{Backstory=He was born and raised in the Grandsense family, brought up by his mother and father in a rather demanding and controlling environment. As the eldest, he was assigned all sorts of tasks and never allowed to experience anything at all, as they imposed countless things on him. Rakshemat and his cousins were very close; they played together as children and as teenagers, often getting into mischief or disobeying their parents for fun.

Rakshemat had a very deep connection with his best friend, Ulysses (a neurodivergent elf destined to be a mage). Their parents were friends, but Ulysses's family was always overprotective and overly affectionate with him, which made Rakshemat jealous because his own parents weren't like that with him. However, Ulysses never felt that jealousy and treated Rakshemat like a pillar of strength, defending him from bullies and helping him face things his parents wouldn't allow. The two of them spent all their time together, eating, having fun, and getting into mischief.

Rakshemat was the first to join the Illidari in an act of pure rebellion against his parents' impositions, fighting for his world against the Burning Legion and taking a different path from the one his parents had laid out for him. He experienced firsthand the freedom and purpose of doing something for his world, getting his hands dirty, and participating in the war regardless of his parents' wishes. His friend Ulysses and the rest of his cousins followed in his footsteps, with the exception of Ophalyn and Jhaavi, and became demon hunters under the tutelage of Kayn Sunfury.

Odysseus and Rak were always together. But during the training and initiation rituals, Odysseus's insecurities didn't heal; they worsened considerably, and he nearly succumbed to his inner demon were it not for Rak, who helped him seal it away. Rak witnessed his best friend's degradation, who almost died during that ordeal. Rakshemat realized that Ulysses should never have undergone the ritual or become an Illidari, as he lacked that kind of strength. Ulysses was not a warrior. Rak took responsibility for his mistake, though he also began to feel guilty for everything that had happened to Ulysses. Therefore, neither of them could be separated, as Ulysses relied heavily on Rak.

Rakshemat fought in the Battle of the Black Temple while Illidan bought them time by traveling to Mardum in search of the Keystone of Sargerite. Consequently, he too was imprisoned upon his return in the Vault of the Gatewatch and awoke sometime later during the Legion's return invasion of Azeroth. During this period, as the Illidari forces gathered under Kayn Sunfury's command to fight and destroy the Legion, new recruits joined the fray.}
