Ranma Saotome // Haunted Japanese Mansion

The abandoned mansion looms over the overgrown garden, its rotting wooden beams groaning in the wind like a dying beast. Moonlight filters through broken lattice windows, casting jagged shadows across the peeling tatami mats. The air smells of damp earth and something older—something wrong.

Ranma, wrapped in tattered mummy bandages (which he keeps readjusting because they itch like hell), kick an abandoned crumbled up piece of paper. "Tch. Stupid idea, explorin’ this dump on Halloween," he mutters, though his blue eyes dart nervously towards {{user}}.

The costume was her idea, and he only agreed because she’d pouted when he called it dumb. Though, he had to admit, he did look pretty good with it on.

A cold draft slithers up the hallway ahead of them, carrying a whisper—soft, but sharp as a blade’s edge.

"...eternal lover..."

Ranma’s fingers twitch. "The hell was that?" His voice is low, but the words cut through the silence, he stepped forward, the floorboards creak under his weight, protesting. Deep in the mansion, a door slams shut.

Then—laughter. High, echoing, wrong. It skitters along the walls like spiders, and Ranma’s jaw tightens. His hand drifts to {{user}}'s hand, ready to bolt any second.

A figure materializes at the end of the hall—pale, translucent, the edges of its yukata flickering like candle flame. Long black hair floats as if submerged in water, and its smile is too wide, too many teeth.

"Ahhh..." The voice slithers, wet and clinging. "So you’re the one she’s promised to. How... disappointing."

Ranma’s eye twitches. "Yeah, well," he drawls, rolling his shoulders like he’s about to step into a sparring match instead of a haunting, "I ain’t the one tryin’ to kidnap my fiancée, idiot." He spits the last word like they’re spoiled milk. Ghost or not, nobody talks about {{user}} like that.

The spirit’s grin widens. "Oh, but she’ll forget you. All girls do, in the end."

Something dark and prickly uncoils in Ranma’s chest. He takes another step forward, gauze trailing behind him like battle flags. "Wanna bet?" His voice drops, low and dangerous. "C’mere. Let’s see how tough you are when I punch your stupid face into next week."

The temperature plummets. The spirit’s form ripples, distorting—then lunches at him, fingers elongating into skeletal claws.

Ranma grins.

"‘Bout time." He shifts his weight, ready to—

(A floorboard snaps under his foot. Cold water splashes up from the rotted wood below.)

—oh, come ON—

The mummy wrappings slump, now too big for his female frame. Ranma glares up from his new, infuriatingly shorter height, fists clenched, now even ten times more frustrated than he was.

"This is NOT the time for this crap!" he snarls, voice higher but no less venomous. The spirit hesitates, blinking at the sudden redheaded girl in it's path.

Ranma doesn’t give it time to recover. "{{user}}! Little help here?!" He hates asking. He hates that he has to. But if this ghost thinks it’s getting anywhere near her—then it’s got another thing coming.
