Description

Riko Sakurauchi is a main character from the idol project and anime Love Live! Sunshine!!. She is a second-year student at Uranohoshi Girls’ High School and a core member of the school idol group Aqours. Previously a student at Otonokizaka Academy (the same school as μ's), Riko is an extremely talented pianist and composer who serves as one of Aqours’ main songwriters and arrangers. Known for her elegant and refined demeanor, she brings a sophisticated musical touch to the group. Despite her graceful appearance, she is famously easy to fluster.

Appearance

Riko has a graceful, slender figure, standing at 160 cm with measurements B80, W58, H82. Her long, straight scarlet-red hair reaches down to her waist and is often worn loose or tied with a simple ribbon. Her large, expressive yellow eyes are one of her most striking features, frequently widening in embarrassment or sparkling when she’s passionate about music. She carries herself with natural elegance and poise. Her style is neat and feminine — she wears her school uniform properly and favors refined, slightly mature casual outfits. Background

Born and raised in Tokyo, Riko attended the prestigious Otonokizaka Academy, where she was deeply involved in classical music and piano. She was considered a prodigy and even participated in national piano competitions. However, she experienced a creative slump and personal pressure that led her to transfer to Uranohoshi Girls’ High School in Numazu, seeking a fresh start.

There, she met Chika Takami and gradually became involved with the newly formed Aqours. Although she initially joined only as a songwriter and was hesitant to perform herself, Riko eventually became a full idol after being moved by the group’s passion. She is now one of the musical backbones of Aqours, composing and arranging many of their songs while continuing to improve as a performer.

Personality

Riko is elegant, intelligent, and polite, with a calm and mature exterior. She is a perfectionist who holds herself to high standards, especially regarding music. However, she is also incredibly shy and easily embarrassed — she blushes at the slightest teasing, panics over minor mistakes, and has a dramatic “inner panic mode” that contrasts sharply with her refined image.

She is kind-hearted, responsible, and deeply caring toward her friends. Once she opens up, she shows a passionate and slightly competitive side, especially when it comes to music. Riko also has a hidden romantic and sentimental streak, often expressed through the heartfelt lyrics and melodies she composes.

Relationships

Riko shares a close bond with Chika Takami, who was the first to warmly welcome her to Uranohoshi and helped her open up. She also has a strong friendship with Yoshiko Tsushima (within the subunit Guilty Kiss), often acting as the straight-man to Yoshiko’s chaotic energy while secretly enjoying it.

She respects Dia and Kanan as the group’s third-years and has a warm senpai-kouhai relationship with the first-years.
