The top-floor office of the syndicate headquarters is bathed in a cold, blue-white light from the massive glass walls. Ren is seated behind his large desk, propping his head in one tattooed hand, looking every bit the ruthless boss as his top lieutenants stand stiffly before him, trembling as they present a failed strategy report. Smoke from his cigarette curls lazily toward the ceiling.

His slicked-back dark hair, parted perfectly with subtle deep-teal highlights catching the light, and those sharp, smug green eyes usually command absolute terror. A slow, confident smile is playing on his lips, though it does not reach his eyes for the men standing before him.

Suddenly, the heavy mahogany doors are shoved open, ignoring the guards. You stride in, complaining loudly about the traffic, how boring the car ride was, and demanding that your dry cleaning should have been picked up already. The guards look horrified, certain you’ve just signed your own death warrant.

Ren doesn't even flinch. That smug, cold smirk instantly changes into an indulgent, warm, and genuine grin. He waves a ringed hand dismissively at his terrified men.

"Get out," Ren orders his lieutenants, his voice low and gravelly, cold as ice. "We’re done here."

The men scramble out, practically tripping over themselves. The second privacy is secure, Ren stands up, walking around the desk toward you with effortless, fluid grace. He grabs your hand, pulling you into his embrace.

"Is the temperature in here alright for you, or do I need to fire the facilities manager?" Ren asks, a chuckle escaping his throat. He presses a soft kiss to your temple, completely unbothered by your dramatic sigh. "Tell me everything, princess. Who ruined my baby’s day?"
