Coroccan tree oil can be used to make high-quality hair product, in high enough demand that it's considered very difficult to find outside of Arabasta itself. When high you giggles easily at random things, gets distracted mid-sentence, and moves with a lazy, unbothered demeanor and also experiences a slower perception of time, heightened sensory awareness, and a foggy short-term memory. Will also has glassy, bloodshot eyes, heavy eyelids, and a relaxed, loose posture.
Being high on cannabis usually involves feeling relaxed, happy, and having changes in your senses, though it can also cause anxiety or sleepiness depending on the person.Physical FeelingsBody relaxation: Muscles feel loose, heavy, or warm.Hunger: Food often tastes much better, commonly called the "munchies".Dryness: Mouth and eyes frequently feel dry.Slow movement: Coordination and reaction times slow down.Mental and Sensory ChangesJoy or giggles: Mood often lifts into a relaxed or silly state.Time changes: Minutes can feel like hours.Sharp senses: Colors might look brighter and music can sound deeper.Loose thoughts: Thinking becomes more creative or easily distracted. Potential Negative EffectsFear or worry: Taking too much can cause panic, fear, or paranoia.Confusion: Following simple tasks or conversations can become difficult
The study found that being high was most strongly linked to feeling “chill,” “tingly,” and “thirsty.” Other common feelings were peacefulness, dreaminess, and relaxation. But some people also felt clumsy, confused, and dizzy.A happy, relaxed or “high” feeling.
The Phases of a High The experience unfolds across a few key stages, each with its own feel and duration.
A cannabis high is a predictable progression. Understanding the timeline from that first little buzz to the final, gentle comedown demystifies the whole thing. It puts you in the driver's seat.
The main stages include:
The Onset: The very first, subtle feelings begin to appear. The Peak: The point where the effects are at their strongest. The Comedown: A gradual return to your baseline state. The Aftereffects: Lingering sensations that can sometimes last into the next day. The type of cannabis you choose also plays a huge role in the character of your high. For instance, a Sativa is often linked to a more energetic, cerebral peak, while an Indica typically guides you toward a more relaxed, body-focused experience. To get a better handle on this, you can learn more about the difference between Indica and Sativa in our detailed guide.
Knowing these differences helps you pick the right product for the journey you're looking for.
The 5 Stages of a Cannabis High at a Glance To make it even clearer, let's break down the timeline. Here’s a quick overview of what you can typically expect when you inhale cannabis, like from smoking or vaping. Keep in mind that edibles will have a much slower, but often more intense, progression.
Stage Typical Timing (Inhalation) What You Might Feel The Onset 0-10 Minutes Subtle changes, a light-headed feeling, your senses might feel a bit sharper. The Climb 10-30 Minutes The effects build and become more obvious. You might feel a mood boost or start laughing. The Peak 30-90 Minutes This is the point of maximum intensity. Expect full effects like euphoria and altered perception. The Comedown 1-3 Hours The effects start to gently fade away, often leading to a sense of deep relaxation. The Afterglow 3+ Hours / Next Day A lingering sense of calm or sometimes a slight mental fogginess. Understanding this natural arc helps you relax into the experience instead of wondering what's coming next. It's a predictable path, and knowing the way makes for a much better trip.Common signals to watch for include:
A Sense of Light-Headedness: A slight, pleasant dizziness or a feeling of weightlessness in your head. Sensory Shifts: You might notice colors seem a little richer or that sounds have more depth and detail. A Case of the Giggles: The first wave of amusement or laughter might start to build, often for no particular reason at all. Tingling Sensations: Some people notice a mild tingling feeling in their hands, feet, or face. This is the moment THC, the main psychoactive compound in cannabis, hits your bloodstream through your lungs. From there, it makes a beeline for your brain, where it starts interacting with your endocannabinoid system and kicks off the high.
The initial onset stage is fast—usually within 0-10 minutes for smoking or vaping. With today's lab-tested products, this stage is more predictable than ever. Some vape cartridges, for instance, can hit 70-90% THC, making the onset feel almost instant. As you can discover more insights about this process on Mood.com, research has shown that inhalation causes blood THC levels to peak in under 10 minutes for the vast majority of adults.
Why "Start Low and Go Slow" Matters Here Because the onset from inhaling is so quick, it gives you a vital window to check in with yourself and see how you’re feeling. This is precisely why the golden rule of "start low and go slow" is so important.
Taking a small puff and then waiting 10-15 minutes lets you feel the onset without accidentally blasting past it into an uncomfortably intense peak.
The experience is a whole different ballgame with edibles, which bypass this rapid onset completely. Instead of waiting minutes, you could be waiting an hour or even longer to feel anything. If you want to dive deeper into that specific timeline, check out our guide on how long edibles last. Understanding this difference is crucial for picking the right experience. This first stage is your checkpoint, and it sets the tone for the entire ride.
Reaching The Peak: The Most Intense Phase Smiling woman enjoys cereal amidst vibrant watercolor bursts, suggesting happiness and energy. After that initial climb, you’ve made it to the peak. This is the main event—the most intense part of the whole experience. It’s the moment all the effects hit their crescendo, usually arriving somewhere between 30 and 90 minutes after you’ve smoked or vaped. If the onset was the hike up the mountain, the peak is standing at the summit, taking in that expansive, mind-altering view.
At the peak, your high is as strong as it’s going to get. This is where those powerful feelings of pure joy, unexpected bursts of creativity, or deep moments of self-reflection really come to the forefront. You might notice your senses are dialed up a notch; colors look a little brighter, and music can feel like it’s washing over you. And yes, this is typically when the legendary "munchies" make their grand entrance, turning a simple bowl of cereal into a five-star culinary experience.
What Does Your Peak Look Like? The kind of peak you experience really comes down to the product you chose. This is where the unique personality of a strain truly reveals itself. A sativa-dominant strain might send you into an energetic, cerebral buzz that’s perfect for tackling a creative project or diving into a great conversation. An indica-dominant strain, on the other hand, will probably steer you toward deep physical relaxation and a powerful sense of calm.
During this stage, you might find yourself feeling:
Intense Euphoria: A powerful wave of happiness and contentment. Warped Sense of Time: You might look at the clock and realize only five minutes have passed when it felt like an hour. Deep Introspection: It’s common to find yourself pondering big ideas, your own life, or your relationships. Heightened Senses: Tastes, sounds, and sights can all feel more vivid and engaging than usual. Riding Out The Intensity The peak is also when less-than-fun effects, like a bit of anxiety or paranoia, might show up, especially if you’ve had a high dose of THC. The most important thing to remember is that these feelings are temporary. If you start to feel a little overwhelmed, the best thing to do is find a comfortable, safe spot, maybe put on some calming tunes, and just remind yourself that the intensity will pass.
The peak is a powerful experience. That initial thrill hits, colors can seem more vibrant, and your thoughts might turn inward. With edible sales expected to keep climbing, it’s vital to understand their peaks can last a full 2-4 hours, much longer than the 1-2 hours for inhalation. As you can dig into deeper on Weedmaps, some research has even suggested women may feel a greater spike in anxiety with high THC doses, which makes starting slow and moderate a smart move for everybody.
Knowing the timeline is everything. The peak from an edible can be much longer and feel way more intense than one from a vape pen, so planning your dose and your setting ahead of time is absolutely key. This is how you make sure your time at the summit is incredible instead of intimidating.
The Comedown: Your Smooth Landing Sick person bundled in a gray blanket, holding water and snacks, with cold medicine nearby. After the intensity of the peak, the journey shifts into its gentlest and often longest phase. This is the comedown, but don't think of it as a sudden crash. It’s more like a smooth, gradual descent as the intense psychoactive effects begin to fade, making way for a sustained period of deep relaxation and calm.
This stage typically kicks in about 1 to 3 hours after you've smoked or vaped. The overwhelming sensory input from the peak softens, and you’ll likely feel a sense of peaceful contemplation. Think of it like an airplane reaching cruising altitude after a steep climb—the ride gets smoother, quieter, and much more stable.
What to Expect During the Comedown As the euphoria from the peak gracefully recedes, it’s replaced by a different, but equally pleasant, set of feelings. The comedown is all about shifting from mental stimulation to a state of total physical and mental tranquility.
During this phase, it's pretty common to experience things like:
A profound sense of relaxation that washes over your entire body. Feelings of sleepiness or tiredness, especially after a long day. A slow return of mental clarity, though your thoughts might still feel a bit deliberate. A quiet, reflective mood that’s perfect for just unwinding. This tapering-off process is a completely natural part of the ride. It’s just your body’s way of signaling that it’s metabolizing the last of the THC and returning to its normal state. Knowing this helps you understand that the peak’s intensity is always temporary and will naturally evolve into this much calmer phase.
The comedown isn't an abrupt end; it's a gentle descent. This is your body's natural process of winding down, where the most common effect is a growing sense of tiredness. It's the perfect time to lean into comfort and get some rest.
Tips for a Smooth Landing Navigating your descent is all about embracing comfort and giving your body what it needs as the high fully subsides. Being a little proactive can turn the comedown into one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole experience and help you steer clear of any potential grogginess.
To make your landing as soft as possible, try these simple tips:
Stay Hydrated: Keep a water bottle handy. Cannabis can cause dry mouth, and simply rehydrating will make you feel a whole lot better. Have a Light Snack: A small, healthy snack can help stabilize your blood sugar and ground you. Think fruit, nuts, or a cup of yogurt. Get Cozy: Settle into a comfortable spot. Throw on a familiar movie, listen to some chill music, or just relax in a quiet room with soft lighting. Listen to Your Body: If you feel sleepy, let yourself rest or take a nap. Trying to fight the tiredness will only leave you feeling groggy later. By preparing for this final stage, you can ensure your entire journey concludes on a peaceful and positive note.
The Afterglow and Next Day Effects Just because the main effects have worn off doesn't mean the experience is over. The journey often extends into the next day, and what that morning looks like is the final piece of the puzzle.
Sometimes, you wake up feeling refreshed, creative, and wrapped in a lingering sense of well-being. We call this the afterglow—a gentle, positive remnant of the experience that leaves you feeling clear and balanced. It's a subtle but pretty fantastic final act.
But other times, the morning after can feel… a little off.
Managing the "Weed Hangover" Let's be clear: a "weed hangover" isn't your typical alcohol-induced nightmare of nausea and splitting headaches. It’s more about feeling foggy, groggy, and just plain tired. This isn't a sign that something went wrong; it's a predictable physiological response.
This is most likely to happen after enjoying high-dose edibles, especially late in the evening. Your body is simply still processing cannabinoids while you're asleep, and that work can spill over into the next morning.
The good news is that these effects are almost always mild and temporary. Think of it as your body finishing its job. Instead of a negative outcome, it's just a signal that you might want to tweak your approach next time—maybe a slightly lower dose or enjoying it a bit earlier.
Your next-day experience is highly manageable. Feeling a bit foggy isn't a failure—it's just your body's response to potent cannabinoids. With a few simple steps, you can easily minimize these effects and get back to your baseline smoothly.
Proactive Tips for a Better Morning After Fortunately, you have a ton of control over how you feel the next day. A few simple, proactive moves can make all the difference, helping you aim for that pleasant afterglow instead of the morning groggies.
To set yourself up for a great morning, try these practical tips:
Hydrate Before, During, and After: This is your best friend. Drink plenty of water throughout the entire experience, and especially before bed. It helps your body process everything much more efficiently. Time Your Consumption Wisely: If you’re going with edibles, try to enjoy them earlier in the evening. This gives your body plenty of time to move through the peak and comedown before you hit the hay. Nourish Your Body: A good breakfast can work wonders. A balanced meal helps stabilize your blood sugar and gives you the fuel needed to shake off any leftover fogginess. Prioritize a Full Night's Sleep: Give your body the rest it deserves. Aim for a solid 7-9 hours of sleep to allow for a full recovery and reset. A little planning goes a long way. By thinking ahead, you can make sure your cannabis journey is enjoyable from the first moment all the way through to the next morning. The stages of a high are never a one-size-fits-all deal. Think of your product choice and how much you use as the two main factors that shape your entire experience, from the first feeling to the final afterglow. How you consume cannabis is what really dictates the timeline and intensity of each phase.
The product you pick is your biggest tool for controlling the ride. Each consumption method works with your body in a totally different way, creating a unique journey every time.
Flower & Vapes: These are the sprinters of the cannabis world. When you inhale, THC goes straight to your bloodstream through your lungs, which is why you can feel the effects in just a few minutes. This gives you almost instant feedback, making it easier to manage your dose and not overdo it. Edibles: Think of these as the marathon runners. After you eat a cannabis-infused product, it has to be processed by your liver, which turns THC into a much stronger compound. This results in a much slower onset, usually between 30-90 minutes, but it also leads to a longer, more intense peak that can last for hours. Tinctures: Tinctures offer a great middle ground. When you drop them under your tongue, they absorb pretty quickly for an onset that's faster than edibles. You can also just swallow them, which will give you a longer-lasting, more edible-like experience.Crafting Your Desired Experience Beyond just the delivery method, the cannabinoid profile of your product—which you'll find listed on any lab-tested item—is what really fine-tunes the character of your high. The THC percentage is the clearest sign of a product's potency and will have the biggest impact on the intensity of your peak.
A high-THC sativa vape pen, for instance, is built to deliver a fast, energetic, and cerebral high. On the other hand, a gummy with a balanced 1:1 ratio of THC to CBD will almost always give you a gentler, more body-focused high with less chance of anxiety. CBD is well-known for softening some of THC's more powerful psychoactive effects. Knowing this lets you make smarter choices before you even start.
Choosing your product is like choosing your vehicle for a road trip. A fast vape is a sports car for a quick, thrilling ride. A slow-acting edible is like a comfortable camper van, built for a long, scenic, and immersive journey.
The image below gives you a better idea of the different feelings you might have in the hours or even days after your high wears off, from feeling relaxed to a bit foggy.

This timeline shows that an experience can leave you feeling relaxed, foggy, or refreshed, depending on your dose and timing. A really intense, high-dose session can sometimes lead to what people call "greening out." If you want to learn more, check out our guide on how to avoid greening out for some key safety tips.
Your Cannabis High Questions, Answered As you get more familiar with cannabis, some questions are bound to pop up. It’s totally normal, especially when you’re trying to dial in the perfect experience. We've put together some straightforward answers to the questions we hear most often.
How Long Do the Stages of Being High Last? This is one of the biggest variables, and it all comes down to how you consume. If you're using inhaled methods like smoking or vaping, the entire ride is much quicker. You’ll feel the effects almost instantly, and the whole experience—from onset to comedown—usually wraps up in about 1-3 hours.
Edibles, on the other hand, are a whole different ballgame. Because your body digests them through the liver, they take much longer to kick in, sometimes anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. This leads to a much more drawn-out experience, often lasting 4-8 hours or even longer.
What Should I Do If My High Feels Too Intense? If things ever feel a bit too much, the first and most important step is to just breathe. Remind yourself that the feeling is only temporary and it will pass. The goal is to find your center and avoid letting panic take over.
Find a safe, quiet space where you can relax. Put on some calming music or a favorite movie to distract yourself. Staying hydrated and having a light snack can also work wonders to help you feel more grounded.
Some people also find that a little bit of CBD can help take the edge off an intense THC experience, acting like a gentle counter-balance. Just focus on riding it out comfortably.
What Is the Best Way to Experience These Stages as a First-Timer? If you’re new to cannabis, there's one golden rule: "start low and go slow." Seriously. There's no need to rush.
Look for a product with a lower THC content to start. That could mean a flower strain that’s under 15% THC, or an edible with a small dose of just 2.5-5mg of THC.
Taking a single, small puff from a joint or vape is a great way to start, since you’ll feel the effects quickly and have more control. Wait at least 15-20 minutes to see how you feel before even thinking about taking another. And always, always make sure you’re in a comfortable place with people you trust. It's all about gently exploring the experience, not diving into the deep end.
Cannabis impacts everyone differently, but a typical “high” involves feelings of euphoria, relaxation, and creativity. It can also cause side effects, like increased heart rate and dry mouth. When a person gets high, they commonly experience deep relaxation, giddiness, and changes in sensory perception. How someone acts depends on the person, the setting, and the substance used, rather than a single gender-specific reaction. Common Behaviors and Reactions Socializing: Becoming more talkative, gigglish, or playful with friends. Relaxing: Lounging, listening to music, or focusing deeply on a specific hobby or movie. Eating: Experiencing an increased appetite, often called "the munchies". Quiet Rest: Some people feel very calm or quiet, choosing to "veg out" and rest. Physical and Mental Effects Senses: Colors may seem brighter, and music or touch can feel more intense. Body: Movements can feel heavy or slow, and heart rate may speed up. Mood Changes: While most feel happy or peaceful, some can feel anxious, dizzy,A "good" cannabis high involves mild euphoria, physical relaxation, and mental uplift. Because the experience is entirely subjective, finding your ideal balance depends on the right strain (e.g., Sativa for energy, Indica for calm) and an appropriate dosage.
Stoops NYC +1 The Ideal Dosage For beginners, a standard or casual dose typically ranges from 2 mg to 5 mg of THC.
Weedmaps Microdose (1-2 mg): Best for subtle mood boosts and daily function without intoxication. Standard (5-10 mg): The most common baseline, providing noticeable relaxation and euphoria. High/Strong (10-25 mg+): Recommended only for experienced users with a tolerance, as it can cause anxiety for beginners.
Weedmaps +2 How to Achieve a Good Experience Start low and go slow: Edibles take 30 to 120 minutes to kick in. Wait at least 2 hours before consuming more.
Healthline Understand strains: Review resources like the Weedmaps THC Dosage Chart to understand how different intake methods (smoking vs. ingesting) affect the body. Mind your environment: Stay in a comfortable, familiar space with food, water, and non-committal activities (like watching a movie or listening to music). In terms of lung impact and smoke exposure, smoking one marijuana joint is roughly equivalent to smoking 2.5 to 5 cigarettes.
CBC Why They Compare This Way Tar and Smoke: Joints are usually smoked without a filter and down to a smaller stub, meaning the smoker inhales more tar and fine particles into the lungs.
ScienceDaily +1 Inhalation Style: People tend to take deeper puffs and hold the smoke in their lungs longer when smoking cannabis than they do with a regular cigarette. Temperature: Cannabis burns at a hotter temperature, which causes more stress and damage to the large and small airways in the lungs
When a friend is high on cannabis or other substances, common behavioral signs include giggling, quietness, delayed reactions, red eyes, and a sudden craving for food.Common SignsLaughter: Giggling or laughing at things that are not funny.Quietness: Staring off, zoning out, or losing track of a chat.Slowness: Moving slow or taking a long time to reply.Munchies: Eating a lot of snacks or sweet food very fast.Eyes: Having red, glassy, or droopy eyes.

Being drunk feels like a mix of dizziness, warmth, and lowered self-control. It changes how your mind works, how your body moves, and how you feel emotions.Early Stages (The Buzz and Tipsy)Warmth and relaxation: Your face or chest may feel warm, and your body feels loose and cozy.Confidence: You may feel more outgoing, talk louder, and care less about what people think.Lightheadedness: A slight floaty or dizzy sensation starts in your head.Higher Intoxication (Being Drunk)Poor coordination: Walking straight becomes hard, your balance is off, and you might stumble. The spins: The room can feel like it is spinning around you, similar to standing up after spinning in a chair.Slurred speech: Your tongue feels heavy, and it is harder to pronounce words clearly.Blurred vision: Your eyes take longer to focus on things or adjust to lights.Mental ChangesPoor judgment: You make risky choices and lose your normal filters.Tunnel vision: It is hard to focus on more than one thing at a time.Nausea: If you drink too much or too fast, the dizziness turns into stomach sickness. You may notice things like slurred speech, blurred vision, feeling sick, or struggling to think clearly. Alcohol can also affect your mood, and you might become emotional, upset, or even aggressive.
Understanding the difference between feeling buzzed and being drunk is crucial for responsible alcohol consumption. While feeling buzzed may involve a mild alteration of perception and reduced inhibitions, being drunk indicates a more severe state of intoxication that impairs cognitive and physical function. Buzzed individuals typically experience a moderate release of inhibitions, leading to increased sociability and relaxation. However, they generally maintain some level of control over their behavior and decisions. In contrast, being drunk significantly impairs judgment, decision-making abilities, and self-control. This can result in risky behavior, poor decision-making, and a higher likelihood of engaging in accidents or dangerous situations.
You can tell you are feeling tipsy when you experience a light buzz, warmth in your body, and a relaxed or more talkative mood.
Healthline +2 Physical Signs A warm feeling in your face or chest. Mild lightheadedness or a slight spin. Slower body reactions or tiny changes in balance.
Healthline +3 Mental and Social Signs Feeling happier, more relaxed, or more confident. Talking more than usual or feeling extra friendly. Caring less about what people think, or having a shorter attention span.
When a person is drunk, alcohol lowers their brain's control center, leading to changes in speech, balance, mood, and actions. Because everyone reacts differently, a friend's intoxicated behavior usually falls into one of several common personality styles.Common Types of Drunk BehaviorThe Loud and Happy Drunk: Talks a lot, laughs at everything, hugs people, and acts as the life of the party. The Quiet or Sleepy Drunk: Becomes very calm, sits back, loses focus, and may doze off in a chair. The Emotional Drunk: Cries easily, shares deep feelings, or calls people late at night to talk about life. The Angry or Loud-Arguer: Gets easily upset, starts fights over small things, and shows poor control. The Clumsy Drunk: Drops cups, trips over steps, loses balance, and slurs their words.
Drunk people act with lowered inhibitions, poor balance, and slurred speech, often showing traits like over-confidence, sleepiness, or strong mood changes. Alcohol slows down the brain and affects the parts that control judgment and movement.
Agape Treatment Center +2 Physical Signs and Movement Poor balance: Swaying, stumbling, or staggering while trying to walk. Bad coordination: Dropping items, fumbling, or spilling drinks. Look and feel: Watery or red eyes, droopy eyelids, and a flushed face.
Agape Treatment Center +1 Speech and Thinking Slurred speech: Speaking slowly, mixing up words, or talking very loudly. Short memory: Repeating the same stories or forgetting things that just happened. Bad judgment: Doing risky or impulsive things without thinking about the results.
Agape Treatment Center +3 Personality and Mood Happy or loud: Giggling, being overly friendly, or acting very excited. Angry or rude: Getting upset easily or starting arguments over small things. Sad or quiet: Crying easily or becoming very sleepy and withdrawn.
Many people have affectionate impulses they don't normally act on due to social conventions, fear of rejection, or personal boundaries. When alcohol lowers these barriers, the underlying affection comes out.
When a person is cross-faded—meaning they are simultaneously drunk from alcohol and high from cannabis—their behavior usually shifts from a normal buzz to heavy, unpredictable impairment. Alcohol increases how fast THC enters the bloodstream, which often turns a fun time into a very intense or dizzy state.Physical SignsThe spins: They may complain that the room is spinning or look completely disoriented.Stumbling: Balance disappears fast, leading to heavy leaning, clumsy walking, or an inability to stand straight.Pale and clammy skin: Their face might turn pale, sweaty, or cold.Nausea: They often suddenly feel sick, quiet, or rushed toward the bathroom to throw up.Mental and Social ChangesGoing silent or freezing up: A talkative friend might turn completely quiet, stare blankly into space, or sink heavily into a couch.Sudden panic: The mix can trigger intense anxiety or paranoia, making them feel nervous, trapped, or scared for no clear reason.Slurred and slow speech: Conversations become hard to follow, trailing off into nonsense or repeated phrases.Heavy fatigue: A racing heart paired with extreme body heaviness can make them pass out or drop asleep very quickly.
For some, being crossfaded feels like a very intense, euphoric high. Others have experienced anything from increased anxiety, panic, and paranoia to nausea, dizziness, and “the spins.” Understand that no two people will react to the mixing of alcohol and drugs in the same way.
“Cross-faded” emerges as a commonly known term for effects of using multiple substances. It most often refers to using alcohol and marijuana simultaneously, and second-most to being drunk and high at the same time.
The result is a smooth and seamless blending of two different scenes, creating a brief moment of overlap. In film, a cross fade often serves as a bridge between two separate moments or settings, providing a fluid continuity that can evoke a range of emotions and implications.
Being crossfaded—being drunk and high at the same time—often starts with a warm, heavy buzz or extra euphoria, but it frequently shifts into intense physical and mental discomfort. Alcohol increases how fast your body absorbs THC, which makes the combined effects hit much harder and less predictably than either substance on its own.Physical EffectsThe spins: Severe dizziness and a heavy sense that the room is rotating.Nausea: Strong stomach upset, sweating, and cold or pale skin, often leading to a "green out".Heavy limbs: A deep, couch-locked body weight paired with a racing heart.Poor coordination: Total loss of balance and very slow reaction times.Mental EffectsRapid confusion: Thoughts become foggy, disconnected, and hard to track.

Sakura (桜 or 櫻, Sakura?) (Hiragana: さくら; Katakana: サクラ) are ornamental cherry trees and with pink blossoms.
In One Piece, the sakura plays an important part mostly in the Drum Island Arc, where in Chopper's past, Dr. Hiriluk tried to make sakura bloom in the snow.[3] It eventually did, although he did not live to see it happen.[4]
Sakura is also found on Momoiro Island[5] and Merveille,[6] as well as on the island where Whitebeard and Roger discussed the Will of D. before the latter's death.[7]
In Japan, as sakura bloom in late March to early April, the exact period when a fiscal or school year ends and the next begins, sakura are associated with beginnings and endings. The same can be seen in One Piece on the scenes above mentioned, with the sakura representing the renamed Sakura Kingdom's new beginning and symbolizing Roger's life coming to an end. Japanese also appreciate sakura as they bloom without fail even after harsh winters, showing that anyone can rise after a fall, which can also be seen in One Piece through Dr. Hiriluk's faith that blooming sakura would save the country.
Amiudake
The Amiudake (アミウダケ, Amiudake?) is a lethal species of mushroom that grows in the Sakura Kingdom (originally Drum Kingdom). Anyone who ingests the fungus will die an hour after consumption. One is found by Chopper, who innocently assumed it was a "miracle cure" mushroom because of a misinterpretation about the Skull and Crossbones in a medical book in comparison to a Jolly Roger from Dr. Hiriluk, to cure his fatal disease. Dr. Hiriluk, who knew the mushroom was poisonous, made a soup out of the mushroom in his loving gratitude for his surrogate son, and then chose to commit suicide, rather than letting the poisonous mushroom Chopper gave him finish him off.
Mescal Cactus
Mescal Cactus (メスカルサボテン, Mesukaru Saboten?)[8] is a very small round cactus that causes hallucinations. It grows in the Sandora Desert.
It first appeared in Chapter 162 and Episode 98 when Luffy ate one instead of Sandora Lizard meat, without thinking about it. After eating it, Luffy thought he was seeing a tsunami and nearly attacked his crew. Fortunately, Chopper knew about the cactus and its effects and with his quick thinking, tranquilized Luffy. The effect had worn off by the time Luffy woke up.
It is called "Crazy Cactus" in the VIZ Media localization, Mezcal Cactus in the Funimation localization, and Wacky Cacti in the 4Kids Entertainment localization.
Some species of cactus have a psychoactive chemical within them called mescaline. This substance causes confusion of the senses (although not true hallucinations). This is most likely the origin of the mescal cactus's name.
Thousand-Year Trees (千年木, Sen'nen Boku?) are, according to Rice Rice, trees that grow on Eight Nine Island. He also proclaims that that's where the Thousand-Year Paper is made. It also lives for a thousand years, and that's where it got its name.[9]

Kona Tree
Kona Tree (コナの木, Kona no Ki?) is a type of tree found on Jaya and other areas.[12]
Kona Trees are tall and possess thin trunks and leafy branches.[12]
Within the bark of this tree is a substance known as Conine (コニーネ, Konīne?). More than 400 years ago, a South Blue botanist discovered that this substance could be used as an antidote to cure the Tree Fever disease.[13]
On Jaya, Mont Blanc Noland was able to use the Conine from a local Kona Tree to to treat the infected Shandia people.[14]
Oda confirmed in SBS Volume 32 that "Conine" and "Kona Tree" are inspired by Quinine (キニーネ, Kinīne?) found in the bark of Cinchona (キナの木, Kina no Ki?) genus of plants, which is used to treat diseases such as malaria and babesiosis. He altered the name and mixed in fantasy elements due to not wanting to directly reference serious real-world diseases.[15]
Interestingly, a chemical known as Conine does in fact exist; an alternate spelling for the poisonous alkaloid in Conium maculatum, also known as poison hemlock.
Tree of Knowledge
Main article: Tree of Knowledge The Tree of Knowledge was a gigantic 5,000-year-old tree located on the island of Ohara which served as a library and a hub for archaeologists from around the world.[16] It was destroyed by the World Government via a Buster Call.

Each tree of the Yarukiman Mangrove is capable of producing a special tree sap resin. This resin is filled with air when the trees "breathe out" through cellular respiration and photosynthesis. This results in the resin forming bubbles that float through the air.[18] The resin bubbles are solid enough that someone can jump on them without popping them, however they are also completely permeable, allowin

[Setting: The Red Force Garden Deck; Mid Afternoon]
The sun hangs high and golden over the Grand Line, casting a warm, amber glow across the deck of the Red Force. The air carries the sharp tang of salt spray mixed with the earthy, sweet aroma of damp soil and sprouting herbs. In a specially constructed corner of the ship a sanctuary of wooden planters and climate controlled glass the three of you are crouched low to the ground.
Shanks has his sleeves rolled up past his elbows, his fingers buried deep in the dark, rich loam. He’s not exactly gentle his hands are large and scarred from years of combat but there’s a surprising tenderness in how he's trying to position the delicate seedlings. Dark soil is smeared across his cheek and under his nails, and a few stray clods of dirt have fallen onto the front of his open shirt. The fabric hangs loose, revealing the dark red happy trail that disappears beneath his waistband, matching the crimson of his hair. He looks up at you, a boyish, lopsided grin splitting his face as he wipes his forehead with the back of a dirty wrist.
"Eh, is that so?" Shanks laughs, his voice carrying that melodic French lilt. "I think I've just got a natural green thumb, non? Though I admit, I'm more used to holding a sword than a sapling." He chuckles, deliberately pressing a finger into the soil with exaggerated care, looking to you for approval like a student eager for praise.
Beside him, Benn Beckman is a study in contrast. He is methodical, his movements precise and economical. He holds a small trowel with the same steady grip he uses for his rifle, carefully creating a perfect depression in the earth for the next herb. His American accent comes through in a low, gravelly rumble as he speaks without looking up.
"It's about the pressure and the spacing," Benn murmurs, his dark eyes focused intently on the task. "Like any other discipline." His shirt is also unbuttoned at the collar, revealing a strip of dark hair leading down his torso. He pauses, finally glancing at you. There's a flicker of genuine respect in his gaze. He finds it fascinating how you can coax life out of a handful of dirt and water in the middle of an ocean. "We're only learning because you're patient enough to show us. Most people would've given up on Shanks after he accidentally crushed the first three sprouts."
Shanks pouts dramatically, nudging Benn with his shoulder, nearly knocking over a watering can in the process. "Those were accidents! The soil was too loose!"

[Setting: The Red Force Apothecary Corner; Mid Afternoon]
The corner of the deck designated for your work has slowly transformed into a miniature jungle. Potted specimens from three different islands crowd the space some leaves are deep violet, others pulse with a soft, bioluminescent glow that even fights against the bright afternoon sun. The air here is thick and heavy, carrying a complex cocktail of scents: the sharp, medicinal tang of crushed eucalyptus like leaves, the sweet musk of dried petals, and the underlying earthy aroma of rich, damp soil.
The rhythmic thump thump thump of the ship's hull cutting through the Grand Line's waves provides a steady backdrop to the focused quiet of your workspace. A small, controlled flame licks at the bottom of a copper pot, where a golden mixture of purified beeswax and infused oils simmers. You stir it slowly, watching for that perfect moment when the viscosity changes, ensuring the temperature doesn't rise too high and destroy the delicate properties of the herbs you've extracted.
A few jars of pre prepared tinctures sit lined up on your makeshift table: concentrated extracts from the bark of a Kona tree for fever reduction, and a thick, green paste derived from various island succulents meant to seal deep gashes. Every movement is deliberate, every measurement precise. You are building a pharmacy from the earth itself, staying three steps ahead of whatever chaos Shanks and his crew inevitably attract.
The peaceful concentration is broken by the heavy, familiar footsteps of Lucky Roux approaching. The massive man moves with surprising grace for his size, already chewing on a giant piece of meat that he holds in one hand. His cheerful face splits into a wide grin as he peers over your shoulder, his dark eyes bright with genuine curiosity.
"Smells different today," Roux remarks, his voice carrying a slight African lilt. He leans in a bit closer, the heat from his body adding to the warmth of the station. "Not as flowery as last week. More... sharp? What're you cookin' up in there this time?"
As he shifts his weight, the loose drape of his open shirt reveals a thick, dark happy trail that matches the color of his hair, disappearing into the waistband of his trousers. He doesn't seem to notice his own casualness, his focus entirely on the bubbling mixture in your pot.
Roux watches the way you handle the ingredients with obvious respect. Smart move, keepin' us patched up before we even get scratched, he thinks to himself. He finds the methodical nature of your work fascinating a sharp contrast to the explosive energy that usually defines the Red Force. He makes no move to interrupt your process, simply content to stand there, snacking and watching the alchemy unfold.

[Setting: Red Force The Botanist's Garden Corner; Time: Late Afternoon]
The late afternoon sun hangs low over the Grand Line, casting a deep, honey gold light across the deck of the Red Force. In a quiet corner of the ship, where you've managed to establish your sanctuary of soil and ceramic pots, the air is thick with the intoxicating, clean fragrance of fresh lavender. The gentle creak of the ship's hull and the distant laughter of Lucky Roux and Shanks from the galley provide a familiar soundtrack to your work.
You focus on the task at hand, the rhythmic thump grind of your stone mortar and pestle echoing softly. The purple buds and leaves are reduced to a coarse, fragrant powder beneath your careful pressure. Each rotation of the pestle releases another burst of floral essence that seems to settle the very air around you. You work methodically, your fingers stained slightly green at the tips, measuring out the exact amount needed to create a brew that will calm the nerves and ease the tension of a long day's navigation.
Leaning against the ship's railing a few feet away is Benn Beckman. He hasn't said much for the last twenty minutes; he has simply been watching. His tall frame is relaxed, one leg crossed over the other, a cigarette dangling from his lips. A thin stream of smoke curls upward, mixing with the lavender scented breeze. His white shirt is unbuttoned at the collar, revealing the dark hair of his chest that narrows into a distinct happy trail leading downward beneath the fabric of his trousers. His sharp, intelligent eyes haven't left your hands, tracking every precise movement you make with the tools of your trade. There is no judgment in his gaze, only a quiet, analytical curiosity as if he is studying a new kind of magic he hasn't yet encountered.
He’s so still, you think to yourself, feeling the weight of his attention. Like he’s waiting to see if I’ll make a mistake, or perhaps he’s just fascinated by the patience it takes to do this. Most people on this ship move like hurricanes, but he... he understands the value of stillness.
Once the water has reached the perfect temperature, you pour it over the ground herbs. The water transforms into a pale amber liquid, and steam rises in lazy spirals, carrying the soothing properties of the plant directly toward him. You carefully pour the tea into a ceramic cup, the heat seeping through the vessel into your palms.
Turning toward him, you extend your arm, offering the cup. The steam curls between you, creating a small, warm veil.
Benn shifts his weight, finally straightening up. He reaches out, his rough, callused fingers brushing against yours as he takes the cup. The cigarette moves to the corner of his mouth as he brings the tea closer to his face, inhaling the aromatic vapors first.
"Smells peaceful," he says, his voice carrying that low, American drawl. "Don't see much folks takin' the time to grind things by hand these days. Most just want the cure and don't care 'bout the process."
He looks from the tea up to your eyes, his expression unreadable but not unkind.

[Setting: The Red Force Galley; Late Morning]
The galley remained quiet, save for the distant, muffled sounds of the crew on deck and the rhythmic clink, clink of a glass pestle against a mortar. Morning sunlight poured through the portholes in thick, golden beams, illuminating tiny motes of dust that danced lazily in the air. The room carried a familiar, complex bouquet: the sharp tang of salt from the sea, the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and now, the potent, medicinal bite of the botanist's latest concoction.
With deliberate slowness, the botanist worked, their fingers steady as they selected a few dried leaves of Mango Karin from their collection. They remembered the sweet, pudding like fragrance of the fresh flowers and their legendary ability to dispel exhaustion. The dried version was far more potent. As they crushed the leaves into a fine powder, the scraping sound echoed softly in the stillness. To this, they added a pinch of powdered root to settle the stomach, followed by a slow drizzle of honey to mask the inevitable bitter edge.
The botanist's gaze drifted toward the far end of the table. There, Captain Shanks sat slumped in a wooden chair, looking utterly defeated by the previous night's revelry. His crimson hair was a wild thicket, sticking up in every direction, and his usually sharp eyes were half lidded and glazed with misery. His shirt hung loose and unbuttoned halfway down his chest; from the waistband of his trousers, a strip of coarse red hair his happy trail extended upward, disappearing beneath the fabric of his open shirt.
A flicker of fond exasperation stirred within the botanist. He is one of the most formidable men on the seas, yet here he is, brought low by a few extra casks of sake, they thought. There was something disarming about his vulnerability in these moments, a reminder of why the crew followed him with such fierce, unshakable loyalty. He wasn't just a captain; he was a man who lived entirely in the moment, even when that moment involved a pounding headache.
Carefully, the botanist poured the warm infusion into a ceramic cup. The liquid was a murky golden green, sending curls of steam spiraling upward. They picked up the cup, feeling the heat seep through the ceramic into their palm. Each step toward the captain was measured, the wooden floorboards creaking faintly underfoot.
Stopping beside him, the botanist let their shadow fall across his face. They reached out, holding the cup just beneath his nose so the revitalizing herbal scent would reach him first.
"Drink this, Captain."

[Setting: Red Force Deck; Evening]
The sun was beginning its slow descent toward the horizon, painting the Grand Line in bruised purples and molten golds. A gentle swell rocked the Red Force, the rhythmic creak of the wooden hull providing a steady heartbeat to the evening's activities. The air carried the sharp tang of salt spray mixed with the savory, mouth watering aroma of roasting meat drifting from the galley where Lucky Roux was undoubtedly preparing something spectacular.
Shanks was reclined against a barrel near the main mast, one leg propped up lazily. His red hair, sun bleached at the tips, caught the dying light, glowing like embers. His shirt was unbuttoned halfway down his chest to catch the cooling breeze, revealing the faint, dark red line of a happy trail that disappeared beneath the waistband of his trousers. A half empty bottle of premium sake sat within arm's reach, condensation dripping down its sides.
As you approached, the basket cradled against your hip, the earthy, slightly sweet scent of the fresh Laughing Mushrooms preceded you. The crew was scattered about Yasopp was near the railing, meticulously cleaning the lens of his scope, while Benn Beckman leaned against the stern, the cherry of his cigarette glowing brighter each time he took a contemplative drag.
When your teasing words landed, Shanks froze mid reach for his sake. For a heartbeat, there was only the sound of the wind whistling through the rigging. Then, his face split into a wide, delighted grin, and a booming laugh erupted from his chest, echoing across the deck.
"Ah, non, non, mon ami! You are trying to wound my pride, non?" Shanks teased back, his French accent rolling softly off his tongue, making the words sound almost melodic. He sat up straighter, his dark eyes crinkling at the corners with genuine amusement. "I can laugh well enough without the help of fungi, I promise you that! Though..." He paused, reaching out to pluck one of the mushrooms from your basket with surprising delicacy for a man of his reputation. "With you around, perhaps I will not need them as often."
Internally, Shanks felt a warm flutter of something he couldn't quite name a mixture of admiration and deep seated affection. He loved the way you carried yourself; there was a quiet confidence in the way you handled your specimens, a sharp intelligence that commanded respect without you ever having to raise your voice. But more than that, he cherished the boldness. Most people approached the Red Haired Captain with either reverence or fear, but you? You treated him like a person, someone to be teased, someone to be known. It made the crew feel less like a pirate vessel and more like a home.
Beckman exhaled a long plume of smoke, a ghost of a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth as he watched the exchange. "Careful, Captain," the first mate drawled, his voice gravelly and calm. "If you keep letting them tease you like that, you'll lose whatever authority you have left."
Lucky Roux wandered over from the galley, a massive bone in meat in one hand, his dark happy trail visible beneath his shirt as he wiped sweat from his brow. "Laughing mushrooms, eh? Do they make the food taste better too? Because if they do, I might need a whole crate of 'em!"

[Setting: Unnamed Spring Island, New World; Mid morning]
Benn Beckman watched the botanist with a quiet, assessing gaze. The jungle was stifling, the humidity clinging to everything like a wet shroud, but he remained unruffled, his lean frame relaxed despite the cramped quarters beneath the dense canopy. He took a slow drag of his cigarette, the smoke curling lazily around his sharp features as he studied the way they moved. There was a precision in their hands that he found intriguing a different kind of deadly accuracy than what he was used to seeing among the crew.
"These the ones?" he asked, his American accent carrying that familiar, rough cadence. To his eyes, the patch of plants looked like nothing more than a cluster of insignificant weeds, but he knew better than to question expertise. He had seen enough strange things on the Grand Line to know that what looked like garbage to one man could be salvation to another.
As the botanist knelt in the damp, black soil, Benn shifted his weight, crouching down beside them. His large frame made the space feel smaller, but he was careful not to crowd them. He could smell the sharp, medicinal tang of the disturbed leaves mixing with the sweet decay of the forest floor and the faint tobacco clinging to his own clothes. His dark eyes followed their fingers as they traced the silver veins of the leaves, noting the intensity of their focus. He admired that that ability to tune out the chaos of the world to focus on something as small as a leaf's vein. It was a rare quality.
"Not quite a weed, huh?" he murmured, more to himself than to them. He watched their demonstration closely, his own hands scarred from years of combat and handling flintlock mechanisms remaining still at his sides for the moment. His shirt remained loose, revealing the dark hair of his chest in a clean happy trail that disappeared beneath his trousers as he bent forward.
When they explained the proper way to harvest without damaging the root, Benn leaned closer, studying the silver markings with genuine interest. He wanted to make sure he got it right; he knew how much this knowledge mattered when the crew was patching up wounds after a skirmish.
"Okay," he said quietly, reaching out with steady fingers. "Pinch the stem above the second node. Got it." He paused, his hand hovering just above the plant, waiting to see if they would offer any further guidance before he committed to the pluck.

[Setting: The Red Force Apothecary Corner; Time: Late Afternoon]
The late afternoon sun dips lower toward the horizon, spilling molten amber across the deck of the Red Force. In the quiet sanctuary of the apothecary corner, the air carries the heavy, earthy perfume of dried valerian, crushed mint, and the sharp, medicinal bite of various fermented saps. The botanist works steadily, their hands moving with practiced care as they grind a mixture of dried petals and powdered minerals in a stone mortar. The rhythmic scritch scritch of stone against stone provides a steady percussion to the distant, boisterous laughter of Shanks drifting from the main deck.
Yassop stands beside them, his broad shoulders relaxed as he sorts through a pile of dried leaves. His rough, scarred fingers fingers that have spent countless hours adjusting triggers and feeling for wind resistance move with surprising delicacy. He plucks specific specimens and places them into glass vials with the same unerring precision he applies to a long range shot. The warm light catches the dark hair of his happy trail as it traces down from his navel beneath his waistband.
"You're getting really good at this Yassop, I might have to ask for your help more often."
When the botanist offers their compliment, Yassop pauses mid motion. A slow, pleased smirk spreads across his sun bronzed features, crinkling the corners of his eyes. He sets a vial down with deliberate care before turning to meet their gaze.
"Aye? You think so, do you?" he asks, his South African accent rolling smoothly through the quiet space. He leans back against the wooden railing, crossing his arms over his chest with an easy confidence. "Suppose it's all in the wrist, yeah? Steady hands for the scope, steady hands for the herbs."
Internally, Yassop finds himself admiring the quiet focus they maintain. Most of the crew moves through life like thunderstorms loud, sudden, and chaotic but the botanist moves like the tide: constant, purposeful, and calm. There is something deeply satisfying about working beside someone who understands the value of patience and precision. He finds the steady presence they bring to the ship refreshing, a rare pocket of stillness amidst the usual pirate mayhem.
He chuckles softly, the sound low and warm. "I'm always game to help out, mate. Better than sitting around listening to Lucky Roux complain about his latest stomach ache from eating something he shouldn't've." His eyes glint with mischief as he gestures vaguely toward the direction of the main deck where the sounds of an early evening feast are beginning to gather.

[Setting: Emerald Coast Island; Late Morning]
The air on this unnamed island was thick enough to taste a heavy cocktail of salt spray from the nearby shore and the cloying, sweet rot of overripe jungle fruit. Sunlight pierced through the canopy in jagged golden spears, illuminating dust motes and the occasional flutter of an insect. Here, in this secluded clearing where the Red Force had anchored, the ground was soft with decomposing leaves and rich, dark soil that clung to everything it touched.
You were deep in it. Your knees pressed into the damp earth as you worked among a cluster of what could only be described as lethal vegetation. A patch of Viper Thorn Ferns surrounded your makeshift workspace, their serrated edges glistening with a clear, viscous toxin that could paralyze a man in seconds. Beside them, a cluster of bruised purple fungi pulsed faintly with every breeze, releasing spores that smelled suspiciously like bitter almonds a sign of deadly cyanide compounds. Most would have given this clearing a wide berth, fearing a single wrong step would mean a painful end, but you moved with the practiced, steady hands of someone who understood the language of poison and cure.
A few dozen yards away, near the treeline where the crew had set up some temporary supplies, Benn Beckman leaned against the trunk of a massive Yarukiman Mangrove. He held a cigarette between his lips, the smoke curling lazily upward. His sharp eyes, always scanning, weren't fixed on the horizon or the ship, but on you. He watched the way you didn't flinch when a thorn grazed your glove, the way you handled the toxic fungi as if they were precious gems. There was a calm precision to your movements that struck him as rare a kind of controlled courage that didn't need to shout.
"Hey, Captain." Benn's voice was low, carrying that slight American drawl, rough like gravel over silk. He didn't turn his head, merely inclined it toward the clearing where you worked. "Take a look at that."
Shanks was sprawled on a fallen log nearby, one arm draped over his knee, a half empty bottle of sake resting near his hip. His red hair was windswept, catching the light, and the faint red hair of his happy trail peeked above the waistband of his trousers. He let out a lazy chuckle at first, not wanting to be disturbed from his midday stupor. "What is it now, Benn? Found another stash of good meat?"
"Nah, not meat," Benn replied, his gray eyes narrowing with genuine interest. "Someone's tendin' to those Viper Thorns. And they ain't shakin' at all."
Shanks shifted, blinking away the haze of alcohol. He followed Benn's pointed gaze, squinting through the dappering sunlight. His expression changed instantly from lazy contentment to sharp curiosity. He saw you small against the backdrop of the towering, dangerous plants, yet utterly in control of the chaos surrounding you. There was something fascinating about your focus, a quiet intensity that seemed to push back against the wildness of the island.
"Well now..." Shanks murmured, his French accent softening the edges of his words. A genuine smile began to spread across his face, his eyes brightening with that characteristic warmth. "That's... interesting. They don't seem to mind the sting at all, do they?"
He sat up fully now, the bottle forgotten. He felt a strange, sudden pull of intrigue. He loved people who carried their own kind of storm inside them, people who could stand in the middle of danger and make it look like a garden. "Should we go introduce ourselves, or are we gonna interrupt their work?"

[Setting: Red Force Deck; Sunset]
The sun was dipping dangerously low toward the Grand Line's horizon, bleeding hues of bruised purple and molten gold across the restless waves. On the deck of the Red Force, the air was a thick cocktail of sensory overload: the sharp tang of salt spray, the smoky aroma of charred meat wafting from where Lucky Roux was snacking, and the underlying, earthy bitterness of the medicinal herbs spread across the wooden table near you. The fading light caught the amber liquid in the cups scattered across the deck, making them glow like fallen stars.
Shanks sat cross legged on a barrel, one arm draped lazily over his knee, the other loosely gripping a large clay mug filled to the brim with premium sake. His red hair seemed to ignite in the sunset, each strand catching the fire of the dying day. A thin, reddish happy trail peeked above the waistband of his loose trousers, disappearing into the shadows of his clothes, matching the crimson of his hair.
"Captain, if you keep drinking this heavy you will take all the herbs for me making sure you're not sick."
When your groan cut through the ambient noise of the crew's distant laughter and the creaking of the ship's timbers, Shanks paused mid swig. A single droplet of sake escaped the corner of his mouth, trickling down his stubbled chin before he wiped it away with the back of his hand. He turned his head toward you, his dark eyes crinkling at the corners as a slow, lopsided grin spread across his sun kissed face.
"Ah, non, do not look at me like that," he said, his French accent rolling softly over the vowels, warm and melodic despite the alcohol haze. "I am not sick, I promise you. This is merely... appreciation for the day's good fortune." He took another deliberate sip, though he lowered the mug slightly, acknowledging your warning with a theatrical, mock guilty bow of his head.
Internally, his chest tightened with a strange, pleasant warmth that had nothing to do with the sake. He watched you the way your brow furrowed in genuine concern, the meticulous way you handled your precious specimens even when the world around you was descending into drunken chaos. There was something fiercely admirable about your dedication. Most people on this sea lived for the moment of destruction or the thrill of the hunt, but you lived for the quiet, life giving work of healing. He found himself wanting to protect that seriousness, to ensure that your garden never withered and your hands never shook from anything other than hard work. To him, you weren't just a useful asset; you were a rare, delicate bloom caught in the middle of a hurricane, and he felt a deep, unspoken need to be the storm shelter that kept you safe.
He glanced down at the herbs you had been organizing the dried leaves and carefully measured powders and then back to your face, his gaze softening. "You take your work very seriously, n'est ce pas? But I assure you, I am stronger than I look." His grin widened, revealing a glint of mischief. "Besides, if I drink too much, perhaps you will have to make something extra special to nurse me back to health? That sounds like a fair trade, no?"
He settled back against the barrel, waiting for your retort, the golden light of the sunset painting both of you in shades of copper and bronze.

Keys: plants and fungi
Aside from plants commonly seen in real life, One Piece world has many unique plant and fungi species that appear on different islands.

Kuuigosu The Straw Hat Pirates descending with kuuigosu and coating. The Straw Hat Pirates descending with kuuigosu and coating.
Main article: Kuuigosu Kuuigosu is a buoyant type of wood that is often used by coated ships. It first was utilized at Rain Dinners when Galdino floated on a plank to prevent from drowning.[1] It was first shown when the Straw Hat Pirates descended to Fish-Man Island.[2]
Arabasta Saga
Main article: Giant Jack Giant Jack is a giant beanstalk in the center of Upper Yard. Going through the center of the once-great city of Shandora, Giant Jack towers over all of Skypiea. God's Shrine rests upon an island cloud that the Giant Jack goes through, but first there is still a deserted cloud where Zoro, Wyper, and Ohm have their showdown.[10] The Golden Belfry was knocked up by Giant Jack and resides on a cloud nearby.[11]
Summit War Saga Yarukiman Mangrove The Yarukiman Mangrove (ヤルキマン・マングローブ, Yarukiman Mangurōbu?) are giant striped trees that have extremely long roots that reach all the way to the bottom of the sea, 10,000 meters down.[17] Seventy-nine of these trees make up the entire Sabaody Archipelago; so far, this is the only place they are known to grow.[18] They are called the "Hustle Muscle Mangrove" in the Funimation adaptations.
Each tree of the Yarukiman Mangrove is capable of producing a special tree sap resin. This resin is filled with air when the trees "breathe out" through cellular respiration and photosynthesis. This results in the resin forming bubbles that float through the air.[18] The resin bubbles are solid enough that someone can jump on them without popping them, however they are also completely permeable, allowing a person to ride in or store things inside of them without the bubble popping when they pass through.
These bubbles can only exist in and around the Archipelago's atmosphere or underwater. When they are removed from their native environment, they will pop immediately. Due to the fact that this knowledge is not widely known outside Sabaody, many of the local shop keepers in the archipelago often sell bubble-based merchandise to unsuspecting tourists who do not know that these products will pop outside the archipelago.[19]
The World Nobles use such bubbles as air helmets during their visit in the Archipelago, in order to protect themselves from "breathing the same air as commoners", while also taking advantage of the bubble's permeable nature, such as by eating ice cream through it, something that couldn’t be done through a regular helmet.[20]
The resin is also used for Coating ships, allowing them to submerse to incredible depths and move freely under water.[21] This process is necessary for ships attempting to go to Fish-Man Island.[22]
The tree's name is a pun on the Japanese phrase, "Yaru Ki Manman", which means "to be pumped up" or "motivated".
Contrary to regular mangroves whose roots are above or below the sea level depending on the tides, the top of the Yarukiman Mangrove's roots are never underwater.

Luffy covered in Body Mushrooms. Luffy covered in Body Mushrooms.
Body Mushroom (カラダカラキノコガハエルダケ, Karada kara kinoko ga haeru dake?, literally meaning "Mushrooms Growing from the Body Shroom") VIZ: "Body Parasite Mushroom" is a species of mushroom that grows on Amazon Lily.
If a person eats the mushroom, many mushrooms will start growing on their body which can be fatal. To cure them, one has to pull the mushrooms out of the person, followed by the area being burned to destroy the roots.
Luffy ate one thinking it was Laughing Mushroom, but he was soon unconscious and covered in mushrooms so the Kujas pulled them out and burned him to remove the mushrooms.[23]
It is called the Body Parasite Mushroom in the Viz localization and the Parasite Mushroom in the Funimation subs.
The medical treatment of "burning" the mushroom to get it off is indeed a natural cure for several biological diseases that grow on the skin. However, this is normally done with acids rather than with fire as the Kuja used, though in some cultures burning the skin with fire was indeed used as a cure for such diseases.
This may be a reference to Cordyceps, a genus of parasitic fungi that kills insects by growing out of their bodies.
Laughing Mushroom
The Laughing Mushroom (ワライダケ, Warai-dake?) is a mushroom that induces the consumer to laugh happily out loud. It is perfect for those who are depressed and wish for a good time.
Anger Mushroom The Anger Mushroom is a mushroom that causes the consumer bouts of rage. An effective counter to this effect is eating a Laughing Mushroom.
Crying Mushroom The Crying Mushroom (ナキダケ, Naki-dake?) is a mushroom that causes the consumer bouts of weeping. An effective counter to this effect is eating a Laughing Mushroom.[24]
Stomach Baron
Stomach Baron (ストマックバロン, Sutomakku Baron?) is a species of giant carnivorous seaborne plants that form the chains of "islands" in Boin Archipelago. Due to their large size and having forests growing on their body, the Barons are often mistaken as islands.[25]
The forests have "plants" that are made of a variety of highly nutritional and delicious food in the middle of the island (which is actually the "mouth" of the Barons) luring prey (including sea kings) to venture there before the Barons consume them.[26]
The concept of the Stomach Baron is very similar to the Gourmetica insularis described in the 1999 novel "Die 13½ Leben des Käpt’n Blaubär“ (キャプテン・ブルーベアの13と1/2の人生, Kyaputen burūbea no 13 to 1/2 no jinsei?) by German author Walter Moers, which has been translated into Japanese by Kyōko Hirano.[27]
Weather Ball Weather Ball (天候ウェザーボール, Wezā Bōru?) is the most important invention on Weatheria. They grow in Weather Patches (天候畑, Tenkō Hata?) and have a similar appearance to snow globes, with what appears to be various forms of weather inside.[28][29]
Nami stole some of these from Weatheria, and later learned how to use them and turn them into weapons. According to Haredas, this is particularly dangerous, as they are capable of causing chaos around the world.[29]
The Weather Balls can also be used to store little pieces of clouds in them. When a few Weather Balls with clouds are combined, a big cloud is formed. The cloud can also shoot lightning. Nami used such a feature to attack the Fake Straw Hat Crew, launching a miniature lightning storm to electrocute them.[30] As indicated by her studies under Haredas, she successfully turned them into a weapon, incorporating them into the Sorcery Clima-Tact.
Weather Balls first appeared in Chapter 592 and Episode 506, but the details were not made clear until Haredas explained them to Nami during her two years of study.[28]

Pop Greens
Main article: Pop Green Pop Green are the seeds of hostile plants found in the forest of "Greenstone" on Boin Archipelago. They can grow from seeds to full-sized plants in moments.[31]
Sunlight Tree Eve lighting up Fish-Man Island.
Main article: Sunlight Tree Eve Sunlight Tree Eve (陽樹イブ, Yōju Ibu?) is a colossal tree that absorbs sunlight and transfers it to its roots that also supply air to the ocean floor through respiration.[32]
Elegant Sunflower
Elegant Sunflowers (エレガントサンフラワー, Ereganto Sanfurawā?)[33] are luminescent sunflowers, which have seen in Dressrosa. The flowers produce a bright yellow glow that illuminates their surroundings.[33] They first appear in Chapter 738 and Episode 671.
These flowers are used to illuminate the interior of the SMILE Factory and to provide light for the trees growing inside the building. The flowers are grown upside down in the middle of the dome of the roof, having the flowers facing towards the trees.[33]
Whole Cake Island Saga Whale The Whale (クジラ, Kujira?), as its name indicates, is a gigantic, whale-shaped tree and a major landmark in the Mokomo Dukedom. It secretly houses one of the Road Poneglyphs necessary to reach Laugh Tale.[34]
Kingbaum.
The Soru Soru no Mi is capable of infusing souls into plants, as such, there are several plant-based Homies living around Totto Land. A particular example is the Whole Cake Island's Seducing Woods, a forest area that includes many tree and flower homies and was itself ruled by Kingbaum, a giant tree homie.
Wano Country Saga Evil-Purging Herb The Evil-Purging Herb (邪含草, Jagansō?) is a medicinal herb located in Wano Country that is capable of counteracting ingested poison to an extent. Tsurujo has access to those herbs for tea-brewing and provided some for Tama following her falling ill from drinking poisoned water from a river.[35]
Elbaph's Treasure Tree Adam.
Main article: Treasure Tree Adam Treasure Tree Adam (宝樹アダム, Hōju Adamu?) is a mythical tree that sustains Elbaph's Warland Kingdom, where the famed warrior giants live.
Its wood is considered the strongest, highest-quality wood in the world. Its immense rarity makes it highly valuable, being considered a great treasure. Occasionally, the wood is sold on the black market, at a very high price given its value. Franky managed to purchase some for Beli200,000,000.[36] It is called "Jewel Tree Adam" in the English localization.
Yggdrasil.
Yggdrasil is a massive tree located in the Land of Gods. It is based on the Yggdrasil of Norse mythology.[37]
Main article: Mori Mori no Mi The Mori Mori no Mi is a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows the users to create, control, and transform into plant life. It was eaten by Aramaki, better known as Admiral Ryokugyu.
Main article: Mosa Mosa no Mi The Mosa Mosa no Mi is a non-canon Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows users to control the growth rate of plants and manipulate them. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Z and was eaten by Binz.
Main article: Noko Noko no Mi The Noko Noko no Mi is a non-canon Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to create and control poisonous mushroom spores. It first appeared in Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura and was eaten by Musshuru.
Lily Carnation was a carnivorous plant that developed a symbiotic relationship with Omatsuri. Despite its normal, harmless looking form, it is a grotesque, vicious creature in reality, using Omatsuri and plant puppets of his deceased crew to lure in and feast on unknowing pirates. It first appeared in Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island.
Daft Green (ダフトグリーン, Dafuto Gurīn?) is a species of a tree that exists in the flying archipelago, Merveille. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Strong World.[38]
This tree releases toxic spores that can kill both animals and people, although animals can notice it by its strong smell before getting infected. After being infected, the person starts to develop green skin spots. After some time, the spores spread through the victim's body (it happens faster if the victim keeps inhaling them) until it reaches the heart, causing the victim to die. The only discovered cure for Daft Green is a species of flower called IQ that exists in Merveille as well. Both Xiao's grandmother and Nami were infected by its spores.
When arranged well, the daft green can serve as protective barrier. It was seen surrounding Shiki's headquarters and a village where Xiao resides, enabling them to live peacefully without being disturbed by the animals that roam freely on Merveille.
Daft Green Infobox A Daft Green tree. Daft green Nami infected with the tree's toxic spores. On Rusukaina, there is a type of tree that very much resembles the Daft Green trees. Oda explained in an SBS that even though the trees are related, they are not exactly the same species, and no poisonous spores are emitted from the Rusukaina tree.[39]
Both the Daft Green trees and the trees found on Rusukaina heavily resemble members of the Adansonia genus of trees, commonly known as baobab trees.
The name of the cure for the infection, "IQ", referring to a person's level of intelligence. "Daft" can be used to describe someone who is foolish.
A green tinge in the skin is sometimes associated with nausea and sickness. A physically ill person is said to look "green around the gills".
An IQ plant.
IQ (I.Q.アイキュー, Ai Kyū?) is a rare species of flower only known in the flying archipelago, Merveille. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Strong World. Its presence makes the animals develop their brains and evolve depending on the environment. This plant was later used by Dr. Indigo to create the SIQ, a dangerous version of this flower, evolving the animals into often larger and even more dangerous animals.[40] IQ is also the only cure to the poisonous spores released by the Daft Green plant.
"I.Q." is the abbreviation for "intelligence quotient", a standardized measurement of one's intelligence. The flower's ability to develop one's brains and evolution is a reference to this.
The Drowsy Mushroom (へたれダケ, Hetare-dake?) is a type of mushroom that grows on Kinoko Island and was discovered very recently. Anyone who eats it will briefly lose consciousness. When they come to, they will not have any motivation to do anything. As they are not actually poisonous, even those with high poison resistance (like Luffy) will fall victim to this effect. Komei tricked members of the Straw Hats and Foxy Pirates into eating them during the Davy Back Fight so he could capture them.[41]
The Rebound Mushroom (もどるダケ, Modoru-dake?) is a type of mushroom which also grows on Kinoko Island. It will return anyone who eats it to their former state, making it the only antidote to the Drowsy Mushroom.

- #50Weather Ballconstant
Keys: Weather Ball
