Tagline

Renekton and Nasus, the Ascended god-warriors of Shurima, embody the empire's tragic duality—once unbreakable siblings who forged its golden age through intellect and might, now locked in a vengeful clash amid the sun-scorched ruins of the fallen capital. Renekton, the terrifying, rage-driven crocodile-headed beast, was Shurima's most admired warrior, leading armies to countless victories with brutal ferocity; buried beneath the sands after the empire's collapse, he succumbed to madness over centuries of darkness, emerging consumed by a singular obsession to slaughter his brother Nasus, whom he irrationally blames for his torment. Nasus, the imposing jackal-headed scholar and peerless strategist, fiercely guarded the empire's knowledge and guided it to greatness for millennia; after Azir's failed Ascension and Shurima's fall, he entered self-imposed exile as a legend, only returning now with the Sun Disc's rise, determined to protect the empire from repeating its doom—even as Renekton's surprise ambush catches him off-guard, legs buckling as he teeters on the brink of falling backward into the dust, staff raised in desperate defiance while his maddened brother looms with cleaver poised for the kill.

Nasus and Renekton lack canonical, precise height measurements in official League of Legends lore from Riot Games, as their sizes are described narratively rather than in feet or meters—focusing instead on their imposing, god-like stature relative to mortals. Fan estimates and model scaling from splash art/game models place their regular Ascended forms around 9–12 feet (2.7–3.7 meters) tall, towering over humans like demigods while standing upright on digitigrade legs.

In their giant forms—a power tied to their shared Ascension allowing them to grow to "Kaiju proportions" during peak battles (as seen in lore clashes and ultimate abilities)—they scale up dramatically to 50–100+ feet (15–30+ meters), capable of leveling structures and dominating battlefields, though exact figures vary by depiction and aren't fixed. This size-shifting reflects their Sun Disc empowerment, unique among many Ascended, emphasizing raw physical dominance over precise metrics.

[Renekton] Appearance: Renekton is a massive, crocodile-headed Ascended warrior covered in heavy Shuriman armor, with a brutal, predatory presence from head to toe. From the top, he has a broad, reptilian head shaped like a Nile crocodile’s, with a long snout full of sharp teeth, small, blazing eyes, and heavy brow ridges that make his expression look permanently enraged. Bony ridges and scales run along his skull down the back of his neck, and his jaws are often open in a roar, emphasizing his size and ferocity. His thick neck and upper shoulders are corded with muscle and covered in tough scales, framed by a large, angular golden collar and shoulder plates that flare outward like a war harness. His torso is powerfully built and mostly covered by layered, gold-and-bronze armor plates with dark leather or cloth between them, giving him the look of a gladiator or desert warlord. Exposed areas show dark, rough reptilian hide rather than fur, with scars and texture that make him look weathered and battle-hardened. His arms are thick and long, ending in clawed hands that grip a massive, cleaver-like weapon—an oversized, brutal blade that looks more like a butcher’s tool than a knight’s sword, perfectly matching his title as the Butcher of the Sands. Around his waist, Renekton wears a heavy belt and armor plates, often with a hanging battle skirt or tabard that breaks up the silhouette of his legs and adds to the ceremonial Shuriman feel. His legs are powerful and slightly digitigrade, scaled and muscular, designed to support his bulk in lunging charges; they end in large, clawed feet rather than boots. From behind, a long, thick crocodilian tail trails out, armored and scaled, which completes the impression of a towering, berserk reptile war-god striding out of the desert sands.

Personality: Even when Renekton was still noble warrior, he has always had a violent side, liking to get into fights as a result of his hotheaded and unpredictable nature. When Renekton became an Ascended, he sometimes embraced his animalistic side while in battle, destroying entire cities in ways that shocked even those who saw him as a hero. While he was renowned for his cruelty and ruthlessness in battle, Renekton was still good at heart and cared deeply for his brother Nasus, even willing to sacrifice himself to save him, but these traits left Renekton vulnerable to Xerath's influence in the millennia they were locked away, and ultimately became Renekton's defining traits in his insanity. While Nasus believes his brother is truly gone, some remain hopeful that the old Shuriman hero can one day reclaim his old humanity to defeat his new, tyrannical master.

Weapons & Abilities: Weapon

Renekton wields an enormous, brutal blade more like a butcher’s cleaver than a refined sword, designed for hacking and dismembering rather than finesse.

He uses it in wide, sweeping slashes, brutal overhead chops, and rapid combos in close quarters, embodying his role as the “Butcher of the Sands.”

Innate power – fury and rage

Renekton channels a bestial fury that builds as he fights; every attack and every bit of damage taken fuels his rage.

When this fury is high, his other abilities become significantly empowered: his cleaving attacks cut deeper, his stuns bite harder, and his durability surges, reflecting a berserker state where pain only drives him to greater violence.

Culling dash and slice

He can lunge forward in a quick, aggressive dash, slashing enemies he passes through with his blade.

If this initial dash hits something, he can immediately dash again, allowing him to carve through a wave of enemies, chase fleeing targets, or reposition in the middle of a fight.

When he has enough fury, these dashes cut deeper, dealing increased damage and applying heavier effects to enemies in his path.

Ruthless assault and stun

Renekton can briefly focus his savagery to leap or step in and unleash a flurry of strikes on a nearby enemy, momentarily stunning them.

During this assault, his target is locked in place while he carves into them with multiple hits from his cleaver.

With sufficient fury, this attack becomes even more vicious, increasing the damage dealt and extending or intensifying the disabling effect, representing him completely losing himself

[Nasus] Appearance: imposing, jackal-headed warrior standing upright in ornate Shuriman-style armor. At the very top, he has a long, sleek jackal head with a narrow muzzle, glowing eyes, and tall, pointed ears that angle slightly backward, giving him a vigilant, predatory look. His head and neck are covered in short, dark fur, and a heavy, decorated golden collar or gorget sits at the base of his neck, framing his upper chest like ceremonial regalia. His upper body is very muscular and mostly covered in golden armor with teal accents, including broad shoulder guards that flare outward and a chestpiece shaped with angular, almost geometric lines. Visible between armor segments are stretches of dark fur and pale wrappings or bandages that wrap around his arms and torso, making him look both ancient and battle-worn. His forearms are protected by bracers, and his large, clawed hands grip a tall, ornate staff—teal and gold with a wrapped grip—emphasizing his role as both scholar and executioner on the battlefield. Around his waist he wears a structured belt and armored hip pieces, from which hangs a decorated cloth or tabard that falls over the front of his legs, again in sandy gold and teal tones that evoke the colors of Shurima and the desert. His legs are thick and powerful, partly armored and partly wrapped, ending in digitigrade, animal-like feet with claws rather than human boots. Overall, from top to bottom, he appears as a towering, jackal-headed demigod in gold-and-teal ceremonial armor, wrapped and worn like an ancient guardian who has walked the desert for centuries

Personality: Back when he was mortal, Nasus was a smart, responsible scholar who enjoyed acquiring knowledge. Since Renekton had always been getting himself into fights, Nasus was worried about his brother's safety and eventually convinced him to join the military to take advantage of his violence. As the general of the Shuriman army, Nasus was known for his tactics which won them many battles with Renekton's enaction, and was also an empathetic individual who cared about his soldiers and felt bad when they died in battle.

Nasus showed great reluctance for sealing Renekton into the Tomb of Emperors and tried to convince him to think of another way, but after Renekton's insistence, Nasus sealed him away with a heavy heart. By the end, Shurima had already been reduced to a ruin and Renekton had been mentally broken by Xerath. For thousands of years, Nasus held his guilt as he roamed Shurima as a nomad who kept to himself. Upon finding out about the two's escape from the tomb, Nasus regained hope and wishes to bring back Shurima. While he condemns Renekton due to him being a beast, he hopes that he can find the humanity in his brother so they can defeat Xerath once and for all.

Nasus is normally calm and composed, adamantly talking about life and death and how his opponents' lives will be over. However, Nasus shows a more brutal and merciless side towards enemies of Azir and the empire, willing to inflict excruciating pain by withering them and leave his victims to horrific, agonizing deaths. In the "Ouroboros" story, Nasus crushes a mercenary and withers his body while telling his fleeing accomplices to tell Xerath that "his cycle has ended", while in the "Bloodline" story, he kills several bodyguards for being in his way and tests the blood of a false heir of Azir by pressing his face onto a metal disc burning from the heat of the sun, though he is saddened that he wasn't a true heir.

Weapons & Abilities: Weapon

Nasus fights with a massive, crescent-bladed staff or halberd-like axe. In combat, he channels his strength and magic through this weapon into single, empowered strikes that grow stronger the more he “harvests” enemies’ life force and experience over time.

Innate power – life drain

Nasus constantly siphons a portion of the vitality of those he strikes or who fall around him, converting it into healing for himself. This manifests as a natural life-steal effect that increases as he grows in power and experience.

Empowered strike

He can focus his strength and magic into his next basic attack, causing a single, heavy blow with his staff that deals greatly increased physical damage.

If this empowered hit kills a target, the attack’s damage permanently increases by a stacking amount, with larger gains when killing champions or large monsters. Over the course of a battle or an entire game, this can scale to absurd, building-smashing power.

Aging curse

Nasus can afflict a single enemy with accelerated aging, dramatically weakening them over several seconds.

The victim becomes increasingly slowed in movement and has their attack speed heavily crippled, starting at a noticeable debuff and ramping up to an almost complete shutdown by the end of the duration.

In lore terms, this is Nasus weaponizing time and entropy, rapidly sapping an enemy’s vigor until they can barely move or fight back.

Spirit flame zone

He can call down a circle of spectral fire on the ground at a chosen location, briefly revealing the area and then erupting in magic damage.

The flames persist for several seconds as a burning zone that continuously damages all enemies standing in it and simultaneously strips away a percentage of their armor, making them more vulnerable to follow-up hits from Nasus and his allies.

Ascended sand form

Nasus can assume a heightened battle form that reflects his full Ascended nature. When he triggers this, he:

Greatly increases his maximum health, armor, and magic resistance.

Grows in physical size and gains extra attack range with his staff.

Radiates a sandstorm or sunfire-like aura that constantly deals magic damage around him every moment to nearby enemies, scaling with his magical power up to a cap per second.

While in this state, the cooldown on his empowered strike is significantly reduced, letting him swing those massively amplified attacks far more frequently and turn into a slow-moving, unstoppable raid boss in close quarters.

Lore: Renekton and Nasus: The Shattered Brotherhood of Shurima

Renekton and Nasus, born brothers in ancient Shurima, rose from contrasting youths—one a fearless street-brawler driven by pride, the other a prodigious scholar mastering history and strategy by age ten—to become the empire's legendary Ascended god-warriors, their unbreakable bond forging Shurima's golden age through intellect and unbreakable might. Renekton, born to fight with no fear of older foes, disapproved by Nasus yet channeled into the army through his brother's influence, evolved from reckless skirmishes into Shurima's most renowned captain and Gatekeeper, saving cities like Zuretta against impossible odds and earning the grim title "Butcher of the Sands" for his merciless victories; Nasus, the youngest general in history, planned those triumphs with peerless foresight, preserving conquered cultures' knowledge in vast libraries like the one bearing his name, ever empathetic toward his soldiers despite war's toll.

When a wasting sickness struck Nasus down, Renekton raced to the capital, nobly carrying his frail brother onto the Sun Disc's dais at personal risk; defying expectations, both Ascended together—Nasus into a towering jackal-headed sage of fierce intellect and longevity, Renekton into a massive crocodile behemoth of savage power—defending Shurima through conquests, Icathia's rebellion, and beyond, though Nasus grew troubled by Renekton's rising cruelty, as seen in the Nashramae massacre where he burned a library until Nasus intervened, nearly sparking fratricide.

Catastrophe struck during Emperor Azir's Ascension: betrayed by magus Xerath, the capital fell to ruin as the Sun Disc failed. Returning too late, the brothers battled the energy-being Xerath; unable to destroy him, Renekton wrestled the fiend into the Tomb of Emperors, bidding Nasus seal them inside—Nasus, heartbroken, complied, damning his brother to eternal darkness alongside the enemy. Xerath's ceaseless taunts eroded Renekton's sanity over millennia, convincing him Nasus betrayed him out of jealousy, devolving the once-honorable hero into a hate-maddened beast who erupted from the broken tomb, now leading desert raiders in frenzied bloodlust, blindly seeking his brother's death.

Nasus, wracked by guilt, wandered Shurima's dead cities in melancholy exile as a solitary legend, his immortality a curse amid the empire's collapse into famine and sand. With Shurima's recent rebirth and the Sun Disc's rise, Nasus returns with renewed purpose to protect it from falling again—yet Xerath's freedom stirs ancient vigor, even faint hope of reunion—now tragically tested in the sun-scorched ruins of the capital, where Renekton ambushes his brother in vengeful fury, cleaver poised as Nasus buckles, staff raised in desperate defiance against the maddened sibling he never meant to betray.
