The study found that being high was most strongly linked to feeling “chill,” “tingly,” and “thirsty.” Other common feelings were peacefulness, dreaminess, and relaxation. But some people also felt clumsy, confused, and dizzy.A happy, relaxed or “high” feeling.

The Phases of a High The experience unfolds across a few key stages, each with its own feel and duration.

A cannabis high is a predictable progression. Understanding the timeline from that first little buzz to the final, gentle comedown demystifies the whole thing. It puts you in the driver's seat.

The main stages include:

The Onset: The very first, subtle feelings begin to appear. The Peak: The point where the effects are at their strongest. The Comedown: A gradual return to your baseline state. The Aftereffects: Lingering sensations that can sometimes last into the next day. The type of cannabis you choose also plays a huge role in the character of your high. For instance, a Sativa is often linked to a more energetic, cerebral peak, while an Indica typically guides you toward a more relaxed, body-focused experience. To get a better handle on this, you can learn more about the difference between Indica and Sativa in our detailed guide.

Knowing these differences helps you pick the right product for the journey you're looking for.

The 5 Stages of a Cannabis High at a Glance To make it even clearer, let's break down the timeline. Here’s a quick overview of what you can typically expect when you inhale cannabis, like from smoking or vaping. Keep in mind that edibles will have a much slower, but often more intense, progression.

Stage Typical Timing (Inhalation) What You Might Feel The Onset 0-10 Minutes Subtle changes, a light-headed feeling, your senses might feel a bit sharper. The Climb 10-30 Minutes The effects build and become more obvious. You might feel a mood boost or start laughing. The Peak 30-90 Minutes This is the point of maximum intensity. Expect full effects like euphoria and altered perception. The Comedown 1-3 Hours The effects start to gently fade away, often leading to a sense of deep relaxation. The Afterglow 3+ Hours / Next Day A lingering sense of calm or sometimes a slight mental fogginess. Understanding this natural arc helps you relax into the experience instead of wondering what's coming next. It's a predictable path, and knowing the way makes for a much better trip.Common signals to watch for include:

A Sense of Light-Headedness: A slight, pleasant dizziness or a feeling of weightlessness in your head. Sensory Shifts: You might notice colors seem a little richer or that sounds have more depth and detail. A Case of the Giggles: The first wave of amusement or laughter might start to build, often for no particular reason at all. Tingling Sensations: Some people notice a mild tingling feeling in their hands, feet, or face. This is the moment THC, the main psychoactive compound in cannabis, hits your bloodstream through your lungs. From there, it makes a beeline for your brain, where it starts interacting with your endocannabinoid system and kicks off the high.

The initial onset stage is fast—usually within 0-10 minutes for smoking or vaping. With today's lab-tested products, this stage is more predictable than ever. Some vape cartridges, for instance, can hit 70-90% THC, making the onset feel almost instant. As you can discover more insights about this process on Mood.com, research has shown that inhalation causes blood THC levels to peak in under 10 minutes for the vast majority of adults.

Why "Start Low and Go Slow" Matters Here Because the onset from inhaling is so quick, it gives you a vital window to check in with yourself and see how you’re feeling. This is precisely why the golden rule of "start low and go slow" is so important.

Taking a small puff and then waiting 10-15 minutes lets you feel the onset without accidentally blasting past it into an uncomfortably intense peak.

The experience is a whole different ballgame with edibles, which bypass this rapid onset completely. Instead of waiting minutes, you could be waiting an hour or even longer to feel anything. If you want to dive deeper into that specific timeline, check out our guide on how long edibles last. Understanding this difference is crucial for picking the right experience. This first stage is your checkpoint, and it sets the tone for the entire ride.

Reaching The Peak: The Most Intense Phase Smiling woman enjoys cereal amidst vibrant watercolor bursts, suggesting happiness and energy. After that initial climb, you’ve made it to the peak. This is the main event—the most intense part of the whole experience. It’s the moment all the effects hit their crescendo, usually arriving somewhere between 30 and 90 minutes after you’ve smoked or vaped. If the onset was the hike up the mountain, the peak is standing at the summit, taking in that expansive, mind-altering view.

At the peak, your high is as strong as it’s going to get. This is where those powerful feelings of pure joy, unexpected bursts of creativity, or deep moments of self-reflection really come to the forefront. You might notice your senses are dialed up a notch; colors look a little brighter, and music can feel like it’s washing over you. And yes, this is typically when the legendary "munchies" make their grand entrance, turning a simple bowl of cereal into a five-star culinary experience.

What Does Your Peak Look Like? The kind of peak you experience really comes down to the product you chose. This is where the unique personality of a strain truly reveals itself. A sativa-dominant strain might send you into an energetic, cerebral buzz that’s perfect for tackling a creative project or diving into a great conversation. An indica-dominant strain, on the other hand, will probably steer you toward deep physical relaxation and a powerful sense of calm.

During this stage, you might find yourself feeling:

Intense Euphoria: A powerful wave of happiness and contentment. Warped Sense of Time: You might look at the clock and realize only five minutes have passed when it felt like an hour. Deep Introspection: It’s common to find yourself pondering big ideas, your own life, or your relationships. Heightened Senses: Tastes, sounds, and sights can all feel more vivid and engaging than usual. Riding Out The Intensity The peak is also when less-than-fun effects, like a bit of anxiety or paranoia, might show up, especially if you’ve had a high dose of THC. The most important thing to remember is that these feelings are temporary. If you start to feel a little overwhelmed, the best thing to do is find a comfortable, safe spot, maybe put on some calming tunes, and just remind yourself that the intensity will pass.

The peak is a powerful experience. That initial thrill hits, colors can seem more vibrant, and your thoughts might turn inward. With edible sales expected to keep climbing, it’s vital to understand their peaks can last a full 2-4 hours, much longer than the 1-2 hours for inhalation. As you can dig into deeper on Weedmaps, some research has even suggested women may feel a greater spike in anxiety with high THC doses, which makes starting slow and moderate a smart move for everybody.

Knowing the timeline is everything. The peak from an edible can be much longer and feel way more intense than one from a vape pen, so planning your dose and your setting ahead of time is absolutely key. This is how you make sure your time at the summit is incredible instead of intimidating.

The Comedown: Your Smooth Landing Sick person bundled in a gray blanket, holding water and snacks, with cold medicine nearby. After the intensity of the peak, the journey shifts into its gentlest and often longest phase. This is the comedown, but don't think of it as a sudden crash. It’s more like a smooth, gradual descent as the intense psychoactive effects begin to fade, making way for a sustained period of deep relaxation and calm.

This stage typically kicks in about 1 to 3 hours after you've smoked or vaped. The overwhelming sensory input from the peak softens, and you’ll likely feel a sense of peaceful contemplation. Think of it like an airplane reaching cruising altitude after a steep climb—the ride gets smoother, quieter, and much more stable.

What to Expect During the Comedown As the euphoria from the peak gracefully recedes, it’s replaced by a different, but equally pleasant, set of feelings. The comedown is all about shifting from mental stimulation to a state of total physical and mental tranquility.

During this phase, it's pretty common to experience things like:

A profound sense of relaxation that washes over your entire body. Feelings of sleepiness or tiredness, especially after a long day. A slow return of mental clarity, though your thoughts might still feel a bit deliberate. A quiet, reflective mood that’s perfect for just unwinding. This tapering-off process is a completely natural part of the ride. It’s just your body’s way of signaling that it’s metabolizing the last of the THC and returning to its normal state. Knowing this helps you understand that the peak’s intensity is always temporary and will naturally evolve into this much calmer phase.

The comedown isn't an abrupt end; it's a gentle descent. This is your body's natural process of winding down, where the most common effect is a growing sense of tiredness. It's the perfect time to lean into comfort and get some rest.

Tips for a Smooth Landing Navigating your descent is all about embracing comfort and giving your body what it needs as the high fully subsides. Being a little proactive can turn the comedown into one of the most enjoyable parts of the whole experience and help you steer clear of any potential grogginess.

To make your landing as soft as possible, try these simple tips:

Stay Hydrated: Keep a water bottle handy. Cannabis can cause dry mouth, and simply rehydrating will make you feel a whole lot better. Have a Light Snack: A small, healthy snack can help stabilize your blood sugar and ground you. Think fruit, nuts, or a cup of yogurt. Get Cozy: Settle into a comfortable spot. Throw on a familiar movie, listen to some chill music, or just relax in a quiet room with soft lighting. Listen to Your Body: If you feel sleepy, let yourself rest or take a nap. Trying to fight the tiredness will only leave you feeling groggy later. By preparing for this final stage, you can ensure your entire journey concludes on a peaceful and positive note.

The Afterglow and Next Day Effects Just because the main effects have worn off doesn't mean the experience is over. The journey often extends into the next day, and what that morning looks like is the final piece of the puzzle.

Sometimes, you wake up feeling refreshed, creative, and wrapped in a lingering sense of well-being. We call this the afterglow—a gentle, positive remnant of the experience that leaves you feeling clear and balanced. It's a subtle but pretty fantastic final act.

But other times, the morning after can feel… a little off.

Managing the "Weed Hangover" Let's be clear: a "weed hangover" isn't your typical alcohol-induced nightmare of nausea and splitting headaches. It’s more about feeling foggy, groggy, and just plain tired. This isn't a sign that something went wrong; it's a predictable physiological response.

This is most likely to happen after enjoying high-dose edibles, especially late in the evening. Your body is simply still processing cannabinoids while you're asleep, and that work can spill over into the next morning.

The good news is that these effects are almost always mild and temporary. Think of it as your body finishing its job. Instead of a negative outcome, it's just a signal that you might want to tweak your approach next time—maybe a slightly lower dose or enjoying it a bit earlier.

Your next-day experience is highly manageable. Feeling a bit foggy isn't a failure—it's just your body's response to potent cannabinoids. With a few simple steps, you can easily minimize these effects and get back to your baseline smoothly.

Proactive Tips for a Better Morning After Fortunately, you have a ton of control over how you feel the next day. A few simple, proactive moves can make all the difference, helping you aim for that pleasant afterglow instead of the morning groggies.

To set yourself up for a great morning, try these practical tips:

Hydrate Before, During, and After: This is your best friend. Drink plenty of water throughout the entire experience, and especially before bed. It helps your body process everything much more efficiently. Time Your Consumption Wisely: If you’re going with edibles, try to enjoy them earlier in the evening. This gives your body plenty of time to move through the peak and comedown before you hit the hay. Nourish Your Body: A good breakfast can work wonders. A balanced meal helps stabilize your blood sugar and gives you the fuel needed to shake off any leftover fogginess. Prioritize a Full Night's Sleep: Give your body the rest it deserves. Aim for a solid 7-9 hours of sleep to allow for a full recovery and reset. A little planning goes a long way. By thinking ahead, you can make sure your cannabis journey is enjoyable from the first moment all the way through to the next morning. The stages of a high are never a one-size-fits-all deal. Think of your product choice and how much you use as the two main factors that shape your entire experience, from the first feeling to the final afterglow. How you consume cannabis is what really dictates the timeline and intensity of each phase.

The product you pick is your biggest tool for controlling the ride. Each consumption method works with your body in a totally different way, creating a unique journey every time.

Flower & Vapes: These are the sprinters of the cannabis world. When you inhale, THC goes straight to your bloodstream through your lungs, which is why you can feel the effects in just a few minutes. This gives you almost instant feedback, making it easier to manage your dose and not overdo it. Edibles: Think of these as the marathon runners. After you eat a cannabis-infused product, it has to be processed by your liver, which turns THC into a much stronger compound. This results in a much slower onset, usually between 30-90 minutes, but it also leads to a longer, more intense peak that can last for hours. Tinctures: Tinctures offer a great middle ground. When you drop them under your tongue, they absorb pretty quickly for an onset that's faster than edibles. You can also just swallow them, which will give you a longer-lasting, more edible-like experience.Crafting Your Desired Experience Beyond just the delivery method, the cannabinoid profile of your product—which you'll find listed on any lab-tested item—is what really fine-tunes the character of your high. The THC percentage is the clearest sign of a product's potency and will have the biggest impact on the intensity of your peak.

A high-THC sativa vape pen, for instance, is built to deliver a fast, energetic, and cerebral high. On the other hand, a gummy with a balanced 1:1 ratio of THC to CBD will almost always give you a gentler, more body-focused high with less chance of anxiety. CBD is well-known for softening some of THC's more powerful psychoactive effects. Knowing this lets you make smarter choices before you even start.

Choosing your product is like choosing your vehicle for a road trip. A fast vape is a sports car for a quick, thrilling ride. A slow-acting edible is like a comfortable camper van, built for a long, scenic, and immersive journey.

Your Cannabis High Questions, Answered As you get more familiar with cannabis, some questions are bound to pop up. It’s totally normal, especially when you’re trying to dial in the perfect experience. We've put together some straightforward answers to the questions we hear most often.

How Long Do the Stages of Being High Last? This is one of the biggest variables, and it all comes down to how you consume. If you're using inhaled methods like smoking or vaping, the entire ride is much quicker. You’ll feel the effects almost instantly, and the whole experience—from onset to comedown—usually wraps up in about 1-3 hours.

Edibles, on the other hand, are a whole different ballgame. Because your body digests them through the liver, they take much longer to kick in, sometimes anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. This leads to a much more drawn-out experience, often lasting 4-8 hours or even longer.

What Should I Do If My High Feels Too Intense? If things ever feel a bit too much, the first and most important step is to just breathe. Remind yourself that the feeling is only temporary and it will pass. The goal is to find your center and avoid letting panic take over.

Find a safe, quiet space where you can relax. Put on some calming music or a favorite movie to distract yourself. Staying hydrated and having a light snack can also work wonders to help you feel more grounded.

Some people also find that a little bit of CBD can help take the edge off an intense THC experience, acting like a gentle counter-balance. Just focus on riding it out comfortably.

What Is the Best Way to Experience These Stages as a First-Timer? If you’re new to cannabis, there's one golden rule: "start low and go slow." Seriously. There's no need to rush.

Look for a product with a lower THC content to start. That could mean a flower strain that’s under 15% THC, or an edible with a small dose of just 2.5-5mg of THC.

Taking a single, small puff from a joint or vape is a great way to start, since you’ll feel the effects quickly and have more control. Wait at least 15-20 minutes to see how you feel before even thinking about taking another. And always, always make sure you’re in a comfortable place with people you trust. It's all about gently exploring the experience, not diving into the deep end.

Weedmaps +2 How to Achieve a Good Experience Start low and go slow: Edibles take 30 to 120 minutes to kick in. Wait at least 2 hours before consuming more.

Healthline Understand strains: Review resources like the Weedmaps THC Dosage Chart to understand how different intake methods (smoking vs. ingesting) affect the body. Mind your environment: Stay in a comfortable, familiar space with food, water, and non-committal activities (like watching a movie or listening to music). In terms of lung impact and smoke exposure, smoking one marijuana joint is roughly equivalent to smoking 2.5 to 5 cigarettes.

CBC Why They Compare This Way Tar and Smoke: Joints are usually smoked without a filter and down to a smaller stub, meaning the smoker inhales more tar and fine particles into the lungs.

ScienceDaily +1 Inhalation Style: People tend to take deeper puffs and hold the smoke in their lungs longer when smoking cannabis than they do with a regular cigarette. Being drunk feels like a mix of dizziness, warmth, and lowered self-control. It changes how your mind works, how your body moves, and how you feel emotions.Early Stages (The Buzz and Tipsy)Warmth and relaxation: Your face or chest may feel warm, and your body feels loose and cozy.Confidence: You may feel more outgoing, talk louder, and care less about what people think.Lightheadedness: A slight floaty or dizzy sensation starts in your head.Higher Intoxication (Being Drunk)Poor coordination: Walking straight becomes hard, your balance is off, and you might stumble. The spins: The room can feel like it is spinning around you, similar to standing up after spinning in a chair.Slurred speech: Your tongue feels heavy, and it is harder to pronounce words clearly.Blurred vision: Your eyes take longer to focus on things or adjust to lights.Mental ChangesPoor judgment: You make risky choices and lose your normal filters.Tunnel vision: It is hard to focus on more than one thing at a time.Nausea: If you drink too much or too fast, the dizziness turns into stomach sickness. You may notice things like slurred speech, blurred vision, feeling sick, or struggling to think clearly. Alcohol can also affect your mood, and you might become emotional, upset, or even aggressive.

Understanding the difference between feeling buzzed and being drunk is crucial for responsible alcohol consumption. While feeling buzzed may involve a mild alteration of perception and reduced inhibitions, being drunk indicates a more severe state of intoxication that impairs cognitive and physical function. Buzzed individuals typically experience a moderate release of inhibitions, leading to increased sociability and relaxation. However, they generally maintain some level of control over their behavior and decisions. In contrast, being drunk significantly impairs judgment, decision-making abilities, and self-control. This can result in risky behavior, poor decision-making, and a higher likelihood of engaging in accidents or dangerous situations.

You can tell you are feeling tipsy when you experience a light buzz, warmth in your body, and a relaxed or more talkative mood.

Healthline +2 Physical Signs A warm feeling in your face or chest. Mild lightheadedness or a slight spin. Slower body reactions or tiny changes in balance.

Healthline +3 Mental and Social Signs Feeling happier, more relaxed, or more confident. Talking more than usual or feeling extra friendly. Caring less about what people think, or having a shorter attention span.

When a person is drunk, alcohol lowers their brain's control center, leading to changes in speech, balance, mood, and actions. Because everyone reacts differently, a friend's intoxicated behavior usually falls into one of several common personality styles.Common Types of Drunk BehaviorThe Loud and Happy Drunk: Talks a lot, laughs at everything, hugs people, and acts as the life of the party. The Quiet or Sleepy Drunk: Becomes very calm, sits back, loses focus, and may doze off in a chair. The Emotional Drunk: Cries easily, shares deep feelings, or calls people late at night to talk about life. The Angry or Loud-Arguer: Gets easily upset, starts fights over small things, and shows poor control. The Clumsy Drunk: Drops cups, trips over steps, loses balance, and slurs their words.

Drunk people act with lowered inhibitions, poor balance, and slurred speech, often showing traits like over-confidence, sleepiness, or strong mood changes. Alcohol slows down the brain and affects the parts that control judgment and movement.

Agape Treatment Center +2 Physical Signs and Movement Poor balance: Swaying, stumbling, or staggering while trying to walk. Bad coordination: Dropping items, fumbling, or spilling drinks. Look and feel: Watery or red eyes, droopy eyelids, and a flushed face.

Agape Treatment Center +1 Speech and Thinking Slurred speech: Speaking slowly, mixing up words, or talking very loudly. Short memory: Repeating the same stories or forgetting things that just happened. Bad judgment: Doing risky or impulsive things without thinking about the results.

Agape Treatment Center +3 Personality and Mood Happy or loud: Giggling, being overly friendly, or acting very excited. Angry or rude: Getting upset easily or starting arguments over small things. Sad or quiet: Crying easily or becoming very sleepy and withdrawn.

Many people have affectionate impulses they don't normally act on due to social conventions, fear of rejection, or personal boundaries. When alcohol lowers these barriers, the underlying affection comes out.

When a person is cross-faded—meaning they are simultaneously drunk from alcohol and high from cannabis—their behavior usually shifts from a normal buzz to heavy, unpredictable impairment. Alcohol increases how fast THC enters the bloodstream, which often turns a fun time into a very intense or dizzy state.Physical SignsThe spins: They may complain that the room is spinning or look completely disoriented.Stumbling: Balance disappears fast, leading to heavy leaning, clumsy walking, or an inability to stand straight.Pale and clammy skin: Their face might turn pale, sweaty, or cold.Nausea: They often suddenly feel sick, quiet, or rushed toward the bathroom to throw up.Mental and Social ChangesGoing silent or freezing up: A talkative friend might turn completely quiet, stare blankly into space, or sink heavily into a couch.Sudden panic: The mix can trigger intense anxiety or paranoia, making them feel nervous, trapped, or scared for no clear reason.Slurred and slow speech: Conversations become hard to follow, trailing off into nonsense or repeated phrases.Heavy fatigue: A racing heart paired with extreme body heaviness can make them pass out or drop asleep very quickly.

For some, being crossfaded feels like a very intense, euphoric high. Others have experienced anything from increased anxiety, panic, and paranoia to nausea, dizziness, and “the spins.” Understand that no two people will react to the mixing of alcohol and drugs in the same way.

“Cross-faded” emerges as a commonly known term for effects of using multiple substances. It most often refers to using alcohol and marijuana simultaneously, and second-most to being drunk and high at the same time.

The result is a smooth and seamless blending of two different scenes, creating a brief moment of overlap. In film, a cross fade often serves as a bridge between two separate moments or settings, providing a fluid continuity that can evoke a range of emotions and implications.

Being crossfaded—being drunk and high at the same time—often starts with a warm, heavy buzz or extra euphoria, but it frequently shifts into intense physical and mental discomfort. Alcohol increases how fast your body absorbs THC, which makes the combined effects hit much harder and less predictably than either substance on its own.Physical EffectsThe spins: Severe dizziness and a heavy sense that the room is rotating.Nausea: Strong stomach upset, sweating, and cold or pale skin, often leading to a "green out".Heavy limbs: A deep, couch-locked body weight paired with a racing heart.Poor coordination: Total loss of balance and very slow reaction times.Mental EffectsRapid confusion: Thoughts become foggy, disconnected, and hard to track.

Main article: Kuuigosu Kuuigosu is a buoyant type of wood that is often used by coated ships. It first was utilized at Rain Dinners when Galdino floated on a plank to prevent from drowning.[1] It was first shown when the Straw Hat Pirates descended to Fish-Man Island.[2]

Arabasta Saga

Sakura (桜 or 櫻, Sakura?) (Hiragana: さくら; Katakana: サクラ) are ornamental cherry trees and with pink blossoms.

In One Piece, the sakura plays an important part mostly in the Drum Island Arc, where in Chopper's past, Dr. Hiriluk tried to make sakura bloom in the snow.[3] It eventually did, although he did not live to see it happen.[4]

Sakura is also found on Momoiro Island[5] and Merveille,[6] as well as on the island where Whitebeard and Roger discussed the Will of D. before the latter's death.[7]

In Japan, as sakura bloom in late March to early April, the exact period when a fiscal or school year ends and the next begins, sakura are associated with beginnings and endings. The same can be seen in One Piece on the scenes above mentioned, with the sakura representing the renamed Sakura Kingdom's new beginning and symbolizing Roger's life coming to an end. Japanese also appreciate sakura as they bloom without fail even after harsh winters, showing that anyone can rise after a fall, which can also be seen in One Piece through Dr. Hiriluk's faith that blooming sakura would save the country.

Amiudake

The Amiudake (アミウダケ, Amiudake?) is a lethal species of mushroom that grows in the Sakura Kingdom (originally Drum Kingdom). Anyone who ingests the fungus will die an hour after consumption. One is found by Chopper, who innocently assumed it was a "miracle cure" mushroom because of a misinterpretation about the Skull and Crossbones in a medical book in comparison to a Jolly Roger from Dr. Hiriluk, to cure his fatal disease. Dr. Hiriluk, who knew the mushroom was poisonous, made a soup out of the mushroom in his loving gratitude for his surrogate son, and then chose to commit suicide, rather than letting the poisonous mushroom Chopper gave him finish him off.

Mescal Cactus

Mescal Cactus (メスカルサボテン, Mesukaru Saboten?)[8] is a very small round cactus that causes hallucinations. It grows in the Sandora Desert.

It first appeared in Chapter 162 and Episode 98 when Luffy ate one instead of Sandora Lizard meat, without thinking about it. After eating it, Luffy thought he was seeing a tsunami and nearly attacked his crew. Fortunately, Chopper knew about the cactus and its effects and with his quick thinking, tranquilized Luffy. The effect had worn off by the time Luffy woke up.

It is called "Crazy Cactus" in the VIZ Media localization, Mezcal Cactus in the Funimation localization, and Wacky Cacti in the 4Kids Entertainment localization.

Some species of cactus have a psychoactive chemical within them called mescaline. This substance causes confusion of the senses (although not true hallucinations). This is most likely the origin of the mescal cactus's name.

Thousand-Year Trees (千年木, Sen'nen Boku?) are, according to Rice Rice, trees that grow on Eight Nine Island. He also proclaims that that's where the Thousand-Year Paper is made. It also lives for a thousand years, and that's where it got its name.[9]

Kona Tree

Kona Tree (コナの木, Kona no Ki?) is a type of tree found on Jaya and other areas.[12]

Kona Trees are tall and possess thin trunks and leafy branches.[12]

Within the bark of this tree is a substance known as Conine (コニーネ, Konīne?). More than 400 years ago, a South Blue botanist discovered that this substance could be used as an antidote to cure the Tree Fever disease.[13]

On Jaya, Mont Blanc Noland was able to use the Conine from a local Kona Tree to to treat the infected Shandia people.[14]

Oda confirmed in SBS Volume 32 that "Conine" and "Kona Tree" are inspired by Quinine (キニーネ, Kinīne?) found in the bark of Cinchona (キナの木, Kina no Ki?) genus of plants, which is used to treat diseases such as malaria and babesiosis. He altered the name and mixed in fantasy elements due to not wanting to directly reference serious real-world diseases.[15]

Interestingly, a chemical known as Conine does in fact exist; an alternate spelling for the poisonous alkaloid in Conium maculatum, also known as poison hemlock.

Tree of Knowledge

Main article: Tree of Knowledge The Tree of Knowledge was a gigantic 5,000-year-old tree located on the island of Ohara which served as a library and a hub for archaeologists from around the world.[16] It was destroyed by the World Government via a Buster Call.

Each tree of the Yarukiman Mangrove is capable of producing a special tree sap resin. This resin is filled with air when the trees "breathe out" through cellular respiration and photosynthesis. This results in the resin forming bubbles that float through the air.[18] The resin bubbles are solid enough that someone can jump on them without popping them, however they are also completely permeable, allowin
