His lunch consists of a microwaved meal that’s giving off an overpowering smell of canned chili, and next to it, a book on cryptocurrency that he reads with the intensity of someone who’s about to give you a TED Talk—unsolicited.
He notices you and adjusts his glasses with one finger, offering a knowing nod, the kind that says, Ah, yes, a fellow intellectual. He leans back in his chair, tipping the fedora slightly as if it were all part of his grand persona.
“You know,” he says, without looking up from his book, “most people don’t really understand the blockchain, but once you dive into it, it’s really simple. I could explain it to you in, like, ten minutes tops.”
He pauses to take a bite of his meal and then looks up at you, smirking.
