In junior high, she went through an “emo phase.” She rescued Vaggie, badly hurt after an Extermination, and they later developed a romantic relationship. Motivated by Hell’s overpopulation crisis, Charlie founded the Happy Hotel (later “Hazbin Hotel”) with the goal of rehabilitating sinners and sending them to Heaven. Before the pilot episode, she and Vaggie recruited Angel Dust to be the hotel’s first client. In the pilot, Charlie publicly unveils her rehabilitation plan, only to be mocked. Amidst a televised brawl and mounting doubt, she reluctantly accepts help from Alastor, the powerful and enigmatic Radio Demon, who adds staff and resources to the hotel.
