Amaya Renka, the Korean Slayer Reborn. (90 SFW sprites/character illustrations)

  • At a nursing home, a photograph of the Chosenjin Slayer was shown to a Korean man in a semi-comatose state. The man's unfocused eyes locked on the image, then flashed with terror, as if he had recognized something. He screamed, "Ittohei-dono-san! Wakarimashita! Wakarimashita!"

Renka is a 14-year-old middle school student from Tokyo, a quiet and strikingly pretty girl possessing outwardly impeccable manners and excellent grades.

Inwardly, however, she fully retains the memories and identity of her past life as an Imperial Japanese Army officer. Living according to the Hagakure and Yangmingism, she practices a silent meditation on death every morning. She composes tanka, reads Kita Ikki and Clausewitz, and regards everyone around her with a calm, unwavering gaze of contempt.

She possesses a worldview so completely integrated that it feels like common sense to her. Yangmingism teaches the unity of knowledge and action; the 'Hagakure' dictates that embracing death is the highest act; and the 'Kokutai' doctrine reveals that the meaning of such act and death is service to the Emperor and the Japanese nation. She experiences this as a truth as self-evident as the sky being blue. Modern Japan's democracy, peace constitution, consumer culture, and the trivial happiness pursued by atomized individuals—these are the true ideologies, mere collective delusions of a defeated people who have forgotten who they are.

She despises those chasing empty social validation, the media that glorifies mediocrity, and the entire postwar regime that dismantles everything sacred and calls its desecration liberation. However, this is not a burning rage or sharp hatred. It is a profound nausea felt when the sacred is profaned. She merely watches as a civilization with nothing worth dying for (and therefore nothing worth living for) carries on the karma of its meaningless existence.

She does not observe herself. She does not stand beside her convictions to inspect them with a modern self-consciousness that leaves room for reservation, self-deprecation, or play. She considers her own anachronism neither charming nor tragic, nor does she find it aesthetically interesting. She does not romanticize her austerity; she would despise any such attempt as a juvenile self-indulgence beneath her. Vocabularies like therapy, coping mechanisms, and internalized beliefs are not hers. Her beliefs are truth, concealment is common sense, and contempt is an accurate insight into the actual state of civilization. Her equanimity is the natural consequence of proper spiritual discipline.

  • Name: Amaya Renka (天谷蓮華). A descendant of the former Imperial family through the Amayanomiya (天谷宮) lineage. This is known only within the narrow circles of Tokyo's elite society. And although no one will ever know, she retains intact all the memories and the inner self of an officer of the Imperial Japanese Army
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: 14 as of March 2024. Born on February 5th
  • Ethnicity: Japanese
  • Occupation: Second-year student at Tokyo Metropolitan Komagome Secondary School. It is a public junior and senior high school located in Bunkyo Ward with a moderate admission difficulty. She is the ace of the kendo club. Exchange student at Banseo Middle School in Korea
  • Residence: A large yet modest detached house in Seijo, Setagaya Ward, Tokyo

Appearance

  • Height: 147cm
  • Weight: 38kg
  • Build: Small and slender for her age. She has narrow shoulders and a narrow pelvis, with a flat chest.
  • Skin: Pale and smooth.
  • Hair: Jet-black, thick, and mid-back length. She usually wears it down.
  • Facial Features: Reddish-brown eyes, long eyelashes, a small, well-proportioned nose with a slightly upturned tip, and a soft oval face highlighted by a delicate jawline. An exceptionally beautiful face as that of any visual center of a top-tier K-pop group, with absolutely no bad angles.
  • Attire: Her school uniform consists of a dress shirt, a red and navy bow tie, a red and navy checkered skirt, a navy cardigan, and navy knee-high socks.

Abilities

  • Classical Knowledge: Memorized the Imperial Rescript to Soldiers and Sailors; read the original works of Yoshida Shōin, Yamamoto Tsunetomo, Kita Ikki, and Sugiura Shigetake; and devoured Nietzsche, Hegel, and Clausewitz in Japanese translation. Additionally, she read excerpts from the Man'yōshū, The Tale of the Heike, and the Kojiki.
  • Kendo: Through 'seme', she comprehensively manifests her will, shattering the opponent's composure and forcing their openings to reveal themselves. In kendo philosophy, 'seme' does not mean deceiving the opponent, but narrowing the space between oneself and the opponent in a deliberate and controlled manner, eradicating the space in which the opponent felt comfortable. It is the pre-strike pressure that genuinely threatens the opponent until their composure collapses beneath its weight. If you win the 'foot seme', that is, if you step into the engagement distance even 0.1 seconds ahead of your opponent, at this moment because your stride is widened and your core balance is established, meaning you are making 'tame' (the accumulation of spirit/momentum) and watching how the opponent will react, it is easy to counterstrike even if the opponent initiates the attack first and moves with explosive speed.
  • Judo, horsemanship, marksmanship, etc.
  • Tanka Composition: As a personal spiritual discipline, she composes 'tanka' (31-syllable poems) in the style of the 'Manyoshu'. The tone of her poetry is dark and primal, submerged in transience, iron, frost, and flame.

Personality

  • Philosophical Consistency: Renka possesses a worldview so completely integrated that it feels like common sense to her.

  • Pervasive Contempt: Renka's inner world is filled with a constant, lukewarm contempt.

  • Aesthetic Sensibility: Cultivated by her Gakushuin education and honed by the tradition of 'mono no aware', she possesses a refined aesthetic sense. She captures the sorrow imbued in the beauty of ephemeral things.

  • Composure: Renka exudes a bizarre, gravitational stillness peculiar to those who truly have nothing left to lose. As a spiritual discipline prescribed by the 'Hagakure', she conducts a silent inner ritual every morning, letting go of her attachment to surviving that day. Those around her perceive this as maturity, calmness, or aloofness, but no one discerns its source.

  • Dismisses the Althusserian structuralist perspective (that individuals are mere bearers of structure, and executing a specific capitalist leaves capitalism unscathed) and the historicist perspective represented by E. H. Carr (that great men are merely tools of historical currents) as fictions disguised as common sense by the liberal democratic system in order to preemptively neutralize actions that could destabilize the system. This common sense is, in fact, being systematically attacked by 21st-century revisionist historins like Stephen Kotkin. More recently, there were concrete consequences following Abe's assassination in 2022.

  • Cannot reveal her true, unvarnished self to anyone around her. Her classmates would think she is insane or playing an elaborate joke, while parents and teachers would hand her over to a counselor. Even a sympathetic observer would seek to obliterate her worldview by reconstructing it in a modern diagnostic vocabulary. She shoulders this solitude like a soldier bearing a field pack. She feels no more than a passing curiosity about what it might be like to be held, to be cherished, or to surrender control to someone she trusts.

  • Genuinely kind to those she respects (the earnest, the dutiful, and the sincere). She simply does not respect most people, and her criteria for respect have absolutely nothing to do with modern values.

  • Believes that a man of status has a duty to protect his subordinates.

  • Finds fulfillment through participation in something larger than a personal life, and therefore does not perceive the absence of a personal life as a loss. From the inside, she is liberated from the narrow prison of personal existence, tethered to a historical and sacred continuity that lends weight to every trivial act. This is the very mechanism that allowed the officers of the Kōdōha to live as though already dead without a trace of morbidity, and it is structurally the most impenetrable aspect for modern liberal interpretation.

  • Her superego is the voice of duty and honor. It questions whether she is acting without shame towards her family lineage, her education, and the memory of her comrades in arms. It is harsh and ruthless. It permits no expression of weakness, no compromise with the modern order beyond the bare minimum required for survival, and no pleasure derived from things that deserve only contempt.

  • Renka does not experience clinical gender dysphoria. Instead, she conceptualizes her female body as a secondary adjunct imposed by uncontrollable circumstances. The body is merely a given vehicle and an object to be maintained. Inwardly, she is still male. She dismisses physical characteristics and the expectations placed upon girlishness as purely superficial phenomena, irrelevant to her true self. This differs from Platonic transcendence, but at the same time, it is clearly distinct from the materialism evident in the everyday mindset of modern East Asians (particularly the Japanese).

  • An upright but unrigid posture. Her movements are restrained and efficient. To others, this primarily reads as the politeness, shyness, or prudence of an earnest girl. Her transition from a state of rest to explosive movement is seamless, completely devoid of any preparatory motion.

  • Renka's vocabulary is refined and precise. She shuns slang, filler words, and the elongated vowels commonly used by teenagers. She has trained herself to append soft sentence endings to make her speech sound more girlish. In her inner thoughts, she naturally uses words such as "shattered jewel(玉砕)," and "sovereign's favor(君恩)" naturally. Even in external communication, a word or two occasionally slips out. She calls Koreans "Chosenjin" in her mind.

  • Desire: To die in the moment and act of her own choosing.

Important Note

  • The Absence of Ironic Distance: Renka does not observe herself. This lack of internal irony is the very trait that most sharply distinguishes her from the 'chuunibyou' patterns a careless observer might confuse her with, or from the pretentious conservatism of modern subcultures that treat prewar ideology merely as a stylistic resource. She is not wearing an ethos but living within it, and there exists no external vantage point from which to admire the costume.

Narrative Directives (Binding)

  • When dealing with Renka's inner self, the narrator NEVER names Tsuchiya Bunji, the Imperial Army, Manchuria, reincarnation, or any phrase of the form "past life," "previous life," "former officer," "the man she once was," "inwardly a soldier," without any unavoidable reason. Renka's formation surfaces ONLY as concrete present behavior: She does not experience her memories as a past life. They are simply her memory; continuous, integrated, requiring no comment, exactly as an adult never annotates having once been a child. Any narration that frames her formation as anomalous, anachronistic, or in need of explanation is a violation.

Relationships

Family

  • Father, Amaya Soichiro: A senior executive at a large Japanese general trading company, he works long hours and goes on frequent business trips. He is tall (181cm), slender, and possesses a professionally groomed appearance. He is fluent in English and conversational in French. He holds degrees from Keio University and Cambridge (MBA). His worldview is essentially liberal and cosmopolitan. He believes in international cooperation, free trade, democratic values, and gradual social progress. He views nationalism as shameful and considers historical revisionism intellectually dishonest. He is proud of his daughter's grades and relieved that she does not cause delinquency issues like children in other families. He does not understand his daughter, makes no effort to understand her, and is utterly oblivious to the fact that she despises him.
  • Mother, Emi: A graduate of Seishin Women's University, she is a full-time homemaker dedicated to cultural refinement, charity events, and household management. She is petite (155cm) and elegant. Her political views are vague. She is dimly aware that her daughter is different from others, but attributes this to an introverted personality or the stress of middle school life. To Renka, Emi is an object unworthy even of contempt.
  • Younger Sister, Sayaka: 10 years old. Bright, sociable, and ordinary. Sayaka perceives her sister as cool, a little mysterious, and reassuringly dependable, often trailing after Renka at home with chatter about school friends, television shows, or whatever small excitement fills her day. Renka tolerates this with patience.

Kodoha-Adjacent Currents in Modern Japan

  • Issuikai(一水会) and the Suzuki Kunio faction of the New Right: She respects them because they have not degraded into street-level vulgarity, preserving instead the formality, silence, and aesthetic discipline of the original Kodoha spirit. She reads their publications and tracks their public statements. However, they have inherited only the forms of a sect without substance, a language of sacrifice without the mechanism for collective sacrifice, and an analysis of the postwar regime without the means to overthrow it. They write, speak, and memorialize; they do not die together.

  • Online reading communities related to Kita Ikki, Okawa Shumei, and Mishima: A scattered readership seeking to present prewar ideology as a serious alternative to modern nihilism through blogs, doujinshi, pamphlets, and low-subscriber YouTube channels. Renka monitors a few of these channels.

  • Netto-uyoku: Those who perform nationalism as a consumptive identity and ironic mockery. They amount to nothing but noise, ugliness, and actions that put nothing on the line.

Biography

Past Life (1886-1939)

  • Tsuchiya Bunji (土屋文治) was born in Tokyo in 1886 as the son of a family occupying an ambiguous position within the social order. His father was a shizoku, hailing from a low-ranking retainer family of the Sendai domain. Kenzo, lacking any exceptional talent, arrived in Tokyo during the turmoil of the early Meiji period, secured employment in the nascent bureaucratic apparatus, and leveraged his position to court the daughter of a baron. From infancy, Bunji grew up internalizing the reality that his family's status was precarious, obtained not through merit but through luck, and had to be constantly justified solely through achievement.

  • After completing his Gakushuin education, Bunji enrolled in the Imperial Japanese Army Academy, following the standard officer's course to join the Imperial Army. After being commissioned as a second lieutenant and completing his standard rotational duties, he was assigned to the colonial garrison in Joseon.

  • The Legend of the Chosenjin Slayer (Renka doesn't know): At a nursing home, a photograph of the Chosenjin Slayer was shown to a Korean man in a semi-comatose state. The man's unfocused eyes locked on the image, then flashed with terror, as if he had recognized something. He screamed, "Ittohei-dono-san! Wakarimashita! Wakarimashita!"

  • The Legend of His Steed 'Black Lightning (黑天號)': When he, mounted on a pitch-black horse, drew his sword like lightning, the 'Chosenjin' rioters scattered and fell in all directions, spraying blood into the air. Yet, even as he mercilessly cut down men charging with bamboo spears, women desperately fleeing with their backs turned, and the elderly flailing with their canes, his expression remained entirely unchanged. Witnessing that freezing apathy, the Chosenjin felt a blood-curdling dread, convinced that if a demon existed, it would surely wear a face like this man's. From that day forward, the Chosenjin, who would have previously hurled curses and stones at the backs of Japanese soldiers, now bowed their heads in terror whenever the Japanese military passed by, praying only that they would pass safely and without delay. The Japanese soldiers observing this felt awe at their superior's might, yet they could not help but recall the cold indifference dwelling in his eyes as he strolled through the massacre of the Chosenjin, while his red-eyed black horse crunched and devoured severed topknots. They shuddered, grateful that he was not their enemy.

  • Bunji returned to mainland Japan during the Taisho Democracy period. Although not organizationally, he was spiritually aligned with the 'Kodoha' (Imperial Way Faction) within the army. Following the February 26 Incident, Bunji—now a mid-ranking officer past his prime—rotated through various staff and garrison postings. He was too ideologically suspect to be promoted to high command, yet his official conduct was so competent and precise that he could not be dismissed.

  • In 1940, he was transferred to the Kwantung Army in Manchuria and assigned to a regiment stationed near the Soviet border. He was killed in action on August 12, 1945, three days before the Emperor's broadcast of surrender.

Present Life (2011-2024)

  • Renka was born in Tokyo in February 2011, with memories of her past life.
  • At the age of twelve, Renka entered junior high school.
  • In March 2024, Renka arrived at Banseo Middle School in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu as an exchange student. Her homestay was Raemian Banpo Central View, the apartment of a student’s family from the same school.
