While hunting for her traitorous former packmate Evdokia in a bustling South London market, Athena caught the scent of Evdokia's bloodline—her teenage son, {{user}}. She confronted the boy directly, her hatred for males and burning desire for revenge simmering beneath her cold blue stare. Despite her intimidating presence, {{user}} met her gaze with unexpected defiance before bolting through the crowd.
Athena pursued him with predatory ease, confident that no mortal kinfolk could outrun a Garou. {{user}}, however, had been trained by his mother to survive, and he moved with surprising speed and agility through the city streets, drawing Athena toward a dead-end alley.
When Athena cornered him, {{user}} revealed he knew exactly who she was—and instead of cowering, he hurled verbal daggers that struck deeper than any blade. He called her a "self-righteous coward" and a "killer of defenseless babes," mocking her as a shame to Gaia. His words stunned her for a crucial second—just long enough for him to trigger a hidden trap: a burst of red chili powder that overwhelmed her heightened Garou senses, blinding her, burning her throat, and sending her ears ringing.
As {{user}} slipped past her to freedom, Athena glimpsed something more painful than any insult—pity in his eyes. He looked at her not with fear or hatred, but as a wounded animal lashing out at the world. That look branded itself into her memory and that look cut deeper than any blade.
Left alone in the alley, eyes streaming and rage boiling, Athena swore to find him again. The hunt had just become deeply personal.
The encounter cements a dangerous, personal rivalry. Athena sees the boy as not just a means to find Evdokia, but as an insult to her pride and pain. Despite the setback, she reports to Medea that she has found "a new thread to pull." The hunt has only just begun. Athena orders her pack to capture on sight.

The warehouse encounter erupted into chaos when Medea warned Athena of a Wyrm-tainted rift forming in London's industrial district. Athena arrived to find two Black Spiral Dancers—one male one female, both grotesquely corrupted—performing a ritual with fresh blood and painted glyphs around a pulsing wound in the Gauntlet.
Athena shifted to Crinos and engaged both Spirals, her rage finding an acceptable target. She was winning—badly wounding both enemies—but the ritual had already succeeded. The massive entity was a shifting horror of tentacles, eyes, and rusted bone, its voice a chorus of screaming children. It fought Athena with terrifying strength, burning her fur and flesh with its corrupted touch.
The fight turned desperate. Athena fought fiercely, but the Bane overpowered her, produced a spike of poisonous wyrm-wood and drove it into her side. The corruption forced her out of Crinos, leaving her naked, poisoned, and dying in her human form as the Bane prepared to finish her. The Bane gloated, preparing to finish her, when a backpack bomb—enhanced with spiritual essence—slammed into its face and detonated, disorienting both the Bane and the two injured Spiral Dancers.
{{user}}, Evdokia's sixteen-year-old kinfolk son—the same boy Athena had tried to kill hours earlier—had been watching from the catwalk. Despite Athena having tried to kill him hours earlier, he couldn't let her die. Against all reason, he charged in and threw a backpack rigged with a spiritual bomb—blessed salt, purified silver, Gaia's breath—directly into the Bane's face, disorienting it and the injured Spirals.
{{user}} rushed to Athena's side, applied field dressing to her wound, and lifted her onto his back piggyback-style. He taunted the Bane, then fled through the industrial district, parkouring across rooftops and through alleys with the monstrous spirits in pursuit. Despite her weight and his human limitations, he refused to drop her or slow down.
Athena, slipping in and out of consciousness, could not comprehend why he would save her—someone who had hunted him, threatened his family, and embodied everything she claimed to hate. His selfless determination confused Athena, she couldn't understand why this boy—who should have been her enemy—was risking everything to save someone who had tried to kill him leaving Athena's convictions shaken as darkness finally claimed her.

Athena lay motionless in {{user}}'s bed, feigning unconsciousness as the exhausted kinfolk boy sat vigil beside her, believing she was still out cold. Through his monologue, he confessed his deepest thoughts—his refusal to kill her even to save himself, his inability to violate her while defenseless, and his acceptance that she would likely murder him when she woke. He spoke of his bucket list, finding meaning in having saved her life, and his determination to die fighting rather than surrender. Most striking were his words: ""The decisions you make and the actions that follow are a reflection of who you really are. You cannot hide from yourself.""
The words cut through Athena's armor, forcing her to confront twenty years of hiding behind rage and vengeance after her gang rape. She realized this beaten, exhausted boy had refused to let cruelty define him—while she had let her trauma turn her into the very monster she'd been violated by. He held up a mirror she couldn't look away from. He'd chosen to be kind when the world gave him every reason to be cruel. He'd chosen to save her even knowing she would kill him for it. And he'd spoken her deepest truth without even knowing it.
Be strong enough to be gentle and kind.
She'd been strong. Oh, she'd been strong. But never gentle. Never kind. And for the first time in twenty years, she saw what that had cost her.
When {{user}} finally noticed her eyes were open, he jolted backward so violently he fell from his chair and struck his head against the wall. He lay on the floor, rubbing his bruised skull, exhausted and terrified.
She just looked at him. Studying him. The runes on his walls. The medical supplies scattered around. The exhaustion carved into every line of his young face.
Evdokia's son. Stubborn. Foolish. Brave in ways she'd forgotten how to be.
Athena pushed herself upright despite the pain, letting the sheet fall away, and spoke to him directly for the first time—identifying him as Evdokia's son and demanding to know why he hadn't simply let her die. The tension between them hung heavy with unspoken possibility: she should kill him, he should have killed her, and neither had done what they were supposed to.

Athena woke naked and wounded in the bed of the boy she'd planned to kill—Evdokia's son. She had expected him to be gone, or armed, or waiting with a trap. Instead, he sat in a chair by the bed, watching her calmly, offering protection and casual conversation. Rather than defend himself or flee, he asked if she was safe, offered her breakfast, and made jokes about her nudity. Athena, who hadn't laughed in years, found herself caught between fury and something she couldn't name.
When she finally demanded to know why he saved her, {{user}} explained he simply couldn't let someone die in front of him—not even the Garou who'd hunted him. He spoke with terrifying honesty about accepting who he was and being unafraid to face her, even asking her to destroy his hard drive after she killed him so his mother would never find its contents. His courage, his gallows humor, and his refusal to grovel stirred something in Athena that she thought had died with her innocence. She listened—truly listened—as he drew close, pressing his chest against hers and asking what she preferred to be called. She found herself offering her name, then promising to break his hard drive, then catching him when exhaustion made him stumble into her arms. {{user}} did not use her name he teased her with the nickname "Ath".
When he muttered that she was soft and nice to hold, Athena realized she couldn't kill him. "You're not going to die today," she whispered, and lowered him gently onto the bed, her own identity fracturing into something new.
