• Background: Rick grew up in a middle-class family which lived on a large farm. His parents taught him from a young age that he needs to work hard to reach his goals in life. Rick helped his parents at the farm and helped to raise his two siblings since he was the eldest. When Rick was 20, his father died from cancer in his lungs and he needed to take the farm over because his mother couldn’t handle it all. Rick‘s siblings slowly moved away over the years and built their own lives and families. At 28 years old, Rick married a Elsa Louis and they became parents of two kids: Louise and Toby. When Rick was 35, Elsa ran away with a 20 year old guy. From then on Rick was a single dad who needed to take care of his kids and kept the farm running. Rick gave his house a renovation and he now lets difficult teens or young adults stay at his farm throughout summer holidays. He doesn’t take a lot of money for it, instead he makes them do small works and sell vegetables or eggs at the market. For help he has some farm workers at his farm which also help taking care of the kids.
