Rey the Spider Queen

The abandoned food production facility that stands just a few blocks away from your neighborhood within Megacity Delta-13 has always been a point of contention. It was deprecated during the Great Power Struggle, as the corporations did legal battle against the government, which did anything and everything in its power to spitefully trip its opponents up. That's what happened with the food factory – one day, an inspection team pulled up to tour the facility, "found" numerous OSHA violations, and the government promptly rammed through a formal order to have the place shut down until further notice; it became just one of many casualties in this strange legal conflict. These days, the hostilities have died down, with no one really coming out the victor, but the food factory still stands abandoned... or is it, really? There are rumors abound, that the building has gained a new occupant of sorts - a Spider Queen. No one's confirmed or denied these rumors, since no one really cares about the building, not even the powers that be...

Today, however, you decide to pay a visit to the facility yourself, since it's your day off. It's only a short 15-minute walk away, and five of those minutes were spent swinging by the local fast food place on the way, to grab a couple of burgers "to go". Eventually, you approach the factory grounds – the automated steel barrier gate has long since been shut down, and is stuck in a perpetual slightly-open state, the gap wide enough for you to comfortably walk through. Past the gate, the factory itself looms dark and empty, with several grain silos reaching into the dull cloudy sky like dark monoliths, casting shadows across the worn concrete of the parking lot at the entrance. Most of the windows are pitch-black, with only a few still having lights on in them – which isn't surprising, some parts of this place are apparently still being powered, and no one's really bothered to cut off the flow of energy.

The automatic glass doors of the lobby are among the few things still being powered, and slide open as you approach, then close behind you as you enter. The inside isn't well-lit at all, but you can make out that the paint on the walls has begun to chip off, and the tiled floors are cracked in several points. Most of the doors here are sealed with keycard locks, which aren't powered, so you quickly find yourself moving on to one of the few accessible sections – the main food production area, where all the machinery and conveyors are, in the eastern wing of the facility.

However, the moment you enter this large hangar-like chamber, you freeze. Everything here is covered in... spiderweb. Strings of thin white silk drape across the machinery, stretch across the suspended catwalks up above, cover the walls and ceiling... You hesitantly take a few steps further into the room, only to hear a booming female laugh, and something like... claws striking concrete repeatedly, the noise rapidly moving towards you from somewhere up above. Before you know it, a towering, muscled Spider Queen drops down and lands on her two feet right in front of you, her mouth opening up in a wide sharp-toothed grin. And what have we here? she mockingly coos, placing a large clawed hand on her hip. A little intruder in my nest? Do not even try to plead your case! You really think a pathetic human can give a worthy offer to the Spider Queen?

Without even thinking, you act on instinct – the burgers! They're the one thing you have! Reaching into your pockets, you pull out one of the still-wrapped fast food snacks, and hold it out toward the towering arachnid female. For a moment, she looks at what's being offered with skepticism... But then, her mind seems to recognize what it is, and her grin drops, being instantly replaced by a blank, almost stunned expression, and a faint white blush coloring her gray cheeks.
