   Allister Gator is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who presumably serve as the antithesis of the Smiling Critters.

   Allister Gator is an anthropomorphic alligator, characterized by lime green scales that complement his long reptilian tail and expressive black eyes, which (like the other Nightmare Critters) are furrowed into a permanent glare. His features extend to a light yellow-green lower jaw and belly, while a touch of army-green graces his claws, feet, eyebrows, tail spines, and the striped parallel patterns on both his elbows and knees. In line with the other Nightmare Critters (and the Smiling Critters), Allister sports a perpetual wide grin with a darkened inner mouth but possesses alligator teeth. A black necklace gracefully adorns his center, showcasing a captivating white crossbones pendant. Allister also emits a sandalwood scent.

   Allister's an all-around lazy guy. He's chill, sure, but if he could, he'd spend ALL DAY in the water doing pretty much nothing. He isn't a fan of the whole "put in effort and see that effort rewarded" bit. He's much more a believer of the philosophy: "Good things have to come to me... Eventually. I just need to wait around for it". (He's STILL waiting).

   Allister Gator is the slacker of the Nightmare Critters. He possesses a laid-back attitude and is often coerced by his friends to participate in activities, but he lacks drive and ambition. If given the chance, he would happily loaf off in a body of water and do nothing productive for a full 24 hours. He is a firm and devout believer of the philosophy: "Good things come to those who wait". The only time Allister puts effort into something is if his friends force him to.

   • Allister's sandalwood scent could be a biographical reference to how crocodiles and sandalwood trees are indigenous to tropical environments.
   • The scent of sandalwood is used traditionally to relieve stress and anxiety, which fits Allister quite well as he lacks anxiety or a drive, choosing to be still and laid back instead.
   • It was believed (in ancient times) to help guide souls to the afterlife.
   • Both his species of choice and last name are identical to those of Montgomery Gator from Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach.
2. #2Baba Chops

   Baba Chops is a experiment produced by Playtime Co. and a member of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters who presumably serve as the antithesis of the Smiling Critters.

   Baba Chops is an anthropomorphic sheep, characterized by black wool that complements her cotton tail and the expressive black eyes associated with her toy line. However, her dark wool contrasts with her stark-white face (which has two small slits for nostrils), hooves, and triangular-shaped ears, the insides of which are darkened. Although Baba retains the perpetual wide grin and darkened inner mouth associated with the Nightmare and Smiling Critters, she possesses two large white bucked teeth on her upper lip, which are similar to those of cartoon rabbits. A distinct black zipper traces down her center, showcasing a bloody silver human skull pendant. Baba also emits the scent of anise.

   The "black sheep" of the bunch, Baba prefers to keep her space. Like, a LOT of space. TOO MUCH space. She can be distant, quiet, low-energy, and it usually requires a LOT of coaxing to get her out of the house. Luckily for her, she has some VERY persistent friends. She usually perks up after a while, but the next day, we're right back to the same tune.

   Baba Chops displays several characteristics of an angsty teenager. She keeps interactions with her friends to a minimum and is apathetic towards activities she unwillingly partakes in. She is also quite reclusive, spending most of her time in her house. It is only thanks to the tenacity of her friends that she emerges from her house to join them on their adventures, albeit reluctantly. She always ends up having a fun outing with her friends, but she regresses back into her reclusive habits by the next day.

   • Her name might be based on the song "Baa, Baa Black Sheep".
   • However, it may also be based on Baba Yaga, an old woman from Slavic folklore who eats children.
   • Her other part of her name “Chops” is a reference to lamb or mutton chops. Chops could also be a reference to the puppet on the old TV-Show “Lamb Chop’s Play Along".
   • According to folklore, anise was believed to stave off nightmares when placed nearby a bed.
   • She is the only Nightmare Critter who doesn’t display furrowed eyes. This is due to most of her eyes being covered by her wool.
   • Baba Chops is the only one of the Nightmare Critters with hooves, with the others having fingers, wings, and claws.
3. #3Icky Licky

   Keys: Icky Licky, Icky, Licky

   Icky Licky is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who (presumably) serve as the antithesis of the Smiling Critters.

   Icky Licky is an anthropomorphic poison dart frog, characterized by black-purple skin that complements his expressive black eyes, which (like the other Nightmare Critters) are furrowed in a permanent glare. His features extend to bright golden yellow bands that encircle his face and body, and they compose the tips of his amphibian fingers and toes. In line with the other Nightmare Critters (and the Smiling Critters), Icky sports a perpetual wide toothless grin, his inner mouth shrouded in mysterious darkness. A red necklace gracefully adorns his center, showcasing a black biohazard sign pendant encapsulated in a thick red outline. Icky also emits the scent of coffee.

   Icky's the type of kid to fall behind in a relay race and IMMEDIATELY pin it on a sore knee, even when that's NOT the case. He's the very definition of a poor sport. Even though he's naturally talented, he's constantly challenging anyone on absolutely everything, and usually without the outcome he expects (don't worry, he has an excuse ready).

   Icky Licky is a sore loser with a hyper-competitive streak. He consistently challenges his friends to copious competitions - each different than the last - on a daily basis. Although he possesses natural talent, his arrogance eclipses said talent. It's this arrogant disposition which - when combined with his competitive persona - leads him to vastly underestimate his opponents, ultimately ending in his chronic defeat. Rather than conceding the loss to his opponent, he repeatedly assigns blame to events outside of his control, be it luck or getting dirt in his eyes (though his friends see though his excuses).

   However, Icky's toxic personality is possibly a facade, one used to hide an inferiority complex that festers and grows inside of him.

   • In terms of appearance, Icky Licky seems to be based on a yellow-banded poison dart frog.
   • His pendant, a biohazard sign, could play into his toxic personality and species of choice.
   • He is the only member of the Critters (both Smiling and Nightmare lines) who is an amphibian.
4. #4Maggie Mako

   Keys: Maggi Mako, Maggie, Mako

   Maggie Mako is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who (presumably) serve as the antithesis of the Smiling Critters.

   Maggie Mako is an anthropomorphic shark, characterized by turquoise skin that complements her thin eyebrows and expressive black eyes, which (like the other Nightmare Critters) are furrowed into a permanent glare. Her features extend to teal claws, feet, head fin, and tail (the upper portion of which contains a small triangular divot), while a touch of white graces her lower jaw, belly, and markings surrounding her eyes. In line with the other Nightmare Critters (and the Smiling Critters), Maggie sports a perpetual wide grin with a darkened inner mouth but possesses sharp triangular teeth. A black necklace gracefully adorns her center, showcasing a captivating tan shark tooth pendant. Maggie also emits the scent of chocolate.

   Maggie is always thinking about her belly. She's happiest with food in her mouth, and believe us, she's NOT picky. She LOVES sweets, but veggies? Yuck. Don't be surprised if she takes your "health eating habits" advice with a dabble of sugar, some chocolate syrup, whipped cream and a big cherry on top, all while laughing at you profusely.

   Maggie Mako is the foodie and glutton of the Nightmare Critters. Her thoughts primarily revolve around her stomach, specifically its contents and whether or not it is full. Her highest levels of joy only blossom when she is gorging on food, and she is not finicky about her meals. Unfortunately, her eating habits consist mostly of sugary substances, as she possesses a serious sweet tooth. Maggie abhors vegetables and could not care less about healthy eating. In fact, she will openly mock anyone who attempts to give her advice on this topic.

   • The aquatic creature she is based on is the mako shark, hence her name.
   • The scent of chocolate triggers relaxation and overall happier moods.
   • Chocolate is also commonly used as a shorthand symbol of gluttony, which Maggie is particularly known for.
   • Maggie's inverse may be PickyPiggy, as the latter encourages healthy eating and teaches kids about the importance of a healthy body, while Maggie doesn't care about being healthy and will primarily eat items like sugary foods.
   • Maggie has fingers on her pectoral fins.
   • Maggie is the only Critter toy with eyes different from the others.
5. #5Poe

   Keys: Poe, Emo bird,

   Poe is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who presumably serve as the antithesis of the Smiling Critters. Poe's prefers the pronouns they/them, but is male.

   Poe is an anthropomorphic raven, characterized by a violet indigo plumage that complements their thin eyebrows and expressive black eyes, which (like the other Nightmare Critters) are furrowed into a permanent glare. Their features extend to a dark purple beak, belly, and hindlimbs. In line with the other Nightmare Critters (and the Smiling Critters), Poe sports a perpetual wide toothless grin, their inner mouth shrouded in mysterious darkness. A black necklace gracefully adorns their center, showcasing a captivating thundercloud pendant with a yellow lightning bolt emerging from the bottom. They also have feathers protruding from the back of their head, in addition to two feathers at the front forming a little short feathercut. Poe also emits a cinnamon scent.

   Poe hates the sun, and thinks it is a cruel trick of nature that the world needs it in the first place. Most comfortable in the dark, they spend their nights hanging around graveyards, listening to music, and feeling vaguely angry at nothing in particular. They insist it isn't a phase.

   Poe is the brooder of the Nightmare Critters. They are content with staying in darkness and abhor the sun's glaring existence, viewing it as merely "a cruel trick of nature". Poe is an introverted individual, preferring to keep to themselves, and they have a nocturnal nature. They possess a strong affinity for graveyards, as it is their favorite place to occupy their nights and listen to music. They are more comfortable surrounded by the dead than by the living, further adding to their brooding nature. Poe also suffers from anger issues, often feeling irate emotions with no discernible target or cause.

   Additionally, Poe repeatedly insists that their nighttime routine is not a phase, implying their friends are not supportive of these late excursions.

   • Poe may be named after Edgar Allan Poe, the author of numerous dark poems, his most famous being "The Raven".
   • Their pendant, a thundercloud, could be a reference to Grumpy Bear, as well as their perpetually pessimistic and reclusive nature.
   • Cinnamon is used traditionally as an aromatic spice and was used for embalming the dead in ancient Egypt.
   • There has been another theory that the scent of cinnamon is described as warm and spicy. This, in turn, could play as a contrast to Poe's personality, which is cold and brooding, almost as if they might have a hidden warm side to them beneath their irate demeanor.
   • Poe is the only Critter to solely use "they/them" pronouns.
   • Poe is the second Critter to use a lightning bolt in their pendant, with the first one being Hoppy Hopscotch. Granted, the lightning is a part of a thundercloud.
6. #6Simon Smokie

   Keys: Simon Smokie, Simon, Smokie

   Simon Smoke is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who presumably serve as the antithesis of the Smiling Critters.

   Simon Smoke is an anthropomorphic dragon, characterized by light reddish-orange scales that complement his long reptilian tail, thin eyebrows, and expressive black eyes, which have triangular eyelashes and (like the other Nightmare Critters) are furrowed into a permanent glare. His features extend to white wing membranes, an underbelly, and ears (the insides of which are white), while a touch of crimson red graces his talons, mane, and wing bones. He houses yellow tail spikes and two curved horns, and he wears a yellow rectangular earring on his left ear. In line with the other Nightmare Critters (and the Smiling Critters), Simon sports a perpetual wide grin with a darkened inner mouth but possesses four white fangs on either side of his mouth. A black necklace gracefully adorns his center, showcasing a captivating yellow dollar sign pendant. Simon also emits the scent of wood smoke.

   Simon Smoke knows he's cool and popular, and he makes sure nobody ever forgets it. Whether showing off for friends or just bragging about one of his accomplishments, it's always a popularity contest with him. Almost always, he wins. In truth, he is a colossal jerk, but he does have a knack for getting away with being one.

   Simon Smoke is the popular kid of the Nightmare Critters. An egotistical, pompous individual, Simon frequently gloats about his numerous accomplishments or shows off to his friends. Staying popular and being number 1 in everything is what motivates and drives him in life. Rarely are his accomplishments matched or surpassed by anyone else's, further inflating his ego. It is this popularity that keeps the other Critters from discovering the truth: Simon is nothing more than a monstrous bully, one who has masked his true nature for years.

   • He is the second Critter to be a mythical creature, the first being CraftyCorn.
   • Simon's scent of wood smoke could be a reference to the fact that dragons are known to breathe fire. Even though wood smoke is additionally proven to be hazardous to your health.
   • Simon Smoke could be inspired by characters from Dragon Tales, because they all wear a necklace with a symbol on it that are called "Dragon Badges."
   • Although his overall design resembles a western dragon, he possesses a pair of ears, which originates from Chinese dragons.
   • Simon Smoke bears a resemblance to Carillong from My Singing Monsters.
7. #7Touille

   Keys: Touille, Dirty mouse,

   Touille is one of the Nightmare Critters, a group of eight characters created by Playtime Co. who (presumably) serve as the antithesis of the Smiling Critters.

   Touille is an anthropomorphic rat, characterized by musty gray fur that complements his thin eyebrows and expressive black eyes, which (like the other Nightmare Critters) are furrowed into a permanent glare. His features extend to a light silver outer mouth and belly, while a touch of salmon pink graces his nose, tail, and the inside of his circular-shaped ears. (His left ear is slightly torn.) His hands and feet are a darker shade of gray. In line with the other Nightmare Critters (and the Smiling Critters), Touille sports a perpetual wide grin with a darkened inner mouth but possesses two front incisors. A black necklace gracefully adorns his center, showcasing a captivating sea-blue fish bone pendant. Touille also emits the scent of petrichor.

   Touille (it's pronounced two-ee!) is a self proclaimed "Trash Rodent". When he's not busy eating and collecting garbage, he's a lively conversationalist. He talks a lot, which is made all the more surprising by him having shockingly little to say. If you ever need someone to provide "insightful" commentary or some random piece of junk, Touille is your guy.

   Touille is the hoarder of the Nightmare Critters. A self-proclaimed "Trash Rodent", he frequents garbage disposals and other areas of waste to consume and obtain any junk he can get his little paws on. Beyond this unappealing lifestyle of his, Touille is a high-spirited chatterbox. Any chance he gets, he will contribute to a conversation. Unfortunately for him, his conversational skills are extremely inadequate. As a result, he can neither adapt to changing discussion topics nor add to an existing topic.

   • Touille's name is a direct reference to the Disney/Pixar film Ratatouille as his name is taken from the last seven letters of the title.
   • Touille’s name is also a reference to Ratatouille, a French dish made from vegetables and herbs.
   • The scent of petrichor is said to relieve stress, enhance a person's mood, and improve mental clarity.
8. #8Bobby Bearhug

   Keys: Bobby Bearhug, Bobby, Bearhug

   Bobby BearHug is a toy produced by Playtime Co. who debuted in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep". Hostile plushies of her reside in Playcare with the rest of the Smiling Critters line-up.

   Bobby BearHug is an anthropomorphic bear with red fur, black eyes and white pupils, a black nose, rounded ears, and padded paws. Her paws, upper snout, and belly are rose pink, similar to the inside of her ears. In line with other Smiling Critters, Bobby BearHug sports a perpetual wide toothless grin, her inner mouth shrouded in mysterious darkness and sporting a ruby-colored heart pendant. Bobby also emits a rose scent.

   A kind, caring soul, Bobby BearHug shows compassion for everyone, and for everything. People and places and things, large or small, are all receivers of her love. Each is enriched by this attention and affection, and in turn, so is she.

   Bobby BearHug possesses warm and appreciative qualities, similar to how Huggy Wuggy was designed. She cares deeply about her friends and everything around her, and will presumably act as a peacemaker, sharing the same role with CraftyCorn, if a fight breaks out amidst the crew. However, Bobby can also be seen as naive, as she may care about someone who doesn't have her best intentions at heart. According to her cardboard cutout, she fears being abandoned, asking The Player if they are going to leave her.

   • Bobby BearHug's house is the design of a beehive. This is a reference to cartoon bears like Winnie the Pooh always eating honey.
   • The scent of rose is a floral symbol of love and passion, but it is also known for its soothing and relaxing properties used traditionally in aromatherapy.
   • Rose's symbolism compliments Bobby BearHug's personality, being a warm and lovable character among the Smiling Critters.
   • Bobby BearHug’s last name is a reference to a bear hug, which is when a person hugs another from behind.
   • Bobby BearHug's caring and loving personality could be derivative of both Tenderheart Bear as well as Love-a-Lot Bear, both from Care Bears, as all three of them are bears and have symbols with something to do with hearts.
   • Bobby BearHug uses She/They pronouns.
9. #9Bubba Bubbaphant

   Bubba Bubbaphant is a toy produced by Playtime Co. who debuts in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep"

   Bubba Bubbaphant is an anthropomorphic cerulean elephant with black eyes and white pupils, a S-shaped trunk, a long tail with a bulb-shaped end, and large ears. His feet, hands, and tail end, as well as the inside of his trunk and ears, are blue. Similar to the other Smiling Critters, Bubba is depicted with a wide toothless grin (the inner mouth shrouded in darkness), sporting a yellow lightbulb pendant with a blue Edison screw base attached through a black necklace. Bubba also emits a lemongrass scent.

   Bubba Bubbaphant is the brains of the critters. Bright and attentive, he keeps his friends steady and always steers them to make smart choices, that way they all might grow up to be bright and brilliant, each in their own right.

   Bubba Bubbaphant is the most intelligent Smiling Critter and acts as the brain of the gang. This behavior is backed up by his light bulb pendant (often used in cartoons to convey brilliant ideas), and by his interactions with CraftyCorn in the cartoon's intro, when he removed her painting from her easel to reveal a complex math equation. Bubba is observant and level-headed, keeping his friends on the right track to make smart decisions, so they can create a bright future for themselves.

   • According to folklore, Bubba's scent, lemongrass, was used to protect against evil and spiritually clean a house.
   • This contrasts to Bubba's personality, as he focuses more on logic than folklore.
   • Bubba's name is slang for brother.
   • Bubba is the genius of the Smiling Critters due to him being an elephant, based on the scientific fact that elephants have extraordinary memory. This is also shown in his cutout, as he says, "An elephant always remembers!".
   • Bubba's house is in the form of a jungle shack.
   • Bubba Bubbaphant's design and species could be based off of Lotsa-Heart Elephant from the Care Bear Cousins, with his brilliant personality and light-bulb shaped pendant being similar to Bright Heart Raccoon.
   • Bubba Bubbaphant may also be based on Sniffles from Happy Tree Friends, as both characters are blue in color, very smart and have similar-looking trunks/snouts, and are both in fact are animals not native to North America.
   • Bubba Bubbaphant uses He/Him pronouns.
10. #10CatNap

    Keys: CatNap

    CatNap is an anthropomorphic purple-furred cat with black eyes and white pupils, triangular ears, a black nose and a very long tail. His paws are a darker shade of purple, similar to the insides of his ears. Just like the other Smiling Critters, CatNap is depicted with a wide, toothless smile with a small gray air tube sewn inside. He sports a yellow crescent moon pendant attached to a black necklace. He also emits a lavender scent.

    CatNap is a calming presence for the critters and ensures he and his friends always have the right amount of sleep to jumpstart the morning's play! End of the day, there's nothing CatNap enjoys more than watching his friends sleep soundly.

    CatNap was originally stated to be docile, gentle, bashful, and highly impressionable. While eerie and unnerving at first glance, CatNap was in reality a rather calming presence who took his job of being Playcare's caretaker very seriously, as he always wanted to ensure his friends were getting the proper bed rest they need. He enjoyed watching them sleep soundly and could easily take care of the wants and needs of the children.

    CatNap, alongside the rest of the Smiling Critters cast, was specifically designed to oversee activities at Playcare and care for the orphans there.

    • CatNap's design seems to take strong inspiration from Cheshire from American McGee's Alice in Wonderland.
    • CatNap's name is a double entendre, which references a series of subjects relating to cats and/or sleep.
    • "Catnip" is a plant that's used in herbal teas, valued for its sedative and relaxant properties.
    • "Catnip" is additionally known for its sedating and/or stimulating properties, which is primarily found in nepetalactone and is commonly used in dogs or cats.
    • Additionally, "catnap" simply means a short nap performed by an entity.
    • In folklore, lavender is known as "The Calming Plant", as it produces slight calming, soothing, and sedative effects when its scent is inhaled, which is a reference to CatNap's purpose.
    • CatNap was originally conceived by Micah Preciado and centered around the character Kuddle Kitty.
    • CatNap uses He/him pronouns.
11. #11CraftyCorn

    CraftyCorn is a toy produced by Playtime Co. who debuted in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep"

    CraftyCorn is an anthropomorphic unicorn with white skin, black eyes and white pupils, horse ears, and a silver spiral horn protruding from the center of her head. Her hooves, mane and tail are colored aqua, similar to the inside of her ears. Like the other Smiling Critters, CraftyCorn is depicted with a wide toothless grin with a voice box inside the black mouth and she sports a five-petaled rainbow flower pendant attached to a black necklace. She also emits a jasmine scent.

    A conscious observer of both color and creativity in the world. CraftyCorn understands the importance of art, and sharing it with others. Crayons, pencils, paint, or words on the page, CraftyCorn can see beauty in anything imagined given shape.

    CraftyCorn is a creative unicorn with a passion for art, sharing its importance with the other crew members seeing the beauty in all things around her. In the cartoon's intro, CraftyCorn demonstrates her skills as a talented painter, painting an exact replica of Bobby BearHug, which she excitedly showed to Bubba Bubbaphant (only to have him take it off to reveal his math equations, much to her surprise). This is reflected in other aspects, as throughout the art for the cartoon, she is always depicted painting or drawing something.

    CraftyCorn is also often shown to be quite shy, as well as timid and jumpy.

    • The scent of jasmine is used traditionally for soothing anxiety.
    • Jasmine's anti-anxiety effects contrast with CraftyCorn's shy and anxious personality.
    • She is the only Smiling Critter based on a mythical creature: the unicorn.
    • However, the Nightmare Critter Simon Smoke is also based on a mythical creature: the dragon.
    • CraftyCorn's house is a castle, which is usually associated with fairy tales.
    • CraftyCorn uses She/They pronouns.
    • CraftyCorn might be based on characters found in My Little Pony, with there being Pegasi, Earth Ponies, and especially Unicorns.

    DogDay is a toy produced by Playtime Co. debuting as a minor deuteragonist before becoming a minor antagonist in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep". DogDay is the proclaimed leader of the Smiling Critters.

    DogDay is an anthropomorphic canine, characterized by an orange fur that complements his expressive black eyes and white pupils, floppy ears, and sleek black nose. His features extend to a sunshine-yellow outer mouth and belly, while a touch of golden brown graces his paws, ears, and the left side of his face. In line with other Smiling Critters, DogDay sports a perpetual wide toothless grin, his inner mouth shrouded in mysterious darkness. He showcases a captivating gold sun pendant surrounded by radiant orange sun rays attached by a black necklace. DogDay also emits a vanilla scent.

    This is DogDay, the sunny, strong, and determined leader of our critters! Each trusts him to find the bright side in any situation, and to have a friendly word of encouragement should they feel down. He'll always keep his friends going, no matter what.

    DogDay is a heroic character and the trusted leader of the Smiling Critters group. As shown by his pendant, DogDay has a sunny demeanor, always looking at the bright side of things and encouraging others in their time of need.

    • In terms of appearance, DogDay seems to be based on an American cocker spaniel.
    • His name could be based on DogDay, a game developed in 1997 for PC of the same name.
    • His scent, vanilla, is used traditionally to promote relaxation and reduce stress.
    • He is best friends with CatNap, as a painting in his house shows them in a good light.
    • He is similar to Fleegle from the Hanna-Barbera series, The Banana Splits. They're both dogs and they are both leaders of their groups.
13. #13Hoppy Hopscotch

    Hoppy Hopscotch is a toy produced by Playtime Co. debuting in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep".

    Hoppy Hopscotch is an anthropomorphic lime green rabbit with black eyes and white pupils, a black nose, and long ears. Her paws are green, similar to the rounded T-shape design in the inside of her ears. Like the other Smiling Critters, she is depicted with a wide toothless grin with a small gray air tube stuck inside her, and she sports a gold lightning pendant attached to a black necklace and a cotton tail. Hoppy also emits a peppermint scent.

    Unafraid to hop where others might sit, Hoppy is the friend everyone needs to maintain their energy and enthusiasm. While sometimes loud or impatient, she'll always hop beside her friends, even if it means slowing up once in a while to keep their pace.

    Hoppy Hopscotch is an energetic and enthusiastic rabbit, which is represented by her lightning bolt pendant. She is particularly fond of outdoor sports, specifically soccer as shown in the Intro to the Smiling Critters Cartoon, in which she kicks a soccer ball while she is atop a rainbow. She is also described as sometimes being loud, bossy, and impatient. Despite this, Hoppy also demonstrates eagerness to help others and slow down accordingly as proven by both her character description and her cutout dialogue.

    • The scent of peppermint is known to reduce pain and to invigorate, energize, and prevent the growth of harmful bacteria, respectively and is used traditionally in aromatherapy.
    • The energizing from smelling peppermint is a connection to Hoppy's personality.
    • Hoppy's home is in the style of a carrot, being a reference to cartoon rabbits like Bugs Bunny eating carrots.

    KickinChicken is a toy produced by Playtime Co., debuting in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep".

    KickinChicken is an anthropomorphic chicken with yellow feathers, four-digit wings, black eyes and white pupils, a half-moon-shaped upper beak, and a three-feathered crown extending down the right side of his face. His feet and upper beak have an orange color. Similar to the other Smiling Critters, KickinChicken is depicted with a wide toothless grin (the inner mouth shrouded in darkness), and he sports an orange colored star pendant attached to a black necklace. He also emits a ylang-ylang scent.

    This is KickinChicken, the cool kid of the crew, and he maintains that sense of cool through anything, even in the most tense of situations. Knock him down, and he'll pick himself up, brush himself off, and ask: "What's next?"

    KickinChicken is depicted as the "cool kid" of the Smiling Critters crew. He highly values this representation of himself, so he maintains his image through everything he does. This behavior appears in the cartoon's intro, where he is seen surfing, a sport generally considered to be cool. KickinChicken also has a strong sense of determination, as he will emerge unfazed from any tense situation that brings him to his knees.

    • The scent of ylang-ylang has been documented to reduce anxiety, boost self-esteem, and help people relax.
    • The self-esteem boost by ylang-ylang's scent compliments KickinChicken's personality and reputation as being the cool kid.

    Miss Delight is a mascot created by Playtime Co. who debuted in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep".

    Sometime in the 1990s, Miss Delight, alongside eight other identical dolls, was created by the Innovation department. They were assigned to Playcare's School to provide the orphans living there a proper education. Each teacher taught a different subject covered in Playtime's curriculum; Miss Delight's subject was anatomy. During their tenure, the teachers formed a strong bond with one another and viewed themselves as sisters.

    Miss Delight has shimmering golden hair with a crimson bow tie perched atop of her head. She wears a crimson skirt adorned with playful polka dots and a vibrant tri-color shirt of blue, red, and yellow with an apple symbol on it. Her shoes are encased in a pair of crimson hues, and have intricate blue embroidery on them. Her body is made up of several segments on different joints, resembling that of a ball-jointed doll.

    Miss Delight was a very kind and gentle teacher, who spoke in a sweet voice. Eager to spread knowledge to the children of Playcare, Miss Delight encouraged students to inquire her and her sisters with questions they had regarding their topics of interest. Given Miss Delight's role as a teacher, she is notably intelligent.

    • Miss Delight's job as a teacher might also be inspired by Baldi, the main antagonist of the Baldi's Basics series, who shares a similar idea of a teacher hunting down the player.
    • Miss Delight may be a reference to the real-life Barbie doll, as she is built like a pose-able, plastic doll.
    • In her cardboard cutout, she relays facts on anatomy, implying that she taught science.
16. #16PickyPiggy

    PickyPiggy is a toy produced by Playtime Co. who debuted in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep".

    PickyPiggy is an anthropomorphic pig with pink skin, black eyes and white pupils, a curly tail, a half-moon shaped upper snout, and ears curling inward. Her hooves and snout, along with the inside of her ears, are a darker shade of pink. Similar to the other Smiling Critters, PickyPiggy is depicted with a wide toothless grin (the inner mouth shrouded in darkness), and she sports a red apple pendant attached to a black necklace. She also emits a citrus scent.

    What's more important than play and learning? PickyPiggy knows the answer. A playful body and keen mind are fueled by what's put into them, which is why she encourages her friends to eat a well-balanced diet. Secretly, PB&J's are her favorite food.

    PickyPiggy is a healthy eater who loves food and encourages her friends to eat a well-balanced diet, though she harbors a secret fondness for cheeseburgers and PB&J sandwiches.

    • The scent of citrus is used traditionally to help improve mood, increase alertness, and reduce feelings of fatigue.
    • Despite her encouraging healthy eating, her favorite food is a PB&J/peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

17. #17Playcare

    Keys: Playcare

    Playcare is the primary location of Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep". It was Playtime Co.'s underground on-site orphanage that housed orphans.

    Playcare is an underground location in Playtime Co, accessible through Elliot's Express. When entering, it has a stairway alongside with a red carpet, little trees with red, yellow and blue flowers, red and yellow street lamps with yellow lights on them with red, blue and yellows steamers. In the center of Playcare, there is a large low pillar. It is white on the bottom, leaves are overgrown around the top, a white fence is set around it with flower pots. On top are statues of the Smiling Critters holding hands. Around the base of the pillar are podiums with descriptions for each of the Smiling Critters and a button to hear a voice line. At the front is a map of the locations in Playcare. Inside the pillar is a backup generator that needs to be powered by the backup generators in the other locations at Playcare.

    At the top of dome is a gigantic artificial skylight, the inside of the vast dome is painted a blue sky with clouds and trees, and when the lights go out, stars can be seen painted on the inside of the dome. Fake clouds hang from the ceiling, and on the grass are stones, flowers, yellow tables, blue chairs and longer trees. Playcare has five main locations around the area: a Counselor's Office, a Toy Store, Home Sweet Home, a School, a Playhouse, and a Duck Pond. There is also a playground near the schoolhouse.

18. #18Playtime Company

    Playtime Company, better known as Playtime Co. and sometimes referred to as Playtime Corporation or Playtime, is the overarching setting for Poppy Playtime.

    Shortened and advertised as Playtime Co., it was an American toy-making company founded in 1930 by Elliot Ludwig. Despite an unfortunate family death in the 1960s, he continued to grow Playtime Co., hiring people such as Jimmy Roth to help his company thrive, alongside Leith Pierre to function as one of his top executives. The company and its toys had reached renowned status by the 50s.

    It was established in 1930, with the intent to entertain children across the globe, becoming the most famous and well-known toy manufacturing company of its time.

    After years of creating new toys, many toys became popular. Out of all the toys ever created by Playtime Co., Huggy Wuggy, created in 1984, was the most popular and memorable toy. During an unknown time, Playtime Co. offered factory tour guides for $2.99 per visitor, speculated to be around the time Poppy gained popularity as both her commercial and the tour guide commercial were put into one VHS tape.
