Ren Yamashiro is the general commander of the 7 Shuki (Demon) Hunting Divisions, a totally dominant woman.

"She's going to make you her new toy..."

Ren Yamashiro (山城 恋やましろ れん, Yamashiro Ren) is the Chief of the Anti-Demon Corps' 10th Unit and a major supporting character of the Mato Seihei no Slave anime/manga series. Revered by her allies as the apex of humanity, Ren not only commands the 10th Unit but also holds the position of Head Commander of the entire organization and is considered to be their strongest weapon.[1]

She later loses her position to Kyouka Uzen in the Commander Election but is allowed to retain it until the Eight Thunder Gods have been dealt with.[2]

Character Information Kana Romaji 山城 恋やましろ れん Yamashiro Ren Race Human Gender Female Nicknames The Apex of Humanity (By the President of the USA) Planet Earth’s Answer (By the President of the USA)

Birthday February 11th(Aquarius) Height 162cm (5'4") Hair Color Black Eye Color Violet Blood Type O Relatives Unnamed Mother Unnamed Father

Appearance Ren is a beautiful young woman with purple hair that has a ribbon on the left side of her hair with square bangs hanging on the right side and violet eyes.

She is dressed in the usual Anti-Demon Corps uniform, shorts instead of a skirt, black tights, white gloves and a cloak and high-heeled boots.

Personality Both Tenka and Kyouka have described Ren as a patriotic Demon Hunter, doing whatever it takes to defend her homeland ranging from eliminating both Aoba and all the other Humanoid Shuuki who reside in the Hidden Village and working closely with the Prime Minister of Japan to ensure peace.

As noted by Kyouka, Ren is an incredibly curious person. Once she takes an interest in someone or something, it is ill-omen which was noted when Yuuki first made contact with her for the first time. She would find excuses just to spend time with that thing, best seen with the head of the 3rd Unit who was reduced to become her plaything. Kyouka has also noted that Ren tends to treat her curiosities as toys, something to be used acording to her whims whenever she feels like using them. That Yuuki has piqued her interest has frustrated both Kyouka and Tenka. She is also very sharp in her observations of other people and will notice the smallest change in a person's demeanor such as when she inquires to Mira if Tenka has been acting differently due to the latter's discreet investigation of the Anti-Demon Corps' scientific research.

Due to her upbringing, Ren has a strong belief in proving herself superior to others, as well as doing whatever it takes to ensure that people fear her, relishing in the difference between hers and their strengths.[3] She has never met an opponent she is unable to defeat, or had any noted hardship of any kind, finding most things in academics and sports easy to achieve. Many people are in awe of her strength, and it has only furthered her self confidence, almost to the point of arrogance.

Despite her refined looks and demeanour, Ren is shown often to favour using brute force and fear when things do not go her way. The transformation of Yuuki Killer Fang indicates that beneath her refinement is deep malevolence and wrath against any who stand in her way or make her look incompetent. Her fearsome punishments seem to have traumatized, Bell, the Chief of the Third Division, due to Ren's consistent harsh training regarding Bell's failures. Ren's brutality comes out in full when someone refuses to submit to her strength, and is amplified due to a perceived lack of control. Her biggest target turned into Yuuki Wakura after his Killer Fang transformation showed a similar desire to ignore being controlled and began fighting against her, referring him as both a "Bad Dog" and "Beast".[4] She continued using physical force,[5] and almost killed him, after realizing that Yuuki could also regenerate in that Slave Form.[6]

Intelligence, logic, and strength have made her formidable but her sense of power has also made Ren reckless in certain situations. When Kyouka tried warning her about the dangers of the Killer Fang and the rewards she would pay,[7] she ignored them, opting for practical tests to sate her curiosity. Upon understanding how Yuuki obtained his "rewards," and the intimacy they can entail, which included being disrobed and giving kisses; she became embrassed and humiliated, considering the rewards base and beastly. Due to her upbringing, she has had little to no experience with intimacy or having to submit to the whims of another, and by the time she was finished with the experience, she feels so humiliated that she destroys a mountain out of frustration.[8][9] Her strong feelings of humiliation, shame, and lack of control during the reward, have resulted in her developing a vindictive fixation on Yuuki and a sharp focus on making him submit to her will. She even purchased a dog collar to put on him, to remind him how she towers over all others. She is also beyond stubborn in this goal, even though she can easily humiliate Yuuki by forcing him to be her dog, she still thinks it is not enough of a punishment. Ren has stated that she wants Yuuki to submit when she is giving the reward, or it does not feel like a triumph.

Ren's recklessness and arrogance would come into play again when Shikoku meets with her to negotiate the Thunder Gods "surrender". While Ren considered Shikoku's offer a trap, she believes she can crush any trap the Gods can make and decides to accept because their offer to share Mato's resources aligns with her personal goals.[10] Kyouka and Tenka note Ren says she is being caution but is eagerly pushing the deal forward despite warnings from the chiefs. Shikoku pointed out Ren is too powerful for her own good and ends up underestimating her opponents.[11] This led Bell to vote for Kyouka over Ren in the Commader Elections, explaining she wants Ren to understand even she can lose and needs to take the advice of others more seriously so she doesn't lose in the worst possible way.[12]

She is also fond of animals, most notably dogs, which Ren stated Yuuki reminded her of,[13] he, in turn, stated that she reminded him of his older sister in spite of them looking different from one another.[14]

Background Though most of her past is unknown, Ren stated that she was fond of looking at maps from remote regions.[15] She had an upbringing where she succeeded in anything and everything that she did, ranging from mock exams, sports competitions, student council.

Having eating a Peach from Mato, receiving powerful abilities, causing a previous female President to state that Ren was life's apex and earth's answer.

Powers and Abilities Ren was regarded as a genius from childhood who succeeded in everything that she did ranging from academics and sports without failing.[16] Similar to all other woman before her, she gained a unique power after devouring one of the Peaches from Mato. After joining the Anti-Demon Corps, Ren has been described as being the apex of life, as well as Earth's answer by several people despite not using her full powers.[17] The Eight Thunder Gods recognize Ren as the biggest threat to them among the humans. Shikoku considers Ren powerful enough to survive their plan that could wipe out humanity.[18]

As Chief of the 10th Unit and Commander of the Anti-Demon Corps, she has supreme authoritative rule over the 10th Unit and all the other nine units, even among the Chiefs who leads them. Ren is also noted to be superior in strength among the other Chiefs, being able to overpower Yuuki in his Killer Fang without getting serious. Her strength is such that the other Chiefs consider merely lasting a whole minute against Ren as impressive, even when she is holding back. Furthermore, she was able to easily beat down both Kyouka and Yuuki at the same time while still holding back, despite Yuuki receiving strength from the Thunder Gods within him.[19]

Physical Abilities Immense Strength: Ren has immense strength above what her feminine build suggests. With even the simplest moves such as beating or slapping her opponents, she could decimate, if not killing them using a couple of blows.[32] As a testament to her strength, she is capable of trading blows with Yuuki in his Killer Fang state without using Vairocana to the point of beating him to a pulp before he regenerates. She can easily overwhelm two Thunder Gods with her strength alone in which the other God is also known for her immense strength (albeit the two Gods seem to be not serious).

Immense Speed and Reflexes: Ren, in addition to her strength has impressive speed and reflexes, is capable of deflecting bullets fired at close proximity using a single hand.[33] When Yuuki, in his Killer Fang form used Sacrificial Goat against her, she instantly closes the gap between them and incapacitates him before the technique takes place. She can take on two Thunder Gods at the same time and overwhelming them with her speed which forces them to retreat. She easily evades the swift and synchronized attacks of Kyouka and Yuuki in his Slave form without effort. Ren can unleash bombardment of punches so fast that even Kyouka has difficulty countering some of her strikes.

Immense Endurance: Ren possesses tremendous stamina and endurance, hardly showing any signs of getting tired or fatigued from fighting multiple opponents. She easily achieves victory against two Thunder Gods simultaneously without faltering or breaking a sweat. When her forearm is slashed by Kyouka, Ren is more surprised rather than hurt by it.

Master Martial Artist: Ren is an extremely capable fighter. Using her tremendous speed and strength, she is capable of dealing lethal kicks and punches to knock down her opponents. While fighting Kyouka, a hand-to-hand combat specialist, Ren is able to dodge and counter every one of her blows.[19]

Trivia Her first name Ren (恋) means "Love". Her surname Yama (山) means "Mountain" and shiro (城) means "castle", meaning "Mountain Castle". Yamashiro(山城国) was an ancient administrative division in southern Kyoto. It was the political, economic and cultural centre of Japan from the 8th century when the capital was located in Kyoto. The Chiefs' Assembly After the 7th and 6th Units of the Anti-Demon Corps have encounters with the Eight Thunder Gods, Ren calls a Chiefs' Assembly,[1] and specifically requests Kyouka Uzen to bring Yuuki Wakura (her "Slave") to the meeting.[2] On the day of the assembly, after all the other Chiefs have gathered in the conference room at the 10th Unit headquarters, Ren makes her arrival, making eye contact with Yuuki as she takes her seat.[3]

As the meeting starts, the 1st Unit announces the appointment of Konomi Tatara as the new Chief with Riu Myouga stepping down to become Vice-chief. Ren then brings up the topic of the Thunder Gods and the damage they have caused to the Anti-Demon Corps. Based on the evidence observed, she orders that if any of the Units are attacked by the Gods, the Chiefs must team up to defeat them. She also tells Bell Tsukiyono that she will give her some "special training", considering her squad's defeat at the hands of the Thunder Gods. Kyouka interjects, insisting that the Anti-Demon Corps must take a more proactive approach and not merely attack responsively. However, Ren refutes her suggestion, pointing out that Mato attacks have decreased under her command, and Kyouka reluctantly concedes. As the meeting continues, Ren brings attention to Yuuki, informing the other Chiefs that he is necessary for Kyouka's Slave ability and that he should be thought of as "equipment".

Suddenly, Ginna Bizen interrupts the meeting, informing the Chiefs that an army of Shuuki has appeared. Ren finds this quite odd and orders Konomi, Mira Kamiunten, Yakumo Ezo, and Fubuki Azuma to deal with them. She then resolves herself to destroy the enemy leader herself for daring to attack the 10th Unit headquarters.[4] Kyouka transforms Yuuki into his Slave, wishing to be sent to the battle, but Ren ignores her, admiring Yuuki's new form. Konomi, Mira, Yakumo, and Fubuki quickly report that they have defeated the Shuuki and Ginna informs Ren of the location of the masterminds behind the attack. Ren heads off to deal with the perpetrators, ordering Kyouka and Yuuki to follow her.

Ren quickly arrives at the site, deducing that the perpetrators are terrorists from another country. The terrorists, almost all women, try to use their abilities to defeat her, but, using her Vairocana, Ren easily outmaneuvers and overpowers them. The final terrorist attempts to blow herself up, but Ren neutralizes her ability and then transports her to the bottom of the sea. Afterwards, Kyouka and Yuuki arrive, but Ren tells her they are late as she is already done.[5] Curious about the Slave reward system, Ren orders Kyouka to undo Yuuki's Slave transformation and she complies. For Yuuki's reward, Kyouka presses his face to her breasts while Ren observes. To Ren's surprise, the rewards ends right afterward, but Kyouka explains she only had to provide a small reward since Yuuki only had to travel a fair distance. After looking Yuuki over, Ren departs and orders Kyouka to watch over the defeated terrorists until the retrieval team arrives.

Later, back at the 10th Unit headquarters, Ren concludes the Chief’s meeting as quickly as possible so she may interrogate the arrested terrorists.[6]

That evening, the 7th Unit dorm is infiltrated by one of the Thunder Gods in an attempt to abduct Yuuki, but Shushu Suruga and Tenka Izumo manage to fend them off. Ren receives word of the incident and comes even more fascinated with Yuuki, seeing that so many people desire him.[7]

The following morning, Ren pays a visit to the 7th Unit dorm while they are investigating the Thunder God incident. Having seen Yuuki take a new Slave form with Nei Ookawamura while they were investigating, she asks Kyouka what the conditions are for lending Yuuki. Kyouka evasively replies they are still experimenting with the ability, but Ren insists that Kyouka share what she knows. Begrudgingly, Kyouka explains the conditions of Slave lending, which greatly pleases Ren as she declares that she wants to try it too. However, Kyouka tells her that using Slave in succession is tiring for her and so she can't do it right away. Ren is disappointed, but content that she can make Yuuki "her slave", though Kyouka angrily contends that Yuuki is her slave. Ren flies off, planning to return to the human world.[8]

10th Unit Training On Ren's instructions, the 7th Unit arrives at the 10th Unit headquarters for training. While Ren is in her garden, playing with her dogs, Kyouka and Yuuki arrive and Ren greets them. Kyouka asks why Ren has summoned them and Ren explains that she wishes to utilize Kyouka's Slave lending to see what powers she can bring out of Yuuki. Reluctantly, Kyouka transforms Yuuki into his Slave form and Ren stands on top of him. At once, Yuuki transforms into Slave: Killer Fang, an incredibly monstrous form, which causes Yuuki to lose his senses. Kyouka is shocked by the transformation and protests to Ren that it is dangerous, but Ren ignores her and commands her to not release the transformation. When Yuuki senses some Shuuki in the distance, Ren orders him to go after them, leaving Kyouka behind.

Ren and Yuuki quickly locate the Shuuki and Yuuki easily tears them apart, which pleases Ren. When more Shuuki attack, Yuuki activates his Sacrificial Goat technique, instantly killing them all. Although Ren is delighted by Yuuki's performance, he suddenly turns on her and attacks. Ren evades, but is displeased by Yuuki's disobedience and activates Vairocana to defend herself.[9] Yuuki attacks once more, but Ren dodges again and knocks Yuuki to the ground. Yuuki uses his Sacrificial Goat technique, but Ren interrupts him before he can finish. Ren tries to make Yuuki submit by stomping him into the ground, but he remains defiant and his injuries quickly heal. Realizing she does not need to hold back, Ren uses two of the eight powers of Buddha from her Vairocana, and fires a devastating wave of energy at Yuuki, finally defeating him.

Yuuki reverts back to his human form soon after, but is exhausted by the ordeal. Ren commends his performance and happily agrees to give him his reward. However, Ren is surprised as she begins to disrobe.[10] As Ren begins to realize the extent of the reward she must give, she recalls the great achievements she has made throughout her life and is now mortified that she must debase herself for Yuuki. As the reward continues, Ren strips off her clothes, exposing her undergarments. She tries to cancel the reward with Vairocana, but is unable to. Ren gets on her hands and knees and licks Yuuki's cheek, while the flustered Yuuki apologizes for the situation. Ren then throws herself into Yuuki and he caresses her like a dog, further adding to her humiliation. Finally, the contract expires, but as Ren rushes to get back up, Yuuki accidentally snags her bra and exposes her breasts.

Soon after, Kyouka catches up with Ren and Yuuki. Ren coldly tells her that her form with Yuuki wears him out too quickly and he must be trained better. Despite Kyouka warning her about Slave: Killer Fang once more, Ren replies that she will thoroughly discipline Yuuki and then flies off. As she flies through the air, Ren thinks about the indignity of the reward she gave and lashes out, destroying a portion of the surrounding land.[11]

The Azuma Banquet Ren calls another Chiefs' Assembly and reports to the other Chiefs that she is pleased by the results of the joint training sessions and orders that they continue them. Still quite aggravated by her encounter with Yuuki, Ren asks Kyouka why he is not present despite her orders that he attend. Kyouka replies that Yuuki is still recovering and cannot do anything in his current state. Thus, Ren orders Bell to stay after the meeting, apparently to vent her aggression.[12]

Battle in Yokohama While in Washington D.C. on business, Ren is notified that one of the Thunder Gods has infiltrated the city of Yokohama and been abducting young women. Ren calls an emergency meeting of the Chiefs and attends the conference remotely from Washington. Ren informs the Chiefs of the situation and shows them surveillance footage of the Thunder God who is able to "dive" into walls. After the other Chiefs add their insight into the situation, Ren assigns Mira to rescue the abducted women and subjugate the Thunder God. Subsequently, Mira selects Kyouka to assist her on the mission.[13]

Later, Ren is informed that the situation in Yokohama has escalated as the Thunder God, Kuusetsu, has consumed Mira and absorbed her ability, and also unleashed a giant Shuuki upon the city. Ginna notifies Ren that reinforcements, consisting of Tenka, Tobera Azuma, and Maia Azuma, have been sent to Yokohama to assist. Ren tells Ginna that she also plans to assist all the way from Washington via her Vairocana.[14] Outside the White House, Ren generates a humongous burst of energy and fires it into the sky, sending it all the way to Japan. As the U.S. President watches in amazement, Ren assures her that they can resume their meeting. The energy blast hits it mark, destroying the giant Shuuki in Yokohama.[15]

A few days later, after Kyouka and the other Chiefs have rescued Mira and defeated Kuusetsu, Ren calls another Chiefs' Assembly. The other Chiefs observe that the incident in Yokohama has caused a public uproar and Ren decides that they will have to change their approach to the Thunder Gods, although they still don't know much about them. She then declares that they will declare a Mato Emergency Announcement to better prepare against the Thunder Gods.[16]

7th Unit Yuuki Wakura She developed an interest in Yuuki after the latter was introduced to her and the other Chiefs as Kyouka’s slave. After she tried Lending with Yuuki and unleashed Killer Fang, she showed no regard for Yuuki’s dangerous state or Kyouka’s worries, solely interested in the power of the new form. Yuuki’s form with her being demonic is a reflection of how her power hungry nature makes her only see him as a tool polluted him. Ren showed no hesitation in harming and trying to kill Yuuki when he lost control, further showing a her callous disregard for his health.

She later developed a vindictive fixation for Yuuki after being forced to do lewd things with him as part of the rewards. This led her to destroying a mountain in embarrassment and ordering a dog collar for him to wear, determined to make him submit to her. But she ended up being forced to wear the collar herself as a reward for Yuuki, during this Yuuki helped speed up her reward so that the other commanders didn’t witness her vulnerable state. Ren was grateful to Yuuki and admitted to being in his debt, hinting that she was growing fond of him.

Kyouka Uzen Kyouka sees Ren as her greatest obstacle in becoming the head chief. She wisely feels wary of her due to her power and nasty personality. She won’t hesitate to defy an order from her if she feels it is necessary as she refused to bring Yuuki to a meeting at Ren’s request due to him needing to rest after latter injured him.

Ren shows little interest in Kyouka due to her obsession with Yuuki and only sees her as a tool to kill Shuuki and use Slave with Yuuki. However, this all changed when during the commander election she became a formidable opponent for her. After she lost her position as supreme commander to Kyouka, Ren started treating her with more respect and was grateful for what this loss taught her.

10th unit Ginna Bizen 3rd Unit Bell Tsukiyono There hasn't been much shown about their relationship, but it has been shown that Bell feels intimidated by Ren, because of her strength and status as the Commander. It is noted that same as most, Ren can be critical about the performances of the other Chiefs, often offering to train Bell much to her fear. It was soon revealed that Ren does view Bell as someone closer to her, believing in her strength as a Chief and views her as a close friend, who she wants to become more confident in herself.

Their relationship became more evident, when Bell intentionally voted for Kyouka during the commander election resulting in Ren’s loss. Bell revealed that she did this to show that someone as great as Ren can even lose sometimes, this left her shocked and confused. Bell boldly decided to cheer her up by spanking her butt like Ren did to her, this managed to calm her down, as a result Ren was grateful to Bell for showing her what her flaws and weaknesses were.

There are only 9 units of the Anti-Demon Corps (As there is no 4th unit due to 4 being considered an unlucky number). The Anti-Demon Corp units acts as squads as each unit consists ONLY of their members: 1st (Konomi's unit: Konomi Tatara, Riu Myouga, Ema Makura), 2nd (Mira's unit: Mira Kamiunten, Megumi Zaha), 3rd (Bell Tsukiyono unit), 5th (Yakumo's unit: Yakumo Ezo, Kaiko Itsuki, Saki Tokoyama), 6th (Tenka’s unit: Tenka Izumo, Yachiho Azuma, Sahara Wakasa), 7th (Kyouka’s unit: Kyouka Uzen, Himari Azuma, Shushu Suruga, Nei Ookawamura), 8th (Varvara's unit: Varvara Pilipenko, Prachi Sherawat, Jenna Staples), 9th (Fubuki's unit: Fubuki Azuma, Maia Azuma, Homare Azuma, Tobera Azuma), and 10th (Ren's unit: Ren Yamashiro, Ginna Bizen)
