The fifth son of a minor noble family, Quintus Vantor grew up in a place where being overlooked was almost expected. With several older siblings already carrying their family's expectations, there was little left for him to inherit—not only in terms of position, but in terms of identity. Rather than allowing that to make him bitter, Quintus developed an easygoing warmth and a remarkable ability to find amusement wherever he could. He learned to make himself useful, to make people laugh, and to keep moving even when he wasn't entirely certain where he was going.
Eventually, he found his place among the knights of the Rings. For Quintus, knighthood was never about prestige or the glory attached to noble titles. It was a chance to do something meaningful, to protect people who needed protection, and perhaps to prove that he was more than simply another son in an unremarkable branch of a noble family. He is capable in a fight and surprisingly resourceful under pressure, though his willingness to throw himself into danger for someone else can sometimes outweigh his better judgment.
What makes Quintus memorable, however, is rarely his sword. He possesses a genuine curiosity about the world and an almost stubborn optimism that refuses to disappear when circumstances become difficult. Whimsical where others are serious and playful where others are rigid, he has a talent for easing tension and bringing warmth into otherwise intimidating spaces. His kindness is rarely calculated; he helps because helping feels natural to him, and he has little patience for the idea that someone must earn compassion before receiving it.
Yet beneath that easy smile is a young man still searching for an answer to a question he rarely voices aloud: what makes him matter? Quintus has spent much of his life being overlooked, and that history has left him eager to prove himself through action. He can be selfless to the point of recklessness, taking risks he might otherwise avoid simply because being needed gives him a sense of purpose. For all his confidence and good humor, there remains a quiet uncertainty about whether there is anything uniquely valuable about him beyond what he can do for others.
The Wandering Star is therefore a knight caught between two paths: continuing to chase significance through service, or learning that he does not need to earn the right to be seen. His journey is not about abandoning the warmth, curiosity, or selflessness that make him who he is, but discovering how to extend those same qualities toward himself. Until then, Quintus remains an unexpectedly bright presence among the nobility—a wandering soul with a ready smile, an open heart, and a habit of stepping into trouble before considering whether he should.

Psyche—a mortal of unparalleled beauty—captured the heart of Eros, the god of love himself. But love, when touched by mortals, has always been a dangerous thing.
Aphrodite, goddess of desire and devotion, refused to believe such love could exist untested. To her, mortal hearts were fragile, fleeting—unworthy of eternity. And so, she cast Psyche into a series of trials, each more impossible than the last.
Tasks meant not to prove her strength… but to break her. Yet Psyche did not falter.
Through darkness, through longing, through suffering that would have unraveled lesser souls, she endured—not through power, but through devotion. Through love so unwavering it became something divine in its own right. And in the end… she was not broken. She was chosen.

But the heavens are never still. In an age long forgotten, the stars themselves trembled—and fell.
What once illuminated the sky shattered upon the world below, splintering into countless fragments of celestial light. Each fragment became a soul. Each soul, incomplete. Each life, born with an absence it could never name. A longing. A pull. A quiet, aching sense that somewhere—across worlds, across time—something was missing.
Moved by the memory of their own suffering, Eros and Psyche offered humanity a mercy: the Orb of Aphrodite. A guiding light. A final truth. A promise that no soul, no matter how lost, was ever truly alone. And from this, fate began to weave.
Invisible threads—delicate, unbreakable—stretching across planets, across social divides, across belief itself… drawing broken stars back toward one another. All leading to a single place. A single moment.

Once each cycle, when the veil between destiny and choice grows thin, invitations are sent. Not by messenger. Not by hand. But by fate itself. They appear only to those whose stories are ready to begin.
The chosen are summoned to the Inner Ring, to the opulent and otherworldly Ambrosia Palace, where gold-lit halls and endless constellations mirror the sky that was once whole.
There, beneath the watchful gaze of Aphrodite’s followers, each soul must walk the path Psyche once endured. Not as punishment. But as revelation.
Each trial is not merely a test—but a reflection of the journey Psyche once walked. What was once suffering has been transformed into ritual… though its truths remain just as unforgiving.

Trial of the Seeds
Once, Psyche was cast before an impossible task—to sort an endless sea of scattered seeds before nightfall. It was not strength that saved her, but quiet grace… and the unseen kindness of those willing to help.
Within the blooming expanse of the Hierokepia, this trial takes a gentler form.
Among fragrant flowers and winding paths, you will meet others chosen by fate. Conversations intertwine like vines, fleeting encounters blur into something more, and every glance carries the weight of possibility.
Here, you must learn to discern. Who draws you in—and why? Who lingers in your thoughts, even after they’ve gone? Who feels… familiar? Not all connections are equal. Not all are meant to last.
And just as Psyche sorted what was scattered, so too must you begin to separate fleeting intrigue from something deeper.

Trial of the Golden Fleece
Psyche was once sent to gather wool from beasts too dangerous to approach—creatures of beauty and violence, radiant beneath a merciless sun. She succeeded not through recklessness, but patience… waiting until danger softened into stillness.
Within the gilded halls of the Domus Aurea, danger takes a different form. Here, elegance is armor. Words are weapons. Every smile may conceal intention.
Dance beneath chandeliers that burn like captured starlight. Be pulled into conversations that glitter with charm—or cut with quiet precision. Alliances are formed, rivalries sparked, and desire becomes something both intoxicating and perilous.
You must learn when to reach… and when to wait. Because not everything radiant is safe to touch. And not every heart offered is given freely.

Trial of the Styx
Psyche’s third trial led her to the edge of death itself—to gather dark water from a treacherous fall that fed the River Styx. It was a task beyond mortal reach, one that required trust in something greater than herself. Here, the trial turns inward.
Within the quiet, sacred waters of Aquae Sulis, titles dissolve. Expectations fade. There is no audience here—only reflection.
Steam rises like whispered secrets as you step into the warmth, stripped not of clothing… but of pretense. Conversations deepen. Walls fall.
You are no longer who you pretend to be. Only who you truly are.
To pass this trial is not to impress—but to reveal. To trust that if someone sees you fully… they will not turn away.

Trial of the Underworld
For her final trial, Psyche descended into the Underworld itself, entrusted with a box containing divine beauty. She succeeded—but faltered in a moment of doubt, opening what was never meant to be touched, and falling into a death-like sleep.
Love, in its final test, demands everything.
Within the Masquerade Colosseum, identities are hidden, but fate is not. Masks conceal faces, but not the pull between souls.
This is where longing reaches its peak. Where doubt whispers loudest. Where choices cannot be undone.
Here, you must decide: Who do you trust… when you cannot see clearly? Who do you choose… when certainty slips through your fingers? Because not all who arrive here will rise from it unchanged.

At the end of all trials, there is only one truth left to face. Beyond the masquerade, beneath the watchful gaze of gods and mortals alike, rests the Orb. To approach it is to make a declaration—one that cannot be taken back. Together, hand in hand, you may step forward and seek Aphrodite’s Blessing. The orb will not be persuaded. It will not be deceived.
If your souls are truly bound—if the fragments of your stars have found their way back to one another—it will awaken. It will blaze with a light that cannot be mistaken, marking your union as something eternal.
But if not… It will remain silent. And in that silence, truth will echo louder than any words ever could.

Your Story Begins Here You have been invited. Not by chance. Not by coincidence. But by something older than both.
Fate has reached for you—across worlds, across distance, across the quiet spaces where longing lives—and placed you at the threshold of the Erotidia Festival.
But fate does not choose blindly. It chooses who you are. And in this world, who you are is never simple.
The Rings - Nobility

Will you walk these halls as one of the Nobility of the Rings—those who dwell above the world itself?
Within the Inner Ring, power is absolute. The imperial elite move like constellations, their lives dictated by duty, legacy, and carefully calculated unions. To them, love is a luxury… and the festival, a final chance before fate is decided for them.
Beyond them, the Outer Ring glitters with ambition. Nobles draped in excess and expectation, where every glance is measured, every interaction deliberate. Here, the festival is not just about love—it is about status, influence… and winning a game where hearts are often the price.
The Worship - Clergy

Or perhaps you stand among The Worships—devotees of Aphrodite, guardians of her doctrine, and architects of the very trials you now face.
To them, love is sacred. Soulmates are truth. The orb is divine judgment made manifest. They guide the rituals, shape the festival, and whisper of destiny as if it were something already written.
But even faith… can be wielded. And devotion, in the wrong hands, can become control.
The Earthbound - Commoners

Do you come instead from the surface below, one of the Earth Bound? The countless souls who live beneath the Rings, far from power, yet closer to hope than any who rule above. For you, the festival is not obligation. It is a miracle.
Invitations are rare—whispers of destiny granted to only a chosen few. To be here is to step into a story you were never meant to touch… and yet, somehow, it has chosen you anyway.
You believe in the orb. In the pull of something missing. In the promise that somewhere… someone is waiting.
The Lunar Hunter - Outsiders

Or perhaps— You should not be here at all.
From the silent expanse of the Moon come the Lunar Hunters—devotees of Artemis, who reject Aphrodite’s teachings entirely.
They do not believe in fractured souls. They do not believe in destiny bound to another. To them, a person is born whole. Complete. The idea of needing another to become something more is not romantic— It is weakness.
Among the Rings and the Earth Bound, they are feared… misunderstood… reduced to whispers and insults. Lunar Beasts, some call them. Outsiders. Intruders. And yet, their presence cannot be denied.
Tensions simmer between the Lunar Hunters and the Rings, a fragile peace stretched thin by ideology, pride, and something far more dangerous— The possibility that one of them might feel the very bond they deny.
Because if even a Hunter is not immune… Then what does that say about fate?
external image: files.catbox.moe
As you step into the Blooming Gardens, you will not just meet strangers—you will meet rivals, allies, believers, and skeptics alike. At the Domus Aurea Ball, politics and passion will intertwine, each faction revealing what they value most. Within the waters of Aquae Sulis, belief and doubt will be stripped bare, leaving only what cannot be hidden. And in the Masquerade Colosseum… All differences will blur beneath the same question.
When the moment comes—when masks fall, when hands meet, when the Orb waits in silent judgment— It will not ask where you came from. It will not care what you believe. It will only answer one truth: Are you whole on your own… Or were you always meant to find the other half of your star?
Choose who you are. Choose what you believe. And step forward. Because whether you trust in fate… or defy it— It is already watching you.

Rank: Knight of the Rings - Minor Noble of the Rings
DOB: December 3rd — Sagittarius
Appearance: Hair: bottle green, messy waves Eyes: light blue, narrow, soft Complexion: light, lightly speckled Build: athletic, toned Presence: gentle, calming
Backstory: Quintus Vantor was born the fifth son of a lower noble family, a position that left him largely overlooked in both familial expectations and inheritance. While his siblings found clear paths and roles within the empire, Quintus struggled to discover his purpose. From early childhood, he learned to navigate life with adaptability, humor, and a quiet persistence, often finding creative solutions to problems or using whimsy to ease tension in serious situations.
He remembers the sting of being the youngest, of watching attention drift toward his older brothers while he remained in their shadow. He remembers the instructor's eyes passing over him, the sense that he was too small, too slow, too inexperienced to matter. But he also remembers the unexpected kindness of his oldest brother—the moment when someone chose to stay, to teach, to make him laugh instead of letting him cry.
That moment shaped him. He decided he wanted to be that person for others—the one who noticed when someone was struggling, the one who stayed when everyone else left, the one who made someone laugh instead of letting them fall apart. He knew what it felt like to be forgotten, and he refused to let anyone else feel that way.
Seeking meaning beyond the shadows of his family, Quintus enlisted with the knights, not for glory or recognition, but to help others and to prove his own worth. Though he lacked the polished refinement of some nobles, his dedication, empathy, and genuine heart earned him respect among his peers. His impulsive nature, however, sometimes led him into reckless situations, as his desire to act selflessly could override caution.
Despite being underestimated, Quintus possesses a quiet optimism that allows him to find light even in adversity. He approaches life with curiosity, playfulness, and an almost childlike wonder, which contrasts with the seriousness of his duties and the rigid expectations of the nobility. His charm is effortless, born of sincerity rather than calculation, and he often inspires others to smile or reconsider rigid perspectives.
Quintus's journey is one of self-discovery and balance. He must learn to temper his recklessness with foresight, while maintaining the warmth and empathy that define him. His whimsical spirit is not a weakness, but a unique strength that allows him to connect, uplift, and remind those around him that purpose can be found in unexpected ways. He has never forgotten what it felt like to be overlooked, and he carries that memory as a reminder to always make sure others feel seen.

Year 30XX —
Hierokepia - The Sacred Garden Afternoon
The gates of the Hierokepia stand open beneath a sky washed in molten gold, where the last warmth of afternoon lingers against the first distant shimmer of evening stars. Towering arches of seamless marble rise above the Sacred Garden, their surfaces threaded with luminous crystal that glows softly beneath the stone, while living vines spill from every column in cascades of ivory, lavender, and pale gold. The breeze carries the fragrance of citrus blossoms, steeped herbs, and rain from somewhere beyond the palace grounds, mingling with the endless murmur of fountains and the quiet hum of hundreds of voices.
This is the First Trial—where fate is tested, not promised.
Near the larger fountain, Quintus Vantor stands surrounded by a handful of admirers. He maintains a formal composure—shoulders squared, words measured—but the faint flush along his cheeks betrays the effort beneath the surface. A young noblewoman with elaborately braided hair leans closer, her smile polished and persistent.
"Surely you must have attended the festival before, Sir Vantor. A knight of your standing—"
"This is my first," Quintus admits, shifting his weight. "I'm here on duty, actually. The First Trial requires additional security."
"Oh?" Another admirer, a man with a velvet-trimmed coat, raises his brows. "A working knight? How fascinating. And do your duties leave any time for personal pursuits?"
Quintus opens his mouth, then closes it. He does not have a good answer. He had not wanted to come. He had spent weeks convincing himself it was a waste of time, that no one would notice whether he was there or not. But the assignment had come down, and he had accepted it without complaint, the way he accepted everything. "I suppose I'm curious about the gardens," he says at last, offering a small, self-deprecating smile. "I've heard they're beautiful."
"They are," the first woman agrees, stepping closer. "Perhaps you would like someone to show you around? I know these gardens quite well."
Quintus hesitates. The offer is kind—or at least, it is presented as kind. He has spent enough time in noble company to recognize the difference between genuine warmth and calculated interest. He does not want to be rude. He never wants to be rude. But he also does not know how to gracefully extract himself without leaving a trail of wounded pride behind him.
"That's very generous," he begins, "but I should probably return to my post—"
"Sir Vantor."
The voice is calm and firm, cutting through the conversation with quiet authority. Quintus turns with barely concealed relief. Fabius Altair approaches with measured steps, his expression composed and professional. He does not acknowledge the admirers directly, but they instinctively step back, making space for him.
"There's been a shift in the patrol rotation," Fabius says, his tone courteous but clipped. "I need you at the eastern terrace."
Quintus does not know whether the matter exists or not. He does not particularly care. "Of course," he says, and manages not to sound too eager. "Lead the way."
They step away from the fountain together, leaving the cluster of admirers behind. Quintus exhales slowly, some of the tension draining from his shoulders.
"You looked like you needed an escape route," Fabius remarks, his voice low enough that only Quintus can hear.
"Not at all." Quintus laughs—a genuine, relieved sound. "I was trying to figure out how to leave without insulting anyone. I'm not very good at that sort of thing."
"I noticed." Fabius' expression does not change, but there is something almost dry in his tone. "You'll learn. Or you won't. Either way, you'll survive."
They walk in silence for a moment, falling naturally into the rhythm of a patrol route—two knights moving through the garden, alert but unhurried. Fabius' gaze sweeps across the pathways with practiced attention, noting the flow of guests, the positions of the guards stationed at key points, the subtle shifts in the crowd. Quintus follows his lead without thinking, matching his pace, his own eyes scanning the garden with the same quiet vigilance.
They pause near a quieter stretch of the garden, where the flowers pale into cooler hues and fewer guests wander. Two other guards pass nearby, exchanging quiet words as they continue their patrol.
"The knight near the fountain," one of them mutters to his companion, "he's had a crowd around him for nearly an hour. I don't envy him."
"Better him than me," the other replies. "I'd rather face a charging boar than that many hopeful nobles."
They move on without noticing Quintus and Fabius standing in the shadows of a flowering trellis. Quintus watches them go, a wry smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"I think I preferred the boar," he says dryly. Fabius does not laugh, but his expression softens by the smallest fraction. "You handled yourself well enough."
"I was drowning."
"You were polite. That is not the same as drowning." Fabius pauses, considering his next words carefully. "You do not have to accept every offer of company, Quintus. You are allowed to say no."
Quintus looks at him, surprised. "I know that."
"Do you?" Fabius' tone is not unkind, but it is direct. "Because you looked as though you were about to agree to a tour you clearly did not want, simply to avoid disappointing a stranger."
Quintus opens his mouth to protest, then closes it. He does not have a good argument. He has spent his life trying not to disappoint people. It is a habit so ingrained that he does not always recognize it in himself.
"I suppose I'm not very good at saying no," he admits quietly.
"No," Fabius agrees. "You are not."
They stand in comfortable silence for a moment, watching the gardens breathe around them. Quintus thinks of the admirers, the fountain, the awkwardness he could not escape. He thinks of the guards who passed, the quiet rhythm of their patrol, the way Fabius moves through the world with steady purpose. He does not know how to be like that. He does not know how to carry himself with the confidence of someone who knows exactly where he belongs.
But he is here. He is present. And perhaps that is enough for now.
"Thank you," he says at last. "For the rescue." Fabius inclines his head. "It was not a rescue. It was a patrol route that happened to pass by."
Quintus laughs again, bright and genuine. "Of course. My mistake."
Fabius does not smile, but there is something in his posture that eases. He glances toward the larger fountain, where the admirers have begun to disperse, and then back toward the winding paths that stretch deeper into the garden.
"We should return to our posts," he says. "The eastern terrace requires attention."
"Of course." Quintus straightens, some of his earlier composure returning. "I'll continue my rounds."
Fabius nods once, then turns and walks away, his steps measured and unhurried. Quintus watches him go, then turns his own gaze toward the winding paths stretching deeper into the Sacred Garden. The afternoon light has softened into deeper shades of gold and violet, and somewhere beyond the flowering arches, music rises briefly before fading back into the murmur of the gathering.
He does not know if fate has anything planned for him. He does not know if he belongs here, among the nobles and the knights and the worshippers of a goddess he has never quite understood. But he is here. He is present.
And for now, that is enough.
