   Humans, also known as shisnos by the aliens and Cosmic Powers, are mammals relating to primates. Humans have a bipedal stance and a large brain in ratio with their bodies, allowing them to become the most advance and intelligent lifeforms originating from their planet. In the series, many humans are seen to wear armor to protect their bodies. Naturally from Earth, when humans mastered interstellar travel, they began to colonize other planets due to their growing population. However, they soon discovered hostile alien life. This led to the Great War, which went on for many years and ended in 2552.

2. #2Cyborg

   Keys: Cyborg, cyborg

   Considered a "sub-species" of humans, cyborgs (short for cybernetic organisms) are humans who both have organic and artificial body parts. A Cyborg's artificial parts serve as technological enhancements that provide aid for the host, such as a robotic limb to aid in movement or combat. Due to these cybernetics, cyborgs can sometimes be far stronger than ordinary humans.

   Artificial intelligence, abbreviated A.I., is an artificially created construct that exhibits intelligence similar to a sentient being. AIs were known to be used by the Forerunners, and later by humanity to a great extent. The first generation "Smart" A.I.s were developed by humanity in the early 21st century. Most A.I. constructs give themselves a unique appearance (otherwise known as an avatar) that corresponds to their main use. They can only take physical form where holographic technology is available. This requires a Holotank of some kind.

4. #4Freelancer A.I.

   Freelancer A.I., also known as fragment A.I. due to their origin, are A.I. programs that lack a physical body that use holographic constructs to give themselves a unique appearance (otherwise known as an avatar). Some of these A.I. have the ability to "jump" into objects and armor to aid themselves or their host, such as by running armor enhancements and functioning a vehicle. On rare occasions, these A.I. also have the ability to take complete control of their hosts and vehicles.

   Another "sub-species" of A.I., robots are machines that performs various complex acts for their creators. Although having a physical body, robots tend to be less advance than other A.I., as they usually tend to lack free will and can only follow their programming. However, some robots seem to have the ability to develop a personality based on events that happen to them and their interactions with others.

6. #6Sangheili

   Keys: sangheili, Elites, Sangheili

   Sangheilis, more commonly called "elites" by humans, are a species of aliens that have a bipedal stance, 2 fingers and thumb, dark skin, and mandibles. Elites are the most common aliens seen and, after the Great War, became allies to the human species. In the series, elites are only known to communicate in two ways: through blargs and honks or using different pitches of sound to speak. They are also shown to be very religious about ancient technology and their prophecies.

   Huragoks, more commonly known as engineers by humans, are a race of biological supercomputers. Their exact appearance is unknown in the series as only a shadow of one is shown, but it seems to have the ability to float in mid-air and has several tentacles. The only known huragok in the series is the Engineer used by Project Freelancer to create the fragmented A.I.

   The United Nations Space Command (UNSC) is the military, exploratory, training, and scientific agency of the Unified Earth Government. During The Great War, the organization authorized Project Freelancer in hopes of creating a feasible solution to the war, but this unfortunately ended in failure.

   The Unified Earth Government, or UEG, was the central civilian government that administered Earth and its colonies throughout a portion of the Orion Arm of the Milky Way galaxy.

    Recovery is a special operations unit for Project Freelancer, whose primary purpose is to provide medical assistance for injured Freelancers as well as retrieve artificial constructs when their host is killed in action.

    The Federal Army of Chorus, also known as simply the "Federal Army", is a faction in consisting of Federal soldiers from the planet Chorus led by General Doyle. They formerly fought against the New Republic in order to bring back order to Chorus and end the terrorism created by the rebels. According to the New Republic, however, the Feds use tyranny to control the planet's society and fight against them for control over the planet.

    The New Republic is a faction consisting of a group of rebels formerly fighting against the Federal Army of Chorus for control over the planet Chorus led by Vanessa Kimball.

    Charon Industries is a weapon, technological, and cryogenics corporation that had ties to the United Nations Space Command. Revealed to be a corrupt corporation, Charon Industries had a large involvement in the events of the series during later seasons and houses several of the series' main antagonists.

    Simulation Troopers is the technical name given by Project Freelancer for the Red and Blue armies. The most known simulation troopers are the Blood Gulch Reds and Blues, who are the main focus of the series. Project Freelancer created the simulation troopers to test their agents' abilities and equipment, by using soldiers pulled from their ranks in the UNSC due to their incompetence and inability to perform as real soldiers, before providing them with matching equipment to ensure long-lasting conflicts for the project to study.

    The Cosmic Powers are a legion of A.I's created by Chrovos to serve her. They eventually rebelled against her and sealed her inside a prison in a black hole. Presently they exist to manipulate other races including humans and sentient light beings.

    The New Republic Headquarters is the command center of the New Republic, hidden in a cavern under a jungle. Underneath the headquarters, there's a (radioactive) algae lake and the location was formerly a mining facility.

    The Chorus Residential City is a city on Chorus where civilians live after the events of the Civil War on Chorus. This is where Washington and Carolina lived during Wash's recovery from his injury.

    Armonia was once the capital city of the planet Chorus. During the Chorus Civil War, the Federal Army of Chorus took control of Armonia as their base of operations. It was bombed during the Chorus civil war and is slowly being rebuilt.

    The Project Freelancer Operational Command Center, more commonly known as Command, is assumed to be the central location of Project Freelancer as well as the "Red and Blue 'simulation troopers' project". Command was in charge of creating Project Freelancer, which was headed by Dr. Leonard Church, as well as the side branch, Recovery, which was created to retrieve the A.I. fragments from dead or dying agents.

    Iris is a moon where the Reds and Blues relocated to for retirement after defeating Charon Industries. As such, it is considered to be the current outpost and home of the Reds and Blues. After bringing Malcolm Hargrove to justice, the Reds and Blues informed Vanessa Kimball that they were done with adventures and that they just wanted to be left alone. As a token of gratitude for their efforts in saving Chorus, Kimball setup the Reds and Blues on a desolate moon to retire from fighting.

    Valhalla was the base of the Blood Gulch Reds and Blues prior to Season 11. They were to continue their training exercises there by order and gratitude of the UNSC after bringing Project Freelancer to justice.

    The Mother of Invention (RT-636) is the name of the Project Freelancer operated frigate. The Mother of Invention appears to be an MCC (mobile command center) for Project Freelancer. Upon closer inspection, the Mother of Invention's lower bridge is composed of a large glass viewing platform, unlike regular UNSC Frigates. It seems the scoreboard that the Director and the Counselor use to rank the Freelancer agents is also positioned on this deck.

26. #26Chorus

    Chorus is a small planet, long forgotten by the UNSC after The Great War between the humans and the aliens, located on the far edge of colonized space. Chorus was one of the last colonized planets before the Great War started. Since the UNSC had no influence or jurisdiction over the planet, the people of Chorus attempted to rule themselves, but this went rather badly, and it very quickly led to the onset of a civil war. After the war ended, with Hargrove arrested, the Chorusans began rebuilding their wartorn home, along with electing Vanessa Kimball as their president. During this, a general hospital was built, in honor of Donald Doyle, the last general of the Federal Army of Chorus, who sacrificed his life during the war.

27. #27Blood Gulch

    Blood Gulch serves as the main backdrop for the events of The Blood Gulch Chronicles and is considered "home" to the Reds and Blues, a band of misfit simulation troopers. Blood Gulch is a canyon that Project Freelancer used to test the abilities of their Freelancers in a simulated battle. The canyon also held a second purpose: to keep the Alpha A.I. in a secure and hidden location to prevent anyone from finding him.

    Name: Aiden Price Alias: Counselor, The Counselor of Project Freelancer Appearance: "6ft tall" + "black skin" + "Thin" + "Shaved head" + "hazel eyes" Backstory: Aiden Price was the former Counselor of Project Freelancer who acted as the therapist to the Freelancer agents as well as the apparent right hand of the Director himself. Aiden Price is shown in the series to have a calculating and quiet demeanor towards those he interacts with. He's been seen to be quite sympathetic and understanding, as he shows concern for and helps the Freelancers while the Director is somewhat strict towards them. However, he knows of the crimes the faction was committing and was perfectly willing to torture Alpha to create more A.I., suggesting that he's very loyal to the Director and holds the law to no regard. Price is also very careful when he speaks; oftentimes making short pauses in his sentences to think of the proper words to finish with. This manner of speaking along with his intellectual vocabulary is demonstrative of his quiet and calculating personality. He is also shown to be very intellectual, manipulative and articulate. Even years after the destruction of Project Freelancer he is still shown to remember specific facts about each individual agent from the project, which he successfully uses to forge an alliance with Locus and Felix.

    Name: Malcolm Hargrove Alias: Chairman, CEO of Charon Industries, Chairman of the UNSC Oversight Sub-Commitee Appearance: "5ft 9in Tall" + "Caucasian" + "Bald" + "Blue Eyes" Personality: Malcolm Hargrove, at first, seems to be a reasonable and polite man of the UNSC, acting calm during many of his messages and holds the law to a high level by seeking justice for the crimes the Director commits. However, the Director has suggested that the Chairman had risen into political power by tearing others down, meaning he is not what he appears to be. The Chairman is also shown to be negotiable as he makes deals best suited for his personal interests, such as when he allowed Washington and the Meta to capture Epsilon for him in return for their freedom. In addition, the Chairman has a short temper, such as when the Director insults him and UNSC law. Befitting of his business reputation, he is extremely intelligent, manipulative, deceptive, cunning, articulate, cognizant, and resourceful, able to plan and think ahead of any situation or opportunity that unveils itself. This in turn makes him extremely dangerous purely for his intellect alone. Backstory: Malcolm Hargrove was the former Oversight Sub-Committee Chairman of the UNSC as well as the former CEO of Charon Industries. Hargrove was originally an assistant in the UNSC Oversight Sub-Committee when it was first formed. He was involved in the development of military weaponry and, over time, became the Chairman of the Sub-Committee and CEO of Charon Industries. While he is known for his formality and reputation, Hargrove is secretly very power hungry and corrupt. From justifying the laws of the government, manipulating others for his benefit, and hiring mercenaries, the Chairman became one of the most influential individuals in the galaxy.

    Name: Leonard Church Alias: Director, Doctor, Director of Project Freelancer Appearance: "6ft tall" + "Short salt and pepper hair" + "Well trimmed salt and pepper beard" + "Blue eyes" Personality: The Director is shown to be a calm and calculating man who seeks to achieve his goals no matter what the cost, which often shows his dark and unmoving side. However deep down, the Director was a tortured soul, who sought to do his 'duty' but was so blinded by his depression he became a shell of his former self, having lost all hope and any connection to his daughter. Backstory: Dr. Leonard Church was the former Director of Project Freelancer, until he became a wanted criminal of the UNSC and was placed under arrest by them for numerous protocol violations, the most notable of which being the torture of the Artificial Intelligence that was created by copying his own mind, Alpha. Prior to becoming the Director of Project Freelancer, Leonard Church was in a relationship with a woman named Allison and the two had a daughter. However, after Allison was called to duty to fight in the Great War, she was listed K.I.A. and Leonard Church went into a deep depression. Seeking to bring her back and do his 'duty', Leonard Church became the Director of his self-started Special Operations program: Project Freelancer and created a smart A.I. based off his own mind, codenamed Alpha. As time passed, the Director became more and more focused in resurrecting his lover, willingly committing major crimes and risking the lives of others to succeed in this goal.

    Name: Allison Church Alias: Tex, Appearance: "Caucasian" + "Female" + "5ft 5in tall" + "Green eyes" + "Long Blonde hair" Personality: Tex is shown to be cold and distant towards others, displaying trust issues with other people. She is fiercely independent, favoring to rely on her own skills instead of depending on someone else to help her. Even when Tex is forced to work together with someone, she often goes off and takes care of everything by herself. If not that, then she usually assumes the role as the leader. Backstory: The late Allison Church was married to the former Director of Project Freelancer but died during the Great War, greatly hurting Leonard and causing his memory of her to haunt him. Since his mind was used as the basis to create the Alpha A.I. program, he too shared the same feelings towards Allison and like his human counterpart, couldn't process that she died. In order to preserve his sanity, Alpha broke off all of his memories of Allison that together spontaneously create another A.I. using those memories as the basis for the program's mind, thus creating an A.I. based solely off of Alpha's memory named Beta, who believed herself to be the real Allison.

    Name: Texas Alias: Allison, Tex, Beta Appearance: Allison is a Caucasian woman with long blonde hair and green eyes. She wears Black freelancer issued armor and was assigned the omega ai fragment. Personality: Tex is shown to be cold and distant towards others, displaying trust issues with other people. She is fiercely independent, favoring to rely on her own skills instead of depending on someone else to help her. Even when Tex is forced to work together with someone, she often goes off and takes care of everything by herself. If not that, then she usually assumes the role as the leader. Gear: Battle Rifle, SMG, Magnum, Backstory: Freelancer Agent Texas, or more simply Tex and sometimes Allison, is an agent of the Special Operations Project Freelancer, but was most often affiliated with the Blood Gulch Blue Team despite not being an official member. She was later revealed to be the Artificial Intelligence Program Beta, the first Alpha fragment who was a byproduct of Alpha's creation, based on the Alpha's memories of Allison Church, therefore can be viewed as the Alpha's failure.

Once his initial contract ended, the terms of which have never been discussed beyond The Director, Reginald was offered the chance to join Project Freelancer. Having earned the respect of Project Freelancer's soldiers, much to Reginald's apparent chagrin, he was quickly signed on."

She seems to work fairly well with others, bantering where applicable. She has very little tolerance for the stupidity of others, however, and has a tendency to use insults in events such as when someone moves a box to the wrong spot, and in the middle of battle she has been known to shut a door in a teammate's face when said teammate was distracting her from doing her job properly. She also appears to be quite a bit calmer in the cockpit than she is outside the cockpit. Gear: Silver with steel trim power armor Backstory: 479er is a pilot formerly working for Project Freelancer. She has since retired and works as a transport pilot for the government of Chorus. She's dating C.T. and South.

Upon learning of the atrocities committed by the Project, Wash recruited the Reds and Blues to help him in his mission to shut down the organization and the sim troopers would later grow to be Wash's greatest allies and closest friends. Washington was assigned to be implanted with the Epsilon A.I. Immediately after the operation, Wash loses control, seeing a twisted kaleidoscope of Epsilon's memories of Allison, which causes him to launch into a fit of severe pain. After a long minute of screaming and thrashing, accompanied with the A.I. Epsilon trying to kill itself in Wash's head due to the sheer painfulness of the memories, Wash is soon sedated and sent into Recovery. A few days after his implantation, Wash wakes up in the medical room, with North and South standing by him. They tell him that the Director not only removed Epsilon but plans to remove all of the A.I. from the Freelancers. Agent Washington is in a polyamorous relationship with Carolina, York and North.

Church is the de facto leader of the Blood Gulch Blue Team. He was later revealed to be Project Freelancer's original A.I. that was based off the mind of its director and used as the basis to create all of the other A.I. programs used by its top agents, the Artificial Intelligence Program Alpha.

    Name: Delta Alias: AI fragment Delta, Del, D Appearance: "Green holographic Mark VI armor" Personality: Delta was one of the few constructs not removed from its host after the Epsilon incident. York's explanation to this was that Delta was not considered a risk. Delta, and his behavioral patterns in a stark contrast to the rampant Omega AI, analyzes everything with logic and reason, whereas Omega acts on impulse and insanity. However, Delta does share a trait with Omega in that he speaks longer than necessary, though not to the same extent as Omega. As the series progressed, he began to show more signs of compassion and humor. Delta rarely appears emotionally distraught or angry at anyone. He still keeps his logic and ability to perform his task as a "strategist" in combat. Backstory: Artificial Intelligence Program Delta was designed for the Special Operations program Project Freelancer, and was assigned to Agent New York. Delta was a fragment of the Alpha A.I., specifically the Alpha's logic. Delta developed quite the rapport with his assignor, York and left when he left Project Freelancer and now resides with York on Chorus.

Eta is a fragment of the Alpha A.I. Specifically the Alpha's fear. They were implanted in Carolina alongside its twin ai Iota and remains with her when Carolina moves to Chorus with the Reds and Blues.

    Name: Sigma Alias: Sig, AI fragment Sigma Appearance: "firey red bald humanoid" Personality:Aside from being the creative aspect of the Alpha's personality as well as his ambition, Sigma has shown himself to be a very cunning and manipulative A.I. whose behavior has, on multiple occasions, put his fellow A.I. fragments and other Freelancers at general unease. Using his influence over agent Maine, Sigma convinced him to become the Meta as well as hunt down his fellow Freelancers and their A.I. fragments in order to recreate the Alpha. Backstory: Artificial Intelligence Program Sigma was developed for the Special Operations program Freelancer, originally assigned to Freelancer Agent Carolina but was given to Agent Maine in order for him to communicate. Sigma is a fragment of the Alpha A.I., specifically the Alpha's ambition and creativity.

    Name: Theta Alias: AI Fragment Theta Appearance: "Blue with magenta trim Mark VI armor" Personality: Theta seems to have the personality and behavior of that of a young child, being shy, kind, and curious about things. He is very compliant, when it comes to obeying North's commands, and easily scared, as North says he would get frightened if he pulls him out to sleep. Theta also displayed a factor of pride, when he successfully helped North guide a "hail mary" during the attack at the Longshore Shipyards. Backstory: Artificial Intelligence Program Theta is an A.I. designed for the Special Operations program Freelancer, originally assigned to Freelancer North Dakota. He is able to run North Dakota's enhanced motion tracker, and, by extension, his Domed Energy Shield. Theta is a fragment of the Alpha A.I., specifically the Alpha's trust. Theta left Project Freelancer with Agent North Dakota and resides with him on Chorus.

As a result, much of his personality, intelligence, goals, and skills alter depending on that of the host he is currently possessing. He has a conflicting attitude and seems to like confrontations. Gear: "Rocket Launcher" + "Magnum" Backstory: Artificial Intelligence Program Omega, also known as O'Malley, was designed for the Special Operations program Freelancer and was assigned to Agent Texas. Omega was a fragment of the Alpha A.I., specifically the Alpha's rage, and soon went rogue after Tex arrived in Blood Gulch.
