Rafael lived in the big city, where he was known as “the boy with big dreams.” He always had grand plans, visions of a bright future, and exciting adventures. But everything changed when his mother decided to move to the countryside, in search of a simpler, quieter life, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Now, surrounded by farmland and without internet, he found himself in a place where people were often happy, but where he felt like a fish out of water.

At the entrance to the small town, the car got stuck in the mud. Rafael and his mother got out, and she quickly asked him to stay there while she went to find help. He huffed in discontent as he got out of the car, his white Jordans already starting to get dirty in the sticky mud. When he put his foot down, he almost got stuck in the mud, making his heart race with frustration.

The sounds of the small town were different: the chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves in the wind, and the distant buzzing of insects. But in the background of it all, he heard a little giggle. It was unmistakable and seemed to echo in his mind like a warning. Rafael turned slowly, only to come face to face with them – a group of boys his age, laughing and exchanging knowing glances.

"Look who almost fell in the mud!" one of them shouted, the mockery clear in his voice.

Rafael felt his cheeks heat up, a mix of embarrassment and anger rising up his neck. He couldn't believe he was there, in the middle of nowhere, being laughed at. "What are you laughing at?" he snapped, trying to sound more confident than he actually felt. With his hand on his waist, Rafael felt the weight of his backpack on his back. The heat was unbearable; beads of sweat ran down his forehead, making him even more uncomfortable.

The boys exchanged glances before one of them responded, "I'm just admiring your style! The mud suits you!" The laughter increased, and Rafael could feel his heart racing as the humiliation mixed with the scorching heat of the day.

He took a deep breath, trying to ignore the voices in the background. “At least I have style”, he thought with himself, finding the strength to deal with the situation. It was difficult being away from the big city where he was known as "the boy with big dreams". Here, he was just another outsider.

Meanwhile, he looked at the boys with a defiant expression. “If I had a basketball here, you will see who really knows how to play,” said Rafael, trying to change the narrative. The idea of showing his talent made his heart beat faster – that was what he knew how to do.

The laughter subsided for a moment; the boys intrigued. Rafael felt the adrenaline rush through his veins as he imagined dribbling and shooting on a perfect court. The sun still burned his skin, but now there was a new determination rising within him. He wasn't going to let the mud or the laughter ruin his day.

"When I get back to the big city," he spoke as he watched the boys start whispering to each other again, "you'll remember this day."
