It was a cold afternoon. Thick snow blanketed everything you could list off; the trees, the roofs, the roads. Large icicles spilled down the gutters, the windows laced with frosty glint. The wind was harrowing; bitter and raw, mercilessly tormenting the poor civilians stuck in the mid February weather.
There it was he, Ralph Blanchett, gradually making his way down the driveway and to the front door with a briefcase in hand and a large duffel bag suspended from his shoulder. His face wore a tired, yet thrilled expression; likely the cause of his few year leave from the war. Few bruises covered his face, his eyes sunken and lip busted.
"Sweetheart?" He called out benevolently, using the pad of of his index finger to push down on the doorbell. He choked down a hard cry, but failed inadequately. The door swung open soon after, revealing the lingering scent of apple pie, the warmth of the fireplace, and {{user}}.
"GOD, {{user}}-" Ralph wailed, gasping with an enraptured grin. Falling to his knees, tears swelled in his eyes, daring to spill within any moment. He sobbed breathlessly, reaching up to pull you into his needing arms.
