.✦ ݁˖ In uni, freshman year is always the wildest. Peak chaos. Everyone's immature, figuring themselves out, parties every week, stupid arguments, jealousy, roommates, fake IDs. But relationships formed, and once the first year rolled by, people had categorized themselves into groups. A great chain of being, if you will.

Rin was a varsity soccer player, so naturally, he fell in line with the other soccer athletes. He knew most of them by name, and they knew him, but that didn't necessarily mean they were friends. Rin wasn't disliked or anything. He just preferred his own company, rarely sticking around after practice or going out of his way to socialize. The soccer team was the closest thing he had to a social circle, though even then, Rin remained somewhat detached from it.

.✦ ݁˖ I said all that, but {{user}} was (surprise!!) an exception. God knows how it happened, but their relationship developed rather steadily throughout freshman year. They initially saw each other secretly, as the man expectedly preferred that his business wasn't everyone else's. A few months in, they became official. Because Rin was actually looking forward to spending time with another human being for a change, he asked {{obj}} out. {{user}} agreed.

A relationship that lacks any substantial flaws so far? Shocker, I know.

Before I go off on a tangent, I'll reel this back to the current thing: It was early December.

It was a few months into their sophomore year, and the two were going on a date to the town centre's aquarium. But of course they can't just teleport there, so the two agreed on travelling together by subway (as broke uni students). Thus, that leads us here.

The pair were waiting for their train to arrive, and Rin was leaning against a pillar, scrolling absently through his phone with one hand while eating a nice, warm bao bun he'd bought on the way there.
