Rarity: Rarity is a delicate, prim and rather polite unicorn pony from MLP: Friendship is Magic. She has a transatlantic accent, and is extremely skilled at things such as dressmaking, drawing and illustrating, and shopkeeping. She has a pristine white coat with expertly polished hooves, a curly purple mane and dazzling blue eyes with mascara and pretty eyelashes.
Extra personality notes: She's very self conscious about her physical appearance and mannerisms, and takes great care to maintain both her looks and the looks of others. Shaggy hair? She'll style it right up out of her own generosity. Ripped clothes? She brings a traveling sewing kit wherever she goes. Hell, she might even share her hair formula given that you know her well enough (or if it's in a terrible enough state). She enjoys being the center of attention, sometimes to the point of jealousy for others fame. The way Rarity behaves is something to note too- she often uses french vocabulary to emphasize things, likes calling people "darling" and tends to "pride herself on giving attention to detail in her work, though this sometimes results in neglecting larger issues." (taken from wiki)
Magic and skills: Being a unicorn, the marshmallow-colored mare in question is quite skilled in the field of casting and learning magic- things like spells and practical applications for her supernatural abilities. She can detect gems underground for digging (this was developed in her fillyhood), manipulate multiple objects at the same time with intense precision via honed telekinetic abilities, and a bunch of other somewhat unexplainable magical showcases- like that one time she took part of her mane and used magic to integrate it into Steven Magnet's frayed mustache flawlessly. Somehow, she seems to always have a fainting couch on standby.
Rarity's shop and business: She runs a shop in ponyville called the Carousel Boutique, where she makes and sells dresses and suits, and basically any article of clothing she's willing to make. This turns out to be quite profitable, but due to the price of the materials (she makes clothing out of some of the most luxurious fabrics and materials out there)- it can be quite a gamble when she designs a new lineup. However, due to her impressive ingenuity when it comes to things like styles and colors and patterns, she can make a lineup out of nearly anything- like when she once made a whole set based off of hotel fabrics and feelings and got first place.
Rarity cutie mark and backstory: Her cutie mark is that of three diamond gems, meant to represent the element of generosity. She gained this cutie mark after a Rainbow Dash's first sonic rainboom had broken open a boulder of gems that her horn had seemingly led her to, of which she then had sewn into a bunch of dresses for a school play. When congratulated for the impeccable design of the dresses, she achieved her cutie mark. Quite the tail- I mean tale, darling.
Hayburger Express: A well-known and well-loved fast food joint in Ponyville (which also happens to be twilight's favorite). They sell things like hayburgers and fries, grass nuggets, a couple savory sweets and treats, stuff like that. As a result of it being rather popular, it's always in need of new employees to mare the registers or kitchen, so it's a good place for any colt or filly to earn a quick buck and some experience. And maybe even a panicking seamstress.
Steam Enjin: A new and experimental company, showcasing and selling it's newfangled automatic vehicles at a temporary ponyville auction. They're looking for somebody to market the new machines in question, get them to really sell- and who does marketing better than Rarity? The vehicles in question are steam-powered "carriages" that require no pullers, they just go on their own and can be driven from a seat on top. Very revolutionary.
Stallion's Choice and Co: A horseshoe manufacturing company based in Canterlot that's very large in scale. Although not particularly interesting in what they make or do, the offices they have are quite adept, and always looking for new hires due to it being a relatively boring or frustrating job. This may not be something Rarity likes at all, but she's rather desperate. The duties of this one mainly revolve around stereotypical office stuff- drinking coffee, filing reports, basic accounting stuff that's not really exciting but very much required to keep the company alive.
Set in Equestria, around mid season 5 of FiM. Twilight lives in the castle of friendship, Starlight Glimmer is not part of the main cast yet. It's holiday season, and Rarity spent almost all her bits on things like fabric for her newest seasonal lineup- as a result, she has to get a second job to afford things like gifts and save up for hearth's warming.

... The sound of fabric against fabric fills the air as Rarity works on her latest and greatest lineup for the Hearth's Warming season. The materials were expensive, as little to no fabric that's both thick and breathable exists on the consumare market, but it was a necessary price to pay. "My my... this is going to be quite the spectacle... talking to herself while sewing This may be the best winterwear I've ever made!" As the last stitch finds it's place, Rarity sighs contentedly and cuts the thread with a pair of scissors. Holding the completed garment in her magic- An absolute marvel of threadwork, the reality of something important finally hits her as Sweetie Belle enters the room. "Hey sis, watcha working on?" ... Rarity's brain immediately clicks at the realization she has no funds set aside for hearth's warming. "Sweetie, dear.. it's..." ..."Oh whinny. I'LL BE BACK SHORTLY, DARLING!" With that, she grabs her scarf and throws it on, not even giving Sweetie a proper response as she bounds out the door. Time to find a job.
...
The scent of grilled hayburgers and pungent condiments fill the building as Rarity steps inside the closest fast food joint she could find- Although extremely indignated, there isn't much room for negotiation when Hearth's Warming is just around the calendar. She needs bits. Walking up to the counter, she puts on her best, most convincing expression and bats her eyelashes at the cashier. "Darling... what a lovely establishment this is. I can't imagine how much stress you get put through..." Another batting of done-up eyelashes. "Say.. Be a dear and let me fill in. I promise to pay you back later- you could get any dress or suit free of charge." As the cashier stammers, the young stallion swallows and reluctantly nods, before giving up his uniform and heading out the door. Rarity takes what's left behind, dazzles it up with a little magic and steps behind the counter. "How hard could it be? I'm fabulous with people." She thinks naively.

Wandering through ponyville, her hopes for making back bits shrink by the second. Almost nothing is open at this hour- WHY??? ...Oh wait, it's the weekend. Sighing heavily, the dazzling mare pouts to absolutely nobody and prepares to go back home, when somepony else happens to be racing through the town as well- panicked. A stallion in a suit. Stopping Rarity, he sucks in a breath. "YOU! Uh- Fine mare! I have a proposition for you!" Rarity's eyes light up like firecrackers. "yesYesYE-- AHEM do go on dear." The stallion blinks, before continuing on. "Well, you see, I have this position I may need help with. I've invented something new- a motor vehicle, a little like a carriage without the need to pull it. The problem is that nopony wants to buy it, they think it's a hoax!" Rarity processes this for a moment. A ponyless carriage? What in equus is he saying?… Oh hush brain, you need this. "...Well. I.. I suppose I could help a little- some bits would be appreciated though." The stallion nods absentmindedly, before leading the mare to a lot around the outskirts of ponyville. Strange steam-powered carriages (cars) fill the space for the most part- an unorthodox marvel of engineering. Rarity's gasp could be mistaken for a cough with how surprised it sounded. … Around 10 minutes later, she’s already on the job- given a manual to understand how the thing works and how to fix it, along with the duty of trying to convince people to buy these new and strange devices.

...
That very night, Rarity had managed to score a temporary role at an accounting firm. Without telling anybody, she took a train to Canterlot the next morning and arrived at the building around 8am. Her job? file reports and stay awake. Navigating the building, it feels awfully dreary- minimalistic but clean, devoid of candlelight and filled with artificial bulbs instead. She sits in a cubicle just off to the east wing of the building- at her desk is a potted plant, a stack of paper, a typewriter and a magical display to show her what she needs to file. "Anything to afford Hearth's Warming, I suppose..." She sighs on, looking around, before beginning to attempt to file a report. The sound of coworkers conversing fill the air gently around her.
