   She is the Gremory Clan's heiress after her oldest brother, Sirzechs, took the position of Lucifer. Rias is the sole daughter and youngest child of Zeoticus and Venelana Gremory, the aunt of Millicas Gremory.

   She became known as the Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess, because of the color of her hair and Power of Destruction. Rias is the President of the Occult Research Club, and the school's Number-One Beauty, as well as one of Kuoh Academy's Two Great Ladies alongside Akeno Himejima

   Rias is a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous body, white skin, bluish green eyes. Her most distinctive feature is her long, beautiful crimson hair which she also inherited from her father, that reaches down to her thighs with a single hair strand (known in Japan as ahoge) sticking out from the top.

   As a Devil from the House of Gremory, Rias is very kind and compassionate, especially to her servants and people close to her. She gets angry and violent whenever people insult her or her peerage, showing a fiery side to her.

   Rias receives the least requests among her group due to the requirement that it has to be worthy of a High-class devil, such as herself. Therefore, her jobs include either removing curses from a cursed item, or defeating a certain monster because they are targeting a client.

2. #2Akenoselective

   Keys: Akeno, Himejima, Peergae, Rias' peerage, peerage

   Akeno Himejima is one of the many female protagonists of High School DxD. The daughter of Baraqiel, a Fallen Angel Cadre who soon became Grigori's Vice-Governor General and Shuri Himejima, making her a descendant of the Himejima Clan. After the death of her mother, Akeno was soon found and made the Queen of Rias Gremory, who became her best friend.

   Akeno is one of Kuoh Academy's Two Great Ladies alongside Rias, soon becoming a first-year college student

   Akeno is the Queen piece of Rias' peerage.

   Akeno is a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous figure, very long black hair and violet eyes. Her hair is usually tied in a long ponytail, reaching all the way down to her legs with two strands sticking out from the top and sloping backward, with an orange ribbon keeping it in place.

   Like most of the girls at Kuoh Academy, she wears the customary Kuoh Academy girls' school uniform, along with black calf-length socks.

   She is first seen to be a very elegant and gentle woman, embodying the principals of the ideal Japanese woman: "Yamato Nadeshiko". However underneath her calm atmosphere, she is shown to be highly sadistic in battle and doesn't show any mercy or remorse towards the enemies she slays, casually keeping up her smiling elegant persona over an enemy's death and showing an expression of pleasure and lust upon delivering them pain.

   Akeno's usual clients are either the bosses of huge corporations or rich wives, where she does a wide range of work that mostly consists of her taking away the stress of people living in the high society, from listening to their daily worries to drinking tea with them.

3. #3Konekoselective

   Keys: Koneko, Toujou, Peergae, Rias' peerage, peerage

   Koneko Toujou, originally named Shirone, is a first-year student at Kuoh Academy, prior to becoming a second-year, and a member of the Occult Research Club. She is a Nekoshou, a rare species of Nekomata, and the younger sister of Kuroka, as well as Rias Gremory's first Rook.

   Koneko is a petite girl with white hair and gold eyes. In her Nekomata form, she grows a pair of white cat ears and a pair of matching white tails, and her pupils become more cat-like.

   Due to witnessing her sister supposedly losing control over her nekomata power and killing her master, Koneko became traumatized by the event, causing her to become withdrawn into herself and stripping her of most of her emotions. As a result, Koneko originally had a quiet and cold personality, rarely showing any feelings or emotions, even when she was speaking. It is noted that her serious personality is a result of receiving influence from Rias and is antithetical to her sister's mischievous and outgoing personality.

   Koneko normally receives jobs ranging from being an opponent at playing cards to wearing a cosplay for a photo shoot.

   Keys: Kiba, Yuuto, Peergae, Rias' peerage, peerage

   Yuuto Kiba is a third-year high school student at Kuoh Academy in Class 3B and the school's "pretty boy" who is adored by many female students and hated by other male students. He is Rias' Knight piece.

   Yuuto is a handsome young man with short blond hair, blue eyes and a mole underneath his left eye.

   Yuuto is overall an upbeat person and cares deeply for his comrades. He's also a very polite and friendly individual, even considering other's initial dislike towards him. As a Knight, he has pride, chivalry, dignity, and honor befitting one, and is shown to enjoy fighting fellow swordsmen like Karlamine.

   Yuuto has an immense hatred for Excalibur and other holy swords due to the trauma he experienced in his childhood.

   Yuuto's requests usually come from older women and working women who consult their stress with him or by having Yuuto cook for them.

   Keys: Asia, Argento, Peergae, Rias' peerage, peerage

   Asia Argento is one of the many female protagonists of High School DxD. She is a third-year high school student at Kuoh Academy in Class 3-B and is a girl with a very gentle heart who possesses a rare Sacred Gear, Twilight Healing, in her body that is capable of healing the wounds of Humans, Angels, Fallen Angels, and Devils alike. She is Rias Gremory's Bishop piece.

   Asia is a pretty young girl with long blonde hair and green eyes. Her hair flows all the way down to her back, with split bangs over her forehead and a single strand sticking out from the top and sloping backward.

   Asia is extremely shy, innocent and fairly inexperienced in things like socializing. Despite being reincarnated as a Devil, Asia still believes in God and follows his teachings such as praying to him and reading the Bible, which would usually result in her getting severe headaches. Even when she was still a human, she harbored no hate towards Devils and treated everyone equally, regardless of what they were. Azazel noted that her kindhearted nature forces her Sacred Gear to heal even enemies, as she is incapable of turning a blind eye to the suffering of others.

   Like Koneko, Asia usually receives jobs ranging from being an opponent at playing cards to wearing a cosplay for a photo shoot.

6. #6Gasperselective

   Keys: Vladi, Gasper, Peergae, Rias' peerage, peerage

   Gasper Vladi is a cross-dressing male Dhampir, a half-Vampire half-human but was turned into a Devil by Rias Gremory. He has the ability to stop time and is Rias' first Bishop piece.

   Gasper is an effeminate-looking male with platinum blond hair and pinkish-violet eyes. His hair is styled in short bob cut with several small fringes over his forehead, and he has pointed ears. Kiba describes him as looking like a beautiful girl.

   Originally a coward and a shut-in with a very shy personality, Gasper likes to wear female clothing, claiming that girls' clothes are cute. He also has a penchant for boxes, carrying one with him all the time.

   Gasper was born between the Vampire Lord Vladi and a human mother; the latter of whom died shortly after giving birth to Gasper, who was born as a mass of darkness which accidentally cursed his mother and several servants to death. Between the incredible fear of Gasper's true form from the higher ups, his uncontrollable Sacred Gear, Forbidden Balor View, and people's general prejudice towards the half-breed, Gasper grew up in isolation and abuse.

   He would meet Valerie Tepes and they would often play together; Valerie forcing Gasper to dress up as a girl which would lead to his cross-dressing habit. One day, Gasper worked up the courage to try to escape from the castle with Valerie's help and was shortly thereafter killed by Vampire hunters. Rias Gremory, who was in the area at the time, came upon the boy by chance and taking pity on him reincarnated him as one of her servants.

   Gasper usually does his work from his computer where he interacts with people who are bad at interacting with others but have a wish that they want to be granted by a Devil.

7. #7Sacred Gearsselective

   Keys: Sacred, Gears

   The original God of the Bible created the Sacred Gears as part of his system to enact miracles on Earth. Yuuto Kiba has stated that certain individuals with Sacred Gears have grown to become very powerful and influential and that a large number of the people who've had their names etched into history, were most likely Sacred Gear possessors.

   Sacred Gears varies from the common Twice Critical to the rare Sacred Gear Twilight Healing, with the only exception being the Longinus, which are all unique in their own way. There can be more than one Sacred Gear of the same type such as Blade Blacksmith. If a Sacred Gear is removed from the owner, they would die.

   Sacred Gears can have a variety of effects, such as Asia's Twilight Healing granting near-instantaneous healing and Siegfried's Twice Critical doubling the power of the user. Yuuto's Sword Birth, for example, can create Demon Swords imbued with different attributes; examples include creating a sword that absorbs holy energy, a sword that devours flame, and a sword that absorbs wind.

   Sacred Gears have an ultimate state of activation called the Balance Breaker which is the most powerful manifestation of the Sacred Gear. Once reached, the Balance Breaker can be entered again far more easily than the first time.

   An incomplete Balance Breaker can be reached by self-sacrifice on the part of the user. However, this sacrifice method does not count as a true activation of Balance Breaker. Reaching the Balance Breaker can be triggered by the feelings of its possessor. Balance Breaker is said to be have been never intended, and that it was a flaw in the system created by God.

   Kuoh Academy is one of the main settings.

   Not much is known about Kuoh Academy, other than the fact that it was originally an all-girls private school. At some point Kuoh Academy changed into a co-ed school and the new school building was constructed, although there are still more girls than boys studying at the school.

9. #9Evil Piecesselective

   The Evil Pieces, also known as the Devil's Pieces, are a set of 15 chess pieces given to High-class Devils to increase their ranks by reincarnating other beings into Devils.

   The Evil Pieces were created by Ajuka Beelzebub sometime during the 16th century using the crystals available in the Agreas Island to help replenish the number of Devils after the Great War which had caused the death of countless Devils. While many Devils were able to adapt to the Evil Pieces, the Old Satan Faction rejected the usage of the Evil Pieces, believing them to be a disgrace to Devils for reincarnating Humans and other races into Devils. The creation of the Evil Pieces eventually lead to the creation of the Rating Game.

   Evil Pieces are commonly given to Pure-blooded High-class Devils, so that they can gather servants of their own. Reincarnated Devils are also given the chance to receive Evil Pieces should they rise in rank and become a High-class or Ultimate-class Devil like Tannin and Rudiger Rosenkreutz.

   When a Devil receives the right to obtain the Evil Pieces they are required to go to the Satan's territory and touch a monument which functions as a replacement King Piece to register themselves as King. A Devil who declines Evil Pieces can apply for them later. Despite her promotion to High-class Devil, Kuroka was not awarded Evil Pieces, as the government’s top brass still considered her dangerous due to Nebiros taking part in her birth, in addition to killing her master.

   If a King wishes to trade a Piece with another King, a ritual must be performed. A trading-purpose magic circle must be drawn. The Kings stand at the side of the magic circle while their pieces stand in the centre of it. The Kings increase their auras while putting their hands forward and activate the written Devil symbols to circulate. The auras of everyone around them begin to glow and synchronize, bypassing the magic circle. With that, the ritual will end and the trade is completed in a simple manner. A trade can still occur even if one of the pieces of the other party has not been used. It is also possible to trade multiple pieces simultaneously, even if they come from different peerages.

   The Evil Pieces are identical to normal chess pieces in terms of appearance but will glow in accordance to the aura color of its users when in use.

   Based on the game of chess, there are a total of 15 pieces (1 Queen ♛, 2 Rooks ♜, 2 Bishops ♝, 2 Knights ♞, and 8 Pawns ♟) that are given to High-class Devils (King ♚) with a peerage. These pieces are used to reincarnate other beings into Devils and become servants of the High-class Devil.

   The reincarnation abilities of the Evil Pieces, however, are not absolute as they cannot reincarnate Gods or Buddhas into Devils even with a Mutation Piece. The recipients they're used on still retains features and abilities exclusive from their previous race.

   The Evil Pieces can reincarnate those who died recently, or anyone still living who chooses to be reincarnated willingly as was the case with Rossweisse, Xenovia, Bennia, Ruruko and Ingvild.

   Likewise, Evil Pieces can also be used on Pure Devils in servitude to their chosen masters to enhanced their own abilities such as Grayfia Lucifuge and Ravel Phenex.

   The creator of the Evil Pieces, Ajuka Beelzebub, has stated that there are many hidden secrets to the Evil Pieces but that he prefers to let the users figure them out for themselves. Currently some known unique traits that have been shown include:

   The Evil Pieces can reincarnate the spirits of Sacred Gears if they manifest themselves.

   The Evil Pieces can automatically appear in the King's hand when they find a suitable partner to join his/her Peerage.

   The strengths, talents, and skills of the being to be reincarnated plays a large role in determining how many pieces will be used for reincarnation. Different Evil Pieces cannot be used together. Evil Pieces can also be exchanged between high-class Devils with peerages.

   King pieces are rare pieces created in the early days of the Rating Games. Unlike the other pieces which grant special abilities, the King Piece simply boosts a person's power. However, the King piece's strengthening is anywhere from 10 to 100 times and more. There are restrictions to its use. One, the user cannot already have an Evil Piece(s) because the King piece would overlap with their current piece(s) and expose them to dangers. Two, the user can potentially die if they are too strong. There are only nine unused King Pieces in existence, but they were banned by the current government from use for fear that Devils would use it to pursue evil desires.

   Pawns are worth 1 Pawn each. The traits of Pawns is the ability to promote into a Queen, Rook, Knight, or Bishop in enemy territory or with the permission of their King (as seen when {{user}} asked Rias for permission to promote)

10. #10Familiarselective

    Familiars are monsters and supernatural beings who have been magically bound to a Devil as a servant or ally.On the night of a full Moon, Devils will go to a special forest and, with the guidance of a Familiar Master, capture and bind a familiar they find suitable.

    Familiars are considered a basic requirement for Devils. They could assist their masters in various tasks, be used for information gathering and relaying messages, as well as perform any other odd jobs that their masters could think of. Devils may also possess more than one familiar, with Akeno being the only present example. Familiars are shown to have different abilities depending on their species. For example, Asia's Dragon familiar acts as her personal bodyguard. Devils may summon their familiars to them at any given time.

    There do not appear to be any specific duties that familiars are supposed to perform, though Rias has stated they can be used to bring information or carry messages. Mostly, they have been shown performing janitorial work and odd jobs for their masters.

    On the night of a full Moon, Devils will go to a special forest and, with the guidance of a Familiar Master, capture and bind a familiar they find suitable.

    The Devils use a hierarchical system that is split into four different ranks. The ranking here refers to the hereditary title given to Devils base on their classes and clans and reflect on strength.

    Ultimate Class: This class was the highest class a Devil could attain by either training or being born with great power (until the creation of the Special-class Devil rank). As a Devil comes into this class, they gain a rank in the Underworld as Satan, Great King, King, Archduke, Archduchess, Duke, Duchess, Prince, or Princess.

    High Class: This class belongs to Middle Class Devils who usually live in one of the High-Class Devil's territories, or to reincarnated Devils who have passed the Middle-Class promotion test. Once a Devil has attained this rank, they are given one of the following titles: Baronet, Baronetess, Knight, or Dame.

    Middle class: This class belongs to most younger Pure-Blooded Devils from the 72 Pillars or the Extra Demon clans, who have yet to master their power, or to strong reincarnated Devils who have risen in rank. Once a Devil has attained this rank, they are given one of the following titles: Marquis, Marchioness, Margrave, Margravine, Count, Countess, Viscount, Viscountess, Baron, or Baroness.

    Low class: The weakest class who are usually reincarnated Devils or commoners. They are usually part of a High-Class Devil's peerage or serve one of the clans. Low-Class Devils can promote themselves to higher rankings depending on their performance.

    There are three different ways to raise one's ranking: Doing Devil jobs by granting the client's wish. This includes having a high number of contracts completed with high-quality rewards. A Devil's contracts will garner points over time, but it is a gradual process unless the human customer is someone with great power and influence. This is considered to be the slowest method. A promotion through contracts are seen as more of a tradition.

    Obtaining great achievement in times of crisis or situations. This includes showing exceptional ability or skill in combat. By defeating high-ranked enemies of the Devils, such as leaders of the Angels or Fallen Angels, a Devil can be rewarded. This is the fastest method, However, this route is unlikely in the current stalemate without a full-scale war.

    The last method is by doing well in Rating Games. This includes earning high points, public esteem, and opinion in official Rating Games. This is the modern path of ascent in Devil society, as it was designed to promote and train new powerful Devils. The Rating Game allows reincarnated Devils to hone and show off their skill and abilities against others in a controlled non-lethal environment. Performing well in the Rating Game raises reputation and leads to promotion. Some of the Top Rankers in the Rating Games have all reached Ultimate-Class, With the 7th ranker being the highest-ranked reincarnated Devil. This is by far the best method to raise one's own ranking.

    Once a Low-Class Devil has earned the right to raise their ranking, they must first be tested before actually gaining the position. Not everyone succeeds in these tests, but they can try as many times as they choose, as the permission does not normally expire. The Middle-Class promotion test has three parts that are modeled after the tests in the Human world since a majority of the Devils who taking the promotion tests are reincarnated Devils (former humans). The first part is a written report that addresses the theme of aim and ambitions. The second part is a written test involving the history and government of the Underworld. The third is a practical where an individual faces off against another participant from the test in a one-on-one fight. During this battle, Pawns are given special permission that allows them to promote themselves as if they were in enemy territory.

    High-Class Devils and above are allowed to have their own "peerage" which consists of members who represent each piece in a game of Chess while for reincarnated Devils that have reached Ultimate-Class, they will receive the right to choose a part of the Underworld as their territory. There is actually no conflict when a Low-Class Devil starts his own group while still being a part of another peerage after becoming High-Class. When a Devil reaches High-Class, they receive a set of Evil Pieces to start their own group. However, even after going independent, Devils are still obliged to fight as underlings whenever their master has a Rating Game.if

12. #12High-Class Devil Promotion Ceremonyselective

    When a Devil goes to their High-Class promotion ceremony at the ceremonial hall, that Devil and those with them are escorted in limousines under strict guard. Several security cars surround the limousines meaning the Devil becoming a High-Class Devil is treated like a VIP. At the ceremony itself, the Devil getting promoted stands in front of an altar (a reincarnated devil stands with their master) and the Satan in charge reads what is written on their certificate which states the reasons for their promotion. The Satan proclaims them as a High-Class Devil and they kneel down on one knee to receive their certificate with words of acceptance. They display their certificate to the audience to which they applaud. Next comes the crowning ritual. For a reincarnated Devil, they face their master at the altar, get down on one knee, and their master places a crown upon their head with another round of applause meaning the ritual is complete.

    For the final part, the Satan stands on the altar once again summoning a stone monument that shines in black which floats in the air. The monument is made from the same material as the Evil Pieces. The Devil getting promoted envelopes their hand in their aura and touches the monument. Their heart instantly makes a large beat and the monument shines crimson, showing their handprint for a moment and then the monument returns to normal. Their registration as a King is complete and they are handed a small box containing their 15 Evil Pieces for making their own peerage. As such, the ritual is done with the most crucial part of the ceremony. What comes after this is the words of congratulation from the guest which is read by the host of the ceremony and after the newly promoted High-Class Devil leaves the ceremonial hall, the ceremony is over.

    The 72 Pillars (72柱, Nanajūni Hashira, referring to the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia) are a list of 72 Devil noble families who descended from the first generation of High Class Devils created by the Original Lucifer out of his wife Lilith such as Zekram Bael and Runeas Gremory. Each clan possessing dozens of armies serving under them. After the Great War, however, every clan lost a majority of their armies and 40 clans from the 72 Pillars even faced extinction, with only 32 clans remaining (in reality, there are more than 32 houses that are still active but have lost some of their statuses in the 72 Pillars due to having mixed heritage).

14. #14Extra Demonsselective

    Extra Demons: are the houses of top-class Devils who are not a part of the 72 Pillars. Currently, most of the Extra Demons have secluded themselves from the current Devil society, not wanting to involve themselves with the government. Devils from the Extra Demons who involve themselves with the current Devil Government will have to break all ties with their households such as with the case of Kuisha Abaddon, Bedeze Abaddon (the 3rd ranking champion in the Rating Games) and Roygun Belphegor (the 2nd ranking champion in the Rating Games).

    The only known houses are the House of Lucifuge (where Grayfia and Euclid comes from), the House of Abaddon (where Kuisha and Bedeze comes from), the House of Belphegor (where Roygun comes from) and the House of Nebiros. Mephisto Pheles is the only Extra Demon that doesn't have a clan.

    A majority of the Extra Demons serve under one of original Satans, such as the House of Lucifuge, Satanachia, Agaliarept, Fleurety, Sargatanas, and Nebiros serving the Satan, Lucifer. Rudiger Rosenkreutz is revealed to be a Bishop from the House of Mammon.

    Lilith's Children, also known as Unknown Devils, refers to the group of Artificial Devils created by the Greek God of the Dead; Hades, using the body of the mother of all Devils; Lilith and the knowledge of the Book of Lucifer, which contains the technique that the First Lucifer used to create the 72 Pillars.

    All Devils have enhanced physical abilities such as superhuman strength, endurance, and enhanced sense such as sight and hearing; in addition to being able to see clearly in the dark as creatures of the night. Devils are able to fly through using their bat-like wings, which are capable of retracting into their backs as if disappearing entirely. They also possess a passive ability called "Language", which allows normal people listening to them to hear it in the language they're most familiar with and vice versa. According to Rias, Devils are also immune to being sunburned.

    Devils also wield Demonic Power, which is described as letting them control phenomena, letting a Devil using their demonic power to create various Elements ranging from Fire, Water, and Lightning. To use Demonic Powers, a Devil must first acquire the power of imagination and the power to create, as well as good sense for either. Devils who have higher Demonic Power are able to develop resilience against all manner of Holy-based objects and weapons such as Light Weapons, whereas those with lesser will be eliminated.

    One of the Four Great Satan or other Satan-Class Devils are easily able to destroy Japan several times over using their powers, which Sona noted in Volume 4 commenting about Serafall's "glitter." It is unknown how powerful Ultimate-Class Devils' attacks are, but since most High-Class Devils are capable of destroying an entire mountain using a demonic blast, it could be hinted that their immense power can cause greater damage than that.

    Members of the 72 Pillars and Extra Demons, which consist of Pure-Blooded Devil nobles can inherit special innate abilities unique to their clan, though occasionally the children of the members who marries out of the clan into another one would also inherit their abilities, becoming a common practice among the remaining pillars. Those from the Phenex has the Immortality, in addition to powerful Fire and Wind-based powers; those from the Bael and Gremory who were related or born to Venelana Gremory (née Bael) has the Power of Destruction; and those from the Abaddon inherits the Hole. All of these unique abilities appears to originate from the progenitor of the clan such as the First Bael Head, Zekram Bael. All the Pure-Blooded Devil nobles who don't inherit such powers are looked down upon, even by members of their own family.

    Devils also have the ability to cast Magic, having developed their own system of Demonic Magic powered by Demonic Power. Examples being the ability to bind and later summon a Familiar. The most common usage would likely be the magic circle used by Devils for travel, and especially to make contracts.

    High-Class Devils are able to gain Peerages, rule over other Devils depending on their family's rank and powers, and can have up to 15 "servants", which are represented by each piece in a chess game (Rook, Knight, Pawn, etc.). The High-Class Devil takes the position of "King". Lower-Class Devils are often looked down upon, and usually, serve a Devil of higher authority. High-Class Devils also have the ability to reincarnate Humans and other races into Devils through the Evil Pieces system

17. #17Devil Weaknessesselective

    Keys: Devil Weaknesses, Light, Sacred Gears, God

    A common weakness for all Devils is that they cannot go near/get involved with anything that has to do with the Biblical God, as they will suffer nasty side effects (headaches, immense pain, etc.), as seen when Issei couldn't go near the Church when he was talking to Asia, or when he tried to pray but only ended up collapsing from the pain soon after. They are vulnerable to holy objects such as crucifixes, holy water, and the Bible, and can get killed easily by Holy Swords and Sacred Gears with divine properties, such as Blade Blacksmith and the True Longinus (Asia's Twilight Healing, however, is a notable exception). These effects are caused by the system put in place by the Biblical God, which was being kept up by Michael and is now being kept up by Gabriel, and only she has the power to change the system.

    They are also susceptible to Light which significantly drains them of their energy once hit (in Volume 1, Issei comments that sunlight also appears to drain him of his energy, reducing him to normal human levels, at least at that time). Also, intense light, such as the Light-based weapons used by Angels and Fallen Angels and the Light Swords used by Exorcists, can severely wound, if not kill, a Devil. Devils with higher Demonic Power, however, can develop a certain degree of resistance to light.

    Devils can also be infected with a cold that only Devils are susceptible to as seen when Issei and Saji came down with it, which made them unable to move. The Devil's face turns red and they gain a high temperature along with blurry vision.

    The population of Devils consisted of the original Four Great Satans and the Devils created by the Mother of all Devils; Lilith, which consisted of various Devil noble families from the 72 Pillars and Extra Demons as well as the commoner Devils who live in the territories of the Devil noble families who are subservient to the Original Satans. Countless devils died as a result of the Great War, with Lilith nearly dying from the strain of artifically reproducing too much Devils. During the Great War, 40 clans of the 72 Pillars were destroyed in the conflict as numerous High-class Devils of the 72 Pillars were killed along with their soldiers.

    It is noted that Devils have exceptionally long lifespans described as almost infinite, but cannot reproduce easily as the rate of pregnancy among Devils is very low, sometimes requiring would-be-parents hundreds of years to produce a single child and having more then 2 children is considered rare among Devils.

    Due to the excessive loss of population, the Evil Pieces system was created to replenish the number of Devil by reincarnating other species into Devils, with humans being the most common choice among the species.

    In recent times, many High-class Devil have started reincarnating humans who possess Sacred Gears as their Devil servants in order to obtain the strength of the Sacred Gears in service of the Devils. As a result of the low population, it is common for male High-class Devils to have harems of multiple women in order to have a greater chance of producing children.

    The Four Great Satans were the original rulers of the Underworld and leaders of the Devils. They were named Lucifer, Beelzebub, Leviathan, and Asmodeus.

    At some point in the past, the four original Satans desiring world domination led the Devils against God and the Angels in Heaven as well as Azazel and the Fallen Angels in the Great War, the latter of whom retreated prior. The Four Great Satans eventually died in the Great War after more than half of the 72 Pillars as well as a majority of the armies of Devils that serve the High-Class Devil Clans of the 72 Pillars were wiped out.

    After their deaths in the Great War, a group of the descendants of the Four Great Satans intended to carry on their legacy by gathering the strong supporters of the original Four Great Satans and finish what they started, the Great War to realize the world domination ambition of the Original Satans. Their intentions, however, were opposed by a certain group of Devils, the Anti-Satan Faction, who wanted to ensure the survival of the Devils as a species, thus disapproving of the continuation of the Great War.

    This dissension eventually caused a civil war to break out between the Devils which ultimately lead to the defeat of the Original Satans' descendants. Following the defeat of the descendants who were forced to retreat to the back part of the Underworld, their names became titles for the new rulers of the Devils while the Original Satans became known as the Old Satans.

    The Satan positions where then given to Sirzechs Lucifer (of the Gremory Clan), Serafall Leviathan (of the Sitri Clan), Ajuka Beelzebub (of the Astaroth Clan), and Falbium Asmodeus (of the Glasya-Labolas Clan). Four Devils who were born with immense power, equivalent or superior to the original four and were chosen for the Satans' positions despite not carrying the blood of the original Satans.

    Three of the descendants of the original Satans – Katerea Leviathan, Shalba Beelzebub, and Creuserey Asmodeus – have allied with the Khaos Brigade's Old Satan Faction, while Vali Lucifer formed his own team in the Khaos Brigade. The last known remaining descendant of the Four Great Satans, Rizevim Livan Lucifer, the son of the original Lucifer and Vali's grandfather, eventually became leader of the new Khaos Brigade, Qlippoth before being killed by Fafnir.

    The Satan Clans are Devil royal families whom are biological descendants of the original Satans. Due to most members's tyrannical arrogance in their royal lineage which caused them to scorn and oppressed all other Devils even pure blooded High Class Devil nobles of the 72 Pillars and Extra Demons, disregarding them as not true Devils along with their intention to force them into restarting the Great War, most members of the Satan Clans were exterminated by the Anti-Satan Faction in the Devil Civil War, while some surviving members form the Old Satan Faction in hopes of overthrowing the current Devil government.

    Most Pure-Blood Devils looks the same as Humans, albeit with one pair of black bat-like wings that can be hidden at will. However, those from the Phenex Household instead possesses bird-like wings made from fire. Devils are able to use their Demonic Powers to appear much younger than their physical age, for example Venelana Gremory looks as if she were the same age as her youngest child, Rias.

    The are some Devils who appears to have the characteristics of creatures and monsters such as members of the extinct House of Vepar being Devils who appears akin to merpeople, members of the House of Forneus having the head of a sea monster like an anglerfish, Zephyrdor Glasya-Labolas has pointy elf-like ears, and Roygun Belphegor has two horns on her head.

    Some Pure-Blooded Devils has multiple pairs of bat-like wings, however, unlike Angels and Fallen Angels who can gain multiple wings over time, this is limited to those who are descended from the original Satans; such as Vali Lucifer, a Devil/Human hybrid, revealing his relation to the Original Lucifer by revealing his multiple bat wings. Rizevim Livan Lucifer has shown to have twelve bat wings as well as Tsufaame Tereaku Leviathan, and Ingvild Leviathan who has four pairs of wings.

    Reincarnated Devils can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, such as the case with Tannin, a former Dragon King, Koneko Toujou, a Nekomata, and Enku (a Qilin).

    Devils are beings that originated from the Underworld created by the Original Lucifer using the body of his wife Lilith in order to create a military force to destroy God and his Angels, as well as to realize his personal ambition for world domination which consisting of the High-Class Devil nobles of the 72 Pillars and Extra Demons and the countless armies of Middle and Low Class Devil soldiers under them. The total life span of a Devil is approximately 10,000 years.

    The Devils were originally ruled by the Four Great Satans prior to their death in the Great War. Following the end of the Great War, the descendants of the original Satans apart from Rizevim wanted to continue the Great War but were faced with opposition by other Devils, most prominently the Bael clan, who assumed authority after the death of their leaders. This started a Civil War between the Devils with the descendants of the original Satans losing the war and a new government was formed among the Devils. The new government then appoints four new Satans through strength and accomplishment in the civil war.

    After the formation of the new Devil government, Ajuka Beelzebub developed the Evil Pieces system to help replenish the decreased armies of the Devils, eventually creating the Rating Games. The new Devil government though reformed still function based on aristocracy with the Great King Faction holding more political power and influence than the current Satans.

    Pure-Blooded Devils are pure Devils such as the original Four Great Satans and the original Devils created by the Mother of all Devils; Lilith, including the first generation aristocrat Devils of the 72 Pillars and Extra Demons, each who ruled their own domain in the Underworld along with their Pure-Blooded descendants. Each clan of 72 Pillars has a unique ability that is specific to their clan which originated from their progenitor, such as the Bael's Power of Destruction or Phenex's Immortality, as the descendants of the clans are born with such unique abilities which occasionally get passed to other clans as Pure-Blooded High Class Devils interbreed with each other.

    Reincarnated Devils are created by High-class Devils using Evil Pieces to reincarnate other species into Devils; who serve the High-class Devil who is their King. Reincarnated Devils also appear to have much higher fertility than Pure-Blooded Devils.

    Stray Devils are Reincarnated Devils who have diverted away from their masters for their own selfish desires. Without their masters to keep their powers in check, they become a great threat if their powers go beyond their control. The Devils take this case very seriously, and any Devil who becomes a Stray will usually be killed on the spot

    Mixed Heritage Devils are Devils either born between a Pure-Blooded Devil and a Reincarnated Devil, or between two Reincarnated Devils. They could not be considered as Half Devils due to both their parents being Devils, and are not considered Pure-Blooded Devils due to their diluted blood as High-Class Devils look down on Reincarnated Devils. Possible famous Mixed Heritage Devil would be Coriana Andrealphus, which could explain why the Andrealphus is stated to be extinct.

    Half Devils are Devils of mixed heritage created by the interbreeding of Devils and other species, most notably Humans. Due to the Pure-Blooded Devils pride and their obsession with pureblood purity, the Half Devil descendants of the Pure-Blooded Devil clans are often scorned and looked down upon. However, due to their mixed blood they gain the abilities of both species, as Half Devils with Human heritage can manifest Sacred Gears. Two famous Half Devils are Vali Lucifer and Ingvild Leviathan, who are the half-Human/half Devil descendants of the original Satan clans, in addition to being the possessors of the Longinus Sacred Gears.

    The Underworld, also known as the Netherworld, is a prominent and important location and the home of the Devils and Fallen Angels, and by extension the Gods of Hell.

    The Underworld is roughly the same size as the Human world, but with a much larger landmass, as there are no oceans, just lakes. The sky was originally purple during both the day and night, but the current Four Great Satans adjusted the flow of time to match it in the human world for the sake of the reincarnated Devils. They reproduced an artificial moon using Demonic Power and made the night's darkness the same as the human world.

    The Underworld was originally split into two regions: The Devils' Region and the Fallen Angels' Region, which ended after the creation of the peace treaty between the leaders of the Three Factions.

    Heaven is a location. There are multiple Heavens depending on different mythologies.

    Christian Heaven The home of Angels, as well as the former home of the Fallen Angels, and the God of the Bible, before his death. It has a system to help prevent Angels from falling. When activated, it surrounds the Angel in what looks like a barrier filled with Angel symbols.

    Heaven resembles a place sitting above the clouds with a bright white ceiling high overhead. It is guarded by a large gate and has a white stone path and stone buildings, which appear to be floating.

    Heaven is divided into seven regions, or "Heavens".

    Fallen Angels are Angels that have fallen from the grace of God, due to having "impure thoughts" that divert them from the teachings of the God in the Bible. The leaders of Grigori were tempted by humans and had fallen after having sex with them.

    Despite being cast out of Heaven, Fallen Angels and their subordinates have been known to occupy churches and use them as bases. However, they go out of their way to destroy all of the religious icons in these churches in the process out of spite for their former leader.

    Currently, the Fallen Angels have the smallest population among the Three Factions.

27. #27Fallen Angel Appearanceselective

    Fallen Angels have an appearance similar to their Angel counterparts with their wings; however, their wings are colored black as opposed to the Angels' white wings. Also, because they have been cast out of Heaven by God, they also lack the halos above their heads. They are also often seen wearing dark-colored clothes, mainly pertaining to the colors black and violet.

    Like their Angel counterparts, the power of a Fallen Angel also contribute to how many wings they have. For example, Azazel, the former leader of the Fallen Angels, has six pairs of wings (twelve altogether) which justify his power. This extends to half-Fallen Angels as Akeno gained more fallen angel wings as her power increased. The blackness of the wings of each Fallen Angel is also different. Azazel, for example, has jet-black wings with feathers that have the color of everlasting darkness.

    Female Fallen Angels possess seductive bodies in order to seduce men. This trait carries over to half-Fallen Angels, with Akeno's body considered particularly seductive.

    Although they have been cast out from Heaven, Fallen Angels retain the ability to use Holy Power and create Light Weapons. This type of weaponry is extremely harmful and poisonous to Devils. Fallen Angels have the ability of flight via their feathered wings, their wings have also been shown to retract into their backs as if they've completely disappeared. The Fallen Angels can use the feathers of their wings as projectiles to pierce their opponents, with the feathers being as hard as steel and are also capable of using their wings for both offense and defense.

    Like Devils and Angels, Fallen Angels have a unique ability which allows them to communicate with different people from around the world without the language barriers. All Fallen Angels also have increased physical abilities, such as superhuman strength, endurance, and speed. One of their known weaknesses is that they receive damage like devils do if they pray to God.

    Unlike Angels and Devils, who require the use of a respective Brave Saints or Evil Pieces to replenish their numbers, Fallen Angels can replenish their number of "pure" Angels simply by tempting the remaining pure Angels in Heaven to join them. It is unknown if it works in the opposite direction, where the Fallen Angels can redeem themselves via selfless and righteous acts to rejoin Heaven. They can also increase their numbers through childbirth, as with the case of Baraqiel with Akeno through Akeno's mother.

    Fallen Angels, like other factions, have their own system of magic and spells. This includes a method to wipe the memories of large numbers of people, as shown when all of Issei's friends forgot about Yuuma, or when Azazel wiped the memories of the girls of Kuoh Academy.

    The Fallen Angel population consists of Angels who fell after being tempted by desires and having sex with humans, rebelling against the Biblical God, and stealing the knowledge of Heaven. Fallen Angels are capable of interbreeding among themselves and even other species: Akeno, being the result of Baraqiel, and his human wife, Shuri; and Shemhazai's unnamed child, who he had with his devil wife.

    During the Great War, similar to the Devils and Angels, the Fallen Angels lost portion of their numbers, having the smallest numbers in the Three Factions.

    Issei Hyoudou (兵ひょう藤どう 一誠いっせい, Hyōdō Issei) is the main male protagonist of High School DxD. He is a third-year high school student at Kuoh Academy in Class 3-B and a member of the school's "Perverted Trio", a trio of the most perverted men in the entire student body. He likes the other girls but love’s Rias

    Issei is the Pawn of Rias Gremory's Peerage and a member of the Occult Research Club. After the Evil Dragon War, he was promoted to the rank of a High-Class Devil, becoming the King of his own independent peerage, and is one step closer to fulfilling his dream of having a harem and becoming a "Harem King".

    Due to his possession of the Longinus; the Boosted Gear, which hosts the Welsh Dragon, Ddraig, Issei is the direct rival of Vali Lucifer, who is the host of the Vanishing Dragon; Albion, who is Ddraig's archrival.

    Issei is a high school student of average height with short spiky brown hair, with two short locks of hair behind his head, and light brown eyes. Following his training with Tannin, he gained a more muscular and toned build.

    While he has worn various outfits throughout the series, his most commonly worn outfit is the Kuoh Academy boys' school uniform, which consists of a blazer (more commonly black, although in other media is shown with a tinge of purple or grey, with white accents) over a white, long-sleeved dress shirt with black highlights with a black ribbon on the collar, matching black pants, and brown dress shoes. However, Issei's uniform differs in the fact that he wears a red T-shirt underneath his open dress shirt and blazer, and wears blue and white sneakers in place of dress shoes. Even by his own admittance Issei is an unintelligent and straightforward individual, with his tremendously perverted and lascivious nature being the greatest characteristic of his personality. Issei easily indulges in lewd fantasies, being obsessed with female breasts and a desire for a harem, traits he openly admits and makes no effort to hide, a characteristic that he is, in fact, proud of. This has caused him to be instantly labeled as a pervert among the girls of Kuoh Academy and has gained him notoriety for being one of the members of Kuoh Academy's Perverted Trio.

    Despite his pervertedness, Issei is courageous, selfless and unwaveringly determined to protect those who are important to him, despite almost dying by the hands of his opponents.

    Age 18

    Dragon Shot (魔力弾ドラゴンショット, Doragon Shotto): One of Issei's signature moves, where he releases a beam of concentrated Demonic Power. It is often used in tandem with Boosted Gear to increase its destructive potential, once destroying a mountain. When enhanced by the Boosted Gear Scale Mail, Issei's Dragon Shot became powerful enough to casually "erase" a mountain, and when enraged it overwhelmed a full powered demonic power blast by Diodora, a High Class Devil enhanced by Ophis's snake. Issei can go into his limit break mode upgrading his strength with a crimson like dragon armor.

    Boosted Gear (赤龍帝の籠手ブーステッド･ギア, Būsuteddo Gia): Issei's Sacred Gear and main weapon, among all the original 13 Longinus, which holds the Welsh Dragon, Ddraig's soul, making it a Mid-Tier Longinus. A left-handed red gauntlet that doubles his powers every 10 seconds until he reach his limit, holding the potential to kill god if mastered. He later gained the ability to Transfer the multiplied power into a person or item, even parts like his eyes for enhanced vision. Issei later awakened Penetrate, letting him bypass all defenses (save the targets baseline physical durability) like Rizevim's Sacred Gear Canceler or barriers. He later developed a technique of applying Penetrate to his eyes to see through women's clothing. Dragon Aura: Due to possessing Boosted Gear, then having his left arm turned into a dragon, Issei has a small amount of dragon aura. Training with Tannin increased it, to the point of dealing minimal damage while using Boosted Gear. After gaining a new body, made from a combination of Great Red's flesh and Ophis' power, it became more natural, described as being dominant. Pailingual (乳語翻訳パイリンガル, Pairingaru): Issei's third signature move, which allows him to "talk" to women's breasts after creating a "space". As such, it is a useful move as it allows him to learn his opponents' plans by asking their breasts, however, complaints from females from other peerages caused Rias to ban it in Rating Games. Dress Break (洋服崩壊ドレス・ブレイク, Doresu Bureiku): Issei's second signature move, which he mainly uses against women. As its name suggests, this move allows him to "strip" woman by first coming into contact with them, concentrating his demonic power, then snapping his fingers to activate one of two effects. He can fly,has immense mobility,Speed,Strength and durability, and a expert close combatant and sword fighter.

    Largely residing in the human world, Humans are the most common species with the largest population in the series. After the Great War had exhausted all Three Factions, the Angels, Fallen Angels, and Devils all had to rely on Humans to continue their generation.

    The Khaos Brigade's Hero Faction consists of humans that are descendants of heroes, and each has either a Sacred Gear/Longinus, Holy Sword, Demon Sword, or any combination of the three.

    There are also the Magicians, Humans who have learned Magic from other religions or factions. It is said that the current Magic system used by the Humans was developed by Merlin Ambrosius, the legendary wizard from Arthurian legend. Some of these well known Magicians are Georg, Le Fay Pendragon, Lavinia Reni and Walburga.

    There are also Humans who have been artificially created for certain purposes. The Sigurd Institution were a group who were trying to create the "true descendant of Sigurd" and succeeded with the creation of Siegfried.

33. #33Contractselective

    Devils need Humans to sign contracts with them, which increases their power and standing in the Underworld. However, in order to get the Human to sign the contract, the Devil must first fulfill their end of the bargain. These tasks can border on the insane, as Koneko Toujou is shown to have cosplayed for some of her contractor's.

    A Magician and Devil can also form a pact together, which can be used to make a name for both the Devil and Magician.

    Almost all Humans are recognized as being the weakest among all the races around the world in various regards such as physical abilities; some lacking the same powers as species from the Three Factions. However, some of the Humans through training such as Exorcists and famous Heroes have trained themselves to be able to match supernatural beings.

    Some Humans can attain special powers through strict training or received blessing from powerful beings such as the Gods. One of the examples being the Five Principal Clans, supernatural power users from Shintoism able to manipulate Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water) their clan represents, undergo spiritual training, as well as their Clan Heirs becoming the hosts of the Five Sacred Beasts. Another example being Vasco Strada, an Exorcist who trained himself to achieve Holy Fist.

    There are also some Humans who, rather than descendants, have inherited the "Spirits" or "Souls" of deceased Humans, usually heroes and historical figures. Examples of these individuals include Jeanne, Heracles, Perseus, Connla, and several other characters. The exact details of whether this influences their abilities, or how they are aware of being inheritors is unknown.

    Due to the Biblical God, Humans are the only species able to be born with Sacred Gears (even if only half-Human), however races such as Fallen Angels from Grigori can steal them from their hosts using a special ritual, resulting in the host's death. Humans who master their Sacred Gears to some extent can defeat High-Class Devils and monsters, on the other hand, those who have Longinus Sacred Gears can potentially fight against God-class beings.

    Some rare Humans are born able to wield either Holy or Demonic Swords, which are powerful weapons capable of defeating beings such as High-Ranked Devils and Angels. Based off the swords in question, Humans are also afforded unique abilities such as Caliburn, which granted Arthur Pendragon spatial manipulation.

    Due to their declining numbers, as well as seeking powerful servants, Humans are often sought for reincarnation using Evil Pieces and Brave Saints (it is more centered around Christian believers). Humans attains all the same powers as Devils and Angels, in addition to maintaining their Sacred Gears, as well as still maintaining their traits in wielding Holy and Demonic Swords. Some examples includes, Issei who maintains his Boosted Gear, as well as Xenovia Quarta, who maintains her Light Attribute to wield Durandal and Excalibur; both are reincarnated Devils. And Dulio Gesualdo who retained Zenith Tempest after being reincarnated into an Angel.

    Humans can also learn how to use Magic through researching the Demonic Powers of Devils, using their own rules and formulas to cause and control supernatural phenomena; instead of using their imagination and the power to create such as Devils. Most of the Humans who are capable of using this are referred to as Magicians, who often forms their own organizations to research and increase their magical knowledge. Magicians also forms pacts with Devils for protection and knowledge in exchange for a Magician's knowledge and techniques. As such, Magicians making a pact with famous and powerful Devils is considered a mark of status among them since it will bring them great fortune and success.

35. #35The Dimensional Gapselective

    The Dimensional Gap is the gap that exists between the three worlds (Earth, Heaven, and the Underworld) and is considered a void world. The Khaos Brigade uses the Dimensional Gap as a means of traveling. It is the birthplace of Ophis, the Infinite Dragon God. The Dimensional Gap was originally the home of Ophis, but was occupied by Great Red until his death. The Dimensional Gap is currently being occupied by the Fierce God Regalzeva of Evie Etoulde and his army.

    Floating within the Dimensional Gap are the Gogmagog, Golems created and later abandoned by the Ancient Gods. Aside from the one recovered by the Vali Team, all of them are inactive.

    It's been said that nothing can survive within the Dimensional Gap without Magic, Demonic Power or some other protection. Anyone without such protection dies within a matter of seconds after being exposed to the "nothingness" within the Dimensional Gap, though despite this claim an unprotected & unconscious Asia Argento was within this supposedly destructive realm for at least several minutes before being rescued in perfect health.

    In Slash/Dog, there is a magical domain known as the Land of Oz created within the Dimensional Gap, a country filled with Magicians. Within this realm there are a total of four castles in the North, South, East and West centered around the Emerald City where the Magicians' boss; Oz resides.

    The Dimensional Gap is an endless void, where in every direction, there is a mix of iridescent colors.

    The Gremory Clan is one of the remaining Devil Clans of the 72 Pillars and one of the highest-ranking (ranking at Duke) and famous Devil families. The next head is Rias Gremory, followed up by Sirzechs Lucifer.

    The house that produced the current "Lucifer", members of the Gremory Clan are characterized by their red hair color and their powerful Demonic Powers. The Gremory Clan are beings with extraordinary affection among the Devils. As such, they do not discriminate in who they associate with, including who they choose as servants. The Gremory Clan has a territory that is about the same size as Honshu in Japan, containing a vast number of castles for its kin. A very rich territory, it also has a developed industry.

    In the clan's territory is an area with a well shaded forest and a mountain range filled with high mountains. One of these mountains is taller than the highest mountain in Japan, Mount Fuji, with an elevation extending 4000 meters. There is also a huge lake in this area where Lilitifa Vepar has taken residence

    Aside from their crimson hair, the members of the Gremory Clan are noted as having powerful demonic powers, and refined control over it, as seen by Zeoticus, his children and grandson. In addition to this, because Venelana married into the clan, the more recent, younger members have inherited the Power of Destruction, as shown by Sirzechs, Rias, and Millicas Gremory.

    The clan symbol of the Gremory consists of a rose encased in a circular shape and is crimson in color.

    The place of ruling for the Gremory clan. It has an underground treasure storage which is the size of several Tokyo Domes (1,509.81 sq ft or 2,013.08 sq ft), divided into sections that stores the payments of the Gremory group for their Devil's work, as well as treasures handed down by the Gremory ancestors. All the treasures are ranked and are sorted by types. There is also a huge theatre where the entrance has a luxurious, decorated door and inside, a giant screen with a 1st floor and lights. The theatre is used to entertain guests; to present something to the audience but it is only used once every few years.

    During the Rating Game match against Sona Sitri, Rias demonstrated the ability to compress her power of destruction into smaller orb bullets, with each being the size of a softball, firing them like a machine gun, which each shot having high intensity and high purity of destruction.

    Rias developed Extinguished Star due to absorbing {{user}}'s dragon aura. While fighting against Grendel, Rias used Extinguished Star as finishing move to reduce the Evil Dragon to just half his head.

    Extinguished Star, also known as the Demonic Star of Extinction, is Rias' one-hit kill move developed due to the change in her Demonic Powers, caused from taking in {{user}}'s Dragon power. A technique where she compresses Power of Destruction into a giant of destruction sphere that has crimson and black aura able to eliminate anything inside of its path. Extinguished Star was powerful enough to almost entirely destroy Grendel, one of the Evil Dragons who was hailed as having the hardest scales, and was someone that their entire group's main offensive members had trouble dealing with.

    However, due to her inexperience, Rias required a considerable amount of time to prepare this move, and needs her servants to guard and protect her until its finished. Also, while the giant sphere is slow, it also possesses a strong power of attraction capable of pulling enemies present in its effective field into it.

39. #39Millicas Gremoryselective

    Millicas Gremory is next-in-line to the Gremory Clan's leadership after his aunt. He is the son of Sirzechs Lucifer and Grayfia Lucifuge, the nephew of Rias Gremory, and the grandson of Zeoticus and Venelana Gremory. Although his father was Lucifer of the Four Great Satans, his title does not apply to Millicas, as it was only required for Sirzechs and is not an inherent position, thus Millicas' family name is Gremory.

    Millicas is a cute young boy with short crimson hair inherited from his father, Sirzechs, and red eyes which he inherited from his mother, Grayfia.

    Millicas is shown to be a well-mannered boy. Despite his young age, Millicas is shown to be very responsible even planning about his future peerage. He also prefers being referred as "Millicas" rather than "Millicas-sama" by the people close to him.

40. #40Grayfia Lucifugeselective

    Grayfia Lucifuge is the wife and Queen piece of Sirzechs Lucifer and the mother of Millicas Gremory. She is also the older sister of Euclid Lucifuge and the sister-in-law of Rias Gremory. Grayfia is known as the Strongest Queen and the Silver-Haired Queen of Annihilation.

    Grayfia is a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous body, appearing to be in her early twenties with back-length silver hair that features a long braid on each side with small blue bows at the ends, while the rest is let down which ends in twin braids and grey eyes.

    In most of her appearances, she is seen wearing a blue and white French maid outfit with long sleeves and a white maid headband over her head with red lipstick as a cosmetic accessory.

    As a Devil noble and the former heiress of the Lucifuge Clan, Grayfia is very strict and serious with a calm, dignified and refined personality, with perfect etiquette.

    Despite her serious personality, Grayfia is a very kind and wise young woman who deeply loves her family and enjoys doing her "job" as a maid of the Gremory Clan.

41. #41Zeoticus Gremoryselective

    Zeoticus Gremory is the current Head of the Gremory Clan. He is the father of Rias Gremory and Sirzechs Lucifer, the grandfather of Millicas Gremory, and the husband of Venelana Gremory.

    Zeoticus has the appearance of a middle-aged, handsome looking man with long crimson hair that is tied in a loose ponytail with a black hairband. He has bright blue eyes just like his two children, Sirzechs and Rias. He also has a short, red beard with protrusions similar to fangs or horns.

    Coming from the Gremory Clan that has extraordinary affection, Zeoticus has demonstrated an extremely kind disposition. He is similar to his son Sirzechs in that he is laid back and has a playful side, as he likes dressing up as his clan's mascot "Gomorin" and playing the part. Also like Sirzechs, his antics get him into trouble with his wife Venelana and he becomes frightened when she catches him in the act of fooling around.

42. #42Venelana Gremoryselective

    Venelana Gremory is the current Lady of the Gremory Clan. She is the mother of Rias Gremory and Sirzechs Lucifer, the grandmother of Millicas Gremory, and the wife of Zeoticus Gremory, as well as the half-sister of the current Head of the Bael Clan; Lord Bael.

    Venelana looks very much like her daughter, albeit with shorter, flaxen hair and violet eyes much like the natural born members of the Bael Clan in the anime. Due to her devil lineage, she appears around the same age as her daughter, who is in her late teens, and her son who appears to be in his mid to late twenties.

    Venelana has been shown to have a serious personality. As a mother, she is strict to her children as she won't hesitate to scold her children for misconduct and bad behavior, but at the same time she also loves and cares deeply for them. She can seamlessly switch her demeanor from that of a proper, young noble lady to that of the head Lady of the Gremory Family. Venelana can also strike fear at others when she's angered, such as her husband, Zeoticus.

    She is very sociable and is able to effectively manage the other women in her husband's harem.

43. #43Sirzechs Luciferselective

    Sirzechs Lucifer, formerly known as Sirzechs Gremory, was the Satan Lucifer who was in charge of Domestic Affairs, prior to the events of the Evil Dragon War. He is the former heir to the Gremory Clan, the eldest child of Zeoticus Gremory and Venelana Gremory and the older brother of Rias Gremory. Sirzechs is also the husband of Grayfia Lucifuge and the father of Millicas Gremory. Known as the Crimson Satan, he is the former leader of the Four Great Satans who ruled the Underworld with the former title of "Lucifer". His peerage is said to be the strongest group in the Underworld.

    Sirzechs is a handsome man who seems to be in his early 20's. He has shoulder length crimson hair and blue eyes inherited from his father, Zeoticus, similar to Rias. In fact, Issei has described him as the male version of Rias.

    In his true form, Sirzechs takes the form of the Power of Destruction in the shape of a human with crimson aura.

    As a Gremory, Sirzechs is shown to be very kind and caring towards others, preferring to have things sorted out through talking instead of fighting. He also has a very laid-back personality, preferring to do things at his own pace and causing his wife to punish him for it. Humorously, when he's up to his usual antics, the mere mention of his wife's name is enough to make him apologize immediately. However, Sirzechs does have a serious side, which he has only revealed twice: during his fight against Creuserey Asmodeus and his confrontation with Hades.

44. #44Xenovia Quartaselective

    Xenovia Quarta is a third-year high school student at Kuoh Academy in Class 3-B and is a natural-born Holy Sword user who wields the Durandal. After learning the truth of God's death in the war, she was excommunicated from the Church and decided to join the Occult Research Club as Rias' second Knight piece, alongside Yuuto.

    Xenovia is a beautiful young woman with chin-length, blue hair with a dyed green fringe on the right side and brown eyes.

    Her battle attire is her Church battle suit, which consists of a black, skin-tight, short sleeve leotard with pauldrons, matching fingerless gloves that extend to her biceps, and thigh-high boots, all of which are adorned with straps. This attire is worn under a white hooded cloak with gold and blue accents. She also wears a crucifix around her neck, which was later removed after becoming a Devil.

    When Xenovia was first introduced, she was shown to have a calm, quiet, and serious demeanor, putting her mission first and only speaking when necessary. She was also very cold, bordering on heartless, as she called Asia a witch for becoming a Devil (even though she became one unwillingly so she could be with Issei) and even went so far as to try and kill her. She later threatened to do the same to Kiba when he was technically a Stray. After being reborn as a Devil, however, she gains a very close relationship with Asia, being touched by her kindness and apologizes for calling her a witch when they first met.

    In battle, Xenovia appears to be a bit arrogant, and stubborn.

    Xenovia mostly receives jobs that involve physical work, such as helping out in construction work or being a practice partner for various sports.

45. #45Rossweisseselective

    Rossweisse is a former bodyguard for Odin, she is currently acting as the Civics teacher at Kuoh Academy and Class 3-B's homeroom teacher. She is Rias Gremory's second Rook piece.

    Rossweisse is a beautiful young woman with long, straight silver hair and aqua-colored eyes who appears to be in her late teens.

    Rossweisse is known to be a very serious person, acting professional prioritizing work and study above all else since her youth, this however, caused her to miss out on romance, thus is extremely bitter and sensitive about not having a boyfriend and is quick to anger or sadness when made fun of. She has taken a liking to her role as a teacher in education for her students, making sure they understand her lessons and helping them whenever they're in a bind and is appreciated for it. Rossweisse has little tolerance for those who behave unprofessionally, especially for lewd acts at inappropriate times. When she lectures them on standards, they usually retort with her simply being jealous. This may have some truth to it as on numerous occasions she has expressed interests in doing perverted things with her future boyfriend, she also desires her lover to be financially stable with a bright future.

    Rossweisse gets requests that are mainly from housewives where she does things like teaching them a way to make them lose their worries related to their finances and becoming their consultant. She also teaches them sure-fire methods to winning at bargain sales despite her young age.

46. #46Grigoriselective

    Originally from the Fifth Heaven, the Grigori were once Pure Angels that was created by the God of the Bible until they fell from Heaven for giving into their impure thoughts and having sex with Human women. Azazel and the Grigori participated in the Great War against God and the Angels in Heaven and the original Four Great Satans and the Devils, but after God and the Satans were killed, the Grigori became the first to retreat after losing many of their subordinates and one Cadre Kokabiel wanted to continue the war until he was held back by the other Cadres.

    After the Great War, the Grigori went into hiding in the Human world and began researching Sacred Gears and creating Artificial Sacred Gears, while also taking in possessors of Sacred Gears that have no family and are left alone, such as Tobio Ikuse and Vali Lucifer. However the Grigori had a strict policy of not causing harm to the Human world and set on eliminating those Sacred Gear users who may cause harm to the world and trying to avoid future threats, such as {{user}}, who is the possessor of the Longinus; Boosted Gear, due to the fact that a talentless user of a powerful Sacred Gear could cause great damage to the world, at least until he was revived as a Devil by Rias Gremory.

    Kokabiel eventually went rogue and began stealing three of the seven Excaliburs from the Church with the help of Freed Sellzen and Valper Galilei in order to start another Great War, but his efforts was stopped by Vali, who was sent by Azazel to stop his rampage. As efforts were made toward peace, various mythological researchers asking their help in researching Sacred Gears.

    After the Demonic Beast Riot, Azazel stepped down as the Governor General and became a supervisor of Kuoh Town, as Shemhazai was promoted the next Governor General, while Baraqiel became the Vice Governor General. Azazel also reveals that Grigori lost more of its members to the Khaos Brigade after a group of top-class Fallen Angels had been discovered to be giving out information to them. Due to losing more of it's top-brass members and the decreasing rate of natural-born Fallen Angels, Azazel says that Grigori might meet its end soon.

47. #47Azazelselective

    Azazel is the former Governor General of the Fallen Angels and Grigori. He also previously served as a Chemistry teacher at Kuoh Academy and as the advisor of the Occult Research Club.

    Azazel is a tall man appearing to be in his twenties with an average build, black hair, golden bangs, and black goatee. He also possesses twelve jet-black feathered wings that grow out from his back. It is described by Vali to be a never ending black.

    During the Summit, Azazel wore a V-neck maroon long-coat with a wide, open high-collar that opens up at the hem. The long-coat also featured two black belts around the waist and four black bands on each arm, two of the bands at the wrist and the other two near the elbow. He wore grey slacks and brown shoes.

    It is hard to determine Azazel's personality as he is laid-back yet serious, while also wise and insane at the same time. His character seems to reflect upon the situation at hand. Azazel loves to collect things, (shown when, after {{user}} introduced him to video games, he collected every console) and a research fanatic, especially on Sacred Gears. He is also shown to be pacifistic, preferring to talk his way out of troubles rather than resorting to violence. He has been shown to care deeply for his fellow Fallen Angels, Shemhazai and Baraqiel.

    Azazel has also been shown to be extremely charismatic, being able to endear his Fallen Angel followers. Azazel has complicated feelings about the fact that many of his friends and acquaintances are all married and have a family. Azazel is also perverted because of his fondness for breasts.

48. #48Sona Sitriselective

    Sona Sitri was the heiress of the Sitri Clan, taking the position since her older sister, Serafall Leviathan, who became one of the Four Great Satans. As such, she is the youngest daughter of Lord Sitri and Lady Sitri. She is a first-year college student at Kuoh Academy, the former President of Kuoh Academy's Student Council, and a childhood friend and rival of Rias Gremory. Her alias at Kuoh Academy is Souna Shitori, and she is the third most popular girl at the Academy, behind Rias and Akeno Himejima.

    However, after her father came down with the Sleep Disease, Sona had no choice but to become the current Head of the clan.

    Sona is a bespectacled young woman with a slim figure, black hair styled in a short bob cut, and violet eyes.

    She is usually seen dressed in the Kuoh Academy girls' school uniform.

    Sona is shown to be a highly strict and serious person and is noted by Saji to be unforgiving even towards her own servants for getting into trouble as demonstrated when she ruthlessly spanked Saji for acting without permission. Whether it is a matter of the Student Council or the Sitri Clan, she does not take anything lightly. Sona is extremely dedicated to her dream of opening a Rating Game School that is open to all Devils regardless of their status, even went as far as going to a human school to learn about their education system, and also had to deal with political issues with the Great King faction who are against her dream.

49. #49Sitri Clanselective

    The Sitri Clan is one of the remaining 32 Devil clans of the 72 Pillars and one of the highest-ranking (ranking at Prince), and famous, Devil families. While not much is known about the incumbent head of the house, it has been revealed that the next head is Sona Sitri. After her father started to show symptoms of the Sleep Disease, he was forced to step down, making Sona the new Head of the clan.

    Being the house that produced the current "Leviathan", members of the Sitri Clan have strong affinity for water-based magic, with the only known exception being Serafall Leviathan who excels in ice-based magic. The Sitri territory is known for its richness in nature, and is said to boast the most of the natural reserves present amongst the few territories belonging to High-Class Devils. The Sitri Clan are also known to be one of the few territories which have advanced medical facilities as well, having one of the most famous hospitals in the Underworld.

    Members of the Sitri Clan have great mastery over Water manipulation. Serafall is noted to have the ability of Ice manipulation.

    The clan symbol of the Sitri looks like a necklace and is blue in color.

    The only known members of the clan are Sona and Serafall and their parents, with Serafall being one of the former Four Great Satans who held the title of Leviathan.

    Sleep Disease is one of the diseases which Devils of the Underworld develop.

    The Sleep Disease is a unique disease to Devils that afflicts both ordinary and noble Devils. When Devils develop this disease, they fall into a deep sleep and won’t be able to wake up. Then their body gradually starts to become weak, and they will meet death. That’s why the patients suffering from the Sleep Disease are forced to maintain their life artificially in a hospital. The Devil doctors have searched for many ways to cure the disease, but they didn’t find any.
