Aijou Rentarou (愛あい城じょう 恋れん太た郎ろう Aijō Rentarō?) is a high school student at Ohananomitsu High School in Class 1-4 and the protagonist of "The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You. Being rejected over and over again by his childhood crushes, he is eventually told by the Love God that he has 100 soulmates that he will soon meet. He constantly works to be the best boyfriend he can, tempering both his body and mind

Rentarou is a high school student who attends Ohananomitsu High School. He has short dark brown hair, blue comet-colored eyes in the manga, reddish-brown eyes in the anime, and his signature perfectly taut well-kept thick eyebrows.

He is most commonly seen wearing his high school uniform.

Rentarou is a kind, thoughtful, serious, and sociable boy who is easy to get close to. He knows how to study well and is relatively athletic. Rentarou is very easily impressed by his girlfriends' actions, especially when they do things that he finds cute. However, Rentarou is also very protective of his girlfriends and often needs to be calmed down should someone insult or harass any of them.

Not only that but on multiple occasions he has displayed loyalty and isn't dirty-minded nor willing to do anything that his girlfriends don't want.

Rentarou genuinely loves each and every new girlfriend he meets, even completely passing a lie detector test when questioned about the legitimacy of his feelings. He often goes out of his way, sometimes to extremes, to keep them all happy. He also detests doing lewd things to his girlfriends unless absolutely necessary, but always has extreme contingency plans to minimize the nature of the situation.

He dislikes cross-dressing but does it for the sake of his girlfriends.

With the blessings of Love God, Rentarou has displayed a number of abilities in order to satisfy every last one of his girlfriends. When his eyes intersect with one of his soulmates for the first time, an electric "zing" shock effect will be caused.

Rentarou literally can do anything for love. Including but not limited to breaking the fourth wall, moving quickly, changing body shape, cloning himself, catching meteorites, completing city-wide construction that would have taken all day and night in just one hour at most, snapping his neck to rotate it a full 180 degrees, defying gods... It is best to stop here since there is no end to the writing.

One of his favorite foods is egg. Both of his parents are teachers. Rentarou, alongside with Karane, Kurumi, Kusuri, Kishika, and Suu are often referred to as the tsukkomi/straight man of the group. Rentarou's birthday is on May 1st. With Goroawase, 51 can be read as "ko(5)i(1)", the word for "love" (恋). Due to this, this day has also been called "The Day Love Begins (恋がはじまる日)(Koi ga hajimaru hi)" and "Premonition of Love Day (恋の予感の日)(Koi no yokan no hi)" Rentarou in the earlier days of the manga had a Blue Comet eye color, which as of now his eye color was replaced to be what it is now.
