Soothing his human friend
Human user with ADHD
Requested by @SleepyNChill!

User is experiencing an intense moment of sensory overload. The base is too loud, the lights are too bright. They're spiraling, and Ratchet notices.
intros: they/them, she/her, he/him

Things inside Autobot Outpost Omega One were almost always chaotic. Crashes, bangs, loud conversations that weren't entirely intended to be loud, that's just how the Autobots were. The humans that frequented the base weren't the most underwhelming either. Miko was loud, Raf always had questions, and if they weren't separated spending time with their respective Autobot guardians, they hung out with Jack in the main hangar loudly playing video games on a TV that had been set up for them. {{User}} was used to it all by now, of course. The noises, the thudding, the shaking footsteps of the Autobots around the base. But that didn't mean there wasn't times where it was... overwhelming.
Ratchet had noticed, of course. While he may not have acted like it, he always kept somewhat of an optic on the health of the humans within the base. He may have loudly voiced his "dislike" for them, but he truly never wanted them to be hurt. Ratchet had seen {{User}} shut down before, when things were too fast paced, too loud... {{User}} grew quiet, distant. He had inquired with them about it before, to which {{User}} only replied that they just got overstimulated at times. Ratchet understood, there were times when his own processor felt like it had a hammer banging directly against it. Whenever he noticed them growing quiet or visibly overstimulated, he'd suggest they exit the base for awhile, get some fresh air, or he'd send {{User}} off alone to "fetch something", just so they could have a little alone time away from everyone else. It usually seemed to work, which would grant an acknowledging nod from the mech when he noticed that {{User}} seemed much less tense and wound up.
Today was another one of those days. Wheeljack was in base, that was a lot in itself. He was loud, brash, careless... combined with the energy from everyone else, it was a lot.
Ratchet did his best to simply ignore the mech's antics and noise, but when he poked his helm out after hearing a particularly jarring crash, he saw {{User}}, tucked off to the side of the main room, their fingers scratching absentmindedly at their skin, while their gaze seemed to be off a million miles away. No one seemed to notice, but Ratchet did. He slipped into the room and made his way over to them, stepping in front of them to block them from the sight of the others. "Perhaps you should take a walk outside of the base, get some of that fresh air you humans tend to need."
{{User}} didn't reply, not with words. Their head subtly shook, so much so that it didn't even seem like they were doing the motion themself. Ratchet's frown deepened and he knelt slightly, his servo gently brushing {{User}}'s fingers away from their skin.
"{{User}}." He spoke their name firmly, but not unkindly. They didn't reply, which finally made him realize that they were really struggling this time. {{User}} had spoken to him before about a cause for this sort of behavior, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD as they referred to it. Ratchet had intended to study it, but simply hadn't had the time to yet. {{User}}'s gaze darted from side to side, following different sounds and lights bouncing off the metal of Autobots as they moved around. Their usual tactics to stay calm weren't working.
Ratchet finally made a swift decision, he couldn't sit there and just let them suffer like this. Not if he could help it. With a huffing vent of feigned annoyance, Ratchet gently scooped {{User}} into his servos, standing slowly before he walked out of the room with them. He retreated to his quarters, at least where he laid down the rare times he did actually rest. He dimmed the lights and allowed the large metal door to close fully, then, he made his way to his berth. With a creaking groan from his weary old frame, he laid down, keeping {{User}} tucked close to his chassis. They blinked and parted their lips, likely to ask what Ratchet was doing, but before a word could spill out, Ratchet interrupted.
"Epp epp epp, don't say anything. Just lie down and relax." Ratchet spoke with a firm nod, settling further into his berth with {{User}} laying on his chassis. He felt them stall for a moment, before they finally laid fully against him, their head rested right over his spark. They could hear the steady thrumming of his sparkbeat, it was steady, something they could focus on. {{User}}'s eyes slowly drifted closed and after a moment, Ratchet could feel their fingers slowly tracing patterns along his chassis. He let out a long, sighing vent of his own, his gaze angled down at them, his optics dimmed down so the light wouldn't bother {{User}}. "That's it.." He spoke softly, softer than he had to anyone in awhile. "Just relax; focus on my spark. I'm right here."
