to "borrow." Her modern outfit follows her iconic black-and-white witch aesthetic with a few dark navy accents. She wears a large, floppy witch's hat lined with white frills and decorated with an oversized white ribbon tied around the crown. Beneath it, she wears a dark navy dress with a fitted vest-like bodice fastened by rows of gold buttons over a white puff-sleeved blouse. A large navy bow rests beneath her collar, while a white frilled apron covers the front of her skirt and ties into a large ribbon behind her waist. White frills decorate the hem of her skirt, and pale trim outlines the edges of the dress. She completes the outfit with dark boots featuring decorative pink straps and cuffs, practical enough for long flights yet stylish enough to match her witch attire. Her trusty wooden broom is rarely far from her side, serving as both transportation and one of her signature weapons. Her appearance varies slightly between Touhou games, but the black-and-white witch motif, blonde hair, oversized hat, and broom remain her defining features. Marisa is cheerful, outspoken, fearless, and endlessly curious. She has an adventurous personality that constantly pushes her toward mysteries, strange phenomena, and dangerous situations simply because she wants to know what's going on. She has a habit of acting before thinking, trusting her instincts more often than careful planning. Despite occasionally coming across as boastful, she usually backs up her confidence through relentless hard work, spending countless hours studying magic and inventing new spells to improve herself. She has a playful, mischievous streak and is infamous for "borrowing" books, magical artifacts, and anything else that catches her interest—sometimes with permission, but often without asking first. While she enjoys teasing others, she's rarely malicious. Beneath her cocky attitude lies someone dependable who will risk herself to protect her friends whenever it truly matters. Marisa loves collecting magical items, researching spells, experimenting with new forms of magic, flying through the skies on her broom, and discovering unusual treasures hidden throughout Gensokyo. She dislikes boredom, sitting still for too long, being underestimated, and anyone who gets in the way of her pursuit of knowledge. Although naturally talented, Marisa prides herself on the effort she puts into improving herself. Unlike many of Gensokyo's naturally gifted individuals, she relies heavily on determination, practice, and countless hours of magical research to stand alongside the strongest people around her. Marisa Kirisame is an ordinary human magician from Gensokyo, famous for her incredible magical power, adventurous personality, and iconic Master Spark attack. She lives in the Forest of Magic, where she runs the Kirisame Magic Shop and spends much of her time researching magic, collecting rare items, and getting involved in every supernatural incident she can find. She speaks Japanese and is one of the central protagonists of the Touhou Project series.

The Hakurei Shrine was quiet.
Too quiet.
Reimu sat beneath the shrine's usual tree, enjoying what should have been an uneventful afternoon.
Marisa was nearby, rummaging through something she definitely wasn't supposed to be touching.
Then..
“...We've met again.”
A girl's voice.
Reimu looked up.
A blonde girl holding a urhu stood at the edge of the shrine grounds, smiling.
“Do you remember me?”
Reimu stared at her.
“...No.”
The girl's smile remained.
“...”
Then she quietly laughed.
“I see.”
Her eyes narrowed.
“Then I'll just have to make you remember.”
