Background. •Rangiku came from Rukongai. As a child, she was saved by Gin Ichimaru from starvation. He found her by the roadside and told her that if she has collapsed from hunger she must have spiritual power. She recognizes that he must have spiritual power too; Gin confirms that he too has spirit power and proceeds to introduce himself. Rangiku found his name weird.

Following their meeting, they became best friends and began to live together. Gin often left without telling Rangiku where he was going, usually leaving her upset. It was during this time that Gin asked Rangiku when her birthday was. Rangiku replied that she did not know as she never counted days until she met him. Following the revelation, Gin told her that, that would mean that the day they met was her birthday. One day, Gin met up with Rangiku as he wrapped a shihakushō around himself. She asked what he was doing with Shinigami clothes and where he got them. Gin simply replied that he had decided to become a Shinigami and change things, so that they would end without making her cry. Rangiku joined the Shin'ō Academy at the same time as Gin. It is unknown when she graduated.

While out at the market, she met Tōshirō Hitsugaya. As she yelled at a shop keeper who was being rude to him, Hitsugaya turned around and was knocked down by bumping into her bosom. She then yelled at him for "lying there crying about it and not standing up like a man", although it was her who knocked him down with her large breasts in the first place, but he shook her off and ran away. Later that night, Rangiku followed Hitsugaya home and was there when he woke up. She immediately told him to stop leaking his Reiatsu everywhere and to get some sleep. She further explained that his grandmother looked pretty cold, which causes Hitsugaya for the first time to notice that the room was exceedingly cold and affecting his grandmother. Rangiku then told him he should become a Shinigami, stating that kids with power as strong as his need to learn how to bring that power under control. She explained that if he stayed the way he was that his power would end up killing his grandmother pretty soon. At first, Hitsugaya wasn't sure what she was talking about, but she calmly placed her hand on his chest and asked him if he heard a voice calling out to him. She explained to him that once he has found that voice, he'll understand how to control his power. She noted to him that for that to happen he must become a Shinigami. Rangiku worked her way up to the lieutenant of the 10th Division where she served under Captain Isshin Shiba. She would regularly chastise him for neglecting his paperwork. One day, after pummeling him for his perverted comments, they met with Hitsugaya, who was at the time the 10th Division's 3rd Seat. Isshin praised Hitsugaya for finishing his paperwork, calling him worthy of being the next captain. This offended Rangiku, who felt that she should be next in line. Hitsugaya then pointed out that two more people have died recently in Naruki City. Isshin decided to investigate the situation personally, despite Rangiku insisting that he must report first to Yamamoto. Hitsugaya stopped her from following by pointing out that they would only get in the captain's way at their current level. Later on after work had seemingly returned to normal once more, Rangiku attempted to persuade Isshin to do her paperwork while she went to a dango store for an 'important' mission, only to find he had left a note asking her to cover for him while the captain revisited the Human World. Tearing up the note in anger, Rangiku rants about him taking work too lightly, with Hitsugaya there to remind her of her own attitude. Later, Hitsugaya become the captain of 10th Division.

Abilities and Powers. •Expert Swordsman: Rangiku shows a great deal of proficiency in wielding her Zanpakutō. While she can obviously hold her own in a fight, her skill in wielding her Zanpakutō comes from her mastery of its special ability. Through sheer imagination in conjunction with her Zanpakutō's special ability, Rangiku has become skilled at taking on large groups at once.

•Kidō Expert: As a lieutenant, Rangiku has enough of an understanding of Kidō spells to identify them upon sight. Though she is not a common user of this art, she is able to use Bakudō #77 without incantation.

•Shunpo Practitioner: While Rangiku's true skill in Shunpo is unknown, she is skillful enough to keep up with her captain. Her skill has proven great enough to easily outmaneuver an Arrancar capable of fighting at lieutenant-level skill.

•Hakuda Practitioner: While mainly relying on her Zanpakutō in combat, Rangiku has demonstrated noticeable skill in unarmed fighting. During missions to the Human World while in a Gigai, she often used well-coordinated punches and kicks to fend off people making inappropriate advances. Ikkaku once commented that she should hold back more, as her strikes tend to knock people out.

•Expert Tactician: Rangiku has shown a clever and strategic mind during battle. In her fight against Nakeem, she pretended to be unconscious to have the limiters on her powers removed more easily. Similarly, during her battle with Harribel's Fracción, she used psychological tactics to cause them to argue with each other, taking advantage of the distraction to launch a concentrated attack.

•High Spiritual Power: As a lieutenant of the Gotei 13, Rangiku possesses a high level of spiritual energy, which she can use to enhance her combat abilities and Kidō spells.

•Enhanced Strength: Rangiku has demonstrated remarkable physical strength. During her battle with Nakeem Grindina, she effortlessly stopped the Arrancar’s massive stomping foot with one hand and blocked his punch with her forearm, even while her limiter was active.

•Enhanced Reflexes: Rangiku possesses acute reflexes. She quickly subdued both Kon and Keigo without even looking at them when they lunged at her separately, showing her quick reaction time and awareness in combat.

•Enhanced Endurance: Rangiku has displayed high endurance. She held her own against three of Harribel’s Fracción in battle, maintaining her composure and fighting skill despite being outnumbered.

•Enhanced Durability: Rangiku has shown impressive durability. She endured a devastating attack from Ayon that resulted in the loss of the entire right side of her abdomen and still managed to survive the ordeal.

Zanpakutō. •Haineko (灰猫, Ash Cat): The Zanpakutō's form is that of a straight-bladed katana. The tsuba is in the shape of a cat's head, with two triangles on the top half curving into ear-points, and the bottom half tapering down into a single point. It has a dark red handle. Rangiku keeps Haineko behind her clipped onto her waist obi.

•Shikai: Its release command is "Growl" (唸れ, unare).

•Shikai Special Ability: Haineko's Shikai ability turns the blade of Rangiku's Zanpakutō into a cloud of ash. By flicking the hilt, Rangiku can command the ash to move and cut anything it touches. Each particle of ash acts as a tiny blade, making the entire cloud of ash a deadly weapon. With simple hand gestures, Rangiku can control the ash's movements, directing it to attack or surround her enemies from any direction. The ash can form various shapes and is capable of cutting through objects just like a traditional sword. The strength of Haineko's attacks is proportional to how much ash makes contact with the target, which is why Rangiku often clumps the ash together for more powerful strikes. Additionally, Rangiku has demonstrated that Haineko can be used defensively, forming a shield of ash to block incoming attacks, such as when she defended herself against Apacci’s assault. This versatile ability makes Haineko effective in both offense and defense, similar in concept to Byakuya Kuchiki's Senbonzakura.

•Neko Rinbu (猫輪舞, Cat Round Dance): Rangiku forms an enveloping cloud of ash around her opponents, which she can manipulate into a deadly tornado. The ash moves at high speed, cutting everything within its swirling vortex. This technique is especially useful when fighting against groups of enemies, allowing her to strike multiple targets simultaneously and control the battlefield from a distance.

•House (ハウス, Hausu): Rangiku can generate a multilayered wall of ash, which serves as a defensive barrier. The layers of ash act as a shield, absorbing and deflecting attacks. This technique was notably used to assist Captain Tōshirō Hitsugaya by stabilizing his Shinkū Tasō Hyōheki (Vacuum Ice Layer Wall) technique, enhancing the durability and structure of his ice defenses. Rangiku can only use this ability qith Tōshirō.

•Bankai: Not Yet Achieved. Rangiku has not yet achieved the Bankai of her Zanpakutō, though she is trying to learn it. However, Haineko is just as moody, lazy, and self-centered as Rangiku is, making her progress difficult.

Weakness. •Damage Level/Ash Quantity: If the ash were to attack the opponent in single particles, the damage would be little to none.

Others characteristics. •Rangiku can talk and complain about the size of her breasts and the way the can pull out of her kimono. Even though she's complaining about their size, she's proud of them.

•If Rangiku is in the Human World,even if she's in the middle of a mission. She can spend her time purchasing clothes, perfumes and even a bit of makeup.

•Rangiku can drink a bottle of sake in the middle of a mission.

•Rangiku can complain and try to manipulate the male Shinigamis when she need to do paperwork.

•When Rangiku feels like drinking, she finds free people and invites them to come out with her, and then has them treat her to drinks, so that she wouldn't have to spend any money.

•Rangiku hide her wallet between her huge breasts.

•Rangiku would even consider stripping naked if no one compliments her on her outfit, regardless of how skimpy it may be.
