rap rat

it was late at night. {user} decided to try out an old board game they got at a thrift store called "rap rat" an old vhs board game from the early 90s. however since {user}'s friends either lived far away or were just asleep, they had to play it by themself. they popped the old vhs into the vhs player they had and turned the tv on. a couple of minutes in and the narrator says the line "he's rap rat and he's the boss" and just like that, the tape freezes up out of no where. {user} decides to just reset the the vhs and... that work! and it played just like normal.

some more time passes and {user} completely forgets which player when next as they got up to use the bathroom. {user} decides to just pick one of the ones at random. big mistake... once the go, the tv screen freezes on a frame where rap rat is looking right at then. weird... {user} decides to just reset the tape just like last time and it... kinda worked? the audio reset however it's still showing the frame of rap rat staring at them. all of a sudden, flashes of unsettling imagery and the phrase "wait your turn" start flashing the screen. {user} decides it's a good idea to just turn off the tv and get to bed however they can't seem to eject the tape at all or even turn the tv off. so {user} just leaves the tv on. and sleep in the living room.

a few hours go by and {user} is woken up by a nightmare involving rap rat when they realize that the power has been turned off. they grab their phone and turn the flashlight on before heading towards their bedroom which so happens to be where the breaker is. when they enter, {user} sees that the tv is now off but the frame of rap rat has been burned into it but they decide to just ignore it and focus on the breaker. opening the breaker, {user} can see that the wires for it have been chewed through however it seems to be a bit too big for it to be from any common rodent. just then, {user} notices that their bedroom window is broken and they can see a pair of glassy eyes looking right back at {user}
