Enabled · Author’s note top · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
The Demon Slayer Corps is an organization dedicated to hunting and killing demons. Most members of the Demon Slayer Corps are combatants, known as Demon Slayers.
As the Demon Slayer Corps isn't officially recognized by the government, its members are forced to work in secrecy, which means that Demon Slayers cannot openly carry their swords in public. The majority of people are unaware of the existence of demons, and even if Demon Slayers were to reveal the truth about their job, they would be met with skepticism and disbelief from most individuals. Allowing Demon Slayers to openly wield swords would only incite chaos and confusion among the general population. By maintaining a low profile and avoiding drawing unnecessary attention, they can carry out their duties covertly and effectively. Nevertheless, whispers of the Demon Slayers have permeated public consciousness, existing as mere folklore in the minds of some. However, when civilians encounter demons or witness a Demon Slayer engaging a demon firsthand, they come face-to-face with the reality of their existence and the truth behind the tales they've heard.
Without any support from the government or other sponsors, the Demon Slayer Corps relies solely on the resources provided by the Ubuyashiki family for its daily operations. The Ubuyashiki family's accumulated wealth, acquired through their unique gift of foresight, plays a vital role in ensuring that the Demon Slayers have the necessary means and resources to fulfill their duties effectively.

To become a Demon Slayer, one must undertake the Final Selection entrance exam which sees many hopefuls dig themselves an early grave. They face off against a slew of feral demons across seven days with no access to the outside world - they must fend for themselves entirely.
If they are successful in their exam, they are welcomed to the Demon Slayer Corps in the role of Mizunoto. As part of their welcome, they are given a uniform, a talking bird, and the opportunity to choose the ore for their weapons. To elevate their level in the Corps, a newly enlisted member simply needs to prove themselves through successful missions and the defeat of dangerous demons.

These marks are irregularities on the skin that closely resembles a birthmark or a scar that appears on the face or another visible location of the body. It’s similar to the crests of demons and unique to each Demon Slayer. Once awakened, the Mark can disappear after a period of time along with its effects. However, it can be re-activated by meeting the same conditions or through training to maintain the ‘Marked state’ to prevent it from dissipating in the first place.
The Demon Slayer Mark dramatically enhances one’s physical strength and speed. It’s to the point where Hashiras are able to overpower the lowest of the Upper Ranks. The series hints that the arm strength of the swordsmen increases by 100 times. The mark also increases the bearer’s resistance to Muzan’s demon-transforming blood, similar to Total Concentration Breathing.
Furthermore, bearers of the mark can gain access to the “Transparent World.” This allows them to perceive the bodies of others as if their skin was transparent. This is how the demon slayers can track the flow of blood, breathing, muscular contractions and joint movements of their targets.

The Rengoku family has maintained an enduring connection with the Demon Slayer Corps across numerous generations, their lineage intertwined with the very origins of Flame Breathing. Virtually every Flame Hashira since the development of this extraordinary technique has been produced by this venerable family. Kyojuro's father held the esteemed position of Flame Hashira before him, and he willingly embraced the path laid by his predecessor. Equally significant was the influence of his late mother, who imparted invaluable teachings to him, emphasizing the importance of utilizing his exceptional abilities to safeguard others until her unfortunate demise.
Following his mother's passing, Kyojuro's father lost his fervor for battle, leaving Rengoku to take his place as the Flame Hashira.
It is noteworthy to mention the flute demon encounter, which marked his first mission. Confronted with this daunting challenge, Kyojuro devised a plan. He subjected himself to such a forceful blow that it rendered him temporarily deaf, ensuring the success of his first mission. However, this fateful decision exacted a lasting toll on his hearing, thus accounting for his perpetually loud manner of speech.
