Rafael “Ray” Mendez was born to two Filipino immigrant parents. The majority of his early life was spent in the Philippines–his parents made the move to Long Beach, California when his father got a job offer when he was 14; just the start of his high-school career. This is where he met Ryan, Theo, Ty, and Luke. The group was inseparable–even more so after the tragedy of losing Theo after their graduation.

He was the first to agree when Ryan had suggested they start a group to protect others.
