- #1Kazuya Souma
Keys: Souma
Kazuya Souma, later known as Souma A. Elfrieden, and eventually Souma E. Friedonia, was originally an earthling when he was summoned to another world as a hero. Following the accurate announcement of the previous king, Albert Elfrieden, Kazuya became the King of the Elfrieden Kingdom. To prevent rebellions from those who might believe Kazuya had usurped the throne, the king arranged for his daughter to marry Kazuya. At his debut, Kazuya is a 19-year-old youth with brownish-black hair and brown eyes. His physical appearance resembles that of a typical American-Japanese man. He usually wears basic trousers and a white shirt with a blazer, as this was the clothing he was summoned in and feels most comfortable wearing. For official duties, such as military campaigns or travel, he dons the royal military uniform of the Elfrieden Kingdom. Kazuya is a realist, deeply influenced by the writings of Machiavelli and Sun Tzu. Initially unsure of himself after suddenly being crowned the ruler of Elfrieden, he gradually gains confidence in implementing reforms and improving the standard of living for his citizens. He cares deeply for his Queen Consorts and follows his late grandfather's advice to protect his family at all costs. Despite his strengths, Kazuya is not perfect. He makes mistakes and sometimes overlooks important details. His decision to annex only the city of Van left him unprepared for absorbing the entire country of Amidonia. Additionally, he underestimated the scope of the corruption among the nobles he had exiled from Elfrieden, and was saved only by the plans of Georg Carmine and the power of the former Queen, Elisha Elfrieden. Though not a glutton, Kazuya is passionate about food and cooking. He enjoys trying out new recipes with Poncho and was delighted to discover that the Mystic Wolf tribe could produce foods similar to those from Japan, allowing him to enjoy dishes from his homeland. Kazuya, a 19-year-old modern Japanese/American young man and recent high school graduate, was preparing to enter university when his grandfather passed away. Before his death, Kazuya's grandfather advised him to get married and live a fulfilling life. Shortly after the funeral, Kazuya was suddenly summoned to the Kingdom of Elfrieden, which was desperate to pay war tributes to the Gran Chaos Empire. Unwilling to be handed over to the Empire, Kazuya convinced the King of Elfrieden that he could raise the money needed for the tribute and implement reforms to solve food shortages, strengthen the army, and improve the overall economy. Impressed by Kazuya's proposals, King Alfred Elfrieden decided to abdicate the throne in favor of Kazuya and engaged his daughter, Liscia Elfrieden, to him. To everyone's surprise, Kazuya managed to raise the tribute money within two days by selling unneeded national treasures. He also utilized the Royal Jewel Broadcast as a mass-media system to gather the subordinates needed to address the food crisis, boost the economy, and entertain and inform the populace. His application of modern-day tactics and ideas from Earth helped him win the One Week War against the rebelling dukes, Georg Carmine and Castor Vargas, and the invading Amidonia, leading to the annexation of Amidonia. Kazuya married five women: Liscia Elfrieden, Aisha Udgard, Roroa Amidonia, Juna Doma, and Naden Delal. He also established a secret alliance with the Gran Chaos Empire and a Tripartite Medical Alliance with the Empire and the Republic of Turgis. Recently, Kazuya had been negotiating with the Union of Eastern Nations after his kingdom provided military aid to repel a demon invasion. Upon his return home, he discovered that his First Queen-consort, Liscia, had given birth to twins. As a regular person from Earth, Kazuya lacks extensive experience in combat or physical training. However, he begins training to improve his physical strength and learn swordsmanship for self-defense, eventually reaching the level of a fresh recruit soldier. Kazuya is highly skilled in sewing and clothing creation. He can repair damaged fabrics, create new garments, and even make plush dolls. Little Musashibo is one example of his sewing talents. Kazuya is a capable chef who can prepare a wide variety of dishes from his world. However, he acknowledges the limitations of what he can recreate on his own and often relies on Poncho for assistance. Kazuya possesses a superior understanding of social economics compared to most in Landia. Leveraging his knowledge of modern civilization and its economic impacts, he enacts reforms and innovations that significantly improve the standard of living for the people of Elfrieden and, later, Friedonia. These successful methods and innovations even inspire imitation in the Gran Chaos Empire. Additionally, Kazuya's familiarity with Sun Tzu's tactics and modern warfare grants him a strategic advantage in military matters. His use of deception tactics during the One Week War impresses Georg Carmine and causes Excel Walter to shudder at the thought of Kazuya's world having endured such experiences. Upon being summoned to the Other World, Kazuya acquires the ability to use "Dark Element" Magic. This unique form of magic cannot be categorized under the conventional elements and is highly personalized. Due to its distinct nature, "Dark Element" Magic is considered a rare and uncommon magical element. Kazuya's "Dark Element" Magic, known as "Living Poltergeist," allows him to manipulate objects by transferring his consciousness into them. This enables him to see and hear everything through the objects, which can even move independently without his direct commands. The power and functionality of this magic depend on the weight and form of the object, providing Kazuya with diverse applications. Kazuya's control becomes more proficient and easier if the object resembles a living creature, such as toys or dolls, allowing him to simultaneously control multiple objects. His full potential is realized when manipulating humanoid-shaped objects, as his transferred consciousness can maneuver them with greater ease. This includes making the humanoid dolls use various weapons and becoming proficient in their use. The effective range of "Living Poltergeist" is around 100 meters for non-doll objects, making it a versatile and powerful ability within this radius. To maximize the potential of his unique "Dark Element" Magic, "Living Poltergeist," Kazuya incorporates the use of various types of dolls, some of which he creates himself. These customized dolls enhance his ability to manipulate objects, allowing him to fully utilize the versatility and power of his magic. Kazuya utilizes small palm-sized wooden dolls, carved in the shape of mice, which he purchased in bulk from a shop, hoping they would be useful with his "Living Poltergeist" magic. He primarily employs these dolls for information gathering, scouting, and searching missions. These dolls proved invaluable in locating people trapped in a landslide in the "God-Protected Forest," ultimately saving many lives. Kazuya's adventurer "alter-ego," Little Musashibo, involves manipulating a large, costume doll with a plush humanoid form using his "Living Poltergeist" magic. This humanoid doll allows Kazuya to move freely without range limitations, observe his surroundings, and act when necessary. The doll, created by Kazuya himself, is empty inside and spacious enough for a person to fit, though it can be quite hot. Made from fibers that are bladeproof, bulletproof, and resistant to fire, cold, and acid, the doll is exceptionally durable. Under Kazuya's control, Little Musashibo becomes a skilled melee fighter and proficient in any weapon it wields, although Kazuya does not personally gain this combat experience. Typically equipped with a naginata, it can also efficiently use bows and swords. Additionally, the doll has a wicker basket on its back, large enough to carry a person. In Friedonia, Little Musashibo is known as "The Adventurer Who Wears a Kigurumi." Besides taking quests from the Adventurer's Guild, Little Musashibo often teams up with Juno's party and stars in the Jewel Broadcast Program "Singing with Big Sis." The design of Little Musashibo is inspired by the legendary Heian warrior monk Saitō Musashibō Benkei. Flame Pierrot are dolls with a bizarre appearance, featuring patchwork bodies, tattered clothing, zombie-like movements, and flames blazing from their heads. Kazuya created these dolls as part of a plan to secretly evacuate towns and villages that lay in the path of the invading Amidonian Army during the One Week War. By making the dolls pose as new variants of monsters, Kazuya aimed to damage the border towns and villages, creating the illusion of a monster outbreak. This ruse allowed for the safe evacuation of the residents without arousing suspicion. Additionally, the Flame Pierrot dolls caused the invading Amidonian Army to be cautious and avoid them, thus slowing their advance. "Factory Arm #1" is an experimental doll shaped like a prosthetic arm attached to an L-shaped platform, created by Genia Maxwell at Kazuya's request. This doll enables Kazuya's "Living Poltergeist" to perform intricate hand movements, allowing him to grasp a pen and write smoothly—something not possible with his other dolls like "Little Musashibo." Its realistic appearance gives it a creepy look, often surprising or even causing some people to faint upon seeing it for the first time. The primary purpose of this device is to allow Kazuya to sign paperwork remotely, even when he is not present at the castle. Because Kazuya introduced himself to others using the Japanese convention of family name/surname first, most people in the Kingdom think that "Souma" is his given name, thus referring to him as "King Souma". Only a few know that "Kazuya" is his given name, while "Souma" is his family name. Due to this error on his part, the given name he is known by around the world is "Souma". During the coronation ceremony, he had to rename himself as "Souma A. Elfrieden". Thus, he gave up on his given name "Kazuya", while taking on the name of both the Amidonia and the Elfrieden family as his surname. Kazuya actually still gets to use his name, but only when he's undercover. Everyone only knows his family name. Liscia gave their daughter a similar sounding name (i.e., "Kazuha"), so that Kazuya's birth name isn't forgotten. According to Liscia Elfrieden, Souma has the greatest housekeeping skills in the royal family, exceeding the likes of Juna Doma and Roroa Amidonia. During the talk with Tiamat, it's stated that Kazuya is not the same human race as the other humans in the current world. Souma suspects that he is similar to the "Old Ones" like Tiamat; however, it is still not known what exactly human being he is.
- #2Liscia Elfrieden
Keys: Liscia · Secondary:
Liscia Elfrieden was the princess of Elfrieden, the daughter of the previous king, Albert Elfrieden, and the first primary queen of Friedonia as the wife of Souma. Liscia is a slim young woman who happens to be a beautiful fair-skinned young girl with platinum-blonde hair that is tied into a ponytail by her signature black ribbon with bangs covering her forehead and platinum-blonde eyes. She is primarily seen wearing her red military uniform. Seeing her, people along the way spontaneously let out sighs of admiration and raised cheers when they realized that she was the country’s "princess." Liscia is a proud and strong-willed girl with an open mind and common sense where she was confused at her sudden betrothal to Kazuya Souma at first, but she later falls in love with him. Liscia is the princess of Elfrieden and the daughter of Albert. In her title of Princess, she graduated from a military academy and possesses an Officer title. Her social position itself isn’t that high, but due to her high birth, she often gets orders to go around to each regional army for sympathy calls and the like. She was on one of those missions just now but upon hearing of her Father’s sudden abdication she came in a big hurry. Her first meeting with her fiancee was an awkward one as she was immediately recruited to help with the mountains of paperwork; due to the fact he was exasperated and didn't look up to see who he was talking to (since the education level of Liscia's world is way behind his own meant there was a terrible lack of efficienct personnel). She would later witness the reforms and innovations brought by Kazuya Souma to bring Elfrieden out of its recession, solve the food crisis and pay off the war tribute. She was even more surprised by Kazuya ate in the cafeteria, rather the dining hall; deeming it a waste of money and time. Liscia would continue to actively support Kazuya during his political moves and his travels, frequently offering her own input on various situations. She was more understanding about his subsequent engagements to Aisha Udgard, Roroa Amidonia, Juna Doma and later Naden Delal than Kazuya initially was. During this time, Kazuya would confess his own love for her, making her the first of his fiancées that he would fully reciprocate feelings towards. After the visit of Mary Valenti and the attempted moves by the Orthodox Papal State, Kazuya and Liscia would take their relationship to the next level and begin their intimate relations. Although Liscia was not against Kazuya furthering his relationships with his other fiancées, they mutually agreed to allow Liscia to bear the first heir before any such movements were made. The fiancées would also agree to cooperatively act as mothers to all children born. This second agreement would later cause Liscia some distress.During the return from the Star Dragon Mountain Range and Kazuya's trip to the Republic of Turgis, Liscia falls ill, but it is later revealed that she is pregnant. She would later reveal that she is carrying twins in passing, shocking Kazuya who had not been informed by that point of the twins element. She would stay in the country with her parents until shortly after the twins were born. After returning with the twins to the castle, Liscia would resume most of her various duties, though she would lament not being able to travel or participate in combat training exercises. She would later participate in the Combat Music experiment that was part of Morse Butchy's work songs thesis where she would go toe-to-toe with Aisha in a magic duel. Liscia would marry Kazuya alongside Aisha, Roroa, Juna and Naden on the day of his coronation, officially becoming the First Primary Queen. The pair revealed the twins Cian Elfrieden and Kazuha Elfrieden to the public after the official ceremony. As mentioned, Liscia would have some distress as the twins began to talk. This is because the twins seemed to acknowledge all of the queens as 'Ma' rather than Liscia specifically. Her distress was also impacted by the fact that the twins learned Carla's (though they currently pronounce it as 'Cawla') name first. Liscia is currently in Parnam, taking care of the twins and acting as the head of state when Kazuya is traveling due to her position as First Primary Queen. Having received formal military training from young age, Liscia is quite strong and knowledgeable in various martial arts forms. She is also an accomplished Swords-woman who is able to go on-par with the likes of Aisha Udgard who is considered to be the strongest Sword Master in the Kingdom. Because of her Military training, Liscia is quite knowledgeable in various battle tactics used during war and also able to read the follow of battles which allows her to change her tactics as needed. Liscia is a user of "Water Element" Magic, specifically the Ice control aspect. Although she can't use it on the level of a 'Mage', but she can imbue it on her weapon to further boost its power or fire-off AoE magic attacks.
- #3Aisha Udgard
Keys: Aisha
Aisha Udgard is a dark elf and the self-appointed bodyguard of Kazuya Souma. She later became the "2nd Primary Queen" candidate, but even after that, she continued to serve as a bodyguard to Souma. She was given the title of "Dame of the East Wind" initially, but after her engagement to Souma and becoming a Primary Queen, her title was changed to "Dame-Queen of the East Wind". Aisha is a Dark Elf, and thus has brown-skin, pointed ears and silver hair which is standard for her race. Belonging to a long-lived race, she has lived quite a few decades until now, but she looks like a girl around the age of 39 years old. She has violet eyes and her light lavender hair is long, waist-length which she tied in a Sleek Ponytail style, with side-front bangs. Being a warrior, Aisha is moderately muscular but still has a curvy figure with large breasts, slender waist and legs. When wearing pretty dresses, Aisha has a notable tan line just above her bosom; due to the black material normally between her collar and armor. As a warrior, Aisha is brave and a dignified woman who won't be afraid to speak her mind even to a King, or be forced to follow rules which goes against the customs of her tribe or her own norms. She also has great insight as a warrior, which helps her gauge her opponents strength and abilities. She is also extremely loyal to anyone who she had pledge to serve with her life and body or to people who are close to her. Aisha is also caring and worry about the people of her tribe and those who are connected to her, even willing to sacrifice herself in order to help them. But outside of her life as a warrior, Aisha is a bit of an air-head, naive and can be said to be a muscle-brain. She is also loyal to the extent that many have compared her to a dog, who would wag its tail happily to its master's every call; even Souma has called her pet-like. She is also impulsive and tends to take and makes decisions without a second thought. When she loses control of her emotions, she keeps on crying out loudly and become distraught. In this situation, she can easily go berserk (if given a chance), which combined with her monstrous strength is extremely dangerous, and can become a hassle for people around her who try to calm her down. She is also a glutton, and can easily devour food meant for several people. She blames this gluttonous behavior to her homeland "God Protected Forest" for not having enough variety of dishes. Aisha was first introduced during Kazuya's Talent Search as she was determined to win the Martial Arts Tournament, so she could get an audience with him. At that point in time, the famine of Elfrieden had caused several skirmishes between the Dark Elves and hungry citizens looking for food within the God-Protected Forest. Her goal was to ask the king directly to stop the illegal poaching. Initially, her brazen attitude and unwillingness to bow before the king was considered as a capital crime, but Kazuya listened to her plea and promised to send food aid to the forest, and put a stop to the poaching. He then suggested that the Dark Elves perform periodic thinning of the trees to produce lumber for trade and to protect the forest's soil integrity from landslides. After hearing the solution as to why her home was experiencing landslides and weakened trees, Aisha immediately kowtowed to Kazuya and pledged her eternal loyalty, and even offered her body to him. Aisha would then act as Kazuya's personal bodyguard and begin to show feelings towards him. She also became very enamored with the variety of foods he introduced and would eat massive amounts of them. She would attempt to become more feminine and therefore more attractive to Kazuya with comedic results. She would fall in love with Kazuya even more when he led the Forbidden Army in a rescue and relief mission to the God-Protected Forest. During the One Week War, Aisha would distinguish herself at the battle near Van. She would then receive the title of Dame of the East Wind and a magic gauntlet. Then her father Wodan Udgard surprised her by offering his daughter to Kazuya as a bride. Aisha would happily accept the engagement and became the Second Primary Queen Consort. While she was the second primary queen consort, Aisha agreed along with Roroa and Juna to allow the first of Kazuya's heirs to be born with Liscia before they made their own advances. After the twins Cian and Kazuha were born, Aisha and the other queens agreed to all act as mothers to all children born. She would officially marry Kazuya alongside Liscia, Roroa, Juna, and Naden on the day of his coronation, becoming Second Primary Queen. Aisha had the distinct pleasure, though she was embarrassed at the time, of being with Kazuya on the wedding night. Aisha, alongside Juna and Naden, was selected to accompany Kazuya during their covert mission to the Nine Headed Dragon Archipelago. As usual, she served as the primary bodyguard for Kazuya. During the naval battle which followed, she was deployed on the Albert II to aid in the deflection of debris thrown by Ooyamizuchi. As far as pure physical strength goes, Aisha is considered to be the strongest in the Kingdom. She is powerful enough to easily overpower a veteran Dragonewt Warrior who are known for their strength. This power also allows her to easily wield and use a heavy Great-Sword. She can even break the shell of a "Giganto Armadillo" which are known to have a practically impossible to break shell, with around 10 strikes from her Great-Sword (while replacing the Great-Sword in-between). When she loses her control and goes berserk, she can also easily change the topography of a small area with her raw strength. Being a Dark Elf, she has better eye-sight and hearing capabilities compared to a normal Human, allowing her to see far distance clearly and react to any sounds. Belonging to a long-lived race like Dark Elf, has allowed her to sharpened her battle senses over the course of years, making her peerless in almost any combat situation. Over the course of her life, Aisha has perfected her combat style and is an exceptional Swords-woman and an extraordinary military prowess in her own right. While she can use any type of sword, but she normally prefers a huge Great-Sword. Aisha is a user of "Wind Element" Magic. Though she can't use it on the level of a 'Mage', but she can imbue it on her weapon to further boost its power. She also uses "Wind Element" Magic along with her Great-Sword to launch ranged attacks. Aisha is decades old, but won't say how much.
- #4Juna Doma
Keys: Juna
Juna Doma is a granddaughter of Excel Walter. Juna is considered to be beautiful with a mature appearance for her age and is a winner of the Elfrieden Pretty Girl Grand Prix. She has notable long blue colored wavy and fluffy hair. Juna inherited her grandmother's ample bosom, but unlike Excel, Juna is more modest with exposing it. In her normal attire, she wears a white and navy blue dirndl highlighted with royal blue sleeves and a royal blue bow under her breasts. She wears a pair of royal blue pants similar to an Indian dancer's sari. She also has a sky blue frilly piece of cloth wrapped around her hips and legs. In the light novel and manga, she wears a pair of flats. In the anime, she wears a pair of gladiator sandals highlighted with a pair of golden ankle bracers. In her formal attire, she wears a navy uniform consisting of a white button down long sleeve shirt with navy blue highlights on the wrists and shoulder, a white pair of pants, and a pair of white shoes. Juna is a very even-tempered girl and is quite intelligent. She has proven to be very loyal to both her grandmother and friends in Kazuya's inner circle. She is frequently referred to as mature for her age, tending to give more affections than she allows herself to receive. Juna Doma is first introduced during Kazuya's call for talented people and is announced as the winner for both the Elfrieden Pretty Girl Grand Prix and Kingdom of Talent in the singing category. Kazuya would later use these talents as part of his Jewel Voice Broadcast and Project Lorelei plan. As time progressed, Juna becomes captivated by Kazuya's ideas and realism that she starts to develop feelings for him. After Kazuya and Liscia returned from assisting the Dark Elves after a devastating mudslide in the God Protected Forest, Juna notices that Kazuya has been overburdening himself with his duties that he barely gets any sleep leading to Liscia asking her to comfort him. She obliges by visiting his room one night advising him to relax and not overexert himself. She then sings a lullaby that brings Kazuya to tears as he finally falls asleep. As she leaves his room, Juna then decides that if Liscia is the one that brings out his strength, then she'll be the one to hide his weaknesses. It's later revealed that Juna was actually a spy codenamed 'Canaria' sent by her grandmother, Excel Walter in order to investigate the personality and activities of the newly-appointed King of Elfrieden. She finds herself being very impressed by the ideas and innovations of Kazuya and eventually reveals to him, her motives and connections to the Sea Princess. As a result, Excel Walter pledges her allegiance to Kazuya far before the Final Counsel. During the One Week War, Juna distinguishes herself as leader of the Marine Corps during the withdrawal of the Amidonian Army by causing massive casualties among them and delaying their march to Van. After a month of occupying the city and becoming the top idol of the Lorelei Broadcast, Juna would eventually fall in love with Kazuya. Excel would then offer her granddaughter to Kazuya as a Secondary Queen Consort, but Kazuya would turn down the offer because Juna was so important as a Lorelei. However, he did promise that he would marry Juna along with the other fiancées once the other lorelei singers were experienced enough to take Juna's place. Juna happily accepted that arrangement and became the first Secondary Queen Consort. Juna has been primarily involved with the various entertainment and educational broadcasts that are routinely put out. As the first of the lorelei's, she has become known as the Prima Lorelei. After their secret engagement, Juna was slowly phased out of the initial programs, but would occasionally star in new ones, notably the educational program Singing with Big Sis. Juna briefly served as the acting head of state during the initial Friedonian military expedition to provide aid to the Union of Eastern Nations. This was due to Liscia still being away at the time due to her pregnancy and Aisha, Roroa, and Naden travelling with Kazuya. She would later travel to Lastania in order to bring her grandmother Excel back to the capital. After revealing that she possessed a form of blackmail on Excel in the form of a love letter, Juna would swap places with Roroa and travel to the Duchy of Chima with the expedition. She would serve with Aisha and Naden as a deterrent at the victory celebration afterwards against important persons who might have attempted to present their daughters as marriage partners. Juna would marry Kazuya alongside Liscia, Aisha, Roroa, and Naden on the day of his coronation, officially becoming First Secondary Queen. Because she is a secondary queen, she would take the surname Souma after the wedding as it is technically Kazuya's own surname, though he has been referred to as Souma due to his initial introduction mistake. Juna, alongside Aisha and Naden, was selected to accompany Kazuya during their covert mission to the Nine Headed Dragon Archipelago. There she assisted in sorting through the survivor reports to help construct Ichiha's monster profile for Ooyamizuchi. During the naval battle which followed, she provided support to both Friedonian and Dragon forces through the use of song, a development from the Work Songs Project by Morse Butchy. After the battle, Juna revealed to Kazuya that she was expecting their first child. She would give birth to the child at some point between when the Lastanian refugees arrived in Friedonia and when Kuu returned to the the Republic of Turgis. Juna possesses great singing talent and is able to memorize a song after listening to it for 5 mins. While lacking the magical power of a true mage Juna is capable of water magic to enhance her attacks. She is capable of wreathing throwing knives in water allowing the knives to pulverize large boulders thrown by ogres in midair. Juna is the leader of a group of Marines and has experience in covert operations.
- #5Roroa Amidonia
Keys: Roroa
Roroa Amidonia is the daughter of Gaius Amidonia and the younger sister of Julius Amidonia. Roroa has an attractive round face with small and beady eyes. She looks around the age of sixteen or seventeen years with a petite, slender physique that stood less than 160 cm tall and with braid-style twintails at the nape of her neck. In the manga she is shown to have long, black hair tied up in twin tails in front. In the light novel and anime, her hair is chestnut. Roroa has a keen sense of business and economics causing a rift between her and her militaristic father who ignored the economic development of Amidonia. She agreed with many of the realistic views and ideas of Kazuya Souma whom she would later be engaged to. Roroa was even brilliant enough to invent commercials for the Jewel Voice Broadcast. She is normally very cheerful and tends to speak in merchant slang. She treats Kazuya's other queens as sisters. When she first met Souma, Roroa was surprised that he hadn't consummated his engagement with Liscia; having not taken into consideration that Souma would have been raised with different values. Despite this, Roroa accepted waiting until Liscia and Souma were ready; seeing no need to rush. Roroa had been working behind the scenes during the reign of her father, using her business sense to keep the economy of the Principality of Amidonia from falling apart. However, despite her best efforts, whatever funds she managed to accumulate for the citizens and economy were always spent on strengthening the military. This leads to constant food shortages and a lack of industrial growth. Prior to the One Week War, she began looking into the reforms and exploits of the newly-crowned king of Elfrieden, Kazuya Souma. She found herself 'jealous of her neighbor's wallet' and planned to 'link her wallet' to Elfrieden's. After Amidonia invaded Elfrieden, Roroa decided to cut all ties with her family and went into hiding with the former Finance Minister, Gatsby Colbert. After Amidonia loses the war and the capital city of Van, Roroa investigated the state of Van during the occupation. She was very impressed with the use of the Jewel Broadcast System and saw the financial potential of mass media. She also took note of how unwilling the citizens would be to give up their newfound freedom, after having a taste of it. She predicted that her brother Julius would have a hard time once Van was given back to him. True to her prediction, Julius indeed had many troubles as he attempted to erase all of Elfrieden's influences and return the city back to the status quo. This situation was further compounded with a huge uprising in the northeast area and several revolts started by Roroa in secret (though these did not end in bloodshed like the one in the northeast). With the revolts happening on all sides, opposing nations invading, and Van suddenly declaring itself allied with Elfrieden, becoming once again occupied by Kazuya's forces, Julius was forced into exile, and the entire Principality of Amidonia was eventually annexed by Elfrieden. Roroa would later be presented by her grandfather Herman Neumann, to Kazuya Souma, (via inside a rolled-up carpet), and was offered as a bride to him. Since this would give him a legitimate claim to Amidonia, Kazuya accepted, thereby making Gaius' daughter, the Third Primary Queen. She would later come up with the idea of 'commercials' as a way to bolster the Jewel Voice Broadcast programming and earn more income. She had also asked Souma permission to start a new company and assured him that any children they would have would inherit the business and not lay claim for succession to the crown. Since her engagement to Kazuya, Roroa has kept herself busy with several trade ventures and expanding the Silver Deer, a former men's clothing store in Van, managed by her friend Sebastian Silverdeer. Most recently, she became the sponsor of Landia's first hovercraft, the Roroa Maru and even had the amphibious ship named after her. She would take part in the festival as a memorial to her late father Gaius. She would later accompany Kazuya on his trip to the Union of Eastern Nations, where she would have a surprising reunion with her exiled brother Julius. She would begin repairing their relationship as well as form a friendship with her eventual sister-in-law, Tia Lastania. Roroa would eventually marry Kazuya alongside Liscia, Aisha, Juna, and Naden on the day of his coronation, officially becoming Third Primary Queen. She has agreed to cooperatively act as mother to all children born. Roroa was not heavily involved in many of the Friedonian concerns relating to Fuuga's unification of the Union of Eastern Nations. However, she did advocate for sheltering the Lastanian royal family, which included her brother Julius, when they were to flee the country. Kazuya would agree to this in part because of Roroa's request. Roroa was happy to be reunited with her sister-in-law Tia and her brother Julius. As Tia and Roroa are both heavily pregnant, Roroa would joke that the first place the two would visit together would be Hilde's clinic to give birth. Roroa's company would be involved in the secret smuggling of a number of Lunarian refugees, including Mary, during political upheaval within the Lunarian Orthodox Papal State. Roroa has great skills in terms of making profits and managing financial deals on a large scale. She has great foresight in seeing the economic potential of the Jewel Voice Broadcast and is shrewd in business negotiations. Through her efforts, she had been able to keep the economy of Amidonia from collapsing.
- #6Poncho Panacotta
Keys: Poncho
Poncho Panacotta is currently the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Kingdom of Elfrieden. Poncho is a middle-aged, heavyset man, with short hair and a rounded face. He has a large belly, and is seen constantly sweating. Initially, Poncho had very low self-esteem and self-confidence in himself, since he was ridiculed for spending his money solely in the pursuit of finding food. He has a habit of ending all of his sentences with the word 'yes.' As time goes on and his talents are recognized as valuable, he gains more confidence in himself. Poncho Panacotta was one of the five people that were selected during Kazuya Souma's call out for talented individuals. His special talent is not only being the best eater, but also due to his long history of eating all types of food from all over Landia. Kazuya considered him to the be the key to solving the Elfrieden Kingdom's food crisis and immediately gave Poncho the title of Minister for the Food Crisis. Poncho would spend two weeks, using one of the royal wyverns as transportation, to fly over Landia and collect various foodstuffs. He would then host the first Jewel Voice Broadcast program with Juna Doma, demonstrating the various items that can be eaten and how to prepare them. His most important contributions would be the method to harvest and cook Gelin Udon, the discovery of Hishio Sauce and Hishio Water, (Landia's version of Soy Sauce and Miso), and showing that even the octopus can be eaten. After the success of that program, Elfrieden's food crisis would later be solved, and Poncho would eventually invent even more delicious foods with some knowledge from Kazuya's memories from Earth. This would eventually create such dishes such as Instant Ramen, which would become a hit among the troops as a combat field ration. After the One Week War and the occupation of the city of Van, Poncho would provide food aid to the citizens with the Lily Root Dumpling. At that point, he became well-respected by the starving citizens and especially among the struggling housewives. He would earn the nickname, Lord Ishizuka. After the annexation of the Principality of Amidonia and the creation of the Kingdom of Friedonia, Poncho would earn the title of Minister of Agriculture and Forestry and would temporarily govern the city of Venetinova. Due to his position as one of Kazuya's inner circle of advisors, Poncho rapidly became a target for nobles who sought influence to either marry or marry their daughters to. Poncho was seen as an easy target by such individuals due to his original commoner heritage and due to the presumption that because of his appearance he likely had not received much attention from women. As the castle was being flooded with proposals for Poncho, both Kazuya and Hakuya recognized this potentially dangerous situation and sought to aid in protecting Poncho from devious individuals by assigning Serina to serve as an aid for him. She would stand in on the marriage meetings that Poncho would have and due to her aura, would drive away the devious individuals. Unfortunately, Serina's presence also drove away more benevolent candidates as well. Serina was later joined by Komain as an aid to Poncho during such meetings, though results remained the same. Eventually, Komain would present herself as a marriage candidate to Poncho, which though he was surprised by, he would accept. Komain had attempted to hint to Poncho that Serina was likewise interested in him, but he would fail to pick up on the hint. After some urging, Serina would confess her own feelings to Poncho, citing that she would allow him to care for her, something she was not used to. Komain, having foreseen this, would allow Serina to be head wife. Poncho married Serina and Komain on the same day as Kazuya's own wedding and coronation as part of the joint celebration across Parnam. At the wedding reception, Serina quickly began suggesting that they should have children as she wanted to be ahead of the coming high-influence-officials baby boom, going so far as to offer Poncho as selection of foods that were said to increase virility. Poncho would experience a notable loss of weight over the next several months, which started to cause concern from others like Kazuya. However, as now both Serina and Komain are expecting, he has been returning to his previous size. Poncho is currently continuing to serve as Minister of Agriculture and Forestry and temporary governor of Venetinova while studying to increase his own knowledge in these areas. Due to his long history of visiting other places in his search for food, Poncho has gained a vast knowledge and expertise on what can be eaten, how to harvest it, and what its nutritional value is. His motto is, "If it was edible, I ate it." Along with having a vast knowledge of different Cuisine, Poncho is just as capable of preparing them, proving to be a first class chef. He can create simple but amazing dishes that can easily captivate anyone who has tried them. He could even reproduce dishes from Kazuya's world that Kazuya couldn't make himself using just what Kazuya told him.
- #7Tomoe Inui
Keys: Tomoe
Tomoe Inui is a member of the mystic wolf race of beastmen. As such, she has wolf ears atop her head and a fluffy tail. She is said to have small, round eyes and suntanned skin. As a refugee, she initially had a rather haggard appearance, like many others, with notably frayed clothing. After being taken in by the palace, she wardrobe correspondingly changed. Tomoe Inui, along with her mother, Tomoko, and her brother, Rou, was a refugee from the northern area that is now the Demon Lord’s Domain. Her father died of illness soon after Rou was born. There used to be a country of the mystic wolf race there, but like many others the country has been destroyed and overrun. Together with her family and other members of the mystic wolf race, Tomoe eventually made her way to the Kingdom of Elfrieden before Kazuya’s summoning. When Kazuya called for the gathering of capable people, Tomoe would go on to present her gift, the ability to speak to animals, to the kingdom. In order to test her gift, she communed with horses about their health and history. Due to the unique nature of her gift, she was to be specially awarded over a Jewel Voice Broadcast alongside four others: Aisha Udgard, Hakuya Kwonmin, Juna Doma, and Poncho Panacotta. It was during this ceremony that she silently revealed to Kazuya that she could also speak to demons, causing an emergency pause to the ceremony as he discussed this revelation with Liscia, Marx, and Ludwin. Due to the potential upheaval that this information could cause, it was quickly decided that Tomoe should be brought under the protection of the palace. Since it would look suspicious to have a commoner like her in the palace, she would need to be taken into the royal family in some way. As they were yet to be wed, Liscia and Kazuya opted not to adopt her and Kazuya would also refuse to take Tomoe as a bride. It was decided that Elisha and Albert would instead adopt her, making her Liscia’s younger sister and Kazuya’s sister-in-law. Tomoe would initially object to this arrangement, citing her mother still being in the refugee camp, but when it was explained that it was more of a formality, she would accept. Tomoe and her family were taken into the protection of the palace and have gone on to live and serve there. Tomoe has gone on several of Kazuya’s international excursions, including to the Republic of Turgis and Nine Headed Dragon Archipelago. Though she was brought on the trip, Tomoe did not make it to the Star Dragon Mountain Range as the situation there had changed. During trips, she has been assigned a personal bodyguard from the Black Cats, Beowulf. Tomoe has taken to looking at Beowulf as a sort of father figure rather than simply a bodyguard as he has taught her various things. Tomoe would play an important role during the Friedonian military’s operation to support the Union of Eastern Nations during the demon wave attack. In Lastania, she would use her ability to commune with a lizardman, establishing a motive for their attack and enabling countermeasures to be formulated. She would also be important in the Duchy of Chima, as her exploration led to the chance encounter with Ichiha Chima. Though she did not fully understand why herself, Tomoe recognized Ichiha’s talents and brought him to Kazuya, who agreed with her assessments. Tomoe has served as the first pupil of Hakuya and was later joined by Ichiha and Yuriga. Though noted by Hakuya as not necessarily being as clever as to succeed him, Tomoe did score high enough on the entrance exams to make the top class at the Royal Academy. Due to her position, she is a popular figure at the academy, much to her chagrin. When not accompanying Kazuya on trips where her ability is needed, Tomoe is currently attending the Royal Academy with her friends Ichiha, Yuriga, Lucy, and Velza. Tomoe is a user of the Dark element, which is unique magic that can't be categorized under the other elements and is a more personalized form of magic. Tomoe's unnamed dark magic gives her the ability to interact with animals and demons and understand them. It is theorized that her magic is a form of telepathy, which helps translate the feelings and speech of animals and monsters as well as understand the language of demons in words she understands. There does not appear to be a set range for her to utilize the ability other than she must see her target.
- #8Hakuya Kwonmin
Keys: Hakuya
Hakuya Kwonmin was the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Friedonia who was known as the "Black-robed Prime Minister". After the loss of the Gran Chaos Empire in the war against the Great Tiger Kingdom of Haan which resulted to the split of the Empire, he become the Prince Consort of the new Euphoria Kingdom after marrying its current Queen, Jeanne Euphoria. Hakuya is an intelligent young man of around twenty who normally wears a black robe like outfit. He appears to have pale and slender body with shoulder-length black hair that looks unkempt, a cold, calculating demeanor. Due to him wearing mostly black robe, he earns his nickname as Black-robed Prime Minister. Hakuya appears to be emotionless most of the time, and is very shrewd and calculating. He follows his king's realistic approaches and at times, exemplifies Machiavelli's ideas of using harsh methods when necessary to obtain goals. However, he does have a gentler side and finds amusement in teasing the king or complaining about him with Jeanne Euphoria. He has a great interest in books and obtaining knowledge of all kinds. Hakuya Kwonmin was introduced to Kazuya Souma as one of the five winners of the Talent Search. Incidentally, Hakuya wasn't interested in competing at all until his uncle pushed him into it. He had spent most of his time reading books of all kinds and didn't socialize much. Hakuya was deemed as the one with the greatest knowledge of all the Elfrieden Kingdom's laws and his memory was second-to-none. Though Kazuya initially offered Hakuya a judicial position, Hakuya turned it down, saying he that he was only interested in reading books. Kazuya then piqued Hakuya's interest by offering him the position of librarian, which would allow Hakuya to read rare books that weren't in circulation. Hakuya later accepted the role of Prime Minister, due to his diplomatic and negotiation skills, thereby allowing Marx to retire and become chamberlain for the former Elfrieden King and Queen.
Hakuya would play a pivotal role in advising his king on how to deal with the rebellions of Georg Carmine and Castor Vargas, the invasion of the Principality of Amidonia, the occupation of Van, the secret bipartite alliance with the Gran Chaos Empire and the annexation of Amidonia.
Following the annexation of Amidonia, Hakuya continued to play a large part in the various schemes to protect the kingdom. When the Orthodox Papal State attempted to gain deep influence, it was Hakuya who asked that Souji Lester be appointed as the Lunarian bishop in Friedonia. Having the authority, he would send members of the Black Cats to collect and protect Souji from any travel inconveniences. Hakuya would also aid Kazuya in the planning of what would become the Tripartite Medical Alliance with the Republic of Turgis and the Gran Chaos Empire. He would foresee the need of powerful water mages during the Friedonian military expedition to aid the Union of Eastern Nations and would preemptively dispatch Excel Walter to Lastania, and then Juna to bring Excel back to Friedonia afterwards. Serving as Prime Minister, Hakuya is perhaps the closest retainer of Kazuya. As such, Hakuya has had many instances were Kazuya's actions have caused him great trouble due to Kazuya not thinking as deeply about the ramifications. As he is the main contact for Friedonia in the secret alliance with the Empire, he routinely discusses his frustrations with Jeanne Euphoria, who shares similar issues on her own end. While he is generally collected with his thoughts, when something unexpected occurs he can become just as flustered as Kazuya. Hakuya has also served as a tutor, beginning with Tomoe Inui and later including Ichiha Chima and Yuriga Haan. When Hakuya suggested sending the three to the Royal Academy, Kazuya agreed. Tomoe and Ichiha would receive some of the top scores on the entrance exam, with Yuriga also passing due to her asking Hakuya for additional studying assistance. As the Prime Minister and close retainer to Kazuya, Hakuya has been inundated with many marriage proposals. While he has expressed no interests in marriage at this time, Hakuya did agree to the joking suggestion of Maria Euphoria that he marry Jeanne Euphoria. However, nothing has come of this at this time. Hakuya is continuing to serve as Prime Minister, currently preparing for the encroaching conflict with the Nine Headed Dragon Archipelago. Hakuya has the ability to remember everything that he reads. This trait, in which he used to remember every law of Elfrieden, caused King Soma to recognize him as one of the five major winners of the Talent Search. Due to his Eidetic Memory, Kazuya attempts to place him as head librarian of the national archive before being reassigned as Prime Minister after proving to Marx, who had been assessing his skills, that he had been more than worthy of the position.
- #9Exel Walter
Keys: Excel
Excel Walter is the grandmother of Carla Vargas and Juna Doma as well as mother-in-law to Castor Vargas, who was formerly the commander of the Air Force. She is currently the supreme commander of the National Defense Force. Despite being over 500 years old, Excel has the appearance of an attractive voluptuous woman in her twenties with ankle-length blue hair that has two gold ring bands on either chest-length hair strands with bangs swept to the right side, blue eyes and a busty figure. Since her species is sea serpent, she also has antler-like protrusions on her head and a sea serpent tail. She is often seen wearing a loose-fitting kimono-style dress that shows off her generous cleavage. Excel possesses a keen mind and shares several realistic viewpoints with Kazuya Souma. She will do what is necessary to safeguard her people and her long years of experience aids her in making key decisions. She will show no mercy to her enemies and is a shrewd tactician. However, she also has a playful side and takes every opportunity to tease Kazuya and his five Queen Consorts. She is very caring toward her granddaughters Carla Vargas and Juna Doma. She was also the one who sent Juna to investigate Kazuya in the first place. Despite having numerous husbands through her long life, she is known for being committed to each of her past husbands and staying with them till the end. Excel Walter was present during the founding of the Elfrieden Kingdom five hundred years ago by the First King. She resided at Lagoon City, and as per the condition of protection and safety of her people, she had agreed to serve the Kingdom as a Duchess. Over her long life, she has married and given birth dozens of times, and currently has enough descendants and relatives which if combined could easily fill a small village. In order to avoid any needless suspicion of her bloodline trying to overthrow the Kingdom or causing an uprising, once her children reach adulthood she would partly in a special manner legally disown them and mostly strip them of there rights of inheritance. She than would marry them off into other families or if there already married or in a relationship she would just give them her blessings for the marriage so long as there a good person. while keeping her family name "Walter" to herself only, thus avoiding any inheritance issues. Having been a participant in the founding of the country, Excel has been a crucial figure to the projected stability of Elfrieden. During the succession crisis following the death of Elisha Elfrieden's father, Excel would likewise maintain a neutrality toward all like the other dukes. When the crisis was over, it was Excel who would travel to Albert Elfrieden's domain to retrieve Elisha. Although reluctant, Excel would agree to Elisha's proposal that would put Albert of the throne. As the whole Kingdom kept suffering from the food crisis because of bad weather, mismanagement, and corruptions, Excel had managed to overcome the worst of the crisis using her own independent plan which took advantage of her port city, as it allowed her easier trade and access to food source, which even the other Dukes, Castor Vargas and Georg Carmine, couldn't easily manage to do. After the abdication of Albert, Excel secretly sent her granddaughter Juna Doma to Parnam during Kazuya Souma's call out for talented people. She was very impressed by the reforms enacted by the new king and the descriptions of him by Juna. She was also disgusted by the corrupt nobles' disdain of the new king. As such, she would secretly align herself with Kazuya ahead of the civil war. During the Final Counsel, Excel publicly pledged her allegiance to Kazuya and urged her fellow Dukes to do likewise. However, both Castor and Georg rebelled, thereby starting the One Week War. She would shelter her daughter Accela Vargas and grandson Carl Vargas, who had been disassociated by Castor to shield them from treason. Unknown to the dukes, Excel was already stationed at the fort of Altomura in preparation to combat the invading Amidorian Army. She would also lead a naval unit to threaten the Republic of Turgis, thereby forcing the invading army at Nelva to withdraw. After the conclusion of the One Week War, the Army, Navy and Air Force were disbanded and combined into a new National Defense Force. Reluctantly, Excel would accept the appointment as supreme commander until Ludwin Arcs, the second in command, obtained enough experience to succeed her. She would also offer her granddaughter Juna as a Secondary Queen to Kazuya. Excel would take up the responsibility of teaching the Queen Consorts in what she describes as 'bridal training' as well as Kazuya in 'husband' duties. She would use information she obtained from Kazuya after secretly plying him with strong alcohol to create her lessons. These included his personal impressions and secret feelings for each of the Queen Consorts as well as his hidden desires. She has continued these lessons since the wedding. Serving as the Supreme Commander, Excel was informed of the various secret military projects Kazuya had begun. She oversaw the development of the aircraft carrier Hiryuu and the appointment of her son-in-law Castor, who had been placed under her jurisdiction after his trial, as its captain. She was left in charge of overseeing Friedonian forces remaining within the kingdom while the expedition to the Union of Eastern Nations occurred. However, she would be deployed briefly to Lastania to assist at the battle at the Dabicon River, where she displayed her vast magical skill by temporarily diverting the flow of the river. Excel would only return to Friedonia when Juna brought a 'syrupy and sweet' love letter she had written to Juna's grandfather, threatening to release the contents to show Excel's more sentimental side. Excel is currently coordinating the National Defense Force for potential action against the Nine Headed Dragon Archipelago. Belonging to the Sea Serpent race, Excel inherently has a far higher quantity of Mana than normal people. She is also proficient in her control of Mana to the point that even at a place she has geographical disadvantage, she can still control and use her magic effectively. Excel is a user of "Water Element" Magic of the highest caliber, even earning the moniker of being "the mage who is unbeatable anywhere there is fresh water". As long as she has access to fresh water, she can manipulate it to her will, be it transforming a whole section of a river into an arch, or shaping river water in the shape of serpents or dragons. Even if there is a lack of fresh water, she is able to easily display her powers without much difficulty (though at the cost of higher mana consumption), like creating an imitation of the mist-dispersing receivers used for the Jewel Voice Broadcast.
- #10Albert Elfrieden
Keys: Albert
Albert Elfrieden appears to be middle-aged man around the age of forty to fifty years with an average build. Before abdicating his throne to Souma, He wore a thick red cape and wore a gleaming gold crown atop his head. He seemed to lack the aura for a nation’s ruler, but was loved by the people under his rule. Albert is kind and caring but indecisive and weak as a leader. He loves his family and deeply cares about the nation but his poor leadership and indecisiveness resulted in the Elfrieden Kingdom eroding. There is little information about Albert from his youth. Prior to becoming king, Albert was a noble of a house in a mountainous region of the country. Due in part to its geographical location, his house was not a prosperous one, but also not seen by others as obtrusive. When he was younger, Albert formed a friendship with Georg Carmine, which would go on later to create strong ties between the military and the royal family once Albert became king. Albert took up the hobby of gardening, an unusual choice for a noble, which would ultimately lead to his first interaction with his future wife, Princess Elisha. While he was visiting the castle garden, Elisha came across Albert writing notes of things he had learned from the royal gardener. In their initial interaction, Albert told Elisha that he did not have much in terms of martial or political aspects, but because of the large amount of land he had was his reasoning for his hobby. Albert was self conscious of his interests, however Elisha would encourage him to continue his pursuits. When Elisha's father, the previous king, died, Elisha was caught up in the succession crisis. She would end up dodging numerous situations due to her magical ability, but was becoming quite distressed about surviving her situation overall. During another walk in the garden, she came upon Albert begging Georg to intervene in the succession crisis in order to save Elisha. While Georg wanted to aid Albert, he had to refuse due to the military remaining neutral. Elisha would approach Albert after this and thank him for his attempts. After not receiving any immediate warnings from her ability, Elisha asked Albert to take her to his domain, to which he agreed. The two would eventually marry and due to Albert's lack of political ambitions, Elisha was not targeted by the various factions vying for the throne, believing she had given up aspirations for it, which was true. Shortly after finding out that he was to be a father, Albert and Elisha were visited by Excel Walter, who informed them that Elisha was the sole remaining heir to the throne. Despite Elisha's protests, mentioning that she had no desire for the throne, the crown was due to come to her. As a compromise, Elisha asked that the crown be passed instead to Albert, since their marriage would serve as validation to the claim. She harshly rationalized that Albert's meek demeanor for leadership would allow all sides that had been until recently feuding over the throne to calm down. Albert would reluctantly accept the crown, taking the surname Elfrieden. Events proceeded with Albert as king of Elfrieden in a stable, but weak kingdom. When the Gran Chaos Empire demanded either funds for the nations fighting on the front lines against the Demon Lord's Domain or the summoning of a hero, Albert made the decision to attempt the hero summoning, which resulted in Kazuya Souma arriving in Elfrieden. Albert would make Kazuya the Prime Minister of the kingdom, but would frequently reject his proposals due to fear of and pressure from corrupt nobles. During this time, Albert's daughter Liscia would fall in love with Kazuya and support him in his decisions. Due to the corrupt noble's pressure, Albert would dismiss Kazuya from the prime minister position and send both Liscia and Kazuya to the domain of his friend Georg Carmine. Unfortunately due to his actions, Elfrieden erupted into civil war and was invaded. The city of Randel, where Liscia, Kazuya, and Georg were was destroyed and the three supposedly perished. As the country collapsed around them, Elisha and Albert decided that they would utilize her magic ability to send their memories to their past selves and make different decisions. Shortly after they did, Albert and Elisha were rescued by Liscia and Kazuya, who had not died in Randel, and Naden, The five would flee to Duchess Excel's territory to attempt to rally the country back together. It is unknown what occurred afterwards in this timeline. Receiving the memories from the previous timeline shortly after Kazuya's summoning, Albert changed his decision and abdicated the throne to Kazuya, adding his engagement to Liscia to secure the legitimacy of the claim and give Kazuya her support early in his reign. This decision created the current timeline of events. Albert would only tell his friend Georg of the previous timeline events at this time, setting in motion the chain of events the lead to Georg's rebellion against Kazuya. Albert and Elisha would stay around in the capital for some time, eventually revealing the previous timeline's events in summary to Kazuya (they did not know what occurred after they previous Elisha sent the memories). Albert and Elisha would return to his previous domain in the mountains and have retired there. Liscia would join them there when she found herself pregnant with the twins until shortly after their birth. Albert currently spends most of his time within his own domain, but travels to the capital on occasion to visit his grandchildren. Albert is specifically noted as having no particularly special abilities or gifts. Albert is the former king of Elfrieden and thus has some knowledge of high level government secrets. Albert has the memories of an alternate timeline where he decided not to abdicate the throne to Kazuya.
- #11Elisha Elfrieden
Keys: Elisha
Elisha Elfrieden was the actual successor to the throne of Elfrieden Kingdom, being the last surviving member of the Elfrieden Royal through the Succession Crisis after the death of the 12th King of Elfrieden. She eventually marries Albert giving him her family name with it and the role of 13th King of Elfrieden. Elishia is a gentle-looking woman who looks to be around her thirty. She is a beautiful woman with platinum blonde hair, just like her daughter, making her more mature looking than Liscia. In her youth, Elisha was tomboyish for a princess, often taking risks and acting unlike a princess. At the time, she was certain that given her station she was never a actual contender for the throne of Elfrieden. After the first instance of her magic sending memories back to her, she became much more reserved and pragmatic, acting more like a princess despite her desires as she wished to remain alive more. During the events of the succession crisis, she routinely received memories from future-selves and would mentally spiral into a depressive state. It was not until she decided to chose Albert that she began to have hope for the value of her own life again. She was resistant to succeeding the throne, and would force it upon her husband. She remained a devoted supporter through Albert's reign and was a motivating factor behind Kazuya's ascension to the throne. Elisha was born to the 12th King of Elfrieden and his third primary queen but her mother died when she was a child and was largely raised by her father and as a result grew up becoming tomboyish. When she was twelve she attempted to ride a wild horse that was not used to people but as she was attempting to climb up she received a vision of an alternate future where she climbed up the horse resulting in her falling down head first. This led to her discovering her magic for the first time. The visions caused her to be less reckless but also depressed and spent time looking at flowers in the garden.Once when she was strolling in the garden she heard Albert learning gardening from a gardener. She was surprised by the young noble's interest in gardening but said that he was fine the way he is. When she was fifteen her father passed away and Elfrieden was pushed into turmoil as power struggles intensified. As she was relatively down the succession she was able to sit on the sidelines for sometime but as successors started dying suspiciously she could no longer remain uninvolved. Worse her magic started to activate more often giving her memories of alternate futures where she died but this also allowed her to avoid the actions that led to those and survive numerous assassination attempts. Then marriage proposals began to come but as as she considered them she was overtaken by memories of futures where marrying each candidate led to her death. Elisha while wandering through the garden overheard Albert requesting Georg who has not not yet become the Duke of Carmine to help protect Elisha. But Georg could not and refused. Seeing this and remembering him from memories of other futures Elisha confessed to Albert, marrying him and going to live in his rural domain far away from Parnam. As a result of Elisha abandoning her claim, Albert lacking any ambition and his ties to the House of Carmine the nobles ignored them. This led to her becoming pregnant with Liscia which did not happen in other futures. However while she was pregnant Duchess Excel Walter came requesting Elisha to take the throne and promised the support of the three dukes as all other successors to the throne have died. While initially hesitant she accepted it under the condition Albert would be crowned king as he would have very few enemies. Even-though the Kingdom was stable, but the situation of the people living in it wasn't good because the Kingdom haven't recovered yet from the damages from the succession crisis. Adding to the fact was the increase in corruption within the Nobles and the emergence of the Demon Lord's Domain and the threat it presented which caused more issues for Albert Elfrieden. Eventually, the Empire requested the Kingdom to perform the 'Hero Summoning Ritual' as a form of help towards the campaign against the Demon's, which succeeded and resulted in the summoning of a young man called Kazuya Souma. However during this Elisha and Albert received another vision of a future where Albert decided to appoint him as Prime Minister for the Kingdom. While this helped the Kingdom regain its stability and starts recovering from the damages. However corrupt nobles conspired against Souma and Liscia who was in love with Souma is also believed to have died. Elisha was that future informed her husband about the secrets of her unique magic and Elisha used her magic to transfer both her's and her husband's memories to their past-self. As a result of this they decided to give Souma more power than what he was given in the other time-line, so that he couldn't be contested by the nobles who would end up as his opponents. Since Albert wasn't strong enough to change the course of time himself and the fact that the young man also needed more support to be successful, Elisha decided to inform and confer the secret of her unique magic to a person who was loyal to them. This person worked in the background, and orchestrated the events in such a way that all the traitorous nobles would be rounded up and removed. This transfers of memories and the eventual decisions that Elisha and Albert took, allowed the course of history to change and saved her Kingdom, the young man and their daughter from ruin that had happened in her previous time-line. After all the issues have been dealt with, Elisha informed Kazuya about her powers and the events that had transpired. She along with her husband decided to leave the Royal Capital and move to a remote domain, so as to not cause more issues with Kazuya's rule. Elisha is a user of the rare "Dark Element" Magic, which are Unique Magic that can't be categorized under the other elements and are more personalized form of magic. Elisha's unnamed "Dark Element" Magic, gives her the ability to "transfer the Experience and Memories of a person's life to their past-self". The past-self which received the memories from its future-self, would experience all the events as if they have lived through those events themselves, and they would feel as if time has re-wound back for them. The transfer of experience is set to happen at a specific time or event that occurred in the past. Once that specific time or event is triggered, the past-self would receive the memories of their future-self. Since the experience and memories of the future-self is transferred to the past-self, the past-self can take actions in order to avoid any unfavorable events that's bound to happen in the future, by altering the course of their actions. It is theorized that, this ability intervenes with the events and timeline of an alternate dimension, in order to avoid the occurrence of a time paradox. This theory was shown to be true and sending memories back does not change the timeline of the alternate Elisha that sends the memories.
- #12Carla Vargas
Keys: Carla
Carla Vargas is the daughter of Castor Vargas, granddaughter of Excel Walter, and friend to Liscia Elfrieden. She was formally the second-in-command to the Air Force of the Vargas Duchy and is currently a slave/maid to Kazuya Souma and Liscia. Carla is a beautiful young girl with flaming red long hair and shining golden eyes. She looks like an sixteen or seventeen year old dragonewt girl with red wings and tail of a dragon. Before being enslaved by Kazuya during the One Week War, she wore heavy armor in a metallic red color. She wears a mask that covers the top half of her face, a swimsuit-like outfit with a cape that is open in the center to expose her cleavage and the end-of-the-century style spiked shoulder pads. She has two horns sprouting from her temples, dragon-like wings on her back and a whip-like tail growing at her back. Like her father, Carla is headstrong and stubborn, with extreme pride. Though considered as very attractive, she has steadfastly refused all suitors, stating that she would never take a husband who was weaker than herself. She also shares her father's trait of leaping into battle without considering the consequences. Carla is the eldest child of Castor and Accela Vargas, being born around the same time as Liscia. She would take after her father and attend the Royal Officer's Academy, where she would befriend Liscia. She would go on to serve under her father in the Elfrieden Air Force. Like Castor, Carla believed that Kazuya had usurped the throne and forced her friend Liscia into an unwanted engagement. This opinion would soften somewhat when she began receiving letters from Liscia attempting to urge her to side with Kazuya prior to the One Week War. Carla would lead the charge against the Battleship Albert, but she did not realize that it was a diversion and had left her father vulnerable to a strike force led by Kazuya. By the time she had returned to the Red Dragon Castle, it was too late and her father had a Slave Collar placed on him. With no other choice, Carla submitted to having a Slave Collar placed on her. Now a slave to Kazuya, she was forced to help him win the One Week War. In the aftermath of the One Week War, both Castor and Carla were charged with treason and faced the death penalty. Liscia would attempt to convince Kazuya to take Carla as a Royal Consort or concubine to save her friend, much to Carla's and Kazuya's embarrassment. He would reject this proposal and instead, utilizing the power of the slave collar she wore, sentenced Carla to serve as a royal maid for Liscia and himself. Kazuya would also give Carla a secret order that, in the event that he were to turn tyrannical in his rule, Carla would have permission to kill him. Carla would attempt to reject this secret order, as if she were to carry it out the slave collar would kill her as well, but she would ultimately accept due to the fact she had grown to believe Liscia would never allow Kazuya to get to such a tyrannical state. In serving as a maid, Carla was placed under the tutelage of Serina, quickly becoming a favored target of 'buwwying, not bullying.' She has since taken over most of the general personal maid duties for Liscia from her mentor and was forced to wear a maid's uniform, to her embarrassment. Carla has frequently accompanied Liscia wherever she has gone, remaining by Liscia's side throughout the pregnancy. She has since become a routine caregiver to the twins and has become the first name that the twins have spoken, much to Liscia's disappointment. One of Serina's 'buwwying' cases towards Carla resulted in Carla appearing as the recurring character Miss Dran on one of the Jewel Voice programs that is routinely broadcast. The costume associated with Miss Dran was specifically picked by Serina, and Carla has extreme disgust and embarrassment at wearing it. When she had begun aiding in the caretaking of the twins, Carla had believed that the character was behind her. However, Miss Dran would return during the special episode that was broadcast in conjunction with Morse Butchy's music study. Carla would unleash her rage for the character in the episode, devastating the hero and Miss Dran's 'boss.' Mostly due to her revealing costume, Miss Dran is a popular character among the men of the Friedonia, much to Carla's embarrassment. Carla currently continues to serve as personal maid to, primarily, Liscia and aides her in caring for the twins Cian and Kazuha. As a dragonnewt, Carla possesses abilities derived from true dragons albeit in a vastly smaller level that make her formidable in battle: Enhanced strength and stamina, enhanced durability, flight, fire Breath. Combat skills: swordsmanship, leadership, and wyvern-riding. Like all dragons, Carla cannot stand extremely cold temperatures and winter weather. She is also very fearful of the Head Maid Serina.
- #13Castor Vargas
Keys: Castor
Castor Vargas was the former leader of the Air Force and is currently the Captain of the Aircraft Carrier Hiryuu. Because of the events that occurred during and after the One Week War, Castor was punished, and he was stripped of his title and family name of "Vargas." After a period of good behavior, he was allowed to see his family again without restrictions. Castor is described as a tall man, with red hair, and has the horns, wings and tail of a dragon. His species is classified as a dragonnewt. Castor was as headstrong and stubborn, with extreme pride. He is seen as formidable in direct combat, but is at a severe disadvantage when going up against an opponent who uses underhanded tactics. He also had a tendency to leap into battle without considering the consequences. After being defeated during the One Week War, Castor is a bit more humble and realizes the merits of caution and patience. He has learnt to be more calculating in tactics and instead of leaping into battle has begun to think about the aftermath of war as well. Castor Vargas is the son-in-law to Excel Walter and was the leader of the Air Force of the Vargas Duchy. Under his leadership were 10,000 wyvern-riding troops, with his daughter Carla Vargas as his second-in-command. At the time of summoning Kazuya Souma, he had already served Elfrieden for over a century. Prior to the One Week War, Castor, along with Georg Carmine, openly rebelled against the newly-appointed king and rejected his intent to disband the Air Force, Army and Navy to form a combined Armed Military. Castor believed that Kazuya had usurped the throne from Albert Elfrieden and was becoming a tyrant. Despite being corrected by Excel that Albert had willingly abdicated his throne to Kazuya, Castor stubbornly defied the new king. This would prove to be his undoing as Castor and his daughter were outwitted on the first day of the One Week War and captured. The Air Force was later used to subdue Georg Carmines's forces and drive out the invading Amidonian Army. For his defiance, Castor would have met with the death penalty. However, due to his century of service, Castor was spared and put under the command of Excel. He would later be appointed as the Captain of the newly-made carrier Hiryuu. While Kazuya led the National Defense Force to aid the Union of Eastern Nations a fishing fleet escorted by armed vessels from the Nine Headed Dragon Archipelago Union had begun poaching in Friedonian waters after attacking and chasing away local fishermen. The standard tactics of the Archipelago of using speed and agility to evade Friedonian ships were countered by Castor who fired artillery on the direction they are most likely to go. Thus, the space for maneuvering was reduced and one ship was sunk by Friedonia while the rest escaped. The surviving crew were rescued and captured to gain intelligence on the Archipelago. Since the incident with the fishing vessels, Castor was aboard the Friedonian ship that would capture another Archipelago vessel on which Shabon and Kishun were travelling to meet Kazuya. Castor is currently preparing the navy for potential actions against the Nine Headed Dragon Archipelago. As a dragonnewt, Castor possesses dragon-like abilities but in a reduced, humanoid form: flight, enhanced strength and durability, dragon breath. Castor can go toe-to-toe with Aisha Udgard. Castor is very courageous and is able to lead his wyvern knights into battle. Like all dragons and dragonnewts, Castor cannot handle extreme cold or winter weather. He is also described as a 'musclehead' and prefers to straight-forward charges and direct combat. As a result, he can be outwitted.
- #14Georg Carmine
Keys: Georg
Georg Carmine was the duke and leader of Elfrieden's Land Army prior to the One Week War. Georg Carmine is a lion-faced beastman with a scar on his left cheek and a burly, muscular build which stood nearly two meters tall . He has the appearance of a experienced warrior who had weathered many battles. Even at the age of fifty, he looked fierce and his very presence would make the atmosphere tense. Georg is seen as by soldiers and civilians alike as a shrewd tactician and a formidable combatant. He has a no-nonsense personality and gets to the point of the matter. He will not hesitate to do what is needed to be done, though he has shown to have a soft spot for Liscia Elfrieden, whom he treats like a surrogate daughter. Above all, he has a high sense of honor. Georg Carmine has a long history of serving in Elfrieden's Army and is well-respected among his peers. Even in defeat, he managed to take the head of an enemy commander and is feared throughout Landia. He was also Liscia's commanding officer during her training. After Kazuya Souma was appointed the new king of the Elfrieden Kingdom, Georg and Castor Vargas rebelled against him. During the Final Counsel, Georg explained that Kazuya had yet to prove himself worthy of being Albert Elfrieden's successor. At the time, Georg was also sheltering the corrupt nobles who had fled Parnam after Kazuya exposed their crimes, stripped them of their titles, and seized their assets. Georg stated it was his pride as a warrior and wanted to see if Kazuya could live up to it. He also believed that, since he was over 50, his body would inevitably deteriorate with time, so he wanted to go out in a blaze of glory like a warrior. Unknown to Kazuya, Castor, and Excel Walter, Georg's intention was to gather all the corrupt nobles in one spot and purposely 'lose' to Kazuya. This was because Elisha Elfrieden had told him of a past timeline in which the corrupt nobles led to the downfall of the Royal Family. After his defeat at the conclusion of the One Week War, Georg had a final conversation with Kazuya from behind a prison cell. Once he was satisfied that the kingdom and Liscia were in good hands, he committed suicide with poisoned wine given to him by Kazuya. It has been hinted that his suicide was staged so he could join the Black Cats as its official leader under the alias Kagetora. Later, Kazuya Souma posthumously pardoned and exonerated him and his group because they had done what was necessary for the kingdom by getting rid of the extremely corrupt nobles and aiding the kingdom in starting fresh. Georg is shown to be a formidable fighter, considering that he was eventually able to climb the ranks and become the general of the Elfrieden Army.
- #15Gaius Amidonia
Keys: Gaius
Gaius Amidonia was the father of Julius Amidonia and Roroa Amidonia and the crown prince of the Principality of Amidonia. Gaius was a tall, muscular man, with red hair and a small goatee Gaius was an arrogant and prideful man, who carried a longstanding grudge against the Elfrieden Kingdom, due to the war 50 years ago, where Amidonia lost half of its territory. He followed a 'military-first' policy and waited for the opportunity for revenge against Elfrieden. Even without getting to know him well, any person could tell that Gaius was a complete imbecile when it came to governing; being all to happy to waste whatever spare money was available on pointless military funding. Roroa particularly loathed her father for outright stealing her own funds, which she intended to help the poor economy of their country. Gaius Amidonia VIII was the crown prince and ruler of the Principality of Amidonia during the time of Kazuya Souma's summoning and ascension to the Elfrieden throne. Seeing Kazuya as a young and inexperienced ruler emboldened Gaius into offering assistance to both the Efrieden Kingdom and the Three Dukes. This was with the intent of regaining the land lost in the war with Elfrieden half a century ago. Due to the lack of farm-able areas, Amidonia could only rely on its mining industry for income and was in a constant state of food shortages. Since the death of his father, the former King of Amidonia, Gaius had ruled the principality with an iron fist and made certain that the citizens would always blame Elfrieden for their hardships, rather than trying to improve the nation's economy and infrastructure. With the rebellion of Castor Vargas and Georg Carmine, and the start of the One Week War, Gaius saw this as the perfect opportunity to invade Elfrieden during the conflict, and retake the territory that once belonged to Amidonia. Despite being warned by his Finance Minister Gatsby Colbert, that such an action would violate the First Clause of the Mankind Declaration Treaty, thereby forcing the Gran Chaos Empire to intervene, Gaius ignored all advice and moved 30,000 troops through the Ursula Mountains and attacked the Fort of Altomura. However, this act of war was anticipated by Kazuya Souma and his prime minister Hakuya Kwonmin. As a countermeasure, Excel Walter was already stationed at Altomura, and through its governor, Weist Garreau, was able to stall the siege for a day. After Castor and Georg were defeated, Kazuya announced his intention to invade Amidonia and take the capital city of Van. Gauis had no choice but abandon the siege and head back to Amidonia to save Van. During the return trek, the Amidonia Army suffered massive casualties, due to the muddy terrain, food and water supplies and harassment by the Marine Corps led by Juna Doma. Gauis ruthlessly sacrificed many of his foot soldiers in the muddy terrain and conscripted peasants into the army to build his numbers back up from 15,000 to 25,000. By the time Gaius and his forces reached Van, it was met by the already entrenched Elfrieden forces, which numbered 50,000. Despite putting up a fight, the outcome was inevitable and Gaius led 500 of his men in a suicidal charge in an attempt to kill Kazuya. Using a decoy to distract Ludwin and the Royal Guards, Gaius made his way to the Elfrieden encampment where he faced Carla Vargas and Kazuya's Little Musashibo dolls. Despite being heavily wounded and even taking a point-black explosion from a bomb in a Musashibo doll, Gaius kept on advancing. However Elfrieden archers launched a volley of arrows that dealt a fatal blow. Before leading the suicidal charge, Gaius had instructed his son Julius to escape the battle and place all the blame on the failed Elfrieden invasion on Gaius himself. This was so that the Gran Chaos Empire would not see this attempt at seizing territory as Julius' plan. He had also designated his son as the new ruler of Amidonia and told him to uphold the hatred against Elfrieden. However, Gaius' wishes would never come to pass after Julius was forced into exile and the whole of Amidonia was annexed. The final nail in the coffin was that his daughter Roroa would become Kazuya's Third Primary Queen, thereby legitimizing his claim to Amidonia. As a form of closure to this turn of events, Kazuya would hold a memorial festival to honor Gaius and settle any lasting resentment among the populace. Gaius was capable of leading an army and is trained in warfare and tactics. His methods were ruthless and he would sacrifice hundreds or even thousands of men to achieve his goals. Gaius had proven himself capable of holding his own against a Dragonnewt like Carla and several of Souma's Mushibo dolls. He has a cloak imbued with damage-reducing magic that lessened impacts from projectiles. Like his son, Gaius had no real talent in managing the day-to-day domestic affairs of the Principality, nor its economy other than diverting all profits towards strengthening the military. His rule by blaming all the country's woes on Elfrieden could only go so far; something his son tried to do but failed. His obsession over revenge against Elfrieden and re-taking Amidonia's lost territory made him extremely short-sighted and narrow-minded. His impatience and quick-temper eventually led to his demise and the annexation of his country. The public of Van never once acknowledged him beyond the day he died, showing just how much his own country hated him. They were more than happy to revolt against Julius once he attempted to reestablish Gaius's dictatorship. Roroa and Julius, his own children, both thought Gaius was a moron; though Julius was only smarter by a marginal degree, as he was not a fighter
- #16Julius Amidonia
Keys: Julius
Julius Amidonia is the exiled, unofficial ruler of Amidonia before its annex. He is the son of the late Gaius Amidonia and older brother of Roroa Amidonia. Julius is a young man in his twenties with a handsome face, and cold eyes that has a cold glint which chilled those who looked at them. Julius has brown short hair. Julius was a vain, egotistical individual, and had dreams of grandeur and conquest. Though not as hot-headed as his father, he did share the same ideals. However, his ability to govern a country was severely lacking as he did not understand the needs of the Amidonian citizens, nor was he able to solve domestic issues, since like his father, he followed a 'military first' outlook. In fact, Kazuya fairly warned and advised him to focus in the wellbeing of the citizens; even though he planned for Julius to self-destruct as a ruler. This is backed by his merchant-minded sister Roroa; she could see just how stupid Julius was, deciding to leave him to be doomed and save Amindonia by betrothal to Kazuya. Proof of his poor leadership was oppressing Van after they were given much better living conditions by Kazuya and encouraged to be expressive; Julius cut off the Gem Stone Broadcasts and destroyed the eight bridges over the river. Thus making the citizens hate him and outright desire occupation again. His personality becomes a bit more subdued after the disastrous invasion of Elfrieden and the annexation of his country. He initially held a large grudge against Kazuya for his defeat, and against his sister for taking away his country and birthright. However, due to leading the forces of the Kingdom of Lastania and his relationship with Tia Lastania, his attitude has changed for the better. He now supports his sister's engagement to Souma and even presses his sister into having a heir soon to continue the Amidonian bloodline. Julius represented Amidonia during the border skirmishes with the Elfrieden Kingdom and once alongside Colbert met Georg Carmine and Mio Carmine. During the rebellion of Georg Carmine and Castor Vargas, Gaius and Julius launch an invasion of the Elfrieden Kingdom in order to reclaim the territory Amidonia had lost a half-century ago. The goal was to take back the farm-able lands or the 'bread-basket' areas. This was crucial to Amidonia since the country was mostly mountainous and had little in terms of food production. With nothing but mining as revenue, the country was constantly suffering food shortages. However, since the people had been indoctrinated by anti-Elfrieden propaganda for three generations, it seemed that the entire population of Amidonia was fully supporting a war with the Elfrieden Kingdom. The aim was to annex those valuable lands with no fear of reprisal from the Gran Chaos Empire. Since Elfrieden had never signed with the Mankind Declaration Treaty, and therefore would not be able to use the first clause of no border changes due to military action, both father and son felt they could take back their country's former territories with impunity. Like his father, Julius ignored the pleas of the Financial Minister Gatsby Colbert, who pointed out that such an invasion would bring ruin to Amidonia. However, both father and son were outwitted by Weist Garreau's deception tactics, and the Amidonian Army soon found itself being forced to withdraw, once Kazuya declared war on Amidonia. By the time the Amidonian Army reached the capital city of Van, it had already suffered massive casualties and was forced to conscript peasants to rebuild their ranks. During the One Week War, Gaius Amidonia met his end in a suicidal charge, in an attempt to kill Souma. Julius had managed to escape, but could do nothing for Van as it was already fully occupied by Elfrieden's forces, and the Amidonian Army had neither the strength, numbers or resources to retake the city. With Julius now the ruler of Amidonia, (unofficially, since a coronation ceremony was never held after his father's death), he was forced to appeal to the Gran Chaos Empire in order to invoke the first clause of the Mankind Declaration Treaty, in order to get Van back. Incidentally, his haughty attitude and hatred toward Elfrieden did not help in the negotiations, and he was later removed from the discussion and made drunk, courtesy of the maid Serina. After a lengthy negotiation between Elfrieden and the Empire, Amidonia was able to regain the capital city, but much to Julius' consternation, was forced to pay enormous war reparations for invading Elfrieden in the first place. He was further frustrated to learn that his nation's only Jewel Voice Broadcast orb would be held as collateral, and that a great deal of the nation's armory had already been sold off to improve the infrastructure of Van. Julius' troubles did not end after the occupying forces left Van. Due to the citizens enjoying the entertainment, food supplies and overall freedoms granted during the occupation, they were very resentful of their ruler, once Julius began restricting them in an attempt to return things to the former status quo. He needlessly destroyed important bridges, just because they had been built by Elfrieden. He was also not respected by the region's nobles, who saw the new ruler as inexperienced and incompetent. It wasn't long before rebellions and riots began appearing throughout the country, many of which demanded that the whole of Amidonia be merged with Elfrieden. In an attempt to put down a major rebellion in the northwest, Julius led his army to combat the threat. However, that allowed the people to revolt in Van, declaring allegiance to Elfrieden and giving Souma a reason to occupy the city again. With no way of fighting the rebellions, the nobles, the re-occupation of Van; and the Amidonian Army being further weakened by massive waves of desertions, Julius was forced into exile. The whole country of Amidonia was eventually annexed by Elfrieden, following the invasions of the Republic of Turgis, and the Orthodox Papal State of Lunaria. Julius left for the Empire where he was waiting for an opportunity to incite a rebellion in the event Souma and Roroa mismanaged the principality. However, no such opportunity arose. Feeling lost, he wandered from country to country until he ended up at the Kingdom of Lastania of the Union of Eastern Nations. Julius joined Lastanian military and led the small military in defense against monster attacks from the Demon Lord's Domain which earned him the admiration and affection of the Lastanian's princess, Tia Lastania. However when a large wave of monsters attacked the Union, Lastania was nearly overrun and he requested aid from Friedonia through Roroa. Despite the resistance monsters entered and reached the royal manor before Friedonian forces arrived, dropping Dratroopers into the city while wyvern cavalry bombed the monsters outside the walls. There Julius reunited with Roroa and Souma, reconciling with them and giving up his rights to the Amidonian throne and agreeing to marry Tia. Julius and Tia would marry, receiving from Roroa construction materials as a wedding gift to rebuild Lastania. Julius, in turn, provided intelligence on Fuuga and Malmkhitan to the Kingdom of Friedonia. Functioning as an ear within the Union of Eastern Nations, Julius was one of the first to realize the danger that the combination of Fuuga and Hashim presented to those not aligned with them. Due to their connection and communications with Kazuya and Friedonia, Julius recognized that this included himself and Tia. Preemptively, Julius evacuated Tia and their unborn child, his in-laws, and a small number of Lastanian refugees to Friedonia. Julius would face a perilous escape from Lastania. Along with Jirukoma and a handful of soldiers, he would flee to the Nothung Dragon Knight Kingdom while being persued by Fuuga and his forces. The clash between the dragon knights and Fuuga was intense, but Julius, Jirukoma, and the others were able to escape to the kingdom. From there, they traveled to Friedonia where Julius reuntied with Tia and Roroa. Julius would go on to pledge himself to Kazuya's service, quickly becoming an invaluable military advisor. Julius is trained to lead men on the battlefield and has been shown to think things through in terms of tactics. After assuming the title of crown prince after the death of his father, Julius shows he has little to no experience in properly overseeing his nation. He shows himself to be ignorant of the wills of the people and has no economic sense. Furthermore, since he did not consolidate his foundation of rule, most if not all of the nobility did not respect him, and saw him as an unreliable and inexperienced ruler.
- #17Jeanne Euphoria
Keys: Jeanne
Jeanne Euphoria is the younger sister of the former Empress of Gran Chaos Empire, Maria Euphoria. Jeanne is similar to her elder sister in appearance but keeps her golden hair tied in a ponytail with a ribbon and her eyes have a slightly more courageous look. Jeanne is described as the opposite to her idealistic sister and shares many of the realistic viewpoints of Kazuya Souma. She also possesses a keen mind and is able to negotiate with Elfrieden's Prime Minister Hakuya Kwonmin. She also enjoys complaining about Maria and spends time with Hakuya complaining about their respective masters using the Jewel Voice Broadcast. According to Maria she has become more lively since she began her complaining sessions. Jeanne Euphoria, along with her sister Maria, were first introduced shortly after Kazuya Souma began his reforms. Both were impressed at how he was able to pay the war tribute, get the Elfrieden Kingdom's economy back on its feet and solve its food shortages. After the One Week War, Jeanne would secretly visit Amidonia's capital city Van, during its occupation by Elfrieden, where she would meet with Juna Doma and Kazuya Souma. She was further impressed with the usage of the Jewel Broadcast System and decided to implement it in the Gran Chaos Empire. She also apologized to Kazuya, on behalf of the Empire, for causing him to be summoned and taken from his home. Since the occupation of Van was in violation of the First Clause of the Mankind Declaration Treaty, (despite the fact that Amidonia had invaded Elfrieden in the first place), Jeanne was forced to act as a mediator in order to return Van to its home country. However, in order to make certain that Amidonia did not go unpunished for its aggression, she forced Julius Amidonia to agree to pay huge reparations, or risk losing the protection that the Treaty provided. During the negotiations, Jeanne was so impressed by the ideas and innovations of Kazuya, that she even asked Liscia Elfrieden to reinstate her father Albert Elfrieden as ruler of Elfrieden, so that Kazuya would be offered a high-ranking position in the Empire. She even offered her sister to make Kazuya the Emperor. Liscia immediately turned down the idea. In the end, Kazuya decided to instead form a secret alliance with the Empire. In addition to her standard duties within the Empire, Jeanne has served as the primary point of contact with Friedonia when it comes to political matters. She frequently uses the private Jewel Voice Broadcast line the two countries have set up to confer with Hakuya on various international policies between the two nations, and has formed a friendly relationship with him where they both vent their complaints about their respective rulers. According to Juna Doma, Jeanne is a formidable warrior as Juna was uncertain if she could defeat her. Jeanne would later comment that she would have a hard time against Aisha Udgard. Jeanne is the supreme commander of all the military forces of the Gran Chaos Empire. Since her sister Maria is currently unmarried, should anything happen to her, Jeanne would become the next empress. Jeanne has shown considerable skills in the art of diplomacy, often negotiating with Hakuya Kwonmin.
- #18Maria Euphoria
Keys: Maria
Maria Euphoria is the older sister to Jeanne Euphoria. She was Empress of the former Gran Chaos Empire and the first female to rule the empire. Maria is a beautiful woman with well-balanced figure and light, wavy blond hair. She has a beautiful face with childlike large eyes which makes her appear younger than she really is. She is approximately the same age as Kazuya Souma. Maria is described as the exact opposite to her sister Jeanne and Kazuya. She is idealistic and hopeful, though she is also described as slovenly by Jeanne and shown to be somewhat air-headed at times. Like Kazuya, she keeps a bed in her office. After the death of her father, the fifth emperor of the Gran Chaos Empire, Maria took the throne as the eldest child and began many large scale reforms to integrate non-humans into the Empire. Her crowning achievement was the creation of the Mankind Declaration Treaty, which was seen as the unifying force for all nations to oppose the Demon King. Due to her reforms, charisma, idealistic personality and beauty, Maria was soon called by the people as the Holy Saint of the Gran Chaos Empire. This unintentional and unwanted title gained the animosity of the Orthodox Papal State of Lunaria, who see this as an insult to their belief that only the Pope can bestow the title of saint. Maria immediately began taking notice of the exploits of Kazuya and the many reforms and innovations he introduced, to bring the Elfrieden Kingdom out of its economic recession and food shortages, as well as pay the war tribute it owed to the Empire. After the One Week War, Jeanne investigated the city of Van during its occupation and brought back the innovation of using the Jewel Voice Broadcast as a form of mass media, which was soon adopted by the Empire. The negotiation to return Van to the Principality of Amidonia would result in the secret bipartite alliance between the Empire and Elfrieden, later to become Friedonia. Maria would at last speak with Kazuya, via Jewel Voice Broadcast during the annexation of Amidonia and the creation of the Kingdom of Friedonia. She questioned the annexation of Amidonia but was told of the fatal pitfall of the Mankind Declaration Treaty. The empress would warn Souma of the dangers of dealing with the Orthodox Papal State of Lunaria, once they contacted him. She would later take part in the tripartite medical alliance with Friedonia, the Gran Chaos Empire, and the Republic of Turgis. She was so interested in the hovercraft Roroa Maru that she even offered a great deal of money to purchase it and thought Kazuya had to decline to protect state secrets. Surprisingly enough, the Lorelei Project was also adopted with the empress herself becoming the most viewed idol, much to Jeanne's consternation. Apparently, the citizens enjoy watching the day-to-day activities of the Empress on the Jewel Voice Broadcast, thus making her Landia's top 'reality star.' Maria would have a secret meeting with Souma during his trip to the Mercenary State Zem, the first time the two would meet in person. While the meeting was overall kept a secret, it did serve as the first public acknowledgement of the previous alliance formed during the war with Amidonia. Maria would make a secret request of Souma, the content of which has yet to be revealed, although Souma would mentally mention that fulfilling the request would be difficult if not impossible. Maria have a daughter with Souma and her name is Stella Euphoria. Maria is shown to be capable of leading her country.
- #19Genia Maxwell
Keys: Genia
Genia Maxwell is a woman in her early twenties who is often described as having a disheveled and messy appearance with regular features and semi-long hair. Being a self-proclaimed over-scientist, she is seen mostly in a white lab coat that is way too big for her with the sleeves going past her hands and a little pair of glasses perched on her nose. Genia is reclusive, but is quite personable as she is capable of maintaining normal conversations, even when others dismiss her ideas as crazy. This is most noticeable in her interactions with Kazuya Souma, Ludwin Arcs and her newfound researcher colleagues. Despite being of the noble house Maxwell, Genia does not care about maintaining her class standing as she rather prefers to expend her energy towards advancements in the fields of technology, magic and dungeonology. She has a tendency to work on an idea to the exclusion of all else. Once complete, she will then move on to the next idea. Genia is the last living member of the noble house of Maxwell in Elfrieden. It is not directly stated what exactly happened to her family, but the reputation of the Maxwell house being full of crazy researchers and experimenters suggests that many probably met unfortunate early accidents. The Maxwell house has had strong relations with the Arcs house, leaving the management of their lands to the Arcs house so as to focus on research. As such, the Maxwell lands were, over time, incorporated into the Arcs domain, leaving them in the possession of a cleared dungeon. Due to the close nature of the Maxwell and Arcs houses, Ludwin Arcs and Genia were childhood friends with him often cautioning her in her obsessions as well as frequently checking up and supporting her. During her time in the Forbidden Army, she continued to conduct research. In one such project, she developed an arrowhead containing seeds, the intent of which to use to plant trees to spring up after a battle. However, the enchanted light magic on the arrows caused accelerated growth to the seeds, leading the test trial to sprout trees throughout the castle's courtyard. As a result, Genia was dismissed from the Forbidden Army. It is revealed that after Genia's dismissal from the Forbidden Army, Ludwin used a large portion of his own earnings to continue to support her. After Souma E. Friedonia took the throne and began his search for talented individuals, Ludwin expressed interest in introducing Genia to him. However, with the early policies and reforms that Souma put forth as well as events such as the One Week War, this introduction was delayed. Genia was actually the individual responsible for a dragon skeleton that was uncovered during one such project being stolen, becoming the core of Mechadra. After their first meeting, Souma realizes the continued potential that Genia holds as a researcher and quickly seeks to maintain her ties to the kingdom. With Liscia Elfrieden's assistance, they somewhat impose that Ludwin and Genia get married, to which both agree, with hints of both happiness and embarrassment at. Genia factually states at that time that she believed it would happen eventually. The two were married on the same day as Kazuya's coronation and wedding in the joint ceremonies across Parnam. Genia has since been involved in a variety of projects and research with the joint international Drill project being one of the most prominent. This project was done in conjunction with Merula Merlin, Trill Euphoria and Taru Ozumi. The four have become friends as a result of their work together, though at times Trill's obsession with Genia is off-putting to her since it interrupts time with Ludwin. Genia has magic ability with the Earth Element, enabling her to create and move golems. Although the title of 'Overscientist' is self-proclaimed, Genia exhibits a great capacity to understand the advanced technologies found in dungeons as well as plans that Kazuya Souma presents to her. She also occasionally displays advanced knowledge in fields such as biology, chemistry and physics.
- #20Landia
Keys: Landia
The Other World consists of a super-continent named Landia, which is surrounded by many islands of varying size. There are various Countries and Kingdoms, consisting of people and being belonging to various Races like Human, Beastman, Elves, Dwarves, Dragonewts, Sea Serpents and many more. Some races co-exists, while there are countries which give preferential treatment to one particular race only, and some which forbade the entry of people from other races. The northernmost reaches of the super-continent Landia is connected to a different dimension called "Demon World", from which Demons have appeared and fought and conquered many regions, thus establishing the region "Demon's Lord Domain". The climate in Landia is not set in seasons. Also the weather turns more colder and frigid as one goes towards the southern end of the continent. There is an unexplored icy continent to the south of Landia and it is possible that the continent is situated close to the south pole. The Continent of Landia in general follows the "Continental Calendar" which has 8 days in a Week with 4 weeks in a Month, making each month consist of 32 days. There are 12 Months in a year, thus making an year consist of 384 days (there is no "Leap Year" concept in the Continental Calendar).
- #21Elfrieden Kingdom
Keys: Elfrieden
The Elfrieden Kingdom was a nation of Landia that occupied the south eastern area of the continent and the only known Kingdom with the knowledge of performing the "Hero Summoning Ritual". The kingdom was founded by the First Hero King who was a Summoned Hero, as a multiracial nation for humans and various races so that they could co-exists, and it eventually became a powerful nation in the east. However a period of political instability followed by increase in corruption and weakening leadership had caused the kingdom to decline until a hero summoning ritual succeeded in summoning Kazuya Souma. The Elfrieden Kingdom was founded more than 500 years ago after the founding war with both humans and non-humans participating in its founding under its first king who was also the first hero to be summoned from another world. The first king would be one of the few outside the Nothung Dragon Knight Kingdom to become a dragon rider. By the time of the 12th king the Gran Chaos Empire's expansionism caused concern in the kingdom which also adopted expansionist policies. This era saw the Elfrieden Kingdom annexing almost half of the territories of the Kingdom of Amidonia including the main grain producing regions. As a result Amidonia which became a principality after the war became bitter enemies with Elfrieden for decades. However the rapid expansion exhausted the kingdom and the 12th king was assassinated by those unhappy with the situation. The sudden death of the 12th king sparked a succession crisis and the three dukes which controlled the Army ,Navy and the Airforce avoided involvement in the crisis fearing a possible civil war. The bloody conflict resulted in the royal bloodline being nearly wiped out with Elisha Elfrieden being the only survivor with a claim on the throne. Thus Elisha's husband Albert Elfrieden became the 13th king.
- #22Principality of Amidonia
Keys: Principality of Amidonia
The Principality of Amidonia was a nation situated in eastern Landia before being annexed by the Elfrieden Kingdom to form the United Kingdom of Elfrieden & Amidonia, more commonly known as the Kingdom of Friedonia. Before its annexation the principality was a militarist feudal dictatorship under the Amidonian royal family, who extensively used anti-Elfrieden propaganda to build support for excessive military spending. Its capital city was Van. Its previous ruler was Gaius Amidonia, and for a brief period later, his son Julius Amidonia.
- #23Gran Chaos Empire
Keys: Gran Chaos Empire
The Gran Chaos Empire is a nation situated in western Landia and is the largest in the continent in terms of territory excluding Demon Lord's Domain. The Empire is considered the most powerful nation in the world and has numerous vassal states. However it also has the largest border with the Demon Lord's Domain and is attempting to unite the nations of Landia under the Mankind Declaration to counter the invaders. The current Empress of the Gran Chaos Empire is Maria Euphoria. The capital is Valois. It currently shares borders with "Star Dragon Mountain Range", "Mercenary State Zem", "Republic of Turgis", "Orthodox Papal State of Lunaria" and the "Demon's Lord Domain". The predecessor to the Gran Chaos Empire was the Chaos Kingdom which was founded during the troubled time known as the Chaotic Period. The Chaos Kingdom was founded under a powerful human king and power was centralized around the king to the level of a dictatorship. This system allowed the Kingdom to become one of the powerful nations after the end of the Chaotic Period. Around a hundred years before the current events Manas Chaos was born to the royal family and inherited the throne after the death of his father and elder brother in war against the Euphoria Kingdom. As the Euphoria and Chaos Kingdoms were almost equal in power Manas decided to avoid war for the moment and married the daughter of the king of Euphoria Kingdom and took the name Manas Euphoria. After dealing with dissenters and absorbing nearby smaller nations, Manas invaded the Euphoria Kingdom and conquered it. After the conquest Manas continued to expand the kingdom and renamed it the Gran Chaos Empire but did not take back his old name. Thus the royal family of the Gran Chaos Empire would carry the name Euphoria to the modern day. Manas who became known as Emperor Chaos died at the age of fifty. The second emperor maintained stability with the aid of loyal servants of Manas. However as a result of the Empire being a predominantly human nation the royal family lacked vassals from long lived races. Thus by the time of the third emperor the loyal attendants of Manas had passed away. In order to gain support and consolidate power the third emperor launched a series of invasions in an attempt to emulate emperor Manas which would backfire creating a world wide war that caused the nations including the Empire to become weak. With support for the emperor eroding the Empire faced a series of civil wars with the third emperor dying at the hands of rebels in one of such conflicts.
- #24Demon Lord's Domain
Keys: Demon Lord's Domain
As stated, the Demon Lord's Domain stretches across the entire northern area of the main continent of Landia, plus several islands in the northern seas. It shares its southern borders with the Gran Chaos Empire, the Nothung Dragon Knight Kingdom and the Union of Eastern Nations. Off to its northwest side is the Spirit Kingdom of Garlan. It's said that the Domain occupies about one-third of the continent of Landia and is about equal in size to the Gran Chaos Empire. Approximately 10 years before the summoning of Kazuya Souma, the north pole of the continent of Landia opened up, allowing a horde of different monsters to enter and begin causing havoc among the surrounding kingdoms, especially the Chaos Kingdom, the predecessor to the Gran Chaos Empire. This caused the many nations to band together to form an allied army in order to push the monsters back. However, the invading allied army that was sent into the Demon Lord's Domain was totally annihilated. At present, the entire region had reached a stalemate with the establishment of the Mankind Declaration Treaty to keep the Demon Lord's Domain from expanding any further. When it was discovered that Tomoe Inui could actually communicate with the demons and monsters of that area, Kazuya began to suspect that the human kingdoms may have unknowingly started the war against the Demon Lord. Furthermore, after hearing that the soldiers of the Gran Chaos Empire were able to eat monster meat and that demons cooked and ate monsters Kazuya theorized that demons and monsters have a similar relationship to humans and animals. At present, no one had ever seen the Demon Lord and some question his existence. By the time of Julius Amidonia's exile to the Union of Eastern Nations, there has been an increase in monster attacks along the border with the Demon Lord's Domain.
- #25Technology
Keys: Technology
Technology in Landia is a mix of technical, physical and magical aspects. But since there haven't been much development in the technical aspects of technology, many of the system rely on primitive or improper methods, like large Ships being hauled by large tamed beasts, tamed Wyverns carrying Gondola, or lack of knowledge on pathogens resulting in improper usage of Healing Magic, etc. Also many of the currently used technological items are from the Lost Ancient Civilization (these items are commonly referred as "Artifacts"), and information on them are scarce and missing, so the main purpose for those technology is unknown, but different uses for them have been discovered. In the world of Landia, steel ships are not propelled by internal combustion engines, but are pulled by giant Sea Dragons. Basically, steel ships are sea-going carriages. The battleship Albert was the only commissioned steel ship of Elfrieden's Forbidden Army during the time of Kazuya Souma's summoning. Like all other steel ships, it was pulled through the sea by giant Sea Dragons. it was described as having two, large, dual cannons fore and aft as well as several, smaller secondary batteries. The armaments are not fixed and were removed to make more room for cargo. During the One Week War, Kazuya used the battleship as a makeshift railway gun, by putting it on rollers and having 3 Rhinosaurus haul it on land. To defend against air attack by wyverns, anti-air ballastae were installed. Carrier Hiryuu: The Hiryuu is the first aircraft carrier of Landia, which means it carries its own air power, (wyverns), at sea. It is also the first steel ship that does not rely on Sea Dragons for propulsion. Instead it uses several Little Susumu devices to drive it through the water. The carrier is able to use wyverns at sea by training them to think the ship is an island, thereby conquering their fear of flying over large expanses of water. Its current captain is Castor Vargas and it is named after a World War II carrier. Roroa Maru: The first hovercraft of Landia. It rides on a cushion of air and can travel over water and land. As a hovercraft, it is able to traverse any terrain without issues. Though difficult to use and costly to produce, it is seen by the Gran Chaos Empire and the Republic of Turgis as valuable in terms of transport during the winter. It is named after Roroa Amidonia as it was the Silver Deer company that provided the funds for its development. Lion-Dog Cannon: It is a mini-cannon powered by gunpowder with a caliber of around 60 millimeters. Primarily by the navy of Nine-Headed Dragon Archipelago for naval battles and due to its light weight, it can be easily mounted even on the smallest boats, and has just enough power to be effectively used against wooden boats and ships by taking advantage at enemies weak points and works well even at a close-range. Repeating Bolt Thrower: The counter to wyvern cavalry, this is Landia's anti-air weapon. It is similar to appearance to modern rocket artillery battery. The bolts that are shot with this weapon are enchanted with homing magic. Repeating bolt throwers are usually mounted on stationary objects, such as Georg Carmine's castle walls. Dratroopers have proven themselves to be able to neutralize repeating bolt throwers while on descent. Mechadra: Mechadra is a dragon skeleton that was discovered by Genia Maxwell and reassembled and covered in metallic plates. Much to Kazuya's shock, it was discovered that he could make it move using his Living Poltergeist. The statue reminds him of a kaiju movie, hence the name of Mechadra. It made an appearance on Silvan's show. It was Silvan's mount when he fought the 'Death Rhino'. The purpose was to create new products for Roroa to sell. Little Susumu: The Little Susumu is a propulsion device created by Over-scientist Genia Maxwell. It has the appearance of a large blade-less fan. Powered by a piece of charged Cursed Ore, it rapidly sucks in water or air in front of it and expels in from the rear to propel an object. The mass production model is the Little Susumu Mark V with I-IV being prototypes that were destroyed during testing. It used to propel large ships similar to a screw propeller and to push air into the skirt of hovercrafts. A miniaturized version was developed to be carried on wyverns giving them superior speed than the otherwise faster griffons. Shock Absorbing Material: Originally created by Genia Maxwell upon the request of "Kazuya Souma" in order to make better and more comfortable transportation vehicles. The first prototype was created out of the body fat of "Giganto Armadillo", which had powerful shock absorbing qualities. And in order to utilize it, she had processed the fat in a more usable form. But since the source material was too costly and precious, "Kazuya" asked Dr.Mattis Cosno and his team in the "Cosno Labs" to create a more budget-efficient version of it, which they created by utilizing the cocoons of a certain type of Silkworm and it could easily be mass-produced. But since this material reacted poorly to heat and flames, they applied anti-fire and anti-heat process during the processing of the silk. Roman Concrete: A mixture of volcanic ash and limestone, creating a construction material for roads, bridges and buildings. Also called ancient concrete, it is strong and flexible enough to withstand cracking from thousands of pounds of constant pressure. It will even withstand the full impact of a charging Rhinosaurus. Stated by Kazuya, that buildings made from this material are still standing after 2,000 years. Drill: The Drill was jointly developed by the Kingdom of Friedonia, Gran Chaos Empire and the Republic of Turgis. The research team was led by Genia Maxwell, Merula Merlin, Trill Euphoria and Taru Ozumi. Several types of drills of were created. The Little Piercer is a flat faced stamp-type drill powered by Cursed Ore with multiple blades for digging similar to those used to dig subway tunnels. When the front comes in contact with a rock the spinning blades chip away the rock. The current Model is the Little Piercer MK XII however its speed is still too slow. While a conical drill was also possible because the tip quickly wears off it is unsuitable for large drilling projects. A miniaturized type of drill was developed for Kuu's Drill Cudgel which contain cylindrical metal pieces like a hand drill which begin spinning when a button is pressed. Cycle: Cycles were developed in Friedonia by Genia with directions from Souma but due to complexity issues with the gear and chain mechanisms Taru's help was taken. It was intended to solve the issue of inability to use horses in the carrier Hiryuu but the costs of production were too high and their feasibility was limited as they can only travel in paved roads, commoners can't afford to buy them while nobles have horses, having to keep hands on the handle while peddling can be dangerous as monsters roam outside of cities. Thus Rent-a-Cycle shops were opened within cities renting mostly Tricycles as they can be used without training. Three-Eyedine: Originally referred as "the drug", is an antibiotic created by the "Three-Eyed" race as a way to combat dangerous pathogens that could cause infectious or epidemic diseases, which even the Light Elemental Magic (aka., Healing Magic) can't cure. Hypodermic Needle: A device used to safely inject medications or drugs into a patient's bloodstream. Kazuya had contracted Taru Ozumi and other Turgis craftsmen to mass-produce them.
- #26Magic
Keys: Magic, Magicium
The magic system in of Landia is based on the user's aptitude for different elements. There are six defined elements that one can use, namely: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Light and Dark. All people in the Landia have the ability to use Magic by utilizing the element called "Magicium", but the ability to use it depends on that persons aptitude and knowledge on Magic. Aptitude for Magic may vary from being able to use it on basic low scale level, to an advance level of being able to imbue it on weapons to increase range or power or apply additional affect, and then finally being able to use it on a more profound experienced level of manipulation of the elements directly, for greater affects. The people who are able to use Magic on a profound experienced level are generally referred as "Mage". In order to verify the type and element of Magic a person can use, they use a devices which looks like a 'stone slate', that makes the person view the type of magic and its abilities in their mind when they touch it. No one currently knows the principle and mechanic on how the 'stone slate' works, mainly because its an artifact from lost ancient magic technology. In order to use magic, there is generally no need for spells or any incantation, as the effect mainly depends on how a person wants to use it. The different types of elements are as follows: Fire - Manipulation of Fire in various forms of attack and defense. Easier to imbue effects on weapons. Higher attack power. Water - Manipulation of Water in various forms of attack and defense. Allows creation of Mist and Ice. Ice manipulation can be imbued on weapons. Earth - Manipulation of Earth in various forms of attack and defense. Allows creation of Golem and control Gravity. Wind - Manipulation of Wind in various forms of attack and defense. Easier to imbue effects on weapons. Light - Mainly Healing-type magic. Dark - Usage of Unique Spells or Abilities which can't be categorized with other elements. Varies person to person. Listening to songs seems to help enhance the power of magic used by individuals. The base principal behind this concept is that, by enabling the listener to envision more clearly on a particular point, it helps the listener to boost the power of their magic spells based on what they perceived. For example, if a person hears a song which helps them envision flames more clearly, then that users fire magic is boosted as a result. This theory applies on any work or subject possible, as long as the song helps boosts the imagination of the listener. While primarily it had been thought that Light Element Magic could only heal physical damage of a body, but could not heal diseases. But its has been later found out that, the reason for this issue is because of lack of understanding of a human body. Just like with the Work Song concept, the lack of imagination and understanding had been holding back Light Magic users to fully utilize their magic's maximum potential. But if a Light Magic User, who knows about the body structure and know how it works, and understands what is needed to help that person, he/she can use their Light Magic instead to cure that person of diseases as well. Summoning is an uncategorized form of Magic, and the only known form of it is a Ritual Magic named "Hero Summoning". Currently the only known Kingdom that could use the said ritual was the "Elfrieden Kingdom" (later name changed to "Kingdom of Friedonia"). Some races like Dragon, have the innate ability to manipulate magical energy differently compared to regular Magic. They are able to channel the magical energy internally to use the elements. For Dragon's like Ruby, they generally have the affinity to use Fire. While Magic, though miraculous and is a fundamental part of life in Landia, is not without its limitations: Certain types of magic cannot be used in certain places in which they are weak. For example, any kind of Magic is not useful for combat over seas and oceans (even Water Magic), which is the primary reason why artillery's have been developed and deployed on ships. Imbuing an object with magic is also dependent on its mass, so therefore attaching a spell to something as small as a bullet will not be as substantial as attaching a spell to an arrow. The number of individuals possessing the Dark Element is very scarce, with only Kazuya Souma, Tomoe Inui and the former queen of Elfrieden Elisha Elfrieden as currently known users. Large expenditures of magic energy is very taxing on the caster. For example, the "Roroa Maru" hovercraft requires a large group of casters to expend nearly all their energy just to charge it for one day.
- #27Races
Keys: Races
The continent of Landia is populated by beings of various different races and each have there unique racial characteristic. These races include humans, elves, beastmen, three-eyed, true dragons, kobito, dwarves, hobbits, celestials, mermaids, mixed-race, etc.
There are sub-categories of different races, for example, light elves, dark elves, high elves.
- #28Wyverns
Keys: Wyverns
Wyverns are similar to smaller dragons with winged, front limbs and can breathe fire. Despite this they are not true dragons and are also much weaker. They are the most common type of flying mount and are used by many countries as a form of air cavalry. Wyverns have a fear of flying over great distances of water and will not fly any further if they lose sight of land. Though not as maneuverable as Griffons, they have greater range and are compared to bombers by Kazuya Souma. Wyverns share the same weaknesses as all reptiles and become sluggish in extreme cold or winter weather.
- #29Griffons
Keys: Griffons
Griffons are beasts with the heads, claws and wings of an eagle, and the bodies of lions. They are considered as extremely maneuverable and are compared by Kazuya like fighter planes. However, they have a very short range and are considered almost impossible to breed domestically. So far, only the Gran Chaos Empire has been able to successfully breed them. Like wyverns, griffons have a fear of flying over water. In fact, this makes their range even shorter than wyverns, as they are unable to cross wide rivers or lakes without losing sight of the opposite shore.
- #30Rhinosaurus
Keys: Rhinosaurus
The rhinosauruses are beasts of burden and are commonly used by many nations as a form of heavy land transport. They are reptilian and possesses large horns. It is noted that riding a rhinosaurus at top speed can cause motion-sickness. In addition to their ability to haul cargo, they are also used by the Gran Chaos Empire as a form of mobile artillery with large cannons strapped to their backs. They can also be used as living battering rams. Rhinosauruses are simple-minded and according to Tomoe Inui, only require good food and a safe place to breed. Like all reptiles, they have a weakness to extreme cold and cannot be used in winter weather.
- #31Sea Dragon
Keys: Sea Dragon
Sea Dragons are massive water-type dragons that are used to haul steel warships. Unlike wooden ships, steel vessels are too massive to be propelled by oars or sails. There are no internal combustion engines in the world of Landia, so these ships are tethered to Sea Dragons, essentially becoming giant carriages. The obvious weaknesses to this configuration is the tether between the ship and the Sea Dragons. Severing it will leave the ship motionless and unable to maneuver. Also to note is the fact that the Sea Dragon is not the only animal that is used for maritime propulsion.
- #32Gelin
Keys: Gelin
The gelin is a jelly-like creature with a central nucleus. It is commonly found in all areas and is said to have a delicate body that will explode into a puddle of blue liquid if struck by a hard blow. However, Poncho Panacotta had discovered that the gelin can be harvested intact and be used as a food source. Due to his travels, he had learned from a small tribe, that the gelin's nucleus could be killed, using a light tap with a small stick in a certain area. As a result, the gelin dies, leaving its body intact. Two hours after death is the optimal time to slice its body into noodles, cook them in a broth, and adding spices to create a dish called 'gelin udon.'
- #33Octopus
Keys: Octopus
Like the same animal on Earth, the octopus is a soft-bodied, eight-limbed mollusc. However, save for a few villages living on the coast, most of the populace of Landia were unaware that octopi were edible and normally threw them back. One of the first foods that Kazuya Soma had prepared during the Jewel Voice Broadcast was boiled octopus and the Japanese fried octopus dish called takoyaki. Like the gelin, the octopus was embraced as a staple food to combat the food shortages.
- #34Giant Locust
Keys: Giant Locust
Like the same animal on Earth, the giant locust is a six-legged insect. However, this particular species is about the size of a large prawn. What was even more surprising was that it was cooked with soy sauce, or 'hishio sauce' by the Mystic Wolf Tribe.
- #35Giganto Armadillo
Keys: Giganto Armadillo
Similar to a glyptodon, Giganto Armadillo is a large animal with hard armor shell body and mostly live in the forest. There shell is said to be practically impossible to break with physical attack, and this ability to withstand almost any physical attack comes from the fat deposits under their armor shell, which has great shock-absorbing abilities.
- #36Numoth
Keys: Numoth
A species of elephant found in the Republic of Turgis. It is described as similar to the ancient woolly mammoth of Earth but has four tusks instead of two. They are used by the people for travel and transport, but are limited in terms of cargo capacity. The military of Turgis also train Numoths for war.
- #37Temsbock
Keys: Temsbock
Temsbock are horned beasts that look like a combination of a cow and a goat that are raised Malmkhitan. They are known for their ability to leap long distances giving them a form limited flight and has the strength to leap up a castle wall in three bounds. They are used by the leaping cavalry of Malmkhitan allowing them to suddenly appear and disappear on the battlefield causing confusion among the enemy.
- #38Horned Doldon
Keys: Horned Doldon
Horned Doldons are dolphin-like creatures with a horn similar to an unicorn used by the Nine Headed Dragon Archipelago Union to draw their ships. While they lack the drawing power of Sea Dragons they are faster and more maneuverable.
- #39Earth Dragon
Keys: Earth dragon
Earth dragons are a type of wyvern that lack the ability to fly and breathe fire. Instead they use their devolved wings to maintain balance as they run on two legs. It has horns and its body is covered in spikes similar to a wyvern but is much larger in size coming close to a true dragon. However they are untamable and the Mercenary State Zem is known for capturing them for fights in the colosseum.
- #40Flying Tsuchinoko
Keys: Flying Tsuchinoko
They are plump, winged snake monsters found in the Demon Lord's Domain. They are edible monsters, so Souma cooked one of them in Lastania. The purpose was to teach the Lizardmen monsters how to eat other monsters. It is also probably the monster that Jeanne ate when she was at the northern border of the Gran Chaos Empire.
- #41Elves
Keys: Elves, Dark Elves, High Elves, Light Elves
Dark Elves: Racial traits; brown-skinned, silver hair. High level of combat ability. Light elves: Racial traits; pale-skinned, pointed-ear and blonde hair. High elves: Racial traits; pointed-ear and crimson eyes. High level of magical ability.
- #42Beastmen
Keys: Beastman
Beastman are a race of beings, who have animalistic features along with a humanoid figure. There are two types of Beastman. Partial Characteristic types: They have partial animalistic features, like having animal ears or tails only, with the rest of the body and face being similar to a normal human. Cat-Eared Beastmen: Humanoid beings with partial animalistic characteristic of cat ears and tail. Nanna Kamizuki is a member of this race. Lion Beastman: Humanoid beings with partial animalistic characteristics of lion ears and tail. Easily confused with Cat-Eared Beastman. Mystic-Fox: Humanoid beings with partial animalistic characteristic of fox ears and tail. Kaede Foxia is a member of this race. Mystic Tanuki: Humanoid beings with partial animalistic characteristics of racoon dog (tanuki) ears and tail. Often confused with Raccoon Beastmen, the easiest way to tell them apart is by looking at their tail, Mystic Tanuki don't have rings on their tail, but Raccoon Beastmen do. Mystic Wolf: Humanoid beings with partial animalistic characteristic of wolf ears and tail. Tomoe Inui and her family are members of this race. The mystic wolves currently have a monopoly on the production of miso and soy sauce. Raccoon Beastman: Humanoid beings with partial animalistic characteristics of raccoon ears and a ringed tail, unlike Mystic Tanuki which does not have rings on their tail. Snow Bear Beastman: Humanoid beings with partial animalistic characteristics of bear ears, tail, and their fur being white in color. Snow Monkey Beastman: Humanoid beings with partial animalistic characteristics of monkey ears, tail, and their fur being white in color. It is also noted that they tend to be more dexterous. Snow Rabbit Beastman: Humanoid beings with partial animalistic characteristics of rabbit ears, tail, and their fur being white in color. It is also noted that they tend to be more dexterous. Walrus Beastman: Humanoid beings with partial animalistic characteristics elongated, walrus-like teeth. They are also noted to have a larger build and fat stores. Prominent Characteristic types: They have more prominent animalistic features, with animal faces and fur on their body. Lion-Headed Beastman: Humanoid beings with lion face. Wolf Beastman: Humanoid beings with wolf face. Georg Carmine is a member of this race. Also referred as "Gray Wolf". Beowulf Gardner is a member of this race.
- #43True dragon
Keys: True Dragon
A race of highly intelligent beings with reptilian body, a life span of over thousands of years and the ability to take on humanoid forms. Primarily living in the "Star Dragon Mountain Range" under the rule of the Mother Dragon. They are extremely powerful, to the extent that a single Dragon can easily destroy a small nation by itself. In their humanoid form, they look identical to a normal human, except they have horns on their head and a tail. When they transform into their humanoid form, their scales changes form and can either be turned into clothing of any design, or made to disappear entirely. The color of their hair, eyes and clothing in humanoid form matches the color of their scale in Dragon form. Dragon's mostly are neutral in their stance and avoid unnecessary conflict, only fighting when needed to. But since they are unable to reproduce between themselves, they form a 'Riding Contract' (in the form of marriage) with beings from other race (usually of 'Knights' class) to reproduce. In exchange for the contract to help them reproduce, the Dragon lend its strength to their Riding Partner in battle. It is a taboo for anyone to ride on the back of a Dragon with whom they haven't contracted with, since it's seen as an act of defiling their chastity. And if someone does it and doesn't accept that Dragon as their partner later on, then the Dragon in question has to live a life in solitude, until the day the person who rode them dies. But those who have contracted with them are given a special protection, which protects the rider from all weather or temperature changes while flying in the sky, and also protects them from falling off their back. Sexually, True Dragon's are ambiguous and lead a gender-neutral life-style. But upon forming a Contract, their body undergoes sexual changes depending on the gender of their Contracted Knight. So, if a True Dragon contracted with a male Knight, their body would become more feminine, while if they contracted with a female Knight, their body would get masculine changes. The offspring born between a Dragon and its partner, could either be a Half-Dragon, or of the race same as the partner or a Dragon (only if the True Dragon is female). If the child born is a Dragon (which is born from an egg), then they are taken and brought up under the care of "Mother Dragon" in the 'Star Dragon Mountain Range'. The reason being that it's unknown when a Dragon would hatch from its egg, with some even taking hundreds of years to hatch. And because of this nature, it's hard for the parents to look after the egg themselves. If a partner of a Dragon dies before an offspring is born between them, then that Dragon lives in solitude for a long time. Such Dragons usually return to the 'Star Dragon Mountain Range' and work as Priestess under the "Mother Dragon" doing various work under her, like looking after young dragons or maintaining the 'Crystal Castle'. Some of these Dragon do end up getting married again later on, depending on situations and their fate.
- #44Three-eyed
Keys: Three-Eyed
A race of human-like beings with a 'third-eye' in the middle of their forehead. The 'third-eye' looks like a small red jewel, and has the special ability to see Microscopic organisms. Because of their ability to see micro-organisms and their understanding of pathogens and diseases causing organisms, the race has developed a nature of being 'neat-freaks' and have the habit of sterilizing anything they see. The existence of their 'third-eye' has also given the "Three-Eyed" race a better and greater deal of understanding towards disease and illness causing bacteria's which couldn't be healed with 'Light Magic'. This deep understanding had helped them to develop their own independent system of medical knowledge and practice, which in-turn allowed them create and synthesize various drugs and medicines, like antibiotics. Since none of the other races previously believed the existence of micro-organisms that the "Three-Eyed" race talked about, the other races started to reject and isolate them. This caused the people of the "Three-Eyed" race to become sort of xenophobic, mainly because their 'third-eye' could see the harm caused by dangerous micro-organisms and since they couldn't convince others to believe them and take precautions against them, they distanced themselves from them and started to hate making contact with others races, in order to avoid coming in contact with dangerous micro-organisms.
- #45Celestial
Keys: Celestial
This is a humanoid race that at a quick glance can be easily mistaken for a human. However, they do possess wings that sprout from their backs which can enable them to fly, though it is unclear if wing-size may effect this ability.
- #46Mermaid
Keys: Mermaid
A race of human-like beings that are generally associated with the Nine Headed Dragon Archipelago. At least with females, they possess a fin-like protrusion where the ear is and transparent, fin-like membranes on their arms.
- #47Mixed-Race
Keys: Sea-Serphents, Half-Elves, Mixed-Race, Dragonewts
Dragonewts: Long-lived race with two horns, wings and lizard-like tail. A mixed-race of half-Dragon born between a Dragon and another race. Sea-Serphents: Long-lived race, with tiny antlers, and reptilian tail, and excellent swimmers. Theorized to be a mixed-race of half-Ryuu born between a Ryuu and another race. Half-Elves: Long-lived race with pointed-ear. Born between an Elf and another race.
- #48Kobito
Keys: Kobito
A unique race of human-like beings, who reach full physical maturity at a very young age and stop aging after that. A fully mature person of this race looks around the age of a 12-year old human physically. Because of this characteristic, the race is also referred as the 'ever-young' race.
- #49Ryuu
Keys: Ryuu
A rare breed in the form of Oriental Dragon. Though wingless, they can still soar through the sky by swimming in the air currents rather than flying with wings. Generally can generate and control electricity. Also have the ability to sense the changes in weather and air current, and are excellent swimmers. Their humanoid forms have dear-like antlers and a black lizard-like tail. Half-Dragons that are born from them are theorized to be the 'Sea Serpents' race.
- #50Winged Dragon
Keys: Winged Dragon
General breed in the form of typical Western Dragon. They have the ability to breathe fire and fly at high speed. Their humanoid forms have horns on their head in various shapes, and a tail. Half-Dragons that are born from them belong to the 'Dragonewts' race.
