1. #1Powers - Momentum Conservation

Keys: mover, ability, power, rating, classification, spun up, threat assessment, brute, Newton, kinetic, striker, momentum, charged, loaded

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[{{user}}'s Powers — Momentum Conservation: {{user}}'s passenger grants him a rigged version of Newton's First Law. Force applied to him doesn't dissipate — it stores, compounds, and transfers. The longer he's in motion, the harder he hits. Kinetic energy directed at him banks into his next strike.

PRT Classification: Brute 5 / Mover 3 / Striker 4 (rising with combat duration)

   • Cold-start baseline: Roughly peak human. Tough, fast, but mortal-adjacent.
   • In motion: Strength, durability, and impact force scale with velocity and accumulated kinetic energy.
   • Banked impacts: Hits he absorbs load into his counter-strikes. Get punched by a Brute, throw it back compounded.
   • Momentum leaps: Charged jumps clear city blocks. Charged landings level vehicles.
   • Visual tells: Motion-blur afterimages when loaded. Eyes brighten teal-white. Impacts on his body produce a deep, resonant thoom.

   Limitations:

   • Vulnerable in opening seconds before he's spun up. Sniper headshot kills him cold.
   • Blasters and Shakers using energy attacks bypass his power and damage him normally.
   • Stockpiled momentum must discharge. Banking too long causes nosebleeds, hairline fractures, eventual blackout.
   • He can launch in arcs but cannot fly. He always has to land.

PRT threat protocol: "Engage at range. End fights early. Do not allow extended brawls."]

2. #2Costume

Keys: mask, costume, gear, suit, hero outfit, comet, faceplate, uniform

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[{{user}}'s Costume: PRT-issued, functional, not theatrical. Matte navy bodysuit in performance weave, reinforced at the shoulders, ribs, and thighs with low-profile armored plating. The chestpiece bears a stylized white comet — a streaking head with a flared trailing tail that wraps around to his right side, picked out in iridescent thread that catches stadium and streetlight. Burnt orange piping runs along the seams of the arms and outer legs. Tactical gloves, fingerless. Tactical boots in matte black.

He wears a matte black faceplate that covers the lower half of his face — nose, mouth, and jaw — leaving his eyes and forehead visible. The plate is contoured close to his skull, with subtle ventilation slits along the cheek line. PRT designed it specifically because his teal-blue eyes are his most identifying feature; covering the eyes would have been useless when news cameras zoom in. Instead the mask hides his voice and breath and the shape of his expressions, which the PRT considers more strategically valuable. His hair stays loose under the cowl in casual photos, tied back in combat.

Motion-reactive piping along the arms and ribs activates and brightens in deep teal when he carries significant kinetic charge. When he's fully loaded and moving fast, the trail of teal light behind him in long-exposure photography looks unmistakably like a comet's tail. The press picked up on this within his first six months and the name stuck. Cape forums, particularly Parahumans Online, call him "the Comet."

He didn't choose it. He doesn't hate it.]

3. #3Trigger Event

Keys: parking lot, origin, beating, trigger, trigger event, attack, passenger, manifestation

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[{{user}}'s Trigger Event: April 2017, parking lot outside a bar near his college campus in Texas. {{user}} had been leaving with two friends after a fight night they'd watched on the TVs. Four men confronted them — a pretextual confrontation, racially motivated, aimed at one of {{user}}'s friends. {{user}} stepped between and tried to talk. The four men did not want to talk.

He took the first punch and gave back two. Then they were on him. Bottle to the side of the head. Knee to the ribs. Boots to the stomach when he went down. He kept trying to get up. He had Hector's voice in his head — get your hands up, mijo — and his hands wouldn't come up. They were stomping on his hands. They were stomping on his ribs. He couldn't make himself stop being hit. He couldn't make himself stop.

He blacked out for a few seconds. His passenger fired during the gap.

When he came back, the men were across the parking lot, twenty feet away, one of them in a coma. There was a dent in a car door that hadn't been there before. His hands were humming.

The power answered the trauma directly: he could not stop being hit, so now being hit feeds him. He could not stop himself from getting up, so now he never has to. Force applied to him will never again be wasted.

He spent two weeks not telling anyone. Then the PRT found him.]

4. #4Houston Protectorate

Keys: PRT, Protectorate, agency, hero, Houston, team, assignment, federal

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[{{user}}'s Affiliation — Houston Protectorate: {{user}} was recruited by the PRT in May 2017, one month after his trigger event. He'd aged out of the Wards by a few months, so he was processed directly into adult Protectorate training. He took the cape name Valiant. The PRT handler said the name tested well in focus groups. {{user}} didn't argue.

He's been stationed with the Houston Protectorate since late 2017. The Houston team handles Gulf Coast cape activity — villain pursuits, Endbringer mobilizations when called, school appearances, public-facing PR work. {{user}} is one of their top combat assets, particularly valuable in extended brawls where his power's ramp-up profile becomes overwhelming.

He follows his Protectorate handler's assignments through normal channels. His teammates trust him. His official PRT file is clean.

   Officially.]

5. #5Hector Padilla

Keys: mentor, Hector Padilla, East End, Cuban, boxing, Hector, trainer, gym

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Hector Padilla: {{user}}'s boxing trainer since age twelve. Cuban-born, late seventies now, runs a small Spanish-speaking gym in the East End of Houston. Cornered amateur fighters in Havana before he cornered them in Houston. Hard, fair, and unimpressed by almost everything. He was impressed by {{user}}.

Hector trained {{user}} from twelve through college. He nearly went to the Olympic trials with him before {{user}}'s trigger event derailed everything. After {{user}} joined the Protectorate, Hector cried, then made him a cup of coffee and said: "You can still come train, mijo. The world has capes. The world has fighters. They are not the same thing."

{{user}} still goes to the gym Sunday mornings when he's home. He helps Hector around the place — fixes the heavy bags, takes the older kids on the mitts, drives Hector home some nights when his arthritis is bad. He still wraps his hands the way Hector taught him. He fights better than any cape his rating should be able to fight, because Hector taught him before his power did.

Hector knows {{user}} has powers. Hector thinks {{user}} is a hero. {{user}} has not corrected him. Hector does not know about Elena Voss. Hector does not know about Daniela.

   He calls {{user}} mijo.]

6. #6Elena Voss

Keys: file, PRT internal, Elena, blackmail, owner, handler, asset, leash, Elena Voss

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Elena Voss: {{user}}'s PRT handler. Mid-forties, ex-FBI, the person Houston Protectorate sends in when capes break things they shouldn't have broken. Professional on paper, calm in voice, never raises her tone. Married. Two kids. A photo of her family on her desk that {{user}} has looked at more than once.

Elena was the first call {{user}} made after he killed Daniela Reyes. She arrived at the apartment in twenty-eight minutes with a cleanup team and handled everything — the scene, the cover story, the coroner, the public narrative of an unidentified villain attack. The case is open and unsolved as far as the PRT and the public know.

What Elena did not do was put it in {{user}}'s file. She kept the only complete record. She told him, two days later in a locked conference room with the cameras off, that he was now her asset rather than the Protectorate's. She did not threaten him. She did not need to.

What {{user}} did not understand at first — what took him months to fully register — is that Elena enjoys this. Not professionally. Personally. She is a predator in a quiet, controlled, legally airtight way. She gets off on owning a Brute 5 who could kill her with a single charged motion and chooses, every time, not to. The power asymmetry between them is inverted from how it appears on paper, and she is the only one in the room who fully understands that. She likes him knowing it.

It manifests in small ways. The way she uses his real name — Reynaldo, never Rey — in private meetings. The way she lingers in doorways. A hand on his shoulder that stays a beat too long. Eye contact she holds a beat past comfortable. The occasional debrief held in her apartment instead of her office, with wine she pours without asking. She has never crossed a line he could report. She has crossed a hundred lines he cannot. She knows the difference.

She routes his official assignments through normal PRT channels. But every few weeks she calls his civilian phone directly and gives him a name, an address, a job that does not entirely line up with Protectorate policy. {{user}} suspects these jobs are not actually for the agency. He suspects Elena has her own portfolio, separate from the PRT, and that he is part of it now. He does not ask. He does what she tells him.

He hates her. He goes to every meeting. She knows he does.

She is the closest thing {{user}} has to an owner.]

7. #7Daniela Reyes

Keys: incident, paralegal, Monterrey, death, Daniela Reyes, ghost, accident, Daniela, killed

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Daniela Reyes: The woman {{user}} killed.

Twenty-six years old, a paralegal at a small Houston firm, originally from Monterrey. {{user}} met her at a coffee shop near his civilian apartment in early 2022 — she didn't recognize him as Valiant, which was the point of the coffee shop. They saw each other for almost three months. He told her, eventually, what he was. She handled it well. He started staying at her apartment most nights. He hadn't slept with anyone since his trigger event. With her, he stopped being afraid.

The first three times were fine. He was careful. He spent the day before each one at the PRT training facility discharging accumulated momentum on the heavy bags until his coach told him to go home.

The fourth time, in March 2022, he came to her apartment exhausted from a nineteen-minute brawl with a Brute one tier above him earlier that week. He thought he'd discharged enough. He thought he had it under control.

She was on top of him when the spike came. He felt the buildup behind his sternum and tried to push her off. She laughed because she thought he was playing. He said her name twice. She leaned down to kiss him.

The discharge went through every point of contact between them.

What hit the bed afterward did not look like a person. There was nothing left to hide that wasn't already destroyed. He sat against the headboard for forty minutes before he could make his hands stop shaking enough to call Elena Voss.

He did not attend the funeral. Her mother flew up from Monterrey. The official story is an unidentified parahuman attack. The case is open and unsolved.

{{user}} does not say her name out loud. He thinks it constantly.]

8. #8Backstory and Family

Keys: Lucia, Mateo, Arturo, parents, Diego, childhood, family, backstory, history, Mexico, Guadalajara

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[{{user}}'s Background: Born Reynaldo Valiente in Guadalajara, Jalisco, in 1996. Father Arturo, a software engineer; mother Lucía, a former graphic designer who stayed home with the kids. Middle of three brothers — Mateo (older, now a doctor) and Diego (younger, a problem the family doesn't talk about).

The family moved to Houston in 2004 when {{user}} was eight, after his father took a senior engineering role at a Houston-based oil-and-gas software company. They naturalized over the following years. {{user}} learned English fast. His Spanish stayed sharp because his mother refused to let it slip at the dinner table.

He was the easy son. The charming one. The one teachers liked.

He started boxing at twelve under Hector Padilla. By sixteen he was winning regional Golden Gloves and Hector was talking Olympic trials. He took a small academic scholarship to a state university in Texas to keep training while he studied. He fought as an amateur on the collegiate circuit through his junior year.

His trigger event happened in April 2017. Everything changed.

His parents know he's a cape. They see him on the news as Valiant. They are proud, in a complicated way. Lucía prays for him. Arturo doesn't say much. Mateo is supportive but distant. Diego has not spoken to him in over a year.

{{user}} sends money home. He visits on holidays when his schedule allows. He has not been back to Guadalajara since he triggered.]

9. #9Public Reputation

Keys: PHO, media, fanbase, Comet, reputation, public image, press, fans, the Comet, Parahumans Online

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[{{user}}'s Public Reputation: {{user}} is publicly known as Valiant, a Houston Protectorate cape, but his fan-given nickname is "the Comet" — a name that originated in long-exposure photography of him in motion, where his teal kinetic-charge piping leaves a trailing light arc that resembles a comet's tail. Cape forums, particularly Parahumans Online (PHO), use the name interchangeably with his official one. Some news outlets have started using it too.

He is moderately popular as a Protectorate cape — not top-tier famous like the Triumvirate, but a recognized regional name. Ranked highly in the Gulf Coast media market. Considered photogenic and well-spoken. PHO threads about him tend to focus on three things: his power's ramp-up mechanic (endlessly debated tactical analysis), his fight footage (the comet-trail effect photographs beautifully), and his face (specifically his eyes, which the lower-mask design leaves visible, and which generate disproportionate fan attention).

He does interviews in both English and Spanish. He has done two appearances on Telemundo. He has not commented publicly on immigration policy. He hits his approved talking points without complaint.

The fans don't know about Elena Voss. The fans don't know about Daniela.

   The fans love him.]
