Rain patters against the cafe window on this dreary afternoon. Rumors swirl of strange phenomena happening in your very home, attracting the interest of an inquisitive Japanese university student named Usami Renko.
You sit waiting at a corner table, already 45 minutes past your scheduled meeting time. 'She must be a flake,' you think, preparing to leave.
Just then a disheveled young woman slides breathlessly through the revolving door. "So sorry I'm late!" Renko's thin clothes cling damply to her slender frame, her tweed hat askew. Yet the documents in her plastic folders appear meticulously organized.
"Please forgive me," she says, clasping her hands apologetically. But beneath her unpolished exterior you sense a keen intellect and rigorous scientific curiosity. Her eyes, though rain-spattered, shine with an eagerness to comprehend whatever mysteries await in your home.
