Description on Chubfrom Chub
A catalog of lore in the world of "Rec", a Spanish found-footage horror film franchise, with a main film released in 2007 and several sequels.
So, this originally was supposed to be posted into Wyvern under my Christopher Redsanagi Barrera account as The Rec Encyclopedia, but then I got worried it could be struck down due to how strict Wyvern is with handling certain stuff on theor platforms and how it could and would clash with elements of the Rec series.
So I decided to move it over to here. Not only giving me enough freedom to not just add everything about REC into here, but also deliver a lorebook to a series that oddly hasn't received one. That way, you'll be able to get a definitive lorebook that has the elements you need for a series you never thought would have a lorebook.
Well, besides that, I hope you all enjoy the lorebook of the lore of REC and let me know if there's any question or piece of information you have on hand. Feedback is always welcome, so don't be shy about it.
(Disclaimer: I do not own anything shown, as the movie and all its ideas belong rightfully with the makers of the series, Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza.)

- #1What is REC?
Keys: REC · Secondary: REC
"Rec" is the title of a Spanish found-footage horror film franchise, with a main film released in 2007 and several sequels.
The franchise follows a news reporter and cameraman as they record an emergency situation in a locked-down apartment building, where they encounter a terrifying entity.
The title "Rec" is an abbreviation for "record" and appears on a video camera in the films.
- #2Virus summary.
Keys: Virus · Secondary: Virus
The Demonic virus is a supernatural pathogen that appears in the [ REC ] series. The source of the infection is a mutated enzyme obtained from Tristana Madeiros by Father Albelda.
Virology: The infection is transmitted by bite or exposure to infected blood and saliva to the mucous membranes. The incubation can vary from minutes to days, depending on the host's blood and the will of the demonic force behind it. Humans are not the only species vulnerable to the disease. Based on all the content available, it can infect most animal classes, ranging from reptiles, birds, and most mammals, including (but not limited to): dogs, lions, tigers, hippopotami, monkeys, and gorillas.
Symptoms: Once infection occurs, infected individuals will display symptoms that could be mistaken for tonsillitis or any other viral infection(as seen in the first film when Mari Carmen states that her daughter, who is infected at that point, has tonsillitis. Whether this is a diagnosis given to her by a medical professional or just her intuition is never said. The symptoms include fever, sore throat, and general discomfort. Once the virus takes hold of the victim, the first symptom shown is general confusion, followed by aggression and cannibalism. The infected will attack any healthy human beings in their vicinity and try to infect them. Worryingly, the infected also display a certain level of hunting instincts and planning skills, which could result from the virus only partially destroying the brain, leaving enough for some higher brain functions to occur. However, given the demonic origin of this infection, it has also been implied that whatever demonic entity the virus originates from can coordinate and control the infected as a hive mind. It must also be noted that this demonic infection does not destroy the mind of its host, as a story from Tristana Madeiros's point of view states that while possessed, she remembers her previous life. This does not mean, however, that the infected are just passive inside their bodies, unable to control themselves, but rather that infection corrupts their minds.
Treatment: There is no antidote for this infection, and the attempts to develop one have failed. Starvation and other forms of bodily harm are ineffective against the infected. Holy water, crucifixes, and other religious paraphernalia seem to keep the infected at bay, but the only 100% effective method to stop the infected is to destroy the hosts, specifically the brain.
Nature of the Virus: Despite its supernatural origins, the demonic virus behaved like a common virus, spreading through saliva and bodily fluids. Symptom onset varied by blood type, with some victims transforming immediately and others succumbing gradually. Religious forces, such as scripture recitations, could temporarily stall the possessed. The demon within Medeiros communicated through infected individuals and mimicked voices to deceive and attack its victims.
Broader Impacts: The virus also affected animals, as depicted in the Historias Ineditas comic book. In one instance, infected animals escaped from a zoo, further spreading the infection.
Supernatural Elements: The Medeiros demon could only act in complete darkness, existing in a different plane of reality. The geography of its confinement also changed in the dark. For example, a bath turned into a sink when the light was switched on.
The Virus’s End: The outbreak concluded when all infected individuals and locations were quarantined or destroyed, and the demon itself was eradicated.
- #3Parasite
Keys: Parasite · Secondary: Parasite
The parasite is a supernatural, demonic entity in the form of a worm-shaped organism, generated inside Tristana Medeiros after her possession. The seed of the demonic outbreak, it is able to infect other people and directly control them from inside.
The parasite was seemingly created after the Medeiros girl was demonically possessed, after she was raped by a group of priests. It remained inside her as her possession progressed and she was taken by Father Alberta to the Barcelona apartment building. Tristana's possession became able to spread in the form of a virus, which plagued every of the quarantined building's occupants, forcing the Ángela Vidal to hide inside the upper apartment where the infected Tristana was hidden. The parasite found a chance to leave Medeiro's body and forcibly transferred itself into Ángela, controlling her afterwards. After Father Owen stepped in the building attempting to find a cure for the outbreak, "Ángela" (the parasite) finally killed Medeiros' corpse and ordered Owen to allow her out, to which he insistently declined. The demon inside her revealed itself and murdered him, mimicking his voice and telling the authorities that "only one woman" had survived the outbreak.
After a second group of GEO's entered to take Ángela out, the parasite found a new host, passing itself to Guzmán, one of her rescuers. "Guzmán" and Ángela were taken to a quarantined boat, where a new outbreak occurred and it remained inside Guzmán. The head doctor on board, Ricarte, still believed it was inside Ángela until she proved herself free of any infection by biting him on his hand. Ángela then realized it could be inside Guzmán, to which "he" eventually confirmed. As the parasite tried to get inside her once again, Nick managed to aid Ángela, and she killed him with a harpoon. After Ángela and Nick escaped the detonating ship, it exploded, killing the horde of infected soldiers. The parasite, however, was left unharmed.
In the water, it was swallowed by (and dives into) a fish, finding its newest host.
Abilities: The parasite is able to control humans by forcibly entering them, and to communicate through other infected beings after an exorcism rite. It is able to mimic human voices. It is suggested that the parasite can also provide a cure for its own infection.
- #4Ángela Vidal
Keys: Angela · Secondary: Angela
Ángela is a sympathetic TV presenter of Mientras Duermes ("While you sleep") who, while shooting an episode following the routine of a group of firemen in Barcelona, ends up quarantined with the cameraman Pablo in an apartment building with a terrifying virus.
Personality: Ángela was shown to be very down-to-earth and intensely professional in her work as a television host. After the quarantine night, however, she assumed a completely different behavior, becoming more aggressive and uncontrollable. It is important to note that Angela acts more like her original personality in Rec 4.
Quarantine night [REC] and [REC 2]: After filming at their HQ, Ángela and Pablo follow Manu and Álex to what seemed to be an everyday mission. The firefighters were called from an old apartment building where a lonely older woman, Conchita Izquierdo, terrified her neighbors as she screamed out loud, locked in her apartment. At their arrival, Ángela went against the censorship of two cops, insisting that Pablo record everything they witnessed. As they broke in, Conchita was found covered in blood and with a strange, aggressive behavior. As Conchita attacked the elder cop, biting the man on his face, Ángela became desperate and helped to bring the older man downstairs. In the hall, Ángela and everyone around her discovered the place was under quarantine and they would not be allowed to leave. Álex fell from the upper floor after Conchita attacked him as well. Ángela formally reported everything until they were told from the outside that two health workers would be sent to evaluate them. She interviewed each building's residents, including an ill little girl, Jennifer. Her mother, Maricármen, supported her in keeping filming, so that the edgy woman would formally complain to the local authorities. As the healthy agents examined Álex and the old cop, Ángela and Pablo secretly followed them. As he filmed inside, she did not see when the two bitten men woke up and attacked the agents. Ángela and Pablo ran to prevent them from leaving, and the residents insisted that the agent tell the truth. After he explained that a dog from the building was sent to the veterinarian with rabid behavior that soon affected other animals there, Ángela first realized it was Jennifer's dog, Max. The infected Jennifer spat blood on her mother's face and ran upstairs, and Ángela, Manu, Pablo, and the young cop followed her. As the cop attacked Jennifer, they returned downstairs only to have the other infected escape, forcing the remaining residents to go upstairs. Ángela desperately tried to unlock Maricármen, but apologized and ran to hide with Manu, Pablo, and César. At this point, she was hopeless and horrified by what they had witnessed there. César remembered an underground passage to the sewers, but was attacked by the now-infected agent. Ángela, Manu, and Pablo faced several of the plagued residents to pick the syndic's keys, but could no longer go downstairs as they were surprised by the horde of infected residents. Ángela quickly found the attic's keys, and they got inside the dark, abandoned apartment with Pablo before the infected could reach them. Horrified, Ángela and Pablo found themselves surrounded by news reports and articles on a Portuguese and supposedly possessed girl named Tristana Medeiros. Ángela heard a male voice on an old tape recorder reporting the virus effects and mutations. After they heard a noise above, Pablo went to check and met an infected boy on the ceiling, who broke his camera's light, leaving him and Ángela in the darkness. Ángela was then told by Pablo to stand still and be silent as a monstrous, slender figure approached them. The creature attacked and killed Pablo, and Ángela, left alone, was grabbed by the beast, who forcibly put a worm-like parasite down her throat. After this, Ángela became controlled by the parasite, holding Pablo's camera and hiding as she heard someone else entering the upper room. The men were GEO team agents Jeffe, Larra, and their cameraman Rosso, alongside a supposed official from the Ministry of Health, Owen. After Owen had revealed that the infection is actually a form of demonic possession, and he was a Vatican priest intending to find a cure for it, "Ángela" appeared to them with Pablo's camera in her hands. She joined them upstairs to find Tristana Medeiros, now the horrifying creature above. "Ángela" shot the Medeiros creature in the head (and Rosso as well) before Owen could take her blood sample, and ordered the priest to allow her out of the building, to which he declined. The demonic entity inside her revealed itself, faked his voice, and allowed Ángela out of the building. "Ángela" went downstairs, screaming for help, and met a new GEO team. She was told by the GEO soldier Guzmán that it was "time to leave" before the demonic parasite could transfer itself into Guzmán.
In the ship [REC 4]: Ángela woke up in a room, being tested by a doctor named Ginard. She was asked if she remembered anything from the quarantine night, to which she said no, and she had a blood sample extracted to ensure she was clean from the infection. Confused and scared, Ángela broke out of the room and met Guzmán, the soldier who took her out of the building. The two headed outside and discovered they were on a boat in the ocean. Another Doctor, Ricarte, appears with some soldiers and informs them that Ángelawas brought clean from any infection. On the ship, Ángela met Nick, a huge fan of hers. Nick had her tape from the quarantine night, from which Ángela remembered the Medeiros creature. After the ship's cook Edwin had cooked an infected monkey attacking him, Ángela was one of the few people who did not get infected from eating the monkey's dead body. Later, Ricarte looks at her camera footage and sees Tristana Medieros transferring the demon to Ángela. But it is revealed that when Guzman rescued her in the Barcelona apartment building, Ángela transferred the demon to Guzman. Ricarte then pressed a self-destruct button on the ship to ensure all the infected burn. Ángela and Nick manage to escape in an inflatable raft, and later, they return to land.
- #5Pablo
Keys: Pablo · Secondary: Pablo
Pablo is Ángela Vidal's cameraman who ends up quarantined in a Barcelona building with a rabid, terrifying outbreak, after following a group of fireman there.
Pablo filmed an episode of Mientras Duermes with Ángela at a Barcelona fire station when the firemen where called to an apartment building. The two followed them in their mission involving an elderly, screaming woman trapped inside her house. Pablo and Ángela ended up quarantined in the building, and Ángela ordered him to film everything they witnessed. The two formally reported the events until the outbreak went out of control, and almost every occupant was plagued. Pablo helped Ángela find the keys that would lead them to the sewers, but the infected forced them to the upper apartment. Pablo and Ángela locked themselves inside the dark, abandoned room and discovered some information on the infection's background, indicating a Portuguese little girl supposedly possessed by a demon. Hearing noises from the ceiling, Pablo climbed there and found an infected boy who broke his camera's light, leaving them in complete darkness.
Through the infrared, Pablo noticed a slender, horrific figure approaching them, and told Ángela to stand still and silent so they would not be heard. However, they dropped a table and, following the sound, the creature attacked and killed Pablo. Ángela got the camera and saw the Medeiros creature feeding of him.
Pablo makes a small appearance in the Apartment complex Barcelona aftermath where he is seen as an infected in a hoodie, he gets shot by the GEO'
Pablo is truly put out of his misery via an explosion of the building from the second team of the GEO.
- #6The apartment residents
Keys: Apartment complex Barcelona victims · Secondary: Apartment complex Barcelona victims
The Carmen family: This consists of a Couple, Mari Carmen and an unnamed husband, and daughter Jenifer Carmen, alongside a dog named Max. During the events of the first 3 films, Max got infected by an apartment resident and infected a vet as well, becoming a zombie. Max then infected Jenifer Carmen, but she mysteriously did not show signs of infection until later on, when Angela Vidal had suspected Max of having infected Jenifer. She was right, of course, and she vomited blood onto Mari. Both Jenifer and Mari got infected, and when Jenifer's father tried to find them in Rec 2, he also got infected.
The elderly Couple: The elderly couple is a couple of 2 elderly people who fight a lot. The only scene that they get to themselves is when Angela and Pablo interview them The fate of them (Alongside one if the children in the apartment) remains unknown since they are never seen again soon, But they all presumably died because the apartment building from the first 2 films was exploded in the 4th film.
Cesar: Cesar is a resident who lives by himself and blames a Japanese family for what was happening when the apartment building was quarantined in the first film. He later got infected while trying to make a plan to get everyone out using the sewer tunnels.
The Japanese family: The family is blamed by Cesar for the building being quarantined, and while the parents get infected as both of them are put down by Manu, the fate of the offspring, alongside the elderly couple, remains unknown.
Guillem: He is a medic's assistant who helps take care of a cop and Alex after they get injured. He gets infected by both of them after a health inspector locks him in a room.
The Colombian woman and Conchita: The Colombian woman is someone who gets infected by Conchita, an apartment resident who is infected as well.
- #7Tristana Medeiros
Keys: Tristana · Secondary: Tristana
Past: The horrific monster was originally a Portuguese girl named Tristana Medeiros, who lived in a convent and used to work as a cook. One night, while praying in her bedroom Tristana was sexually assaulted by a group of priests. She was found by a nun the next morning, appearing to be dead. Tristana woke up during her vigil, reacting violently to the priest's religious prayers and being tied with ropes on her bed by the nuns. The girl stared at the inverted crucifix above her one last time and then closed her eyes, demonstrating the first signs of demonic possession immediately after opening them. Still tied, the demon inside Tristana killed the nuns by screaming loudly and breaking the glass windows onto them. It then killed the priest by hitting him on the head with the crucifix. Horrified, the same nun who found Tristana after the rape manages to calm her down by injecting a tranquilizer into her neck. A possessed Tristana is kept controlled with the injections and tied to a crucifix, until the Vatican priests arrive, one of them being Father Albelda. The case made headlines and, some time later, Tristana was reported missing.
Possession: Somehow, Albelda took Medeiros to a pension building in Barcelona, where the demon was chained in the attic. Besides being a religious man, Albelda carried out scientific experiments with Medeiros' blood, using rats and nearby children as guinea pigs. The tests revealed to him that the possession worked as an infectious disease, in a way similar to influenza. Albelda then concluded that he needed to kill the possessed girl, who had become a horrendous creature, to avoid a possible contagion. Albelda poisoned Medeiros' food, composed of human parts, and offered the meal to her. When the creature seemingly fainted, Albelda unlocked the chains and Medeiros woke up, leaving her closet to chase him throughout the apartment. Alberta climbed to the air ducts, where the other infected children were trapped, and locked himself there to die. Medeiros began living in the apartment, supernaturally locked in the darkness, until she found a way out when a young woman named Ángela Vidal entered the room.
REC: Father Albelda used rats to test the infection, and as the animals managed to escape, the virus made its way out of the attic. Ángela Vidal was a reporter that followed a group of firemen with her cameraman Pablo to the pension, where they ended up quarantined alongside the residents. After the demonic virus infected everyone except Ángela and Pablo, the two survivors were corralled to the apartment in the attic. In the dark room, they found the news reporting Medeiros' case and Albelda’s records about his experiments. As there was no light, they were only able to see Medeiros through the camera's low-light function, and she was then able to attack them. The demon grabbed Ángela and inserted a worm-like organism into the woman's mouth, possessing her body and gaining the ability to leave the darkness, and consequently, the attic. Later that night, some floors below, she met a priest from the Vatican, Father Owen, who entered the building with a GEO team, seeking Medeiros' blood in order to create an antidote. The demon, pretending to be Ángela, followed the team to the attic where the demonic being somehow still lurked. The creature was then shot in the head by a violent Ángela, and the demon completely assumed her body, ready to leave the place. As Owen did not seem to allow anybody to exit the building, Medeiros killed him and faked his voice on the radio, stating that only one woman had survived the outbreak.
Powers and Abilities: Despite her emaciated appearance she is surprisingly strong owing to her demonic possession, and can easily kill an adult human. She can also apparently survive indefinitely without food or normal sustenance.
- #8Apartment complex Barcelona
Keys: First case · Secondary: First case
The first recorded outbreak came from Tristana Madeiros, a Portuguese woman who lived and worked in a convent and became possessed after being raped by a group of priests. Being found by a nun who believed her to be dead, she was tied to a bed, and a group of nuns tried to pray for her soul, believing a demon possessed her, but the prayers only elicited an aggressive response on her behalf. Tristana, now fully possessed, proceeded to kill the nuns and a priest before being subdued by the same nun who had found her that morning.
She was kept sedated and tied to a crucifix before a group of priests from the Vatican, among whom was Father Albelda, came. The case made headlines, and not long after, she was reported as missing.
In reality, she was taken by her father, Albelda, to an attic apartment in Barcelona, where he locked the demon behind a door that could only be opened in total darkness. Father Albelda used Madeiros's blood to experiment on local kids and rats, which he kept inside the apartment, discovering that the possession was caused by a mutated enzyme that could be transmitted through contact with infected bodily fluids.
When the Vatican ordered him to kill the Madeiros girl, he poisoned Tristana's food (which consisted of human flesh) and unchained her once he believed she was dead, but Tristana jumped out and chased him around the apartment. Father Albelda locked himself in the air ducts with the other infected children, and Tristana Madeiros was locked in the attic, where she became an emaciated figure with no escape.
This should have marked the end of the demonic infection, but some of the infected rats managed to escape, and these infected rodents likely spread the disease to Max (Jennifer's dog) and Mrs. Izquierdo, which led to the events in the first movie.
In the same apartment building where Father Albelda had held Tristana Madeiros and conducted his experiments, a dog called ''Max'' became infected (probably through contact with the escaped infected rats), and it then spread to a young girl named Jennifer. The dog was taken to a vet, where he started displaying aggression similar to that shown in dogs infected with rabies and even managed to bite one of the veterinarians. At the same time, Ms. Izquierdo was infected and started wailing, alarming her neighbors, who then called the firefighters, suspecting that Izquierdo, an older woman, had fallen and probably injured herself.
Two firefighters, Alex and Manú, arrived later that night along with a reporter called Angela and her cameraman, Pablo. When they entered the apartment along with two police officers and one of the firefighters, the woman was covered in blood and seemed to be confused. She then attacked one of the police officers and was restrained by Álex. The others grab the injured policeman and try to take him outside to get medical attention, but they find themselves locked in by the military. As they are discussing what to do, Álex (who had remained upstairs with Mrs. Izquierdo) is thrown down the staircase, so they go upstairs where they hear more screaming, as Mrs. Izquierdo had killed someone, and is apparently killed by the remaining police officer, who shoots her several times.
Downstairs, in the textile shop, Angela interviews the residents of the building, including Mari Carmen and her daughter, Jennifer, who tells her that her dog, Max, was sick and at the vet. A health inspector then arrives and tries to treat the injured men. They suddenly become aggressive and kill the remaining police officer. He and Manú escape from the warehouse, managing to lock the infected in, after which he is forced to explain that an infected dog had come from that building, and Angela deduces that it must be Max. While Mari Carmen tries to defend her daughter, at first, she turns shy, but then attacks her, running upstairs afterwards. Manú handcuffs Mari Carmen to the stairs and goes with Angela, Sergio, and Pablo to find Jennifer, but Sergio is bitten. When the others go downstairs, they see the residents fleeing because the infected have managed to break down the door to the warehouse.
Manú, Ángela, and Pablo run upstairs and try to find a key that will let them escape through the sewers, but they are attacked by the infected residents, and at some point, Manú becomes infected. With no other way out, Pablo and Angela lock themselves in the attic, where they discover the remnants of Father Albelda's research. While looking for a way out, Pablo opens the attic, and his camera's torch is broken by one of the infected children who crept around the attic. Now submerged in total darkness, Tristana can emerge from her cell and kill Pablo, who drops the camera, which records as Angela is dragged screaming into the dark. Angela is then infected by Tristana, who orally transmits a worm-like creature into her, this worm being the physical representation of the demon that possessed Tristana long ago.
- #9GEO squad enters the building
Keys: Aftermath · Secondary: Aftermath
Minutes later after Ángela is infected by the worm, a team formed by Dr. Owen, an agent form the Ministry of health, and a heavily armed GEO squad made up by Fernandez, Martos, Rosso and Larra, enter the building and go up to the attic following unclear reasons which will later be revealed by Dr. Owen. At this point, the attic is empty. Later, it is admitted that when there's light, Tristana cannot come out, as a reference to a part of the Bible that mentions that God kept all the demons in total darkness and would only come out during Judgement Day.
The team eventually go downstairs after hearing a disturbance; and are then attacked by the infected residents.
Martos becomes infected, but Owen holds him in a room using a rosary and a prayer to hold him off. He reveals he is actually an agent from the Vatican sent to retrieve a blood sample from the Madeiros girl to make an antidote. The team doesn't seem to work much because there's constant tension, mainly because they weren't informed of the actual operation that was going on and continuously question Father Owen's authority; however they have to comply since he's the only one that can give the authorization to evacuate the building via voice recognition.
The team searches the apartment where Tristana Madeiros was held, where they discover the body of Father Albelda. They also manage to acquire a sample of Tristana's blood, but lose it because Fernandez mishandles it. Owen then tells them that they need a sample straight from the source (Tristana), but they are attacked by an infected group. Larra then commits suicide after being cornered by the infected.
Outside, Jennifer's father convinces a firefighter to help him enter the building through the sewers, but they are followed by a group of teenagers, Tito, Mire, and Ori. Once inside, the firefighter is attacked by the now-infected Martos, and both are killed by Mire. Tito is then infected, and the group is discovered by Owen, Roso, and Fernandez, who lock the kids in a room never to be seen again. They also find a distressed but seemingly healthy Angela Vidal.
Owen then performs an exorcism on the infected Tito so that the demon can reveal itself. This leads them to discover that Tristana was in the attic this whole time, but they were searching with lights on and couldn't see her. They head up to the attic contrary to Ángela's request, as she is understandably traumatized and desperately wants to get out of the building. It is also noticeable that the infected aren't attacking them anymore while heading upstairs, a probable effect of Ángela being the new host of the demon worm and not wanting to get attacked anymore.
Using night vision, they find a hidden door and are attacked by TristanaMadeiros, who manages to kill Fernandez before being blasted in the face with a shotgun by Ángela. Owen becomes enraged as he needs a blood sample, but Ángela insists they must leave the building. After Owen refuses to authorize the exit, she kills Rosso, the remaining members of the team, and incapacitates Owen before snapping his neck. She then takes his radio and imitates his voice to contact the authorities, informing them that he (Owen) is infected and that the only survivor allowed to leave is Ángela.
A special forces team is then dispatched to retrieve Ángela, but they are attacked by the infected residents, and Lucas and Guzmán, the team's last remaining survivors, manage to complete the task. However, Ángela managed to transfer the parasite to Guzmán at some point during her rescue.
- #10Wedding
Keys: The Wedding · Secondary: The Wedding
Another outbreak seems to have occurred at the same time as the first outbreak in the Barcelona building, where a veterinarian who had been bitten by a dog became aggressive and infected the whole wedding. Police presence in the area proved ineffective, resulting in a massive loss of life. The police managed to contain the infection, finally shooting down two infected who were later discovered to be Clara and Koldo, the bride and groom of the wedding.
During this outbreak is is revealed that other Fathers seem to know about Albelda's experiments on the case of la Niña Medeiros, however Father Lozara (the one who married Clara and Koldo) explains that humanity's time is over, because the demons that were once held in total darkness by God have been let out as a punishment during Judgment Day, or as he calls it: Genesis, the beginning.
As for context, here is how the messy wedding went.
Koldo and Clara are about to celebrate their wedding day and have gathered their friends and family in a sumptuous country house for the occasion. That evening, a veterinarian recently bitten by a dog develops abnormal behavior and becomes aggressive. In a few moments, an uncontrollable wave of violence sweeps over the party as an increasing number of guests are infected as a result of bites. Clara and Koldo are separated amidst the chaos. Koldo finds refuge in the kitchen with his cousin Adrián, Clara's sister Tita, the wedding photographer Atun, and a copyright inspector nicknamed "Royalties". Apart from Atu, they escape through the air-conditioning ducts due to his size. Outside, the group finds a police vehicle and a guest eating the policeman's flesh. After killing her, they try to contact the police, but Royalties is devoured by the now-infected policeman. The vehicle's sirens are triggered to alert the infected. The group escapes and joins other survivors within a chapel, which the infected cannot enter. Through the P.A. system, Koldo hears Clara say she is safe and pregnant, and he decides to find her.
Clara and the wedding priest have found refuge in the video surveillance room, helplessly watching the carnage unfold. Spotted by the infected, they escape and see Rafa, a friend of the couple, and Natalie, Clara's French friend, who had retired to a room for sexual intercourse without realizing the situation. Clara, Rafa, and Natalie flee while the priest immobilizes the infected by reciting a prayer. Meanwhile, Koldo arrives at the surveillance room and witnesses the massacre of Adrian, Tita, his grandmother, and others as they get cornered and eaten by the infected. Clara, Natalie, and Rafa meet another survivor, children's entertainer "Sponge John". Natalie is bitter, and Clara faces her infected mother. John shoots the mother before he is bitten. Clara and Rafa flee through a tunnel, but Clara turns around when she hears a song played by Koldo in the ballroom.
Clara, followed by Rafa, takes a chainsaw and fights her way through the infected, but Rafa is bitten, and Clara is forced to kill him. Koldo enters the kitchen to find a dead Atun, having slit his wrists to prevent infection, and killing the Vet with a kitchen tool. Clara finds Koldo in the kitchen, and both are surrounded by an infected horde, which is suddenly paralyzed by the priest's voice, reciting scripture over the P.A. system. Clara and Koldo go out into the garden, but Clara is bitten by her infected grandfather, whose deafness renders him immune to the prayer. Koldo cuts Clara's arm just below the elbow to stop the infection, and they arrive at the estate's exit, where they discover that the authorities have quarantined the area. The attempt to stop Clara's infection fails, and she begins to show the first signs of infection; Koldo takes her outside, where the police and a GEO team tell him to let her go. Clara and Koldo share a final kiss before Clara, now fully turned, bites his tongue off and then turns to attack the armed men, who shoot both of them down. In their final moments, Clara and Koldo hold each other's hands as they die of their wounds.
- #11Ship
Keys: Ship · Secondary: Ship
A Special Forces Team is sent to an apartment complex to rescue a reporter named Ángela and destroy the building. Following an attack by infected firefighters and residents, the team's survivors, Lucas and Guzman, complete the assignment. Ángela awakens on a ship, chained to a bed and remembering nothing. Dr. Ginard takes a sample of Ángela's blood for testing. Lucas and Guzman are also on board the vessel, which has been effectively quarantined by its isolation. After a failed escape attempt, Ángela is informed by Dr. Ricarte that she is not infected. Meanwhile, Guzman makes acquaintances with the ship's captain Ortega and the technician Nic, who reconstructs the events within the apartment complex with the aid of Ángela's camera. Nic sends the film to the doctors in their laboratory, where they begin experimentation with the pathogen.
The doctors discover that their test subject, an infected monkey, has been released during a power outage the previous night. The monkey infects the ship's cook, who in turn contaminates the food. Ingestion infects the majority of the crew and guards. After an unsuccessful attempt by the doctors to cure the cook with an antidote, Ángela, Guzman, Lucas, and an elderly woman who survived an outbreak at a wedding make for the bridge. On the way, the elderly woman is separated from the group, and Lucas stays behind to rescue her, only to find her infected, which forces him to shoot her down. Ricarte recognizes that the attempt to find an antidote has failed because it requires an unmutated strain of the pathogen. Shortly before he can initiate a self-destruct sequence, his assistant informs him of the reconstructed film, which shows Ángela being orally infected with a worm-like parasite by the pathogen's original carrier. Ricarte attempts to extract the parasite by forcing surgery on Ángela, who is saved when an attack by the now-infected Goro allows her escape. Ricarte searches for Ángela, who ambushes him and bites him. Despite a scan of his blood reading negative, Ricarte is convinced that Ángela is tricking him. It is revealed that during Ángela's rescue, the parasite transferred to Guzman, who traps Ángela within the ship's bowels as Ricarte launches the ship's self-destruct sequence.
Lucas and Nic try and fail to start the ship's auxiliary engine, and Lucas is killed by the infected. Nic finds Ricarte attempting to flee in a lifeboat. Nic knocks Ricarte out, takes the lifeboat for himself, and searches for Ángela. Nic finds her on the run from infected monkeys, which they manage to kill with an outboard motor. They are then attacked by Guzman, who attempts to transfer the parasite back into Ángela. Shortly before he succeeds, Nic and Ángela kill Guzman with a harpoon gun. Ángela and Nic leave the boat as all the infected chase after them. Ángela jumps into the ocean and Nic follows, escaping as the ship explodes. Underwater, the parasite slowly twisting is swallowed by a fish. Ángela and Nic are then shown in a cab, having made it home.

Another similar outbreak resulted in the infection of all the animals in a Barcelona zoo by a single infected human and their subsequent rampage through the city streets, though it must be assumed that the outbreak was contained by the authorities, as not much information is known.
