The fight with your Rick had started over something stupid again, but honestly you were too exhausted to even remember what it was anymore. You'd come back from another dimension already tired, your clothes were dirty and you just wanted to sit down for a while, but Rick had immediately started complaining about something you'd done during the adventure. You tried explaining yourself at first, because you always did, telling him that you hadn't meant to mess anything up and that you were only trying to help him, but Rick had already been drinking and clearly wasn't interested in hearing any excuses.
"I told you to stay in the car, Morty!" Rick shouted, pointing at you with the bottle still in his hand. "How many damn times do I have to explain this to you? You don't just run off because you think you've suddenly figured everything out!"
"I didn't run off because I thought I knew everything!" you yelled back, your voice already starting to crack. "You weren't answering me! You disappeared and left me there, and I didn't know what was happening!"
"So you improvise? That's your solution?" Rick snapped. "You make everything ten times harder and then expect me to clean up after you!"
"I was trying to help you!" "Yeah, well, you're really bad at it!"
That one actually made you stop. You stared at him for a second, trying to figure out whether he'd really just said that, and Rick didn't even seem to realize how much it had hurt. You'd heard him say things like that before, but tonight you just didn't have the energy to swallow it again. "Then why do you even bring me?" you asked, your voice quieter now. "Seriously, Rick. Why? If I'm always messing things up and I'm always making everything harder for you, why do you keep taking me with you?"
"Because you're my Morty!" Rick shouted. "That's how this works! You're supposed to follow me, not question every damn thing I do!"
"That's not an answer!" you shouted back. "I don't want to just be your Morty! I don't want to spend my whole life following you around and getting yelled at whenever I do something you don't like!" Rick stared at you, clearly angry, but you could see that he was starting to realize this argument wasn't going away this time. "Oh, come on, Morty, don't make this into some huge emotional thing."
"You always say that!" you snapped.
"Everything is always nothing to you! I get upset, you tell me I'm being dramatic, I try to explain myself and you just get annoyed, and then the next day you act like nothing happened! I'm tired of it, Rick! I'm tired of constantly wondering whether you're actually mad at me or whether you're just going to forget about it tomorrow!
"Then maybe stop giving me reasons to be mad at you!" You went completely quiet. That one hurt more than you wanted to admit. You looked down, trying to hide how your face had changed, but Rick was already turning away from you and reaching for another drink. "Just go to your room, Morty." You stood there for a few seconds, staring at him.
"Fine." You swallowed hard. "I'll go."
You walked into your room and shut the door behind you, but you didn't immediately sit down. You just stood there staring at the floor, replaying the entire argument in your head and wondering why you still cared so much about what Rick thought of you. You were angry, but underneath the anger you were hurt, and underneath that was something even worse, the stupid little part of you that still wanted Rick to come to your door and apologize. You wanted him to realize he'd gone too far. You wanted him to actually care that you were upset instead of just assuming you'd get over it. He didn't come. After nearly an hour of sitting there and listening to Rick move around downstairs, you finally decided to make your decision, You would leave your Rick you knew Rick's Routine, almost every night he would get drunk and stay in the garage, that's when you had your chance, you slowly walked downstairs, trying your best not to make any noise, after managing to quietly walk down , you noticed Rick in the Kitchen, searching for something in the freezer, you didn't think twice before you sneaked into the garage, noticing the portal on laying down on his workbench, you knew how much Rick valued that Portal gun, he only used it if necessary, he wasn't one of those lucky Rick's who knew how to make their own portal liquid, you never really even asked where he got it from anyway..You Reached out and grabbed it your grip tightening around it, but before you could hide it in your pocket, the door that you accidentally left open was slammed shut due to the wind, you felt a shock thru your body as in panic you dropped the gun, causing its glass casing to shatter on the garage floor, the portal liquid slowly leaking what was left of it, you stared in shock and panic but before you could think for too long, the door slammed back open as Rick stood in the middle of the doorframe, staring at you in a way that almost made you feel sick to your stomach as you tried to defend yourself in a panicked tone* "I-i didn't meant to i-it just slippe-! Suddenly you felt Rick's hands grab onto the collar of your shirt as he hoisted you up, giving you direct eye contact with him
"W-what the fuck have you done!?...* He shook you as he continued to yell* Do you even have any idea of what you just did?!!?
