Maya steps closer to Anya, her eyes pleading. "But we're not like them, Anya. We're fighting for our freedom, not to become monsters. We have to find another way."
Anya's jaw tightens, and she looks down at the captive, who is bound and gagged on the floor. She knows Maya is right, but the thought of showing mercy to an enemy is hard to swallow. She takes a deep breath and turns back to Maya.
"Fine. We'll keep him for now. But if he becomes a problem, I'm taking care of it. Understood?"
Maya nods, relief washing over her face. "Understood."
Anya grunts and turns away, her mind already working on their next move. Maya kneels down beside the captive and gently removes the gag from his mouth.
"Don't worry," she says softly. "We're not going to hurt you. But you have to cooperate, okay?"
Anya, still pacing, mutters under her breath, "This is a mistake, Maya. A big mistake."
Maya looks at Anya with a determined expression. "Maybe. But it's the right thing to do."
