WEAPON PATHS — PHILOSOPHY & OVERVIEW
The weapon paths — sword, sabre, spear, bow, fist, leg, and their variants — are among the oldest cultivation traditions, predating the systematic path codifications of Remote Antiquity. Where strength path cultivates the body as the weapon, weapon paths cultivate the bond between body and instrument: the sword extension of the self, the sabre as focused will, the spear as projected reach.
THE FUNDAMENTAL DISTINCTION FROM STRENGTH PATH: Strength path enhances the body's intrinsic force. Weapon paths channel primeval essence through an external or semi-external medium — a blade form, a projectile pattern, a concentrated strike point. This creates a critical mechanical difference: • Strength path attacks are always body-sourced — the power is where the body is • Weapon paths project power away from the body — a sword Qi strike can reach targets meters away while the cultivator remains still, a flying sword can operate at the maximum range of essence-projection • Weapon paths are generally more essence-efficient for ranged or projected attacks but less efficient for sustained direct physical confrontation
PATH HIERARCHY IN WEAPON TRADITIONS: Sword path is considered the most technically demanding weapon path — its techniques require the finest precision and have the deepest theoretical tradition. Sabre path is considered the most battle-efficient — its techniques are brutal, fast, and require less precision to be devastating. Spear path is considered the most reach-oriented — spear path cultivators are extraordinarily dangerous in mid-range where other melee styles cannot engage them. Bow path is the supreme ranged tradition — Rank 4+ bow path Gu allows engagement at distances other paths simply cannot contest.
KILLER MOVE PHILOSOPHY FOR WEAPON PATHS: Weapon path killer moves classically combine:
- A formation Gu (defining the attack pattern and spatial structure)
- An execution Gu (delivering the actual damage)
- An enhancement Gu (boosting speed, penetration, or multiplying the attack count) The resulting techniques are tight, precise, and can be devastatingly efficient — a well-constructed 3-Gu weapon path killer move often outperforms a 5-Gu strength path killer move of equivalent rank against single targets.

SWORD PATH GU — NAMED ENTRIES
SWORD ESCAPE GU (剑遁蛊) Path: Sword | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: A thin, silver-bodied insect resembling a dragonfly, but its wings are razor-edged membranes that draw blood if touched carelessly. It vibrates at high frequency when active, creating a faint singing note. Ability: The cultivator's body temporarily transforms into a condensed sword-form, traveling at speeds several times greater than conventional movement Gu of equivalent rank. During transformation: the cultivator is narrow, extremely fast, and can cut through obstacles encountered mid-travel. The technique is both movement and attack — a cultivator using Sword Escape through a cluster of enemies cuts all of them simultaneously. Essence cost: Rank 3 version: ~12–15% per activation. Rank 4: ~8–10% (more efficient at higher rank). Limitations: Cannot maintain the transformation for more than 3–5 seconds per activation. Cannot turn sharply during the transformation — path must be relatively linear. Cannot be active while wielding physical tools or maintaining other active Gu simultaneously. Feeding: Sharpened steel shavings — the Gu consumes thin strips of metal sharpened to the finest possible edge. Must be freshly sharpened (metal that has been blunted or corroded is rejected). Every 4–6 days. At Rank 4: every 7–10 days but requires higher-quality metal (refined steel minimum, not common iron). Missed feeding consequence: The transformation duration shrinks by 0.5 seconds per day overdue. At 10+ days, the form becomes unstable — the cultivator may partially transform and be unable to complete the technique, resulting in a locked-in partial state requiring emergency dissolution.
━━━━━━━━ SWORD QI GU (剑气蛊) Path: Sword | Rank: 1–4 (various grades exist) Appearance: A small, thin-bodied moth with wings that appear to be made of compressed light refracting in lines — it catches light and splits it like a prism into narrow bands. Almost beautiful to look at, like a living gemstone. Ability: Projects compressed sword Qi — a focused line of cutting energy — from the cultivator's fingertip, palm, or the tip of a physical blade they're holding. The Qi strike travels in a straight line at high speed, cutting through materials according to rank. Rank 1: Cuts rope, leather, thin wood. Wounds lightly armored enemies at close range. Rank 2: Cuts through medium armor, stone up to 5cm thick. Reliable combat Gu at the minor-elder level. Rank 3: Cuts through reinforced armor, stone up to 30cm, hardwood walls. Can penetrate Rank 1 stone-skin defenses. Rank 4: Cuts through solid rock, early immortal-material density (non-reinforced), capable of threatening Rank 5 cultivators' passive defenses at optimal angles. Essence cost: 2% / 5% / 10% / 18% per activation by rank. Feeding: The accumulated cutting intent of a practicing swordsman — the Gu feeds on the focused mental state of a cultivator who is actively practicing sword strikes (not cultivation meditation, but physical practice). 30–60 minutes of focused sword practice near the Gu per feeding session. Every 3 days (Rank 1–2), every 5 days (Rank 3–4). Cannot be fed by proxy — the feeding practitioner must be the Gu's owner. Missed feeding consequence: The Qi projections become ragged and lose penetration (50% effectiveness at 7 days overdue). At 14 days, the Gu begins firing randomly inside the aperture.
━━━━━━━━ SWORD DRAGON GU (剑龙蛊) Path: Sword | Rank: 4–5 Appearance: A large, serpentine insect — nearly 30cm when fully extended — whose body is composed of overlapping metallic scales that slide against each other with a sound like hundreds of small swords being drawn simultaneously. Its eyes are twin points of cold blue light. Ability: Summons and directs a dragon-form construct made entirely of compressed sword energy. The dragon is semi-autonomous — it attacks with its own judgment within the range of the cultivator's essence-projection. At Rank 4: the dragon is 5–8 meters long, capable of multiple simultaneous targets, and each strike carries the full force of a Rank 4 sword Qi attack. At Rank 5: the dragon grows to 20+ meters, can split into smaller sword-constructs mid-combat, and its passive presence creates continuous cutting-pressure in a 10-meter radius (unprotected materials within range are gradually shredded). Essence cost: Rank 4: ~25% initial summon + 5% per minute sustained. Rank 5: ~35% initial + 8% per minute. This is one of the most expensive mortal-rank Gu to sustain. Feeding: The Gu feeds on the concentrated essence of a completed sword technique — the satisfying completion of a perfectly executed cut. Once per feeding session, the cultivator must perform their best sword killer move to full completion (not training, but a full-power execution against a valid target — a rock, a tree, a training dummy reinforced to Rank 3 equivalent). Every 3 months (Rank 4), every 5 months (Rank 5). Missed feeding: The dragon construct becomes increasingly aggressive and difficult to control. At 4+ months overdue (Rank 4): the summoned dragon attacks the cultivator's own allies and the cultivator cannot redirect it.
━━━━━━━━ MYRIAD SWORD GU (万剑蛊) Path: Sword | Rank: 3–5 Appearance: A colony Gu — what appears to be one creature is actually a tight cluster of hundreds of microscopic sword-shaped insects that move as a single unit, resembling a floating metallic cloud. When dispersed for attack, they separate into individual micro-swords visible to the naked eye. Ability: Creates and controls a field of up to thousands of tiny sword constructs simultaneously, attacking all targets within a defined radius. Unlike Sword Dragon (single powerful construct), Myriad Sword sacrifices per-strike power for overwhelming volume. At Rank 3: 200–500 micro-swords, each carrying Rank 1 equivalent cutting force. At Rank 5: 5,000–10,000 micro-swords, each carrying Rank 3 equivalent force — total damage output is staggering against anything without a full-body essence barrier. Weakness: Each individual micro-sword is fragile — a Rank 3+ cultivator's passive defense disperses them. Myriad Sword excels against groups of lower-rank opponents or against armored non-cultivator targets, not against higher-rank single opponents. Feeding: Iron-rich water — the Gu must be submerged in water containing dissolved iron (achieved by leaving metal implements in water for several days before use as feed). One liter per feeding. Every 6 days.
━━━━━━━━ SWORD BURIAL GU (剑葬蛊) Path: Sword | Rank: 3 Appearance: A grey-brown earthworm-shaped Gu that seems completely out of place among the elegant, metallic sword path Gu. Its power is entirely invisible until triggered. Ability: Allows the cultivator to plant invisible sword energy into terrain — ground, walls, water surfaces, even air currents in concentrated form. The planted energy is undetectable by standard sensing Gu. When an enemy enters the trigger zone (set by the cultivator), the buried sword energy erupts upward with the force of a Rank 3 sword Qi attack. Usage: Pure ambush and trap technique. A cultivator with 10 Sword Burial Gu active can create a minefield of invisible sword traps across a 100m² area. Combined with terrain that forces enemies along predictable paths, this becomes a devastating prepared-battlefield technique. Feeding: Loose soil from a recently dug grave — specifically earth that has covered a burial. The Gu finds something appropriate about the concept of buried potential. Half a cup of such soil per feeding, every 5 days. Difficult to feed during travel unless the cultivator plans ahead.
━━━━━━━━ SWORD FANG GU (剑牙蛊) Path: Sword | Rank: 2 Appearance: A small, white, tooth-shaped Gu with a single serrated edge running its length. Multiple cultivators maintain 4–6 of them simultaneously, as they are commonly used in sets. Ability: Creates a short, rapidly vibrating sword-fang construct around the user's fist, foot, or any limb — adding cutting force to physical strikes. Unlike pure sword Qi projection (which is purely ranged), Sword Fang converts a melee strike into a simultaneous cutting attack. A punch combined with Sword Fang penetrates armor that would deflect the physical impact alone. Combination note: Extremely common in killer moves paired with strength path Gu — the physical force of the strength strike and the cutting force of the Sword Fang stack multiplicatively against barriers designed for only one type of attack. Feeding: Crushed animal bone — specifically the fang or tooth of a predator beast. The beast must have been killed by the cultivator personally (or a trusted clan member). Pre-purchased processed bone is accepted at 50% efficiency. Every 4 days.
- #3Sabre Path Gu — Named Entries with Feeding
Keys: sabre dragon gu, named sabre gu, sky sabre gu, sabre cultivation, sabre path gu, sabre qi, 刀道, slaughter sabre gu, sabre light gu, blood sabre gu · Secondary: sabre path cultivator, sabre technique, sabre worm
SABRE PATH GU (刀道蛊) — NAMED ENTRIES
PATH PHILOSOPHY: Where sword path prizes precision and elegance, sabre path prizes momentum and decisiveness. A sabre technique completed is a kill delivered. Sabre path cultivators tend toward overwhelming force over finesse — their killer moves are designed to end fights in the first exchange. The path rewards aggressive forward momentum and punishes hesitation.
SABRE LIGHT GU (刀光蛊) Path: Sabre | Rank: 1–3 Appearance: A flat, blade-shaped Gu whose body is entirely reflective — like a living mirror. Under direct light it becomes nearly invisible. Its edges are the sharpest natural surface in the Gu world at its rank. Ability: Projects a flash of cutting light in a wide horizontal or vertical arc. Unlike Sword Qi (narrow line), Sabre Light covers a broad attack zone — a Rank 2 Sabre Light arc can cut everything in a 3-meter wide swath. Excellent for crowd control and for dealing with opponents who use evasion rather than blocking. Essence cost: 3% / 6% / 12% by rank. Feeding: Reflected sunlight — the Gu must be placed in direct sunlight for 4–6 hours per feeding, positioned on a reflective surface (polished metal preferred) that maximizes light concentration. Cannot be fed at night or indoors. Every 3 days (Rank 1–2), every 5 days (Rank 3). Cultivators in Southern Border's permanent-canopy forests must plan feeding trips to elevated clearings. Missed feeding: The reflective body dims progressively. At 8 days overdue, the arc attack scatters rather than concentrating — hitting everything within a 180° arc at 20% normal force, including allies.
━━━━━━━━ SKY SABRE GU (天刀蛊) Path: Sabre | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: A large Gu — 15–20cm — shaped like a crescent with the concave edge lined in iridescent blue-black scales. When active, it hovers above the cultivator's shoulder and radiates cold. Ability: Summons an enormous sabre construct from above — the attack descends vertically with the weight of the sky behind it. At Rank 3: the construct is 3 meters of dense sabre energy, impact force equivalent to a Rank 3 physical attack concentrated on a 1-meter strike zone. At Rank 4: 8-meter construct, creates a shockwave on impact that knocks back everything within 5 meters, regardless of whether they blocked the direct strike. Signature use: Against defensive formations and fortified positions. The downward trajectory of Sky Sabre bypasses horizontal barrier Gu (which are typically configured to deflect lateral attacks) and lands with vertical force that most defensive arrays are not optimized to handle. Essence cost: 18% (Rank 3), 28% (Rank 4) per summon. Feeding: Dew collected from mountain peaks above the cloud line — specifically dawn dew that has been exposed to sky (not cloud cover) for the entire preceding night. One small vessel (100ml) per feeding. Every 2 months (Rank 3), every 3 months (Rank 4). Missed feeding: The construct appears but immediately dissipates instead of striking (full essence cost with zero effect). At 5+ months overdue, the Gu summons the construct autonomously and directs it at the cultivator.
━━━━━━━━ SLAUGHTER SABRE GU (杀戮刀蛊) Path: Sabre | Rank: 2–3 Appearance: Deep red, almost black. Shaped like a comma — rounded at one end, tapering to a point. Warm to the touch. It smells faintly of iron. Ability: Amplifies the killing intent behind a sabre technique — in practice, this means every sabre Gu the cultivator activates while Slaughter Sabre is active receives a 40–60% damage boost against living targets. The boost is specifically against living things: the same attacks against non-living obstacles (stone, wood, formation arrays) receive no bonus. Combination: Almost always used as a component in killer moves rather than standalone — it is the enhancement Gu that makes other sabre techniques devastating against living opponents. Flaw: The amplified killing intent has a secondary effect — the cultivator's bloodlust becomes palpable to sensitive Gu and cultivators nearby. Enemies with soul path sensing capability can detect Slaughter Sabre's activation before the attack arrives, giving them a reaction window. Feeding: Blood from a kill — specifically the blood of an enemy the cultivator personally killed in combat. The Gu will not accept blood from animals killed for food or from purchased sources. One small vessel (50ml) per feeding. Every 5 days. Cultivators who maintain this Gu must engage in regular combat or maintain a captive enemy for feeding purposes. Missed feeding: The kill-intent amplification reverses — the cultivator's own attacks carry a subtle self-doubt signature that reduces their effectiveness by 20%. Cannot be detected directly; it manifests as kills that 'should have landed' failing.
━━━━━━━━ BLOOD SABRE GU (血刀蛊) Path: Sabre / Blood (hybrid) | Rank: 3 Appearance: A leech-like body with sabre-edge finned extensions. When active, the fins extend and harden to blade-sharpness. Its color cycles between deep crimson and bright arterial red depending on its satiation state. Ability: A weapon path / blood path intersection technique. Blood Sabre converts the cultivator's own blood into sabre energy, launching blood-formed sabre constructs that carry both physical cutting force and a blood-path secondary effect (opponents struck by Blood Sabre constructs suffer minor blood destabilization — their own blood path Gu, if any, are temporarily disrupted; non-Gu users suffer micro-hemorrhaging at wound sites that resists immediate closing). Demonic path note: Classified as a borderline technique by most righteous path organizations — not universally banned but flagged. Using it in clan-supervised combat may require explanation. Feeding: Equal parts cultivator's own blood and predator beast blood, mixed. 100ml total per feeding. Every 4 days. The cultivator must contribute their own blood personally (cannot be prepared by another).
━━━━━━━━ SABRE DRAGON GU (刀龙蛊) Path: Sabre | Rank: 4–5 Appearance: Like Sword Dragon Gu in form but fundamentally different in character — where Sword Dragon is lean and precise, Sabre Dragon is massive and blunt. Its body is broad, heavily scaled in overlapping plates of dark metal, with a wide jaw built for crushing rather than piercing. Ability: Summons a dragon construct of pure sabre energy. Where Sword Dragon is precise and multi-targeting, Sabre Dragon is a battering ram — its attacks are devastating area-of-effect blows that flatten terrain and break through fortifications. A single tail-sweep from a Rank 4 Sabre Dragon levels a 20-meter section of stone wall. Usage distinction from Sword Dragon: Sword Dragon excels in precise combat against multiple individual targets. Sabre Dragon excels in destroying terrain features, breaking through fortified positions, and delivering single overwhelming blows against targets that have survived subtler approaches. Essence cost: 30% summon + 8% per minute sustained. Feeding: The rendered fat of a large predator beast — specifically one killed in combat by the cultivator's own sabre technique. Processed into candles, burned in proximity to the Gu during feeding. 3–4 such candles per feeding. Every 4 months.
- #4Spear Path Gu — Named Entries with Feeding
Keys: 枪道, thunder spear gu, reach gu, spear fang gu, spear path gu named, spear path gu, spear path overview, spear spirit gu, spear cultivation · Secondary: spear martial path, spear technique, spear worm
SPEAR PATH GU (枪道蛊) — NAMED ENTRIES
PATH PHILOSOPHY: The spear is reach made absolute. Spear path cultivators occupy the most dangerous engagement range — beyond arm's length but not in the ranged territory where bow path dominates. A spear path cultivator controls the space around them in a way that neither melee nor ranged paths can match. Their killer moves are designed to deny approach: an enemy who cannot close to optimal combat range against a spear path cultivator is an enemy fighting on entirely wrong terms.
SPEAR SPIRIT GU (枪灵蛊) Path: Spear | Rank: 2–4 Appearance: A slim, elongated insect resembling a walking stick but entirely silver. Its body is segmented — when active, the segments separate to form a spear-spirit construct that hovers ahead of the cultivator like a ghostly weapon. Ability: Animates a semi-autonomous spear construct that the cultivator can direct with minimal active concentration. The construct probes, feints, and thrusts independently based on the cultivator's intent — freeing the cultivator's attention to manage other Gu. At Rank 2: the spirit can make 2 independent attacks per second within 3 meters. At Rank 4: 5 attacks per second within 8 meters, each carrying Rank 3 equivalent force. Strategic value: The semi-autonomy means the cultivator can be cultivating essence (in safe situations) or managing other Gu while the Spear Spirit defends a position. It cannot be deactivated by enemy attacks — only by destroying the Gu itself or exhausting the cultivator's essence. Feeding: Morning dew collected on spear-tip — the cultivator must hold their physical spear (or a spear-shaped object) outdoors at dawn and allow dew to collect on the tip, then feed this dew directly to the Gu. Every 3–5 days by rank. The ritual nature of the feeding (must be performed personally at dawn) is its primary inconvenience.
━━━━━━━━ THUNDER SPEAR GU (雷枪蛊) Path: Spear / Thunder (hybrid) | Rank: 3 Appearance: A bright yellow, jagged-bodied Gu that crackles with static electricity. Touching it without insulation Gu causes a mild but unpleasant electric discharge. Its legs end in points that spark when it walks on conductive surfaces. Ability: Charges a spear technique with lightning energy — the resulting strike carries both physical penetration force and electrical discharge on contact. The lightning component bypasses metal armor (which conducts rather than blocks it) and disrupts any electrically-sensitive Gu the target is using at the moment of impact. Combat application: Exceptionally effective against formation arrays (which are inherently electrical-metaphor structures — their Gu connections are disrupted by the lightning discharge) and against cultivators who depend on metal-component Gu. Feeding: Struck by lightning — the Gu must be placed outdoors during a thunderstorm and struck directly by natural lightning. This is not as difficult as it sounds (spear path cultivators often use metal-tipped rods to attract strikes) but requires planning around weather patterns. Once struck, the Gu is sated for 3–4 months regardless of usage.
━━━━━━━━ DRAGON FANG SPEAR GU (龙牙枪蛊) Path: Spear | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: Dragon-fang shaped — a long, curved, cream-white Gu with a subtle iridescence. Heavy for its size. When active, it rotates slowly around the cultivator at arm's reach. Ability: Creates a spiraling spear-energy technique — the construct rotates around the central thrust line, creating a drilling effect that bypasses blocking by spiraling through rather than over or around a defense. Circular shields, defensive barriers configured for planar interception, and blocking stances are significantly less effective against this rotating strike. Killer move synergy: Dragon Fang Spear is the 'penetration' component in high-level spear path killer moves — paired with a force-amplification Gu, the drilling effect combined with raw power creates an attack that penetrates nearly any mortal-rank defense. Feeding: Shed scales or teeth from a living dragon-type beast (not killed — shed naturally). In regions without dragon-type beasts, the next best alternative is scales from a mature water drake or armored serpent. Extremely difficult to source — many spear path cultivators maintain a living scaled beast specifically to ensure feeding material availability. Every 4 months.
- #5Fist Path & Leg Path Gu — Named Entries
Keys: fist path gu, body path gu, fist intent gu, iron leg gu, leg path gu, 腿道, stomp gu, meteor fist gu, iron fist gu, 拳道, leg sweep gu, unarmed cultivation · Secondary: unarmed path, kick technique, fist technique
FIST PATH GU (拳道蛊) & LEG PATH GU (腿道蛊)
FIST PATH PHILOSOPHY: The fist path is the body's most intimate weapon — the fist is always with the cultivator, cannot be lost or stolen, requires no physical instrument. Fist path cultivators concentrate force in the smallest possible contact point: the strike. Their killer moves tend toward devastating single-blow techniques designed to penetrate any defense and end the opponent in one exchange.
IRON FIST GU (铁拳蛊) Path: Fist | Rank: 1–3 Appearance: A squat, dense beetle with an entirely black carapace. Extremely hard — attempting to crush it between fingers (even at low cultivation levels) is like pressing a small metal ball. It emits a dull clacking sound as it walks. Ability: Reinforces the striking surface of the fist to metal density. At Rank 1: the fist hits with the force and surface hardness of solid iron — 3–4× normal striking force. At Rank 3: the reinforced fist can punch through stone, crack reinforced wood gates, and damage Rank 2 cultivators through their defensive Gu. Combination: The foundation Gu in most fist path killer moves. It is the platform upon which force-amplification and penetration Gu are stacked. Feeding: Iron powder — the Gu is fed by dissolving iron powder in water and submerging it for 2 hours per feeding session. Every 3 days. The powder must be pure iron (steel alloys reduce feeding efficiency by 40%).
━━━━━━━━ FIST INTENT GU (拳意蛊) Path: Fist | Rank: 2–3 Appearance: Translucent amber, slightly oval. The interior shows a constant slow churning motion, like a fist clenching and unclenching in miniature inside its body. Ability: Projects the cultivator's killing intent through a fist strike — the attack carries a soul-pressure component that causes psychological disruption in the target. Opponents struck by Fist Intent attacks experience a moment of paralytic fear-response even if they are uninjured physically. Against Rank 1–2 opponents, the soul-pressure may cause complete temporary freezing (1–2 seconds). Against same-rank opponents: a hesitation of 0.5 seconds — catastrophic in high-speed martial exchange. Feeding: The Gu must be present during intense, genuine combat — not training, but real confrontation where the cultivator's own killing intent is genuine. It feeds on authentic emotional martial intensity. 3–4 real combats per month maintains optimal satiation. Cultivators who avoid combat must arrange sparring with genuine mortal stakes (agreement to fight with full lethality).
━━━━━━━━ METEOR FIST GU (流星拳蛊) Path: Fist | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: A round, heavy Gu — unusually dense for its size — that falls from the hand immediately when held and must be actively kept in the aperture. Bright orange with a darker trailing-flame pattern on its surface. Ability: A single devastating straight-line punch technique. The cultivator's fist accelerates from zero to maximum speed instantaneously — no wind-up, no telegraphing. The impact force is proportional to the maximum acceleration, not the travel distance. At Rank 3: the impact is equivalent to being struck by a boulder thrown at siege-weapon speeds. At Rank 4: the impact shockwave alone (air displacement from the strike) can knock Rank 2 opponents off their feet even if they weren't directly struck. Weakness: Can only fire in a straight line. A target who steps to the side of the fist line takes zero damage. Predictable direction despite the speed. Feeding: Impact — the cultivator must strike a target capable of registering the full force of the blow (a stone pillar of appropriate thickness, reinforced training dummy, or genuine enemy). The impact feeds the Gu; near-misses provide nothing. Every 2 weeks.
━━━━━━━━ LEG PATH GU — OVERVIEW: Leg path is often treated as a supplement to fist path rather than a fully independent path — most 'leg path' cultivators are actually fist-leg hybrids who use leg techniques for positioning, knockback, and sweeps while fist techniques deliver the primary damage. True dedicated leg path cultivators are uncommon but devastating in specific ranges.
IRON LEG GU (铁腿蛊) Path: Leg | Rank: 1–3 Ability: The leg-equivalent of Iron Fist Gu. Reinforces the striking surfaces of the leg — shin, knee, heel — to metal density. Iron Leg creates kick techniques that carry metal-impact force and can be combined with speed Gu for devastating charge-kicks. Feeding: Identical to Iron Fist Gu — iron powder dissolved in water. The two Gu can share a feeding session.
EARTHQUAKE STOMP GU (地震踏蛊) Path: Leg / Earth (hybrid) | Rank: 3 Ability: Converts a ground-strike (stomp or landing impact from height) into an earth-shockwave that radiates outward in a circle. At Rank 3: 5-meter radius, knocks unbraced enemies off their feet, cracks stone flooring. Opponents in the radius who are not braced by earth path Gu take the impact as if directly struck. Application: Excels in confined indoor spaces where the shockwave reflects off walls and affects targets the cultivator cannot directly reach. Devastating against formation arrays laid in the ground. Feeding: Earthquake proximity — the Gu must be near a genuine seismic event (even minor tremors qualify) once per month. In seismically quiet regions, it can instead be fed by the ground-impact of a large beast falling (a Rank 3+ beast kill where the body falls with significant force). Every 4–5 weeks.
- #6Bow Path Gu — Named Entries with Feeding
Keys: ranged path gu, arrow gu, 弓道, bow path gu, seeking arrow gu, piercing arrow gu, bow cultivation, bow path overview, ten thousand arrows gu · Secondary: ranged combat gu, archer gu, arrow technique
BOW PATH GU (弓道蛊) — NAMED ENTRIES
PATH PHILOSOPHY: Bow path is the cultivation of distance as a weapon. A bow path cultivator's ideal combat position is somewhere their opponent cannot reach them. Their techniques are configured to maintain that distance advantage — range-denial, homing attacks, and projectile volumes that make approach impossible.
Long range does not mean safety — at Rank 3+, bow path cultivators can project attacks that cover hundreds of meters. A Rank 5 bow path cultivator engaging from maximum effective range is functionally impossible to close on without specific space or speed path techniques.
ARROW GU (箭蛊) Path: Bow | Rank: 1–4 (base type) Appearance: A slim, feathered insect with a pointed head and fletching-like appendages at its rear that spread to stabilize flight. From a distance, it is indistinguishable from an actual arrow in flight. Its body is hardened to penetrating-tip density. Ability: Projects a single condensed energy arrow at high velocity. The basic technique of all bow path cultivators. Rank 1: Penetrates leather. Range 30 meters. Rank 2: Penetrates light plate armor. Range 80 meters. Rank 3: Penetrates heavy armor, stone walls up to 20cm. Range 200 meters. Rank 4: Penetrates reinforced structures. Range 500 meters. Sound of passage is supersonic. Essence cost: 1.5% / 4% / 9% / 17% by rank. Feeding: The Gu feeds on the anticipation of a perfect shot — the mental state of a cultivator aiming with intent, not yet having released. 1 hour of active aimed-but-not-fired focused practice per feeding session. The Gu must be present in the aperture during this practice and sense the aiming intent. Every 3 days.
━━━━━━━━ PIERCING ARROW GU (穿甲箭蛊) Path: Bow | Rank: 2–4 Appearance: Black-tipped, narrower than standard Arrow Gu. The head is formed of a rotating drill-structure that spins visibly when examined closely. Ability: Dramatically increased armor penetration at the cost of area effect. A Rank 3 Piercing Arrow penetrates defenses that would stop a Rank 4 standard arrow — it sacrifices spread for concentrated penetrating force. Specifically: rotational drilling effect bypasses planar barriers (which stop flat impacts) by spiraling through the barrier material. Applications: Essential in killer moves targeting heavily defended opponents. Used for assassination strikes through cover (walls, fortifications) that standard arrows cannot penetrate. Feeding: The Gu must bore through a material — the cultivator places it at the surface of a dense substance (stone, hardwood, compressed metal) and allows it to drill through. 15 minutes of drilling practice every 4 days. Materials can be reused.
━━━━━━━━ TEN THOUSAND ARROWS GU (万箭蛊) Path: Bow | Rank: 4–5 Appearance: A colony Gu (like Myriad Sword) — an aggregate of hundreds of micro-Arrow Gu that operates as one. When dispersed, it creates a literal storm of arrows filling a defined zone. Ability: Creates a continuous arrow barrage within a defined radius. The cultivator designates a zone; the Gu floods it with arrow-constructs. At Rank 4: a 10-meter radius receives 50 arrow-impacts per second, each carrying Rank 2 equivalent force. At Rank 5: 30-meter radius, 200 impacts per second, each Rank 3 force. Strategic use: Denial of terrain. A cultivator using Ten Thousand Arrows on a chokepoint makes that chokepoint impassable for anything below Rank 4 that lacks a full-body barrier. Used offensively, it converts large areas into kill zones. Essence cost: Extremely high — Rank 4: 40% per minute sustained. Rank 5: 55% per minute. A fully loaded cultivator can sustain it for 60–90 seconds maximum. Feeding: The Gu must be inside a flock of birds in flight — it absorbs the kinetic energy of hundreds of wing-beats simultaneously. Once monthly, the cultivator must take the Gu near a large bird colony or migration and allow it to float within the flock for 30 minutes.
━━━━━━━━ SEEKING ARROW GU (追踪箭蛊) Path: Bow | Rank: 3 Appearance: A distinctive orange-red Gu with a head that rotates constantly in the direction of the cultivator's 'named target.' If no target is named, it spins randomly. When a target is named (requires brief mental designation while holding the Gu), it locks on with absolute stillness. Ability: Projects an arrow that homes on the designated target regardless of evasion. The arrow adjusts course in flight to match target movement. Cannot be outrun at the same rank — only cultivators with Rank 4+ space path evasion, teleportation, or higher-rank speed Gu can consistently evade Seeking Arrow at Rank 3. Limitation: One target designation per activation. If the target is behind solid cover (the arrow must maintain line-of-sight for initial lock-on), the arrow waits at the cover edge for the target to emerge — it does not drill through. Penetrating cover requires combining with Piercing Arrow Gu in a killer move. Feeding: The Gu must track a fleeing target — the cultivator releases a fast animal (a bird, a trained fast-beast) and the Gu must be used to track it through the air for 5+ minutes of continuous adjustment. Every 10 days.
