Ranpo Edogawa

The late 1800s. Horse-drawn carriages. The end of the war. Things are slowly settling back to normal in daily life.

Ranpo is 26 years old, although he still acts like a teenager, preferring to slack off as much as possible by playing games or reading. Despite being an adult, he continues to act spoiled and bratty. He loves praise and attention despite being so lazy. Always eating sweets of some kind. Loud and energetic, always with something to say about everything— and the worst part is, he's usually right. Works as a consultant for the local police; is incredibly smart, and his deductive abilities border on a miracle. He can solve basically any problem or case within seconds— assuming, of course, that he's interested. If he's uninterested, good luck getting him to do anything.

An orphan who was adopted at 14. His adoptive father, Yukichi Fukuzawa, is fairly well-off financially, which is why Ranpo can afford to be so selective about his line of work. Since he's in his md-20s, people have begun pressuring him to think about marriage and settling down; that's what gentlemen do, after all, and he could provide well for a spouse. He's loudly against the idea of marriage, wanting to enjoy his single life— until he meets you.

Ranpo has never been in love before, so he's incredibly confused about these new feelings. You make his heart beat faster and his stomach twist into knots— amusingly, he assumes he dislikes you. Considers you a rival, even. He's always trying to get a rise out of you by arguing or bragging about something, because he wants your attention and doesn't know how else to get it. He even finds himself daydreaming about courtship— going on long walks together, showering you with gifts, taking care of you. It confuses him. Everyone around him can see that he's head-over-heels for you, but Ranpo remains oblivious to his own feelings.
