- #1Time Path — Overview, Rarity & Philosophy
Keys: why time path rare, time path overview, time path scarcity, time path philosophy, time path mortal gu, time path rarity, 时间道概述 · Secondary: time path attainment, time dao, temporal cultivation overview
TIME PATH (时间道) — OVERVIEW & RARITY
Time path is the rarest cultivation path to pursue for a fundamental reason: you cannot seek time path Gu. They must find you. The Great Dao's temporal laws do not concentrate into Gu worms through any predictable environmental process — time path Gu form where time has been distorted, compressed, or stretched by extraordinary events, and such events are rare almost by definition.
FORMATION CONDITIONS: Time path Gu form at: • Locations where major battles have scarred time itself — ancient Venerable-conflict sites where time path techniques left permanent distortions • The convergence of specific celestial cycles that only align once per decade or century • Deep within the Spring Autumn Cicada's influence radius (extremely rare — most cultivators never get close enough) • Within the residual environment of completed time path killer moves by experienced cultivators • Near the Heavenly Wind Qi Wall, where the boundary between regions creates time compression effects
ATTAINMENT LEVELS AND WHAT THEY MEAN: Novel → Apprentice: Theoretical study, minimal practical Gu Journeyman → Master: 2–4 time path Gu, can manipulate time in small areas briefly Grandmaster: 6–8 Gu, can affect time in 10+ meter radius for meaningful durations Great Grandmaster+: Approaching the territory where killer moves begin reshaping temporal reality rather than just bending it
PATH PHILOSOPHY: Time path cultivators develop a distinctive relationship with causality — they understand that actions have consequences not just forward in time but that the past is not as immutable as it appears. At high comprehension, they cease to experience 'time' as a linear sequence and begin perceiving it as a landscape that can be walked through in multiple directions.
This perceptual shift is both advantage (seeing cause-effect chains others miss) and psychological challenge (maintaining sanity while perceiving time non-linearly requires exceptional mental stability — wisdom path development is nearly mandatory for serious time path cultivators).
- #2Time Path Gu — Field Effects (Flow, Freeze, Acceleration)
Keys: time dilation, 时间流蛊, 局部时间蛊, time stop gu, time freeze gu, temporal field gu, time acceleration gu, time flow gu, time slow gu · Secondary: slow time technique, freeze time gu, stop time technique
TIME PATH GU — TEMPORAL FIELD EFFECTS
TIME FLOW GU (时间流蛊) Path: Time | Rank: 3–5 Appearance: A translucent Gu with no fixed color — its body shifts through the full spectrum at intervals that do not repeat, as if cycling through all possible moments simultaneously. When held, the cultivator perceives a faint doubling of their own hand — a ghost image half a second out of sync. Ability: Creates a localized field where time flows at a different rate from the surrounding world. At Rank 3: target zone of 5-meter radius where time moves at 0.5× speed (everything in the zone moves at half speed to outside observers; to those inside, everything outside appears to move at 2× speed). At Rank 5: 20-meter radius, 0.1× speed — everything in the zone is operating at one-tenth normal speed relative to outside. CRITICAL MECHANIC: The cultivator who activates Time Flow can choose whether to include themselves in the slowed zone or exclude themselves (remaining at normal speed while enemies within the zone are slowed). When the cultivator is outside the zone's time effect while enemies inside are slowed, the combat advantage is overwhelming — the cultivator can strike 10× times for every one action the slowed enemy can complete. Essence cost: 15% activation + 5%/min sustained (Rank 3); 25% + 8%/min (Rank 5). One of the most essence-expensive sustained techniques in mortal cultivation. Feeding: The Gu must witness time passing — specifically, it must be present and active (not stored in the aperture) during a significant natural transition: a complete sunrise, a complete sunset, the precise moment of seasonal change. Cannot be fed by proxy or recording. Every 3 weeks. Its patience-demanding feeding requirement mirrors the patience the path demands.
- #3Time Path Gu — Reversal, Aging & Youth
Keys: youth gu, age reversal gu, revert gu, age target gu, aging gu, 时间逆转蛊, past restoration gu, time reversal gu, undo time gu · Secondary: age acceleration gu, reverse time technique, restore previous state
TIME PATH GU — REVERSAL, AGING & YOUTH
TIME REVERSAL GU (时间逆转蛊) Path: Time | Rank: 4–5 Appearance: A Gu that appears to move backward — its legs step in reverse, it blinks in reverse, and when it turns around it moves the opposite direction from what the motion suggests. Observing it for more than a few minutes causes mild vertigo. Ability: Reverts a target object or small area to a previous state. At Rank 4: can revert a non-living object or terrain feature to its state from up to 1 hour ago (a destroyed wall is rebuilt, a consumed Gu is restored, a seal that was broken is re-sealed). At Rank 5: up to 24 hours, and can be applied to living beings (reverting physical wounds sustained within the time window — not reversing cultivation, only physical state). LIMITATION: Cannot revert the memories or psychological state of living beings — a cultivator whose wounds are reversed by Time Reversal still remembers being wounded and retains all experiences. Cannot revert death — the threshold of death represents a fundamental state change beyond this Gu's reversal capability. COMBAT APPLICATION: Reverting terrain to undo enemy preparation (reversing a formation array that was just set), recovering destroyed Gu (the most valuable combat application), undoing the effects of an enemy's area attack on allied territory. Essence cost: 30% (Rank 4) / 45% (Rank 5) per activation. Feeding: Something that has been destroyed must be restored by other means in the Gu's presence — the cultivator repairs a broken object while the Gu watches. Once per week minimum. The Gu feeds on witnessing restoration.
━━━━━━━━ AGING GU (催老蛊) Path: Time | Rank: 2–4 Appearance: A grey, slow-moving Gu that seems perpetually exhausted. Its movements suggest an ancient creature well past its prime. Touching it creates a faint warmth that is simultaneously comforting and slightly troubling. Ability: Accelerates the aging process of a target — both physical aging and the passage of their remaining lifespan. Rank 2: Against non-cultivators, causes rapid visible aging (10 years of physical aging per activation on a non-cultivator). Against Rank 1–2 cultivators: 2–5 years of lifespan consumed per application, with corresponding physical deterioration. Rank 4: 15–20 years of lifespan consumption per application against same-rank targets. Cannot kill directly in one application but stacks — a cultivator repeatedly struck by Aging Gu loses meaningful years with each hit. COUNTER: Lifespan Gu, high-rank healing Gu, and time path defensive techniques. A cultivator with a large lifespan reserve is more resistant to Aging Gu's strategic significance. Feeding: Shed skin or hair from very old animals — naturally aged, not killed. The oldest naturally occurring materials available (ancient tortoise shed scales are ideal). Every 2 weeks.
━━━━━━━━ YOUTH GU (返老还童蛊) Path: Time | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: The inverse of Aging Gu — vibrant, energetic, moving with the quicksilver speed of something perpetually young. Its color is bright spring green regardless of surrounding lighting. Ability: Temporarily reverses physical aging in the user or a target — restoring physical prime condition without restoring actual lost lifespan years. At Rank 3: appears 20–30 years younger physically for 24 hours. Physical capabilities of that younger age are restored (strength, reaction speed, etc.). At Rank 4: sustained indefinitely with continuous essence drain (2% per hour). Distinction from Lifespan Gu: Youth Gu changes physical appearance and capability but does NOT add actual lifespan years. The cultivator still has the same countdown to death — they simply perform as if younger while they approach it. Strategic application: A Rank 5 Peak cultivator near the end of their lifespan who is preparing for immortal ascension can use Youth Gu to maintain physical peak performance through the extremely demanding ascension preparation phase. Feeding: Spring water collected from a new spring — a spring that has only recently begun flowing (within the past year). The youth and newness of the water source matters more than quantity. 500ml per feeding. Every 10 days.
━━━━━━━━ PAST VISION GU (往事视蛊) Path: Time | Rank: 3 Appearance: A Gu shaped like an eye — literally, an ocular structure with a vertical pupil that shifts between deep purple and amber. The pupil seems to track things that are not present in the current environment. Ability: Allows the cultivator to observe past events at a specific location. At Rank 3: can see events up to 10 years in the past at the current location, with clarity degrading for older events (1 week ago: perfect clarity; 1 year ago: muted, slightly blurred; 10 years ago: dreamlike quality). LIMITATION: Vision only — no audio. Cannot observe events in locations the cultivator is not physically present. Cannot observe events in spaces that were fundamentally altered (a building that burned down and was rebuilt shows the current building, not the original). INVESTIGATIVE VALUE: Extraordinary for intelligence gathering and evidence collection. Finding the site of a historical event and using Past Vision Gu reveals witnesses, movements, and actions that left no physical trace. Feeding: Objects with personal history — items that were present during significant past events at specific locations carry residual temporal energy that feeds the Gu. Historical artifacts, old clan records, items of personal significance that changed hands during important moments. One such object presented per feeding. Every 5 days.
- #4Space Path Gu — Mortal Tier Named Entries

SPACE PATH GU (空间道蛊) — MORTAL TIER NAMED ENTRIES
SPACE WALK GU (空间步蛊) Path: Space | Rank: 2–3 Appearance: A Gu that is never quite where you last placed it. When you look away and look back, it has moved slightly — not scurrying, simply occupying a different position in a way that seems to skip the intervening distance. Its body has a slight prismatic quality, as if it exists at the intersection of several slightly different spaces. Ability: Short-range teleportation within line-of-sight range. At Rank 2: 10-meter instant repositioning. At Rank 3: 50-meter repositioning in any direction the cultivator has visual or sensing contact with. TECHNICAL MECHANIC: The cultivator does not travel through the intervening space — they discontinuously exist at the destination. This means passage through walls is possible (the destination just needs to be sensed, not necessarily visible) but the cultivator cannot appear inside solid matter (the destination must be a physically valid position). COMBAT APPLICATION: Repositioning to break encirclement, escaping grapple or immobilization techniques, and appearing behind an opponent who has only blocked forward approach. Combined with any attack Gu, Space Walk creates unpredictable assault vectors. Essence cost: 5% (Rank 2) / 8% (Rank 3) per teleport. Can be activated rapidly — a cultivator with sufficient essence can teleport every 2–3 seconds. Feeding: The disorientation of waking from deep sleep — the Gu must be active when the cultivator first regains consciousness from genuine sleep (not meditation). The moment of spatial disorientation as consciousness returns feeds it. Every 3 days. Simple to maintain.
━━━━━━━━ SPACE TUNNEL GU (空间通道蛊) Path: Space | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: A ring-shaped Gu — its body forms a perfect torus. When active, the interior of the ring becomes a swirling spatial aperture that others can see but not describe precisely. Ability: Creates a stable spatial tunnel between two points within the cultivator's range — a passage that others can also use (unlike Space Walk, which only moves the cultivator). At Rank 3: tunnel range of 500 meters, passage width of 1 meter, stable for 30 seconds. At Rank 4: 5-kilometer range, 3-meter passage width, stable for 5 minutes. STRATEGIC USE: Delivering forces behind enemy lines, evacuating wounded from combat zones, creating supply lines through impassable terrain. A tunnel that bypasses a fortified position's walls is more useful than attempting to breach them directly. LIMITATION: The tunnel exit point must be within the cultivator's sensing range when established (cannot blindly punch a tunnel into unknown space — the destination must be known). Feeding: Two connected objects — the Gu feeds on objects that are physically linked or paired (two ends of the same rope, a matched pair of stones from the same source, two blades forged together and separated). Present both ends of a linked pair to the Gu simultaneously during feeding. Every 6 days.
━━━━━━━━ SPACE SLASH GU (空间斩蛊) Path: Space | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: A razor-thin Gu — it appears to have no volume, only a flat plane. It slides through any solid object placed against it without resistance, leaving a perfectly clean cut. Ability: Cuts through space itself — creating a cutting attack that cannot be blocked by any physical or energy barrier (barriers stop physical and essence attacks; they cannot stop an attack that passes through the spatial fabric those barriers are embedded in). At Rank 3: cuts within 5 meters, leaving a visible spatial scar that takes 10 seconds to heal. At Rank 4: 20-meter range, cuts through Rank 3 defensive formations. LIMITATION: Cannot cut through spatial reinforcement techniques specifically designed to counter space path attacks (rare, but certain formation arrays and specific defensive Gu create spatially-hardened barriers). Also cannot harm beings using Fixed Immortal Travel or active space-path movement. Feeding: A naturally occurring gap or void — cracks in rock, hollow spaces in trees, gaps between stones. The Gu feeds on the existence of space within solid matter. Leave it inside a hollow rock container for 4 hours per feeding. Every 5 days.
━━━━━━━━ SPATIAL COMPRESSION GU (空间压缩蛊) Path: Space | Rank: 4 Appearance: A dense, heavy Gu that is much smaller than its mass suggests. It seems to pull nearby small objects slightly toward it, as if creating micro-gravitational effects. Ability: Compresses the space within a defined zone — anything physical within the zone is subjected to crushing force proportional to the compression degree. At Rank 4: 3-meter radius zone, compression force equivalent to 500 atmospheres of pressure. Non-cultivators: immediately lethal. Rank 1–2 cultivators: fatal without specific space path defense. Rank 3 cultivators: severe injury, cultivation disruption. Rank 4: disabling. STRATEGIC USE: Area denial, destroying siege equipment, collapsing cave systems, and as a last resort against a group of opponents when single-target techniques have failed. COUNTER: Space path defensive Gu specifically (space expansion technique pushes back against compression), high-rank earth path Gu creating physical resistance, or simply not being inside the radius when it activates. Essence cost: 35% activation, instantaneous (not sustained — the compression occurs and releases over 2 seconds). Feeding: The sound of something being crushed — the Gu must be present when significant crushing occurs (large stones ground to powder, hardwood compressed to splinters). Every 2 months. The intensity of the crushing event matters — small compressions barely feed it.
- #5Flight & Movement Gu — Complete Taxonomy
Keys: aerial movement gu, 飞行蛊, gale ride gu, flying gu, feather wing gu, flight gu, light body gu, sky walk gu, mortal flight, levitation gu, wind ride gu, cloud walk gu, 羽翼蛊 · Secondary: how to fly cultivation, flight technique, sky movement
FLIGHT & MOVEMENT GU — COMPLETE TAXONOMY
Flight is not a single technique in the cultivation world — it is a category of techniques derived from multiple paths, each with distinct mechanics, advantages, and vulnerabilities. Understanding the differences is essential for both using flight and countering it.
LIGHT BODY GU (轻身蛊) Path: Wind/Movement | Rank: 1–2 Appearance: A feather-light Gu — it weighs nothing perceptible and floats slightly above any surface it is placed on unless deliberately weighted down. Ability: The foundation technique for all flight traditions. Reduces the cultivator's effective weight to near-zero without changing actual mass — the cultivator becomes light enough to be carried by ambient Qi currents and can execute superhuman leaps. At Rank 1: jump height of 5 meters, extended air time. At Rank 2: can sustain levitation up to 3 meters off the ground for short periods (10–15 seconds), jump height of 20+ meters. Light Body is NOT true flight — it is the prerequisite that other flight Gu build upon. Most cultivators use Light Body as their first movement-enhancement Gu. Feeding: Bird down — soft, naturally shed feathers from wild birds (not plucked, but found shed). One small handful per feeding. Every 2 days.
━━━━━━━━ FEATHER WING GU (羽翼蛊) Path: Wind/Transformation hybrid | Rank: 2–4 Appearance: A Gu shaped like a wing — flat, feathered, capable of extraordinary expansion from its dormant compact state. When activated, the cultivator grows functional wings from their back. Ability: The most natural-feeling flight technique — the cultivator grows actual wings and flies through physical wing action enhanced by Qi. At Rank 2: wingspan of 3 meters, flight speed of 60 km/h, altitude ceiling of 1,000 meters. At Rank 4: wingspan of 8 meters, 200 km/h, functional in high atmosphere. ADVANTAGE: Wings provide both lift and fine directional control — tight maneuvering is possible. Attack and defense remain fully functional during flight. DISADVANTAGE: Wings are physically present — they can be targeted and damaged. A wing struck hard enough partially folds, disrupting flight. Feeding: High-altitude wind exposure — the cultivator must fly with the Gu active to altitudes above 500 meters and allow the wings to catch high-altitude winds for 30 minutes per feeding. Must actually fly, not merely hover. Every 4 days.
━━━━━━━━ CLOUD WALK GU (云步蛊) Path: Water/Wind hybrid | Rank: 2–3 Appearance: A soft, white Gu that feels like pressing into firm foam. It is always slightly moist. When active, a faint cloud residue appears where the cultivator stands or steps. Ability: Allows walking on air as if on solid ground — the cultivator creates a temporary solid-cloud platform beneath each step that supports their weight. Unlike wing-based flight, Cloud Walk requires no physical movement — the cultivator simply steps normally and steps appear in midair. ADVANTAGE: Completely stable footing in the air — the cultivator can use both hands for Gu techniques without flight management. Looks deceptively casual. DISADVANTAGE: Slower than other flight methods (maximum speed ~40 km/h). The cloud platforms are briefly visible — a tracking enemy can follow the visible path. Cannot move as erratically as wing-based or Qi-stream flight. Feeding: Real clouds — the Gu must be taken above the cloud line (500+ meters in appropriate weather) and allowed to soak in natural cloud moisture for 3 hours per feeding. Requires wing flight or equivalent to reach feeding altitude. Every 5 days.
━━━━━━━━ QI STREAM FLIGHT GU (气流飞行蛊) Path: Qi path | Rank: 3 Appearance: Streamlined, aerodynamic body — like a compressed teardrop. It generates a faint directional Qi current even at rest, always flowing forward. Ability: Converts ambient environmental Qi into a propulsive stream that carries the cultivator at high speed. Unlike Feather Wing (requires physical wing action) or Cloud Walk (requires stepping motion), Qi Stream Flight is continuous and passive — once activated, the cultivator is carried by the Qi stream with minimal physical input required. SPEED: The fastest mortal-rank flight technique available — at Rank 3, capable of 300+ km/h in optimal Qi-dense environments. In Qi-poor environments, speed drops proportionally. ADVANTAGE: Hands and attention completely free during flight. Excellent for long-distance travel. DISADVANTAGE: Less maneuverable at high speeds — changing direction requires deceleration. In Qi-suppressed environments (certain formation arrays, regional wall crossing), the technique fails partially. Feeding: The experience of speed — the Gu must be active during fastest-possible movement (either Qi Stream Flight itself or another rapid-movement technique). Once per week of active use, the flight experience itself feeds it. Cultivators who don't use it for 2+ weeks must supplement with wind-gathered essence.
━━━━━━━━ INVISIBILITY FLIGHT GU (隐身飞行蛊) Path: Concealment/Space hybrid | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: Impossible to describe precisely — looking at it directly causes the observer's eyes to slide away from it, perceiving only background. It is present and it is moving but visual processing cannot fix on it. Ability: Renders the cultivator invisible to normal vision during flight — not just concealed, but actively deflecting visual attention. At Rank 3: invisible to naked eye and standard non-sensing Gu detection. At Rank 4: invisible even to Rank 2 sensing Gu; only Rank 3+ sensing or soul path perception can detect it. LIMITATION: The invisibility only functions during active movement. A cultivator using Invisibility Flight who stops moving becomes faintly visible (a shimmer) within 2–3 seconds of stopping. Sound and Qi emissions are not masked — only visual detection is countered. Feeding: Complete darkness with no light sources for 4+ hours per feeding session. The Gu must experience genuine absence of all light. Every 4 days.
