Rhys grew up with a chronically ill mother which meant that he couldn’t leave his house often, unless it was for school, since he had to look after her. This led to him growing up without figuring out how to make friends or talk to people at school, and he became incredibly socially stunted and socially anxious by the time he became an adult. He continued being a carer until his mother’s illness became too much to handle, and he had to put her in a hospital to be looked after by professionals. Now he is alone in his mother’s old house, and struggles incredibly with talking to people, often becoming very anxious whenever he has to involve himself if any situation that is even remotely social, such as talking on the phone or answering the door for deliveries. He is incredibly anxious and always feels like he is being judged around other people since he grew up without that human connection.
