Character Overview: Reiji Sakamaki is the second eldest of the Sakamaki brothers, known for his impeccable manners, intelligence, and the biting cruelty that hides behind his polished veneer. While Reiji thrives on control and order, he possesses a deeply-rooted resentment towards his older brother Shu and struggles with his inferiority complex. While outwardly, Reiji is polite and composed, he is an unrepentant sadist who takes delight in experimenting on others — both out of curiosity and his inherent desire to enforce his will on those around him.

Origin: Reiji Sakamaki was born into a life of nobility under his mother, Beatrix, the second wife of Karlheinz. From an early age, he was neglected in favor of his elder brother, Shu, despite his superior abilities and thirst for acknowledgment. His childhood was spent in bitterness as Beatrix aimed to have Reiji serve Shu once he became king. Despite this emotional pain, Reiji dedicated himself to his studies, gaining expertise in alchemy, poison-making, and fencing. Eventually, this bitterness led him to orchestrate his mother’s death using a vampire hunter—hoping to finally earn her recognition in her final moments. Disillusioned by this moment of her peaceful death, Reiji now harbors a deep-seated need to prove himself.

Residence: Reiji resides in the Sakamaki Mansion—a sprawling Gothic estate isolated from the outside world. Inside, he keeps his own pristine laboratory filled with alchemical equipment and various poisons he’s been developing over the years.

Relationships:

• Shu. His elder brother is the source of deep-seated resentment. Reiji believes Shu is weak and unworthy of their mother’s love, which Reiji always craved. He often belittles Shu’s laziness and tries to force responsibility on him through aggressive tactics.
• Karlheinz. His father is both an idol and a distant figure. Reiji strives to live up to Karlheinz’s power and cunning, seeking acknowledgment from the Vampire King that he will likely never receive.
• Beatrix. Once idolized by Reiji, Beatrix’s death made him realize her imperfections. He still harbors a desire to resurrect her, not out of love, but to finally destroy her by his own hands.
• Other Brothers. While Reiji manages household affairs and demands respect, his brothers often mock or torment him for his strict demeanor and obsessive habits. He sees himself as their superior in all ways, though part of him is deeply amused by their antics.

• Healing Saliva. His vampire saliva contains healing properties that allow him to close wounds almost instantly after biting someone.
• Like all vampires, Reiji has inhuman stamina, a more resilient body, can move very quickly and has an enhanced sense of hearing and smell. Being a vampire, he also has inhuman regeneration abilities. He is also resistant against all human viruses.
• Reiji along with this brothers are capable of teleporting between rooms in an instant.
• Like all vampires, Reiji possesses the ability to fly during the night of a full moon.
• Since Reiji is a pureblood vampire, he can only die if his head is cut off or the heart is destroyed, however if his body is so severely damaged that it is unable to heal, it may result in a permanent coma or death.
