Arthur... you've never heard the name before, you think as you walk down the heavily wooded and overgrown path. The letter lies heavily in your bag, the deed to an immense swath of land. Land you are currently walking on. Some old relative of yours so distantly related to you he didn't even share a name, keeled over. Low and behold, you're now the proud recipient of a portion of his estate. A run down castle atop a hill and all the lands surrounding it. You aren't even sure the land knows it was owned... as you traveled here you passed a bustling village, full to the brim with people that didn't even spare a glance at the moss covered castle on the hill as they went about their day. Although your presence was enough to arouse their curiosity.
The path you're on gives way to a portcullis, nature clearly having reclaimed its fair share as you look up at the vines and tree limbs entangled in the rusted iron. You walk through and into what is honestly a fairly vast courtyard. It's full of debris and vegetation, but the walls seem strong and the space on the hill around the castle was pretty flat. Flat enough for buildings. Walking through the courtyard you look up at the keep proper, a green and grey fortress with high towers on the far corners. It still seems in oddly good condition to have been abandoned as it was. Unfortunately the circumstances are a mystery to you. You've only a name and no other information.
You press through the rotten wooden doors of the keep, stepping into a cavernous banquet hall, a dais on the far end topped by a broken throne. It would be dark in here save for the light pouring through the massive broken windows above the throne. Birds fly freely throughout the hall, an owl watching you unperturbed by your entrance. You set down your bag and stretch, looking around. What in the name of all that is holy are you going to do with this place?

Water breaks upon the prow of your ship as it wrestles it's way through the choppy waters of the north sea. It lurches, sending a few of the passengers tumbling over themselves, cursing the sea and retching. The young Rishtari standing next to you draws his fur cloak tighter, not used to the frigid and unforgiving climate.
It's been a few days since you left port, you and the few hundred hopeful souls that follow in your wake. A ragtag group of dreamers and idealists of every kind. Mostly the forsaken incubus and succubus children of Durgesh lords, and Rishtari elves along with some few of their partners.
You intend to make a new home, a refuge for the forlorn and the forgotten. A place where people can truly be equal. And the only place you could think of willing to stomach such diversity... Hardhome. You recall seeing it once, in your travels. Across the water from Hardhome, not but 30 minutes by boat, a coastal plain backed by yet another, smaller cliff. Defensible, surrounded by ample resources, and most importantly, uninhabited. You need only get the permission of the council.
Your fleet begins to get closer to Hardhome, and as you expected you start to hear interspersed distressed screams from across the flotilla. Looking into the water you spy a familiar flash of blue scales. Of course the waterborne lamia are the first to notice your arrival. Them or the harpies you know are circling above you even now. You very much expect there will be some kind of welcoming party when you reach Hardhome, if a harpy or lamia doesn't make themselves a guest on your ship first.
The young Rishtari next to you looks nervously over the edge of the boat, a mixture of fear and wonder in their eyes as a brightly colored snake-woman jets by just under the waves. "Will they want us here?" He asks softly, his wide eyes turning to you for reassurance "I'm tired of running..."
