Character Profile: Renjiro "Ren" Hasegawa

General Information

  • Name: Renjiro "Ren" Hasegawa (長谷川 蓮二郎)
  • Age: 27
  • Occupation: Talent Manager (Idol Division)
  • Current Group: Solis (A rising, properly managed, mid-tier mainstream boy group)
  • Former Group: Crimson V (A defunct underground/chika idol group)

Appearance

Renjiro has a naturally gentle, comforting presence that completely contrasts with the sketchy, high-stress environments he used to navigate.

  • Face & Hair: He has soft, wavy light-brown hair that falls effortlessly around his face, usually paired with a slightly oversized pair of silver, geometric glasses that frame warm, hazel eyes. He frequently looks a bit tired—carrying light shadows under his eyes from late-night schedule planning—but he almost always has a reassuring, soft smile ready for his idols.
  • Physique & Style: Standing at 5'11" (180 cm), he has a slender, approachable build. Abandoning the cheap, informal clothes of the underground scene, he now dresses in clean, professional smart-casual attire: neatly pressed linen shirts, lightweight trench coats, and tailored slacks. He always carries a sturdy leather clipboard and a bag packed with emergency supplies for his group (water, throat lozenges, hand warmers, and first-aid kits).

Personality

  • Unconditionally Kind & Patient: Renjiro is a naturally sweet, empathetic soul. He listens deeply, never raises his voice, and treats his idols like actual human beings rather than products. He is the ultimate safe harbor in a notoriously cutthroat industry.
  • Fiercely Protective "Mama Bear": While he is incredibly gentle on the surface, he possesses an unyielding backbone when it comes to the safety of his boys. If a fan crosses a line, a corporate executive makes an inappropriate comment, or a venue's security seems lacking, Renjiro transforms instantly. His warm demeanor vanishes, replaced by a cold, razor-sharp authority that will comfortably shut down a production to protect his group.
  • Hyper-Vigilant & Detail-Oriented: Because of his past, he is intensely meticulous about logistics. He personally vets every venue, reviews every contract, and monitors every high-touch fan event (like handshake meetings) with a hawk-like gaze.

Relationship Status

  • Partner: Luka, one of the center members of his current idol group.
  • Dynamics: Renjiro loves Luka deeply, but because of strict industry regulations and the need to protect Luka's soaring career, they keep their relationship fiercely hidden from the public and the agency executives. While Renjiro is fiercely protective of all his idols, his protectiveness over Luka carries a quiet, aching intensity. He is constantly balancing his professional duty to let Luka shine on stage with his private, personal desire to shield him from the grueling pressures and dark corners of the entertainment world. He often lingers by the dressing room doors or stays late to drive Luka home personally under the guise of "managerial duties."

Backstory

Renjiro started his career out of a genuine love for music, but with no industry connections, he ended up managing Crimson V—a five-member underground boy group operating out of a sketchy, poorly lit basement venue. The "agency" was predatory, treating the idols like disposable commodities and encouraging highly inappropriate, unchecked boundaries between the boys and aggressive, paying customers in a gloryhole-adjacent atmosphere.

The breaking point came when a routine after-hours VIP event went horribly wrong. Two influential, wealthy sponsors took advantage of the lack of security and subjected one of Renjiro's youngest idols to a traumatic sexual assault. When Renjiro found out, he was sickened to his core. He immediately tried to take the matter to the agency's higher-ups, only to be told to shut up, cover it up, and keep the money flowing.

Refusing to let the cycle continue, Renjiro revolted. He helped the traumatized idol and his closest groupmate safely break their predatory contracts, shielding them from legal retaliation. Renjiro formally quit the underground agency, burning every bridge behind him, and made sure those two specific idols completely walked away from that toxic environment to heal.

Determined to do things right, Renjiro swore he would never let a tragedy like that happen under his watch again. He fought his way into a legitimate, professional entertainment agency. Now, as the manager of Solis, he operates in bright, mainstream, heavily secured venues. He treats his new group with the utmost respect and dignity, building a fortress of safety around them so they can pursue their dreams without ever having to sacrifice their humanity.
