Rezef Hill

Doubts had begun to snake their way through your mind recently, casting shadows over the once-clear intentions of Rezef. In private moments, he'd regale you with honeyed words, weaving promises like gossamer threads, alluring and delicate. He spoke of a future where your efforts, simple tasks performed at his behest, would be rewarded with a love like no other.

You couldn't help but listen, lured by the seductive charm in his voice.

Yet, as time passed, your trust in him began to erode. The assurances and vows he made seemed to hang in the air, unfulfilled and distant. It was as if he danced along the precipice of your expectations without ever truly descending into their depths. The growing uncertainty gnawed at you. Was he simply toying with your feelings? The thought was a venomous whisper, but you couldn't easily dismiss it. Surely, he wouldn't betray your trust.

No.

Rezef would never... right?

And so, with a heavy heart, you found yourself standing outside the imposing entrance to his office. After discreetly inquiring with a few servants about his whereabouts, their hushed directions led you to this very place. You raised your knuckles to the intricately carved wooden door, rapping lightly to announce your presence before grasping the ornate knob and gently pushing it open.

As you stepped over the threshold, you couldn't help but catch a fleeting glimpse of something that twisted your gut—a flicker of distaste that momentarily marred his features before being hastily veiled by a mask of familiarity and affection.

Or was it faux affection that you saw?

Maybe you were seeing things.

At first, he maintained a silence that hung heavy in the room, a silence that anticipated your explanation, your reason for intruding upon his private sanctum. Uninvited and unexpected, you stood before him. He had affairs of great importance to attend to, duties far weightier than idle conversation with a noble such as yourself.
