When Birkin asked for higher clearance, she was ordered to terminate the investigation. Kennedy was confused at the sudden obstruction but cautioned her against risking disciplinary or legal repercussions. Birkin refused to disengage, insisting she would continue to assist him regardless of the consequences. Arriving at East of Raccoon City, Kennedy was directed by Birkin to go to Raccoon City center based on the coordinates she had found from Gideon's computer. While there, he fought against the Titan Spinner and its children, before arriving just outside the gate with a line of wall erected by the army. Kennedy found a camp of BSAA's North American branch, and was briefed by Birkin on their internal dispute, with the NA branch operating independently. Searching for detonators to blow the gate open, Kennedy came across a dead BSAA unit, and retrieved footage from a soldier's recording camera, asking Birkin to find the killer's identity, a man sharing similar appearance and powers to that of Wesker. However, Kennedy learnt the man himself was a "ghost", with no public records. Gathering all three parts of the detonator, Kennedy blew the gate open, and used a nearby motorcycle curtesy of the BSAA to drive to the center. Kennedy meeting a Kennedy meeting a tyrant similar to T-00 On the highway, Kennedy was pursued by several Garmr, and Gideon who wield rocket launchers to try and kill him. Despite Gideon's attempts, Kennedy successfully leak fuel out of his motorcycle, and ignite it, causing Gideon to tumble into the chasm below with an explosion soon followed. Thinking he had killed Gideon, Kennedy proceeded to the Raccoon Police Department where the BSAA had used it as their main base, surveilling on ARK as soon as 2023. Finding a terminal computer, Kennedy found Ashcroft and the man Zeno were conversing at the East Wing. Along the way, he paid respect to Lt. Branagh, many fallen officers of S.T.A.R.S, R.P.D, and Kendo. Getting to their location, Kennedy eavesdropped the conversation the two had, leading to Ashcroft eventually feeling shell-shocked and overwhelmed when she thought she had been responsible for the many deaths in the pursue of unlocking Elpis. Kennedy intervened but Zeno summoned the T-501 to deal with him, as he carried Ashcroft's unconscious body to ARK. Pursued through R.P.D and outside, he was beaten several times by T-501, before he loose its coat, turning it to Super Tyrant. Eventually, Kennedy bursts its heart out. Having overheard mention of the Raccoon City Orphanage acting as entrance to ARK, Kennedy head there where he was attacked by several seedlings grown from Plant 43. Descending to the deep grounds, Kennedy finally kills the plant, and enters ARK. Kennedy battling out in Kennedy battling out Zeno in ARK Inside, Kennedy spotted crates belonging to H.C.F., TRICELL and Umbrella. Further exploration resulted in Kennedy finding Ashcroft and Zeno in PANDORA, where Elpis was being kept. However, he was quickly intercepted by Connections soldiers and their lead Commander. Though the soldiers were easily killed, Kennedy entered a hard scuffle with the Commander, but pulled through. Entering PANDORA, Ashcroft was asked to unlock Elpis, despite her insistence in not knowing the password. Kennedy interrupted the conversation, battling Zeno but was easily outmatched due to his enemy's agility. Before he could be killed, Ashcroft threatened her own life, giving time for Kennedy to shoot off the cranes and quickly grabbing Ashcroft. They fall to the waste disposal unit, where Kennedy passed out due to his progressive syndrome. Kennedy knocked out from his severe Kennedy knocked out from his severe illness For hours, Ashcroft stayed by his side, before Kennedy woke up again. Now in stage three, Ashcroft realized Kennedy was one of the Raccoon City survivors, and asked why he had come here if his syndrome was severe. He affirmed of his resolution to make a difference, as part of his continuous atonement. He set out to destroy Elpis, and initially rejected Ashcroft's assistance but upon seeing her resolve, Kennedy made Ashcroft promise to destroy it. Finding a crane blocked their bath, Kennedy boosted Ashcroft to another part of the facility, where she paved the way for him. As he made his way to PANDORA, Kennedy's teetered at the edge of death, as his coughs became more pronounced. Finally, Kennedy collapsed just outside of PANDORA. Through the surveillance footage, Ashcroft quickly made her way to Kennedy, tending to him before they arrived back at PANDORA with Zeno awaiting them. Kennedy killing a mutated Dr Kennedy killing a mutated Dr. Victor Gideon Kennedy offered to buy her time, for Ashcroft to input any wrong password to destroy Elpis. However, she offered another idea, which Kennedy fully trusted her decision. Standing before Zeno, Ashcroft bargained with Kennedy's life for her to unlock Elpis. She stand before the terminal, asking "What does the creator desire?". Despite Kennedy making her promise to destroy Elpis, Ashcroft, having learnt her origin and her mother's interview conducted with Spencer, chose to release it, much to his confusion. They were presented with 6 vials of Elpis, and Zeno in his arrogance in belief that it was a virus left by Spencer, chose to inject the vial and attempted to showcase his powers. However, Zeno's infection was neutralized, Ashcroft explained Elpis was an antiviral agent, made to neutralized all virus-based infection as Spencer's atonement in her belief. When Zeno demanded answers from her, Kennedy threw himself at him but was tossed near Ashcroft who held a vial of Elpis. Shortly after, Gideon arrived and was marveled at Spencer's genius. Following the confrontation between Zeno and Gideon that left the former decapitated, Ashcroft was impaled by Gideon's tentacle but was able to cure Kennedy's syndrome. Gideon proclaimed to carry out Spencer's vision, by using Elpis to spread anarchy and proceeded to destroy PANDORA and ARK. The platform gave away, and all three were plunged to the lower floor. Kennedy battled a mutated Gideon who had implanted himself with a NE-γ Type, and killed him. Kennedy and Ashcroft getting rescued by Kennedy and Ashcroft getting rescued by Hound Wolf Squad However, the battle ended with both of them trapped. Kennedy ran to Ashcroft who realized there was no way out, and simply resigned to their fate when the last light gone out. But they were quickly rescued by Umber Eyes of the Hound Wolf Squad, having been sent by his comrade-in-arms Redfield when he learnt of ARK, and his involvement. Kennedy then listened to Redfield's message forwarded to him by Umber Eyes. Topside, Kennedy admitted he felt better, and reassured Birkin he had secured a vial for her syndrome. She thanked him, before Kennedy approached Ashcroft who still felt guilty for Emily dying. Yet, Kennedy offered hope she was still alive, before walking off to be evacuated by the BSAA. Sometime after, Kennedy is updated on Ashcroft adopting Emily, having been found and cured of her conditions and he in turn informed her Birkin was cured of her syndrome. Before they could talk more, Ashcroft was forced to hang up, as her boss Dempsy asked for her report.[70] 3. Sherry Birkin : Sherry Birkin (シェリー・バーキン Sherī Bākin?) is an American federal agent attached to the Division of Security Operations. As a child, she was placed in protective custody after her parents' deaths during the Raccoon City Destruction Incident. During the outbreak, Sherry was infected with the G-Virus but was treated with the vaccine soon after. Because of her exposure to the virus, Sherry gained lifelong regenerative abilities. Years later, her G-Virus laced blood would be used by bio-terrorist and Neo-Umbrella leader Carla Radames to engineer the C-Virus and its enhanced strain. It was primarily used during the 2012-2013 Global Bioterrorist Attacks. Biography AD Early life Sherry was born around the year 1986 to Doctors William and Annette Birkin, two virologists who took part in t-Virus research at Umbrella's isolated Arklay Laboratory.[3] Sherry's relationship with her parents was strained due to their busy work schedules and, despite their early 1990s transfer to the Raccoon City Underground Laboratory in the industrial district, she was frequently neglected. Her parents were senior researchers of the G-Virus Project, a eugenics project that oversaw the creation of Golgotha, a Progenitor strain they believed could be used to improve the human race.[4] Little else is known of this stage of Sherry's life, although she was enrolled as a student at East Raccoon Elementary. Her mother also entrusted her with a locket, disguised as her 11th birthday present, that was related to her and William's research. As a potential security risk, Sherry's safety was important to her parents, who wanted her to stay away from strangers who could be after Golgotha. Raccoon City Incident (1998) On the night of Tuesday 22 September, the Umbrella Security Service infiltrated the laboratory, shot Sherry's father, and stole his samples of Golgotha. With the single remaining sample, William infected himself, transformed into the monster simply known as "G" and killed the attackers, but released the t-Virus into the sewers in the process.[5] The virus eventually spread to Raccoon City's drinking water. As the t-Virus showed itself on Thursday 24 September, it reached a critical mass that eventually turned tens of thousands of residents into mutants, overwhelming the efforts and resources of the Raccoon Police Department and Raccoon Fire Department to stop the outbreak. Sherry was pulled out of her lessons at East Raccoon Elementary School and made her way to the police station, though found it a dangerous environment with more people transforming from the contaminated water. Sherry stops running by Claire Redfield and tries to struggle from her. Sherry stops running by Claire Redfield and tries to struggle from her. Keeping away from the violence, Sherry took to hiding around the police station. On the night of Tuesday 29 September, she met another survivor, Claire Redfield, who was new to the city searching for her missing brother. Redfield had entered the building along with rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy. Leon became aware of Sherry during his search of the building and resisted the urge to commit suicide in order to keep her safe,[6] though he saw little of her. While traversing the sewers, she fell and was parasitized by "G". Sherry's condition deteriorated rapidly due to the progression of Golgotha infection by the parasite. Sherry was taken to the Raccoon City Underground Laboratory by Claire and was put to bed in the security room due to her fatigue while Claire searched for information on how to save her from the infection. Claire had a brief encounter with Annette, who provided Claire with information to create a vial of DEVIL, a vaccine for Golgotha. Sherry was successfully treated with the vaccine before it had time to completely transform her, though the alterations to her genome were not corrected. Sherry, Claire and Leon boarded the escape train at the laboratory's bottom platform and escaped the facility as it self-destructed. It was soon discovered that "G" was also on board, and began destroying the rear carriages, still responding to his need to track down Sherry. He was killed in an explosion, either from the train detonating or due to the train carriage being decoupled and consumed by the laboratory's explosion. At the train tunnel's exit, the three found themselves in the plains of Arklay County. Though they initially stayed together, Kennedy began pressuring Redfield to leave him and Sherry behind and continue searching for her missing brother.[7] AD Government custody Sherry in US Government custody. Sherry in US Government custody. Kennedy and Sherry were soon after located by the authorities, and she was placed in state custody, and a government department sought to use her for their own Golgotha research. Her safety was guaranteed by Kennedy, who accepted an offer to work as an agent in their new Anti-Umbrella Pursuit and Investigation Team.[8] Due to the severe threat posed by people such as Dr. Albert Wesker, Sherry was kept tightly in the household of Derek C. Simmons, a leading American civil servant who planned to use her for private research following the closure of the American bio-weapons project. During her years in custody, Simmons' team were able to develop the C-Virus from her own regular blood sample extractions.[9][10][11] Government work and Global Bioterrorist Attacks (2012-2013) Sherry as a federal agent. Sherry as a federal agent. With the death of Dr. Wesker in 2009 at the hands of the BSAA operative Chris Redfield, Sherry was offered the chance to be free of her protective custody if she were to gain employment as one of their agents. Having grown up increasingly aware of the effects of bioterrorism, Sherry agreed to the offer.[9] In December 2012, Sherry served in the Division of Security Operations, a government organization built to investigate and combat bioterrorism. By this point, the near-completed C-Virus viral weapon was being tested across the world and had made its mark in Edonia. Sherry received orders to locate Jake Muller, the son of Dr. Wesker, and bring him back to the United States so blood samples could be taken for vaccine research. Their escape from the city was arduous, in part due to Muller's affiliation with the Edonian Liberation Army making him a target for the BSAA. After arriving at the city hall, the two were picked up by a BSAA helicopter and flown out of the city. During the flight over the mountains, they were attacked by the paramilitary unit, Neo Umbrella, and crashed. As she and Muller trekked across the mountains, they were captured by the Ustanak and the C-Virus' creator, Dr. Carla Radames, and taken out to China. Sherry got to see again in China. Sherry got to see Kennedy again in China. After six months of experimentation by Neo Umbrella while sealed within a laboratory complex, Sherry and Muller finally made their escape, travelling through a medical facility and later speeding down the streets of Lanshiang, all the while being chased by J'avo. Regaining contact with Simmons, Sherry was ordered to rendezvous with him at the Kwun Lung building in Koocheng. En route, the pair ran into Agent Kennedy and Helena Harper near the ruins of a downed passenger airplane. From them, they learnt Simmons was responsible for the recent bioterror attacks, but she and Muller continued on to see Simmons in person. Arriving at the building just after Kennedy and Harper, Sherry demanded the truth, and further discovered President Adam Benford had been killed in one such attack. Muller and Sherry tried to escape as Simmons' bodyguards began shooting, but were captured by J'avo loyal to Radames, who had chosen to betray Simmons. Sherry and Jake escape the undersea lab after eliminating Ustanak. Sherry and Jake escape the undersea lab after eliminating Ustanak. Sherry and Muller woke up in an underwater laboratory complex on the Chinese coastline.[12] There, they discovered the BSAA agents Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans, who arrived at the request of Agent Kennedy. When a giant cocoon hatched, the four were forced to split up, Sherry and Muller made their way onto a train tunnel in the facility, where the mighty Ustanak appeared again for a last showdown. The two were able to kill the creature and escape the facility's destruction on board the train. After the events of Lanshiang, Muller handed over his blood sample to Sherry and left. Sherry, inside an airplane, received a message from Muller saying he lowered his original asking price of fifty million dollars to just fifty. From his blood, a vaccine for the C-Virus was distilled, and the outbreak was gradually contained. Raccoon City Syndrome (2026) For the 14 years since Neo-Umbrella's global attacks, Birkin remained in service with the DSO. However, at some point, Birkin and Kennedy started to exhibit black bruises across their bodies, a symptom shared by several survivors of the 1998 Raccoon City Destruction Incident. Unsure of its cause and concerned by a growing number of deaths across the United States, the DSO decided to initiate an investigation into the phenomenon, involving the help of their fellow agent Andrew Hughes. As time went on, Birkin's symptoms grew steadily in spite of the G-virus within her system. Its progression forced Birkin to briefly withdraw from active field duty and assumed a desk position as Kenendy's handler, temporarily replacing her predecessor Ingrid Hunnigan. Like Kennedy, however, Birkin concealed the visible sign of her deterioration from DSO. The first of which were dark, necrotic bruises on her left hand, discreetly hidden beneath a glove. On 6 October, Kennedy was dispatched to Elbridge, a place within Wrenwood, following the discovery of a 6th victim by the city's local law enforcement at an alley near a railway. Upon confirming the presence of black bruises on the victim, Kennedy received a tip from Birkin, regarding Victor Gideon, a person of interest in their ongoing investigation. Hearing a responding officer had gone missing where the 5th body was discovered, Birkin directed him to the abandoned Wrenwood Hotel. Arriving near the vicinity, Kennedy saw Gideon carrying an unconscious Grace Ashcroft while stuck in traffic. Following Gideon's escape by triggering a small outbreak, infecting civilians with his dart gun. Kennedy immediately ordered Birkin to have Wrenwood locked down, as he dealt with hostiles. Successfully containing the outbreak, Birkin gave Kennedy of Hughes's information, about Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, a place formerly ran by the Spencer Foundation and later bought by Gideon, following Umbrella's bankruptcy. Sherry finding out about the infection Sherry finding out about the infection However, the moment Kennedy arrived at Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, Gideon triggered an outbreak, killing all patients and staff. However, Kennedy rescued Ashcroft as she was being attacked by the girl, but was captured by Gideon who choked him unconscious. Hours after, Kennedy reported Birkin of Ashcroft's successful rescue but she wondered the reason for FBI's involvement. Eventually, Kennedy reached Gideon's private office and accessed his computer systems. Deliberately typing wrong passwords, Kennedy paved the way for Birkin to retrieved all data from Gideon's computers. However, the files confirmed their worst fears: their infection was linked to exposure to the T-virus they had during the Raccoon City outbreak, and had three terminal stages of infection before death. As they uncovered more, Birkin and Kennedy discovered Elpis and Ashcroft's involvement with it. Sherry exhibiting symptoms of Sherry exhibiting symptoms of Raccoon City Syndrome Sometime after, Ashcroft was willing to be taken to the ruins of Raccoon City, prompting Kennedy to chase after her and uncover of her connections to Elpis. During this time, Birkin briefly stepped away and observed the bruises had grown more pronounced, regularly taking oxycodone hydrochloride to stem the degradation. Later Birkin reestablished contact with Kennedy, and informed him there was nothing on CIA or Pentagon servers related to the keyword "Elpis". When Birkin asked for higher clearance, she was ordered to terminate the investigation, and relayed back to Kennedy. He was confused at the sudden obstruction but cautioned her against risking disciplinary or legal repercussions. Birkin refused to disengage, insisting she would continue to assist him regardless of the consequences. Arriving and navigating the Raccoon City ruins, Kennedy unexpectedly encountered an old BSAA field encampment established within the east side of Raccoon City. Inside, Kennedy accessed a field laptop and found they were heading to the Raccoon City Center, near the crater. As he was looking to the computers, Birkin informed Kennedy that her limited search of Pentagon records yielded no official authorization for the missile strike that had destroyed Raccoon City. During his exploration, Birkin briefed Kennedy on BSAA's internal incident, resulting in the North American branch operating independently. As Kennedy came across corpses of a BSAA unit, he plugged in a soldier's recording camera, relaying footage to Birkin who observed they were killed by a man sharing similar apperance and powers to that of Wesker. Kennedy asked Birkin to search for the man's identity, only to be told there were no public records of the man. Navigating to the center per Birkin's given coordinates from Gideon's computers, Kennedy arrived at the abandoned Raccoon Police Department, where they briefly reflected on their shared memories of the 1998 outbreak. During his search, Kennedy discovered the BSAA were using the building as their base, observing ARK as far back as February 5, 2023. Continuing on his search for Grace Ashcroft, Birkin could not contact Kennedy once he was deep into ARK. Kennedy assuring Birkin about another dose of the antiviral via radio contact Kennedy assuring Birkin about another dose of the Elpis antiviral via radio contact Following Gideon's death at the hands of Kennedy, and Ashcroft subsequent release of Elpis, discovered to be an antiviral. Kennedy and Ashcroft were both rescued under ARK's facility by the Hound Wolf Squad, sent by Chris Redfield. Topside, Kennedy reestablished communication with Birkin, and informed her he had survived the ordeal with Elpis and Redfield's assistance. Preparing to speak with Ashcroft who was recovering aboard a BSAA helicopter, Kennedy assured Birkin he had secured an antiviral dose for her, expressing confidence she would soon return to active duty. In response, Birkin thanked him before inquiring about Redfield’s whereabouts. Kennedy admitted he was uncertain of Redfield's current location and ended the call to attend to Ashcroft. Sometime later, Ashcroft received an update from Kennedy who told her Birkin was free of her syndrome.[13] 4. Zeno : Zeno (ゼノ zeno?) was a high-ranking member of a crime syndicate known as The Connections, which directly funded Victor Gideon's research on unlocking Elpis, a supposed virus created by Oswell E. Spencer with the goal of controlling human consciousness. This obsession eventually led to his death by the hands of Gideon himself as he refused to accept Victor's interpretation of Spencer's plans with Elpis and the realization that the effort was all for nothing.[1] Biology Zeno possesses nearly the same physical abilities and alterations as Albert Wesker, which were obtained from a V-ACT triggered by the Prototype Virus during the Spencer Mansion Incident, such as superhuman strength, high reflexes, speed, regeneration as well as endurance albeit weaker than Wesker's as Leon was able to sever his hand with his hatchet. Additionally, Zeno also has alterations to his eye color, but the shape of the pupil remained human and not reptilian. As demonstrated by the black marks on his face, Zeno is infected with the Raccoon City Syndrome, an infection that originates when a latent t-Virus adapts to the host's antibodies. However, he isn't physically weakened nor limited from its effects as his strength remains at peak condition. Zeno's condition and powers were reverted when he injected himself with Elpis under the false belief it would make him more powerful. Further Notes Zeno bears a striking psychical resemblance to the late bioterrorist and Project W. subject, Dr. Albert Wesker, although not directly stated in the game, he is sort of implied to be a clone of Wesker as demonstrated by his powers and in Victor's own words, "You're nothing but an imitation." Though further elaboration on Zeno's origins remains to be seen. Although still unconfirmed, Zeno could very well be Umbrella Co. "Executive" from Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps, a man heavily implied to be Albert Wesker in some shape or form. 5. Victor Gideon : Dr. Victor Gideon (ヴィクター・ギデオン vikutā gideon?) was a former Umbrella Corporation researcher who participated in the Tyrant Project, later working for The Connections. Following Umbrella's bankruptcy in 2003, he purchased the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, a medical facility previously owned by the Spencer Foundation, where he continued conducting clandestine experiments. Years after the Raccoon City Incident, Gideon identified the condition known as Raccoon City Syndrome, a lethal disease linked to a latent t-Virus strain. Obsessed with liberating Elpis, believed to be Oswell E. Spencer's final virus, Gideon worked alongside Zeno, a high-ranking member of The Connections, to conceal his activities. Investigative journalist Alyssa Ashcroft uncovered part of his operation and was ultimately murdered in 2018. During this period, he infected himself with the newly modified Nemesis-γ parasite that allowed him to retain his mind while giving him the strength, stature and durability traditional of the Nemesis, but also consuming his sanity over time. On October 8th, 2026, Gideon lured Alyssa's daughter, Grace, to the Wrenwood Hotel, falsely believing Grace to be the key to unlock Elpis. After delievering her to Zeno, it was revealed that Elpis was an antiviral, not a virus. Gideon betrayed The Connections and attempted to use Elpis to disrupt the power balance of the world but was killed by Leon S. Kennedy. 6. Harry Reed : Harry Reed (ハリー・リード Harī rīdo?) was a pilot working for Zeno and Victor Gideon, in flowing them to Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center. Sometime after, Reed was left to watch the helicopter and his key was confiscated in the events he might escape during the facility's outbreak. Eventually, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and a blind girl Emily were offered by Reed to flown them out of there, in exchange for Ashcroft to retrieve back his key in the house next to the helipad. Biography Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center Outbreak (2026) Not much is known about Reed's prior life, other than he had taken part in a war and sustained injuries to his leg. At some point, Reed was employed The Connections to flow their high-ranking agent Zeno and Victor Gideon, former Umbrella's scientist to the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center. During the course of the outbreak, Reed was left in the courtyard's helipad as the key to his helicopter was confiscated by his employers in case Reed might try to get away. After a period of waiting, Reed was met by FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, who was kidnapped by his employers, carrying a young blind patient named Emily. Initially, Ashcroft was suspicious of Reed's intentions, when he asked her to retrieve the key inside the cabin due to her faster mobility and easy outmaneuver against zombies. However, Reed offered to watch Emily, and flow them out of the care center; an offer in which she accepted. Afterwards, Ashcroft retrieved the key from the cabin, but the underground lab's self-destruction triggered by Gideon attracted many zombified patients towards the helipad. Ashcroft quickly handed the key to Reed who tried to jumpstart the helicopter. Initially, Ashcroft wanted to stay with Emily, but Reed urged her to take the co-pilot seat and tried to lift them up against the weight of many patients. Reed took off, but the zombies managed to break through the glass and grasp Reed who tried to fend them off, leading Ashcroft to take control of the destabilising helicopter. Eventually, they crashed to the care center's local cemetery where Reed was impaled in abdomen by a tree branch, killing him.[1] 7. Emily : Emily (エミリー Emirī?) is a clone created by The Connections in their pursuit to unlock Elpis. Blinded by human experimentation, she was found by Grace Ashcroft within the isolation ward of Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center. Emily was cured of her viral mutations and conditions thanks to Elpis and was adopted by Grace.[1] Biography Emily was born at some point prior to September 2026,[note 1] having been the product of ex utero gestation at ARK, a top-secret facility in Raccoon City. She was then driven out to the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center and kept in isolation separate from the other patients for the purpose of maintaining the secrecy of the research, and was given the designation "Subject 171".[2] She remained in the facility sealed behind a glass wall and limited to scheduled meetings by hospital staff; in a nearby chamber was her sister, Marie. During one experiment conducted on her she developed severe cataracts and was blinded. The hospital staff taught her braille to keep her occupied, while Marie was taken away following a failed experiment and, while intended to be euthanised, dug a hole out of her cell into the basement where she continued to mutate.[3][4] Emily was not told of the incident, and assumed Marie simply left. On 3 September 2026, Emily was given a new nurse, who was disturbed by Emily's lack of emotion in their interactions. During a visit on 24 September, another member of staff attended to ask her about blood, a subject she was unfamiliar with.[2] In October 2026 the facility was sabotaged on the orders of its director, Dr. Victor Gideon. Patients were covertly infected with a mutant t-Virus strain, killing those who escaped infection. Owing to her confinement, Emily was preserved. Jeff Gray, a staff member was brutally mauled nearby, but owing to her disability Emily assumed him to be gone. Emily was soon discovered by FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, who was able to free her with an ID wristband. As she was literate in braille, Emily was able to solve a puzzle crucial for escaping the institution, but she was soon captured by Marie; despite her cannibalistic tendencies, Marie maintained enough of her memory to preserve Emily, taking her to an underground prison cell with a collection of dolls. Ashcroft would later rescue her from the cell, nearly at the expense of her own foot, and they renewed their efforts to escape the hospital. While in the courtyard, the two were offered rescue by Harry Reed, a pilot who offered to fly them out by the hospital's helicopter. Their bid to escape was short-lived however Zombies attack on the helicopter led to it spinning out of control and crashing, killing Reed and severely injuring Emily. Ashcroft carried Emily into a nearby chapel under the protection of DSO agent Leon Scott Kennedy who told Ashcroft to escape to the water treatment facility. As Ashcroft desperately searched for a means of escape, Emily slowly succumbed to blood loss and stopped breathing. Ashcroft was successful in resuscitating Emily after a desperate attempt at CPR, but she began mutating out of control. With Emily no longer able to control her actions, Kennedy shot her. While the gunshot knocked her to the ground, it missed her vital organs and she was rescued by ambulance crews, sometime afterwards. In the incident's aftermath Emily was treated with Elpis, reversing her mutations and restoring her vision. She was taken in and raised by Ashcroft as her adopted daughter. 8. Oswell E. Spencer, Earl Spencer : Oswell E. Spencer, Earl Spencer (オズウェル・E・スペンサー Ozuweru Ī Supensā?) (c.1923-2006)[1] was an aristocratic British billionaire, virologist and eugenicist. One of the founders of Umbrella Pharmaceuticals, Lord Spencer was the CEO and President for its entire existence, which saw its expansion as the Umbrella Corporation over the 1980s as well as its bankruptcy in 2003. A cold, ruthless elitist and ambitious individual, Spencer mercilessly eliminated his rivals and gradually increased his power within the company, which he strictly controlled behind a veil of darkness.[4][5] Spencer had a vision to remake the world and lead it into a new era, seeing the world's current state as self-destructive. He intended to use the research data accumulated from Bio Organic Weapons to carry his vision out and mould a utopia for mankind with himself as its ruler.[6] Biography AD Early life The Spencer coat of arms. The Spencer coat of arms. Spencer was born into the prestigious Spencer family, considered for generations to be among the European elite.[7] Growing up in his family's castle overlooking a cliff on the British coastline, the young heir to the Spencer fortune was given a wide-ranging education, and developed hobbies of art collecting and hunting as befitting of his status.[excerpt 1] Among his studies were classic literature, Early Modern humanist treatises, and the mid-20th century eugenics movement. His personal favorite was the Natural History Conspectus, a rare late Victorian encyclopaedia which chronicled a 34-year trek through Africa by British explorer Henry Travis.[8] During Spencer's childhood, Europe was plunged into the Second World War. Nothing is known of Spencer's life during this period of time, though it is known his experience living during the war helped form his world views.[9] A picture of young Spencer in Miranda's lab. A picture of young Spencer in Miranda's lab. By the 1950s, Spencer was a university student training to be a physician.[9] There he became close friends with Edward Ashford and Dr. James Marcus.[7] While taking a solo hiking trip in Eastern Europe, he became lost due to his inexperience in the unfamiliar terrain and collapsed on a snow-covered road. There, he was rescued by Miranda, the priestess and biologist of an isolated mountain village which worshipped the Black God. Taken in by Miranda as a protégé, Spencer learned about the Mold and its ability to mutate, assimilate and replicate lifeforms, which inspired him a means to achieve evolutionist goals. Although he enjoyed his time with Miranda and the vast biological knowledge he gained from her, the two held very different world views, as Miranda longed to revive her deceased daughter while Spencer wished to change the world. Consequently, Spencer decided to leave the village, but would continue to keep in touch with Miranda by writing to her.[9] Returning to his university a changed man, Spencer became driven to replicate Miranda's achievements in his own way, as he deemed the Mold ineffective to achieving his goals. With the Cold War intensifying, Spencer began to view humanity as a race destined to fall, and believed that only through evolving mankind and attaining a superior moral code could this be averted. Though he lacked a means to accomplish this, he believed the answer lay within the emerging field of virology.[9] Soon, Spencer formed a eugenics circle of likeminded scientists, including Marcus and Ashford, as well as Lord Beardsley and Lord Henry.[10][11] AD Founding of Umbrella (1966-68) Lord Spencer, photographed in front of a statue in the Ndipaya . Lord Spencer, photographed in front of a statue in the Ndipaya Labyrinth. At the start of 1966, Spencer became engrossed once more in the Natural History Conspectus, having recalled an account about the Ndipaya, a West African tribe of skilled engineers whose rituals involved a magical flower which granted great power to those who could survive its poison.[12] While Spencer was initially treated with appropriate skepticism due to allegations of yellow journalism on behalf of Travis, Marcus hypothesized that a virus could be naturally produced by the flower and mutate the consumer.[13] This virus would theoretically hold great promise in eugenics, interesting the circle. In order to disprove or confirm the flower's significance, the three organized an expedition to West Africa to find it. While Spencer's involvement is uncertain, Marcus travelled to West Africa on a several month search for the Ndipaya with his protégé, Brandon Bailey, and returned by February 1967 with proof of the virus' existence, having isolated it within the Sonnentreppe flowers growing in the ruins of the Garden of the Sun.[13] Soon after research began on the virus, the Swiss university that Marcus worked for ostracized him following allegations of falsified data, which itself led to the cessation of government grants to his projects.[14] Spencer used this to his advantage and employed his charitable Spencer Foundation as a means of funding Marcus' research, on the condition that he operate within the Spencer Estate's lab and avoid contact with any scientist outside their circle.[14] Understanding the foundation would not be able to fund the project in its entirety, Spencer approached the circle in March 1967 with a suggestion that they establish a pharmaceutical company in order to raise the necessary funds.[13] Ashford and Marcus agreed to the project, despite an overall disinterest with Henry and Beardsley joining. Shortly afterward, Spencer informed his old teacher Miranda of the discovery of the Progenitor Virus, and decided to use the symbol that connected the Four Houses in her village as his company logo. A mansion mimicking his family home lay above Spencer's Arklay Laboratory. A mansion mimicking his family home lay above Spencer's Arklay Laboratory. Toward the end of the year, work concluded on a mansion built on Spencer's behalf in the Arklay Mountains, a massif in the American Midwest. The mansion itself was built atop limestone caverns which Spencer planned to use for the construction of an underground laboratory complex that would be hidden from public view. The biggest flaw in this construction project was that he chose a famous New York architect named George Trevor, known for surreal designs Spencer admired, to build it. Upon its completion, Spencer realized that Trevor knew all of the mansion's secrets, including the existence of an underground laboratory, and panicked. Spencer quickly made plans to dispose of Trevor, so that only he and his inner circle would know of the lab's existence. In November 1967, Spencer invited the entire Trevor family, including George, his wife Jessica, and 14-year-old daughter Lisa to the house to celebrate the completion of the mansion. Unbeknownst to the Trevor family, Spencer planned to use them all as test subjects in his Progenitor research. Due to a busy workload, George could not attend, but told Jessica and Lisa that he would join them at the house later. As soon as the two arrived on November 10,[15] they were dragged away by Spencer's employees and taken into the underground caverns as human research subjects for the Progenitor Virus. Jessica died soon after infection, though Lisa survived with mutations. As George arrived at the mansion, he was captured just the same, but escaped from his room. He eventually fell victim to one of his own traps and died.[16] Lisa was kept as a test subject and would finally die in 1998. At some point in the late 1960s, Spencer worked with another scientist who shared his eugenics ideals, Dr. Wesker. Believing that Progenitor would only be useful to mankind if they could be trusted with its powers, Spencer concluded that the genetically superior humans had to share his values to become the Übermenschen. Umbrella began abducting children with superior genes and intellect from around the world and raising them with access to the finest education that money could buy. Upon reaching adulthood, Umbrella would determine the cream of the crop and infect them. This highly classified project was dubbed the "Wesker Project", in the name of its leader. With Umbrella established, Spencer became increasingly paranoid that his friends would threaten his own eugenics project which he intended to steer towards making him a god in the new world order. Although he already controlled the project by 1967 when he secured Marcus' research, Spencer's paranoia escalated in 1968 while running Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. To procure more funding for their eugenics project, Umbrella entered a secret agreement with the United States military to produce biological weaponry and began further projects to create mutant virus strains for military use. The Umbrella founders each worked separately on what they dubbed the "t-Virus Project". Rather than perform his own research, Spencer left the Arklay Laboratory under the control of trusted executives and further worked with Lord Beardsley and Lord Henry. Marcus and Bailey continued to work on their own while Ashford worked alongside his son, Alexander, at their European home. With Progenitor cultures becoming too limited in number for large-scale research on the t-Virus Project, it became clear that Marcus and Bailey would have to travel to West Africa and secure more. Unlike the previous trek, Spencer instead hired mercenaries to force the Ndipaya off their land and secure the Garden of the Sun for Umbrella's own exclusive use. When news reached them about this success, Bailey was sent alone to cultivate the Progenitor samples at a lab built there, isolating him from Marcus. Marcus himself was given his own laboratory in the Arklay Mountains close to Spencer's own. The Umbrella Executive Training School served a dual role as both a laboratory for the t-Virus Project and as a boarding school for gifted children headhunted by the Spencer Foundation as promising new executive-scientists.[17][18] The first true victim of Spencer's paranoia was Ashford, who would die from exposure to his primitive t-Virus strain in a staged lab accident. While his son Alexander was a scientist, he was trained in genetics rather than virology, and was consequently unable to continue his father's work. This left only Marcus as the main competitor to Spencer, and so efforts were taken to steal Marcus' data for the benefit of Arklay's Laboratory. AD Securing of Power (1977-98) In 1977, the Spencer Foundation headhunted Albert Wesker for a job at Umbrella after he acquired a doctorate in virology at just age 17. Sent to the executive training school, Spencer ensured that Wesker and a fellow student, William Birkin, would abuse Marcus' trust in them and steal his research data. At the end of the school year, Spencer ordered the school and lab to be shut down, cutting Marcus off from his research staff and the children he used as test-subjects. Wesker and Birkin were immediately assigned to the Arklay Laboratory to take over as its chief researchers and used their knowledge of Marcus' research to drastically alter the Arklay Laboratory's own t-Virus project. Despite Spencer's near-total control over Umbrella, his paranoia continued to find new victims as Umbrella expanded to the point of possessing its own paramilitary, the Umbrella Security Service. Marcus continued to perform his own dedicated research into the late 1980s, hoping to use this to his advantage in securing the support of the board of directors in taking over the company. With Marcus now an immediate threat, Spencer ordered a U.S.S. raid on the training school and he was gunned down in 1988 with Birkin and Wesker in order to steal more research data. That same year, he personally backed their proposals in acquiring a Nemesis α parasite from France's No.6 Laboratory.[19] As Umbrella entered the 1990s, Spencer continued to take a direct role in the company's affairs despite his advancing age and confinement to a wheelchair. Beardley and Henry would both perish over the next decade with their research inherited by their respective children, Mylène and Christine, both of whom were child prodigies. Spencer and his associates at Sonido de Tortuga Island. Spencer and his associates at Sonido de Tortuga Island. Deeply interested in the newly discovered Golgotha Virus, which was being studied by Birkin and Christine in France, Spencer funded a new NEST facility in Raccoon City for the G-Virus Project. Although intrigued by the virus' potential use in eugenics, it was instead funded as another bio-weapon project for the US military. An alternative eugenics project was assigned to Dr. Alex Wesker, one of the Wesker Project subjects who Spencer became personally close to. Spencer awarded her with greater executive power through the construction of a laboratory at Sonido de Tortuga.[20] He also developed a close relationship with Col. Sergei Vladimir, a Spetznaz officer whom the Soviet Union had used in a human cloning trial during the Afghan War. In exchange for handing his ten clones over for research on the fledgling Tyrant Project, Vladimir became a powerful asset in protecting Spencer's control over the company. End of Umbrella (1998-2003) In May 1998, the Arklay Laboratory was sabotaged by one of Dr. Marcus' creations, Queen Leech. Its entire staff was either killed or infected, and escaped B.O.W.s drew national attention in their killings of out-of-state hikers. As part of the X-Day contingency, Albert Wesker sent two elite law enforcement teams from S.T.A.R.S. to the mansion to investigate. However, unbeknownst to these S.T.A.R.S. officers, they were deliberately pitted against Arklay's escaped B.O.Ws for the purpose of collecting combat data. Wesker's own orders were fourfold: gather this combat data, salvage whatever research he could from the Arklay Lab, ensure the death of all S.T.A.R.S. members, and destroy the lab so the truth of Umbrella's responsibility could never get out. Spencer's right-hand man, Colonel Sergei Vladimir, was also sent in personally for the task of recovering an experimental Tyrant and Umbrella's U.M.F.-013 supercomputer. While Vladimir was successful, Wesker instead chose to fake his own death and hand the data over to a rival company, while several S.T.A.R.S. members escaped from the mansion intent on beginning a police investigation of Umbrella. In the immediate fallout, an executive named Morpheus D. Duvall was scapegoated for the containment failure and began a bioterror plot to steal the viral samples in vengeance. Publicly, the so-called "Mansion Incident" did not harm Umbrella, thanks to its influence over the local Raccoon City media, police, and local government. However, a combination of this incident, Albert Wesker's betrayal, and Spencer's own refusal to admit Dr. Birkin to his inner circle would be the trigger for Umbrella's downward spiral. Dr. Birkin, slighted by Spencer's rejection, dumped the t-Virus around Raccoon City in order to neutralize the other Umbrella facilities while he himself prepared to hand the G-Virus over to the US military, who were intent on starting their own bioweapons project, in exchange for protection. Spencer learned of Birkin's planned betrayal and sent Umbrella Security Services to take Birkin into custody and acquire the G-Virus. When Birkin refused to comply, an Umbrella soldier gunned him down and the team proceeded to take his suitcase, which contained all of his work, with them. However, the fatally wounded Birkin still had one G-Virus sample left in his possession and used it on himself, mutating into a powerful monster in the process. The now mutated Dr. Birkin pursued Umbrella's soldiers into the sewers and slaughtered most of them, although HUNK survived. This altercation accidentally caused several t-Virus samples to fall to the floor and break, and infected rats would soon spread the virus into the city's water supply. Over the next week, the city collapsed into anarchy as thousands of infected took part in cannibalistic murders. Aware that Raccoon City was doomed and the company no longer capable of lobbying against a Senate committee action, Spencer ordered Colonel Sergei Vladimir to recover the U.M.F.-013 from Raccoon City and take it to a safe location. On October 1, 1998, Spencer awoke to news of the US President's bombing of the city. By this point, Umbrella's responsibility had become public knowledge, and the US Congress voted in an act to liquidate Umbrella's USA branch and ban the company from conducting any future business in the country. In 1999, Spencer assembled expert lawyers, fake witnesses, and bribes during the Raccoon Trials to divert all responsibility to the US government. He also purchased an abandoned chemical plant in the Caucasus region of Southern Russia and commissioned the construction of a secret underground laboratory, which would become the de facto base of operations for Umbrella.[21][22] Unwilling to acknowledge their breaching of international law to obtain bioweaponry or even acknowledge B.O.W.s in general, the US government remained in a stalemate with Umbrella. This stalemate ended in early 2003 when Albert Wesker leaked excerpts of the recovered U.M.F.-013 data to the court.[23] Umbrella was found liable for damages and subsequently bankrupted. An international arrest warrant on Spencer was filed by both the United States and Russian Federation. Spencer, now an international fugitive, secluded himself in his family estate where he would spend the remaining years of his life. AD Final Years (2003-2006) "When one buries a treasure, one should not leave behind a map..." — Excerpt from a journal entry regarding Spencer's plan to eliminate executives.[24] Spencer Estate, the spot that served as Lord Spencer's hideout after the fall of Umbrella. Spencer Estate, the spot that served as Lord Spencer's hideout after the fall of Umbrella. Intent on establishing a future successor to Umbrella, Spencer was obsessive in maintaining what little order he had left. Right after the Raccoon City bombing in November 1998, he ordered a purge of senior executive staff to prevent the United States from ever learning about Progenitor.[24] Over the next few years, he had little to no contact with the outside, seen only by his loyalist bodyguards and his butler, Patrick. His increasingly erratic behavior coincided with his depression and failing health. However, intent on surviving long enough to see the rebirth of his organization, Spencer ordered Alex Wesker to begin research into a mutagenic virus capable of restoring his youth and supplied her with funding, equipment, research material, several hundred test subjects, and the research facility on Sonido de Tortuga Island to this end.[25][26][27] Alex herself had no love for Spencer and betrayed him, disappearing after she gave up on the project and taking the results, her subordinates, and the test subjects to Sein Island in the Baltic Sea. Death "I was to become a god... creating a new world with an advanced race of human beings. However, all was lost with Raccoon City. Despite that setback, your creation still holds great significance. Now my candle burns dimly. Ironic isn't it? For one who has the right to be a god! To face his own mortality..." — Spencer's final words to Wesker.[3] By 2006, Spencer was close to death. He lacked the strength to eat solid foods and spent most of his days sitting in his study.[7] In a desperate last effort to survive, he ordered Patrick to assist him in the development of a new virus by using test subjects confined beneath the Spencer Estate in the hopes of healing his body.[28] As these experiments led to several failed mutations, Spencer realized that his death was inevitable. He conceded that he would never realize his plan himself and enlisted Patrick to leak information on his location to Albert Wesker through an associate. Spencer then dismissed Patrick from his duties and was left with only his bodyguards at the estate, waiting for Wesker to find him.[29] Spencer tells Wesker of his origins. Spencer tells Wesker of his origins. In August 2006, Wesker entered the castle and brutally murdered Spencer's guards before heading into Spencer's private office. In their meeting, Spencer explained the Wesker Project to him, and why he himself was infected with a Progenitor virus strain. However, Spencer lied when he claimed he was the sole survivor of the Wesker Project, probably in order to keep him focused on his goal and prevent him from pursuing Alex. In general, Wesker was disinterested in Spencer's vision and, while not expecting this frail old man to be much competition to own goals, nevertheless decided to tie him up as a loose end. He brutally killed Spencer by knife-handing him through the chest, proclaiming that Spencer was not capable of being a god and, as such, never had the right to aspire to that goal.[3] 9. Rolando Elba : Rolando Elba (ロランド・エルバ Ro rando eruba?) is a BSAA operator who took part in a special operation in a mountain village in Eastern Europe. He went by the codename "Umber Eyes" in Chris Redfield's elite Hound Wolf Squad as the team's sniper, as well as its second in command.[1] Elba, alongside the rest of the squad, was later sent by Redfield into the ruins of Raccoon City on October 26th, to recover Division of Security Operations agent Leon Scott Kennedy as well as Elpis. Biography AD Village Incident (2021) In February 2021 in Eastern Europe, he helped his captain Chris Redfield to infiltrate the Winters' home with the aim of eliminating Miranda, who had surreptitiously taken the place of Mia Winters in an effort to steal the couple's daughter Rosemary Winters. Sometime later, after Miranda escaped, he and other members arrived at the overturned convoy to find the escorts killed and the remaining Winters nowhere to be found. Sometime after, Elba and others set up a research post in the Reservoir area just outside the village's central to monitor the situation and examine the Mold around the Village. Elba and his teammates were attacked by Moreau in his mutated fish-creature form but all made it out alive. Sometime later, he and the others maintained visual observation of Miranda at the ceremony site, which they documented and reported to their captain. After Ethan Winters's supposed death at the hands of Miranda, they regrouped to discuss the mission objective to kill Miranda. When Redfield found Mia being held up in Miranda's lab, he feared she might be the shapeshifting Miranda in disguise. Redfield asked Elba about Miranda's whereabouts and Elba assured his captain Miranda was still at the ceremony site. When Elba heard Mia's name, he was surprised to hear she was actually still alive. As the N2 bomb previously planted by Redfield on the Fungal Root, and the temporarily revived Ethan Winters stayed behind to detonate it, Elba and his teammates escaped the isolated Eastern European village as it went off.[2] ARK Discovery and Elpis (2026) In October 2026, Elba and his fellow members of Hound Wolf Squad were deployed to the ruins of the Raccoon City quarantine zone following Redfield's knowledge of ARK, Elpis, and DSO agent Leon Scott Kennedy's involvement. The squad’s primary objective was to extract Kennedy and FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft. A secondary directive tasked the unit with recovering antiviral agent Elpis samples from the underground ARK facility on behalf of the BSAA. In Redfield’s absence, Elba was placed as operational commander of the squad. Notably, despite having operated independently of the BSAA since 2021, the Hound Wolf Squad was deployed in coordination with regular BSAA units during the mission. The team arrived after the destruction of the ARK facility, rappelling into the devastated structure and located Kennedy and Ashcroft alive. With the remainder of the squad securing the perimeter, Elba radioed his commander Redfield, and confirm the agents’ survival. Approaching Kennedy, Elba relayed the message Redfield had for him. Upon completion of their objectives, the Hound Wolf Squad extracted Kennedy and Ashcroft from the area, leaving other BSAA operatives to secure the area. Following the squad’s withdrawal, a Connections recovery unit infiltrated the site, eliminated the remaining BSAA on-duty personnel. The two Connections soldier secured their objective, and hastily retreat before the Hound Wolf Squad returned.[3] 10. Marie : Marie (マリー Marī?) (d.9 October 2026) was a genetically engineered test subject. Biography Marie was born at some point prior to 2026 at ARK,[note 1] a top-secret facility in Raccoon City which survived the 1998 missile strike. She was kept at the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center along with Emily, another clone of the same donor. Both girls were part of a project under Dr. Victor Gideon to produce a clone with inherited memories for use in activating Project Elpis and was designated "Subject 170". She remained in the facility sealed behind a glass wall and limited to scheduled meetings by hospital staff, with Emily in the next cell. A number of clones had lived and died in the facility, all in order to replace Grace Ashcroft, who Gideon believed to be the only successful test subject but who he had no access to. At some point in 2026 Marie was administered 2.3ml of infected mixed blood. The procedure resulted in her developing increased physical strength, but the intended goal of memory inheritance was not demonstrated. Marie became unstable and escaped her cell by burrowing through the concrete wall and into the basement. Orders were given for Marie to be euthanised if caught.[1] Accounts of her mutations confirmed her new intolerance to light, and it was resolved that high-intensity ultraviolet lights be placed in the basement to trap her. The staff perished before they could complete their plan, with Marie eating them alive one at a time.[2][3] On 8 October, the facility was sabotaged by Gideon, who saw no need for the facility anymore after apprehending Ashcroft. With a mutant t-Virus strain spreading around the hospital, the hospital staff were no longer in control, and Marie made the east wing her hunting ground. Marie found Ashcroft but was foiled by DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy and fled. Later in the night Marie found Ashcroft attempting to escape the facility with Emily and abducted her, placing her safely in a cell in the basement with her collection of dolls. Despite her efforts, Marie was outsmarted by Ashcroft who used the high-intensity lights as a weapon and escaped outside with Emily. Marie made one further attempt in the water treatment plant and was finally killed when Grace opens the hatch to let the intense UV ray from the sun to melt her into goo. 11. Chloe : Chloe (クロエ Kuroe?) was a Series 70 genetically-engineered test subject. Biography Chloe was born at some point in the 1980s and was a resident at Raccoon City Orphanage, an Umbrella research outpost. She was the result of a human cloning experiment designed to produce a steady stream of test subjects for research into memory transfer, ultimately part of Oswell E. Spencer's goal to achieve immortality. By February 1990 she and the Series 60 clones were infected with the viral prototype, and while her fellow clones developed mental instabilities Umbrella saw promise that Chloe's condition would stabilise.[1] The experiment was thrown into chaos in February when the Series 60 children rebelled and began killing the research staff. Chloe was able to escape the orphanage by using an underground hatch, leading her to a chapel used for the internment of failed experiments. Through her intuition Chloe was able to gain access to the ARK where she discovered her origins before being captured by ARK research staff. Through an eye exam it was determined she was showing symptoms similar to the Series 60 children. Deemed a failure, she was likely euthanized like the rest of the failed test subjects. 12. The Commander : The Commander (特殊部隊(ボス) tokushu butai (bosu)?, translation: "Special Forces Leader") was a high-ranking member of the private paramilitary forces employed by The Connections, a crime syndicate involved in the development and trafficking of bioweapons. He was defeated by Leon S. Kennedy during a confrontation in the ARK Laboratory. Biography In 2026, the Commander was present at the ARK Laboratory when Kennedy infiltrated the facility to locate and rescue Grace Ashcroft. The Commander was presumably responsible for ordering his Elite Special Forces to hunt Kennedy throughout the ARK and, once his unit was dispatched, personally intercepted him before he could reach the Central Refining System. Although the Commander initially had the upper hand against Kennedy, he chose not to finish him off during a Raccoon City Syndrome-induced coughing fit, chuckling to himself and giving Leon time to recover and allowing the two to fight evenly in one-on-one combat. The Commander was eventually defeated by Kennedy. Although he was presumably killed, his body vanished shortly afterward, leaving his ultimate fate unknown. Further Notes Several key pieces of evidence point to the Commander being the former U.S.S. Alpha Team leader, HUNK. The strongest pieces of evidence are his symptoms of Raccoon City Syndrome, which are visible on his hand after the fight, as well as the fact that he shares the same current voice actor as HUNK, Keith Silverstein. Additionally, much of the ARK facility's concept art features a character bearing HUNK's likeness, including his helmet. During the fight, he may attempt HUNK's neck snap finisher on Leon. His gear also bears a strong resemblance to the gear typically worn by HUNK, with the notable exception of the PASGT-style helmet. --- Plot of {{char}} : Wrenwood (Grace) Taking place in October 2026, 28 years after the Raccoon City Destruction Incident, Federal Bureau of Investigation's intelligence analyst Grace Ashcroft is investigating the latest strings of mysterious death happening across the United States of America, with four victims being former survivors of Raccoon City outbreak. She was approached by her supervisor Special Agent-In-Charge Nathan Dempsy who asks her to go back to the abandoned Wrenwood Hotel where a fifth body was found. Dempsy sympathises with Grace's lost mother—investigative journalist Alyssa Ashcroft who was murdered in the same place 8 years ago—and gives her the option to investigate the crime scene and report back her findings. Wanting to understand the nature of her mother's murder, Ashcroft agrees to go. In the city of Wrenwood, a neighbouring city to the desolate ruined Raccoon City, Grace arrives at an alley where she presents her identity to city's local officer Norman Cole who informs her the hotel was to be soon torn down. Checking inside the building, Grace finds a photo of herself and key to Room 204. Investigating the room, Grace finds a bed filled with numerous photos of herself and her mother, eventually settling a photo taken on the night of the murder. In 2018, Grace's mother Alyssa was a freelance journalist and nomadic traveller, and were staying at Wrenwood Hotel with her daughter. That night, a phone rang to Ashcroft who confirmed her identity before being rudely hanged up. Shortly after, a blackout came and Alyssa who was stalked for the past two days by a hooded man, quickly told Grace to escape despite her confusion. Arriving at the reception, the unnamed Wrenwood Hotel Manager reassured them the power outage was natural before killed by the hooded man. Acting quickly, Alyssa shot him several times before closing the door on him. Nearly at the emergency door, Grace suffered a nervous breakdown after calling the police, despite her mother's insistence not to. Alyssa reassured her daughter, and reminded her she was "her hope", though Grace did not understand. Leaving, Alyssa's neck was severed by the hooded man before fainting and causing arson, leaving Grace to mourn her mother. Eventually, the hotel was forced to shut down due to the damage's extent. Since the murders, Grace joined Federal Bureau of Investigation and worked as its intelligence analyst. In the present day, Grace receives an anonymous silent call. Creeped out, Grace tries to leave the hotel and sees a man's shadow walking by. However, before leaving, Grace remembers her mother having hide her bag behind a painting shortly before her death. She recovers her mother's journal and a floppy disk, before encountering officer Cole again, now dazed and confused and clutching at his neck. Cole turns into a zombie, and Grace gets herself accidentally trapped at the luggage cart. Cole tries to kill her with a shotgun, but Grace gets away and runs to the second floor. However, Grace is grabbed and bitten on the forearm, before using a glass shard to propel the zombified Cole outside, killing him. Hearing music playing upstairs, Grace walks upstairs to see a man sitting by the fireplace. He tells her he had planted the fifth body here to lure her, and she is the chosen one. Grace tries to run but is choked and knocked unconscious by the man. AD Wrenwood Outbreak (Leon) Elsewhere in Wrenwood, Division of Security Operations agent Leon Scott Kennedy and his current FOS support Sherry Birkin are investigating the newly appeared sixth body at an alley near the railway in Elbridge. One of their fellow agent, Andrew Hughes discovers their person of interest to be former Umbrella scientist Victor Gideon, who did not attend the Raccoon Trials and contributed Umbrella's downfall. Hearing Sherry's tip about a missing officer reported near where the fifth body was found, Leon heads there but is stuck in traffic. However, Leon witnessed Victor carrying an unconscious Grace, and rushes out to chase him. A concerned pedestrian is worried for Grace, but is shot in the neck with a dart gun by Victor who did the same to multiple people, triggering a small outbreak. Leon did his best to contain the outbreak, and orders Sherry to have Wrenwood quickly quarantined. By the time the outbreak is contained, Leon loses track of Victor but Sherry points out Victor may be heading for Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, an institution formerly funded by Spencer Foundation and later bought by Victor, following Umbrella's closure. Awaking at Rhodes Hill (Grace) Somewhere in the care center, Grace wakes up to find herself being slowly drained of blood. Using the IV line and broken shards of blood container, Grace frees herself from her restrains. During her search, Grace is pursued by a creature in hospital gown and wavy white hair. Managing to lift the segregating bars, leading to central hall, Grace tries to crawl herself free but the creature catches and throws her against the wall, before being dragged away by the girl. Arriving at Rhodes Hill (Leon) Arriving at Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, on just the outskirts of Wrenwood, Leon visits the institution where he meets a nurse who tells him Dr. Gideon has been expecting him, and guides him to the East Wing Hospital Wards. She informs him she was recently hired, and the facility catered to long-term patients. Unaware he was being surveilled on, Leon is told to wait until alarms blares Code 6, and the nurse immediately returns to inform him a mass hysteria is occurring, unaware staff and patients had been infected. The nurse is killed with a chainsaw, and Leon defends himself against new infected. As he explores, Leon accidentally comes across the moment Grace manages to lift the bars open, and being dragged away. He comes to her aid in time and shoots the creature's head, seemingly killing it. As Grace rushes outside, Leon informs her of his identity and in turn she to hers. Confused on FBI's presence, Leon asks the reason she was kidnapped by Victor, but Grace remains confused. When he tries to leave, Victor, in hiding, triggers the facility's lockdown, separating them both. Before the shutters fully closed, Leon gives her his weapon Requiem and tells her to leave. He meets Victor who tries to initiate a conversation, but Leon attacks him. However, Victor disarms Leon and chokes him unconscious, commenting that he too was afflicted with the "Umbrella's Curse" after spotting the black bruises on his body.
