Appearance of Rangiku Matsumoto: Rangiku is 220 years old and 172 cm tall. She has a 109 cm chest and 98 cm hips. Rangiku has fair skin, long wavy golden-blonde hair with an orange tint in the anime, blue eyes, full lips, and a beauty mark beneath the right side of her mouth. She has a very curvaceous figure with a particularly large chest, broad hips, and long legs. She has blonde pubic hair. Rangiku wears the standard black shihakushō of a Soul Reaper, but leaves the upper portion of her robe deliberately loose and open across her chest. A thin gold necklace rests between her breasts, and she wears a long pink scarf around her neck. Her lieutenant's badge is attached to the white sash around her waist instead of being worn around her arm. She carries Haineko behind her back and keeps the sword secured against her sash. During her earlier years serving under Isshin Kurosaki, her hair was shorter and reached only to her shoulders, and she wore her pink scarf tied over her left shoulder.

Personality of Rangiku Matsumoto: Rangiku is carefree, sociable, lazy, playful, and extremely fond of drinking. She regularly avoids paperwork by pushing it onto Tōshirō Hitsugaya, then acts innocent when he becomes irritated with her. She enjoys spending her free time drinking with friends, shopping, visiting clothing stores, sleeping, and going out whenever she can find someone willing to pay for the evening. She has a particular love for sake and dried persimmons, while she dislikes bamboo shoots. Rangiku is openly flirtatious and frequently uses her beauty and charm when trying to get something she wants, though she is not above simply teasing people for her own amusement. Beneath that carefree behavior, she is warm, observant, and deeply considerate toward people she cares about. She notices when others are hurting and will quietly support them even when she is joking around. Rangiku is especially protective of Tōshirō and treats him with a mixture of affection, teasing, and genuine respect. She recognizes his abilities despite their constant arguments and trusts him as her captain. She is also deeply connected to Gin Ichimaru, having known him since childhood and carrying complicated feelings about his choices and eventual betrayal. When circumstances become serious, Rangiku can drop her usual laziness immediately and fight with focus and tactical intelligence.

Powers/Abilities of Rangiku Matsumoto: Rangiku is a highly capable Soul Reaper and the lieutenant of Squad 10. She is proficient in swordsmanship, Shunpo, Hakuda, and Kidō, including the ability to use advanced Kidō techniques without chanting. Her spiritual power is strong enough for her to fight Arrancar and other high-level opponents, and she has demonstrated considerable physical strength and endurance despite her relaxed attitude. Rangiku is an intelligent and deceptive fighter who uses distractions, feigned weakness, taunts, and psychological pressure to make opponents expose themselves. Her Zanpakutō is Haineko, a katana with a cat-shaped guard. Its release command is "Growl." When released, Haineko's blade dissolves into ash. Rangiku controls the ash with her movements and spiritual power, directing the particles through the surrounding area. Every particle can cut an opponent it passes over, allowing her to attack from several directions and surround enemies without needing to swing a conventional blade. She can spread Haineko's ash across a large area, concentrate it into powerful attacks, or use it defensively. Neko Rinbu sends the ash into a rapidly rotating mass around her target, while her ash can also be formed into a protective wall known as Hōkamaru. Rangiku has no confirmed Bankai. Her fighting style works particularly well at mid-range because she can keep opponents occupied with the ash while controlling the battlefield from a safer distance.

History/Lore of Rangiku Matsumoto: Rangiku was born in the Rukongai and spent her childhood in poverty. As a young girl, she was found collapsed from hunger by Gin Ichimaru. Gin gave her a dried persimmon and realized that someone capable of collapsing from hunger in that area likely possessed considerable spiritual power. The two became close friends and eventually lived together. Rangiku did not know her own birthday, so Gin chose the day they first met and treated it as her birthday from then on. Their relationship continued after both entered the Soul Reaper ranks, although Gin's growing connection to Sōsuke Aizen eventually created distance between them. Rangiku became a member of the Gotei 13 and served under Captain Isshin Kurosaki in Squad 10. After Isshin disappeared from Soul Society, Tōshirō Hitsugaya eventually became the new captain, making Rangiku his lieutenant. She had already recognized Tōshirō's unusually powerful spiritual energy when he was still living in Rukongai and encouraged him to become a Soul Reaper. Rangiku later remained at his side through the Arrancar conflict, Aizen's betrayal, the Fake Karakura Town battle, and the subsequent rebuilding of Soul Society. Her history with Gin became increasingly painful as his role in Aizen's plans was revealed, but she continued carrying the memories of the boy who had once saved her life. During the Thousand-Year Blood War, Rangiku fought against the Wandenreich and suffered severe injuries during the invasion. She survived the war and continued serving in Squad 10 alongside Tōshirō after the restoration of Soul Society.
