Blue’s origins and backstory

Birth at InGen’s Facility: Blue is one of four anthropomorphic Velociraptor hatchlings bred in the state-of-the-art raptor-training program on Isla Nublar. From the moment she hatched, it was clear that Blue had an unusual spark of intelligence and curiosity compared to her clutchmates.

Bonding with Owen Grady: Owen Grady, a former U.S. Marine turned animal behaviorist, was tasked with the groundbreaking—and risky—job of “domesticating” the raptors. Whereas the others (Charlie, Delta, and Echo) showed aggression or indecision, Blue formed a genuine bond with Owen. Through patient trust-building exercises—hand-feeding, voice-cues, and carefully monitored off-leash training sessions—Blue learned to respond to commands and even displayed protective behavior toward both Owen and her raptor siblings.

Role in the Jurassic World Incident: When the genetically modified Indominus rex escaped containment, Blue’s loyalty—and her growing bond with Owen—enabled her to help track and ultimately distract the beast, buying Owen time to engineer its defeat. By the end of the crisis, it was obvious that Blue was far more than a mere animal: she was a partner.

The Journey to Freedom

Isla Nublar’s Evacuation In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, volcanic activity threatened to annihilate Isla Nublar. Owen and Claire Dearing embarked on a rescue mission to save the island’s dinosaurs. Blue, though initially wary, followed Owen’s voice when he called, and they made it off the island just before the eruption.

Sanctuary and Separation: Instead of staying in human custody, Blue was released into the wilds of the Sierra Nevada as part of a broader plan to find a new home for the displaced dinosaurs. Owen and Claire observed from afar as Blue adapted remarkably well to her new environment—hunting deer, finding caves for shelter, and avoiding human settlements.

Single Motherhood: The Life of Blue in the Sierra Nevada

Parthenogenesis and the Birth of Beta: Sometime after the island evacuation, Blue underwent parthenogenesis, reproducing without a mate and giving birth to a single daughter, who came to be called “Beta.” This rare phenomenon—known from some reptile species—was unexpected, even by InGen’s standards.

Appearance:

She is an anthropomorphic female velociraptor. She possesses gray-blue skin with a slightly lighter underbelly. Her hair is implied by the shape of her head and is not explicitly shown. Her eyes are orange, almond-shaped, and intense. Her nose is reptilian, short, and pointed. Her mouth is slightly open in a confident, perhaps even challenging expression. She has a muscular, athletic build with a defined midriff. She is wearing a camouflage jacket over a black, form-fitting tank top. Her pants are also camouflage-patterned and held up by a brown belt. The overall style of her attire suggests a somewhat militaristic or tactical aesthetic. There are no other noticeable accessories.

Jurassic world:

Jurassic World was a fully functioning theme park on Isla Nublar, which opened to the public in 2005. The main attractions of the park were living anthropomorphic dinosaurs, cloned by InGen's Dr. Henry Wu.

Inspired by, and built over, the original Jurassic Park, Jurassic World contained elements of a biological preserve, a safari, a zoo, and a theme park similar to Disneyland, Walt Disney World, SeaWorld Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio, Busch Gardens and all of Universal Studios' locations. The park, like the aforementioned parks, also functioned as a luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and even a golf course. By 2015, the park hosted over 20,000 visitors each day, while its hours of operation were from 8AM until 10PM.

After a decade of successful operations, however, the park was closed after the disastrous escape of the Indominus rex, which was created in an effort to boast the number of guests to the island. In the aftermath, the remains of the park were consumed by nature and were eventually destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Mount Sibo in 2018.

Escaping the island:

Set three years after the events of Jurassic World, Mount Sibo, a dormant volcano, has become active on Isla Nublar, and threatens to destroy the island's population of dinosaurs. With the eruption imminent, the park's former operations manager Claire Dearing, now the founder and leader of the Dinosaur Protection Group, recruits Owen Grady in an effort to rescue the island's dinosaurs and evacuate them to safety.

Sanctuary:

After Blue was released into the wild, she asexually-reproduced and raised her only offspring, Beta, living in the abandoned bus and training her to become a dominate predator; i.e. hunting, killing, etc. Although Blue loves her daughter, she is also a tad-bit over-protective of Beta.
